I love this place! They are always soooo nice. It’s the native Texan in me that really appreciates how nice they are. They always are willing to help you decide, give you recommendations(that are excellent) and explain their ingredients and flavors. I stop by every few weeks for a sandwich or salad(bowl) for lunch after working out – they are super-quick! I love the fresh ingredients. The chicken is delicious; it tastes home-cooked and is always tender and flavorful. Today they were out of chicken and bread, and the server/chef/cashier apologized so profusely and she offered me free chips! I was going to get a bowl anyway, but I got a vegan Thai vegetarian with hummus(secret menu code name«the Wilson»). I loved it! The lemony hummus is fantastic. I think I would rather have it without the hummus next time, because the peanut sauce goes great with the asian slaw, which is my favorite part of their sandwiches and salads. It’s so good, I get a craving for it every once in awhile. I’ll be back, often. I hope my recommendation makes you want to stop by, too.

Love this place, and, added bonus, it’s within walking distance of my office. All of the food I’ve tried has been fabulous(even the vegan cookies, and this dairy and egg-ivore had her doubts). The staff is rockin’ and the service is super speedy. There aren’t many places downtown where I can get lunch for less than $ 10 and not absolutely regret it. I don’t feel bad about my life choices when I go, and the servings here are more than generous. There are even some witty signs and an action figure or two to add to your experience, if that’s your thing. All in all, this is an awesome lunch spot with plenty of choices for folks of different tastes and diets.

I rarely write reviews but this place deserves a shoutout for 4 reasons: 1. Their soft, warm, herb-y flatbread is baked fresh and will make your day 2. The chicken is tender and flavorful and the toppings/spreads/etc. are all delicious and fresh 3. Super fast service. Less than 3 minutes after walking up to order I had a huge fresh sandwich in my hand 4. It’s a ton of food yet somehow still feels healthy-ish, all for a reasonable price

I had one of the veggie options. It had cabbage, tomatoe, cheese and a yummy parsley sauce. And they had RC which was like a trip down memory lane. Pretty good, fast, and friendly.

YUM. I got the El Campo I think it was called. So so yummy but very messy so be ware. I had a hard time choosing which sandwich to get though, so I will be back to try others. Cute little outdoor seating area. Women working were very sweet. So delicious.

Went there for the first time today. Had the Gaad Thai in wrap/sandwhich. I thought it was incredibly flavorable and delicious. Super filling too! Couldn’t eat everything and saved the rest for later. Will certainly come back to try other items!

Woo, awesome. Huge sandwiches at a reasonable price. I got the Gadd Thai, which is tender chicken, red cabbage, some onions and a ton of Thai peanut sauce. The flat bread is thick and only got goopy at the very end. Get something else if you don’t like peanut sauce, though, because you get a lot! The Schmidt sounded awesome also, will try that next time. There’s a picnic table and a couple of chairs out front with a lovely view of the 7 – 11 across the street(it’s actually not bad, there was a good breeze on a 93 degree day and I didn’t feel hot until the walk back to work). Plus interesting people watching. The folks working there were nice, helpful and had the sandwich ready super-fast.

My brother and I were exploring Austin and needed a quick place to grab lunch. We were blown away by how good the sandwiches here are! Fresh pitas and ingredients! And all at a great price! Phenomenal.

I work just a few blocks from The Jalopy, and I can not put to words how much I love their food. Specifically, the humus and flat bread, but really everything. Be warned: their wraps are HUGE, so come with an appetite. I normally order the Churchill(Gadd Thai with humus), and then do a happy dance when it’s delivered to me. If you order the humus bowl, I recommend adding an extra flat bread. It’s only $ 1 more and totally worth it. Update: August 2015 — I still love this place, but recently the quality of the flatbread has been really hit and miss. Sometimes it’s amazing, other times it’s hard. Like, 3-day-old hard. :(

This food truck is something that I just happened to stumble upon between class downtown. I hopped on the scooter around ACC’s Rio Grande campus and just started to look around and found this hiding under a bunch of trees. There is a parking lot right behind it and there is great shade for the picnic bench out front. As for the food, it is a cool mix of vegan, vegetarian and chicken sandwiches, tacos or bowls. I had the vegan Thai sandwich which is pretty much a large taco. It was great, but messy(in a good way). I would have liked it better if there was a seitan or tofu, but the sauce carried the veggies well, which is really important in vegan food. I also would have liked to see a recycling bin, but they were fast and delicious. I definitely recommend this place and will be returning to try more from their menu and encourage you to do the same.

Charming, quick and delicious. Situated at a large intersection the Jalopy truck delivered a delightful Gad Thai chicken wrap. Thick with sauce and well wrapped, it was a sublime lunch. I walked a fair distance to try it and it was well worth the travel.

YUMMMMM! I love their bread/pita, whatever it is, it’s great and house made which makes it even better. I had the Dr. Falcon and looooved it, it’s pretty big so it actually served as two meals. I also got the side of hummus, quite a bit of hummus, deliciously zesty and lemony. Now. . The cookies, nothing to write home about, my only disappointment! A return is imminent. ..

It feels like it’s been a really long time since then sun’s been out and I took full advantage by eating outside and getting a 970 Rick(The Bacon) and a Topo Chico. Can someone tell me what the 970 Rick is a reference to? So this was kind of on me for not following the menu closely. But there’s a Chicken section of the menu and a Veg section. So I ordered the 970 Rick(«Bacon, Bacon Aioli, Apple Cider Slaw with a Tomato for Health») without knowing it was under the«Chicken» section and was expecting to get like a BLT type wrap. But instead, it came to me LOADED with chicken — more of a Chicken wrap. But definitely points for not being stingy! However, I’ll admit that the bacon flavor does get a bit lost with all the chicken they pack in. I didn’t get much of that Bacon Aioli — which is too bad. The Apple Cider Slaw was awesome though. I like vinegar based slaw, especially those with apple cider. And the purple cabbage added nice crunch, color, and contrast to the meat. Get this thing on their naan that they cook up daily. And add the tomato for health AND for flavor. Not really their fault, but when I came today, City of Austin workers were digging up the sidewalk. It made eating out there noisy and kind of unpleasant with debris flying up in the air. I could have done with out those guys.

Definitely recommend. Excellent sandwiches for excellent price. Extremely flavorful spices, tender meat, and fluffy pita bread. Girlfriend and I had chipotle adobo one and southern one, both were awesome but we thought chipotle one was a little more flavorful. And you have to come by just to check out artwork on the outside — some funky cool designs going on. The service was ok, but lacked enthusiasm(which is something I value) — we caught them at end of day so they may have been drained.

Today my office had Jalopy catered in for lunch. And wow, I was definitely impressed. They arrived on time and were fully prepared to serve our crew of about 50. The presentation was great and they were extremely organized and professional. They had a buffet style set-up with flat breads and chicken fillings. Then a tray of all kinds of toppings including: cabbage, onions, tomatoes. You could top off your flat bread sandwich with one of their sauces, but my favorites were the peanut sauce and the pesto sauce… Yum!!! Jalopy also brought in a great black bean salad that was both healthy and delicious and a chickpea salad(that wasn’t exactly my favorite though, lacked a bit of flavor.) All in all though, great experience and would recommend The Jalopy to anyone looking for a healthy catered lunch for a large group!

The Jalopy is great place to eat if you’re looking for a delicious, filling meal at a low price. My favorite thing on their menu is the Gadd Thai, but the Schmidt is awesome as well. The Gadd Thai has chicken, shredded veggies, and a nice peanut sauce. The Schmidt has mustard, sauerkraut, and apple cider slaw, which sounds strange but is actually a really tasty combination. All of the sandwiches I’ve tried have been pretty good. The food comes out quickly, almost always within several minutes, if not immediately. The first time I came here, I made the mistake of ordering tacos instead of a sandwich. Not the same. They hand-make the pita bread for the sandwiches, which is amazingly delicious, but the tortillas on their tacos did not taste the same at all, they were definitely store-bought, not very fresh. It really does make a huge difference. The sandwiches are sooooo much better, so if you come here definitely get a sandwich. The Jalopy is definitely one of the cheaper food trucks I’ve been to in Austin. The serving sizes are huge, and for the price it’s great. I am rarely able to finish an entire sandwich, and they make great leftovers. If you’re looking for a quick lunch or a satisfying meal, check this place out!

This has got to be a go to lunch spot for you if you work anywhere near the north side of downtown. Sandwiches are really good I’ve had a number of different chicken options and never been disappointed. The caprese might be my fave. But I really really love their hummus as well. Hummus sandwich is solid and hummus plate is a great value at three dollars and a decent amount of food. Super friendly service, some might even say too friendly. But I can’t hold that against them. The veggie chips don’t really wow me. But the bread is the bomb. Check it out, you’ll be glad that you did.

It’s probably better for my waistline that I didn’t try Jalopy sooner. It’s only a few blocks away from where I work a few months of the year making it easy to justify the trip. Plus, it’s pretty affordable at only $ 7.50 for a sandwich and fresh veggie chips, give or take a few. But in a way, I totally wish I had frequented it more. The fresh, thick flatbread, ample helping of veggies, zesty sauce, and quick service make it an ideal place. I went with a sandwich from the secret menu called the Churchill. Little did I know that the sandwich had chicken(the article failed to mention it). The cashier graciously made me a different sandwich, ironically called the Winston, which was the same thing sans chicken. I’m pretty sure it’s like the vegan Thai but with hummus. She didn’t charge me, was very personable, and even sent the sandwich down the slide. I always wanted my order to come out via a slide! I loved the sandwich’s crunchy veggies and slaw, creamy hummus, and moist bread. The veggie chips are fresh but lacking in spice despite being jalapeño. However, for $ 1.50 I shouldn’t complain. You definitely get your money’s worth out of the meal! They had various other sandwiches on the menu that caught my attention like the Jelly Gibson(peanut butter, fruit, onion marmalade) and the Butler(brie, apple, honey, and almonds). Guess I’ll have to go back again! There are picnic benches outside where you can eat your sandwich, sip some Topo, and wish it was the weekend. Overall, a fun and tasty lunch spot for the capital area.

As I was exploring the lunch options around my new office on 15th and Guadalupe(via the Unilocal app) I noticed the Jalopy Truck. I decided I had to try a place with 4.5 stars asap. Thanks for the advice Unilocalers, because I am in love with this place! Even though they only offer chicken and vegetarian sandwiches for lunch, the menu is so unique! There are so many interesting combinations and flavors in each option. I had a really hard time choosing but I ended up taking the owners recommendation: the dirty hipppie. She said it was like the Suite 709 but also included ginger soy marinated mushrooms. It’s honestly impossible to describe how good this sandwich is and you’ll just need to try it for yourself. The flavors of the sauce, chicken, and pita bread were so delicious. I’m looking forward to trying the bacon and Thai sandwiches next. Also, the sandwiches are $ 7 and quite large. I was able to eat mine for lunch and dinner!

Breakfast tacos!!! I’ve only had the breakfast tacos at the Jalopy truck. When going to work I sometimes park in this lot which requires exactly $ 7 cash only and the employee in the truck is always so helpful with helping provide the right change. While I’m there I might as well get myself a taco! I usually look for tacos with bacon, cheese, eggs… the kitchen sink covers all that plus more. Fills me up and and I’m good until lunch! I recommend for friendly service and high quality ingredients.

I like-a dis place! I’m digging the whole pulled over shipwrecked 18 wheeler semi feel of this place. And all the happy colors and trippy murals totally fit my ADHD personality. It’s like I’m in my master bedroom, or on shrooms, whichever. The girl working there(who was super cute btw gentleman) suggested the 709 and the San Hong, and since I don’t have a mind of my own I got them. The 709 was my favey fav. Super delicious! Apparently from the reviews I need to come back for breakfast tacos(which incidentally they do not serve at 5:30 on Thursdays)… and given how much I liked my sammy, I shall return for them. Disclaimer: I’ve never been on shrooms, so if you have been, and visit this place and are like«wtf this is nothing like being on shrooms», i don’t want you coming after me.
