It’s always great here. The GM Evan runs this place very well. Our server Jeff is always polite and very respectful. I had the CRABCAKEBENEDICT. I recommend the hollandaise sauce on the side to save a little calories and fat. The ranch potatoes are perfect. My son had the CHOCOLATECHIPPERPANCAKE with bacon, no chocolate sauce on the pancake. I also recommend the GREENCHILIHAUVOESSANTAFE.

This place is still soooo terrible. My kids were having dental work done next door and I was starving, so I broke down and tried this place again. Service is beyond terrible. People waiting at the hostess stand without a hostess. Manager running around like a chicken with his cut off apologizing to people for multiple wrong orders. Customers all around me grumbling about food and waiting so long for it. My bill was nearly $ 20 for a basic dish and coffee. Both are which average at absolute best. How is this place still around? Oh yeah, because IHOP is the only other option for breakfast close by. We need to step up our game locally for breakfast is people are still going to this place for a breakfast fix.

Very, very busy on Memorial Day. We waited about 30 mins for our seat and then another 15 to place out order. About 15 minutes into waiting for our food, we left because of the wait. Not happy with the service, but can’t one star them because of how busy they were.

Decided to take my family here. We were told it would be a 15 – 20 minute wait. As we’re sitting there waiting, names are being called for people who aren’t there. So, they’re skipped which makes sense. Then, random people start walking in the door saying they were at Target and lost track of time. Instead of being told that there was a wait, they were seated immediately. This made our 15 – 20 minute wait time almost 40 minutes. This just kept happening over and over. We sat down to eat and our waitress took so long to take our order that another waitress took it for her. We eventually left the restaurant and ate at Blaze Pizza instead. The service here was pretty terrible.

Yeah, not the greatest. For a breakfast spot there is no reason why it should almost an hour for one person to get a meal. Service was super slow and wasn’t the greatest. My waitress came to the table late chomping on food. The crab cake Benedict was under seasoned while the ranch potatoes were a bit too salty. Not very satisfying at all. Let’s just say I can check this off of my first timers list as I will probably never go back. There are way better breakfast spots with way better service. I’ll take my money elsewhere.

The Egg and I has definitely slipped in quality over the past year. I’m generally not an egg snob — but this is the one place you would hope would not deliver your over-easy as over-well. Some food was cold, and my wife got a crunchy egg-shell surprise. Having grown up in the Deep South, I also cut my Texas friends some slack when it comes to local grits. But sorry, grits ain’t porridge. Finally, the gourmet coffee is not. There are better breakfast options — and this is the third disappointing breakfast I’ve had here. The Egg and I are no more.

Have been wanting to try this chain after making sure I had patronized local eats first. We ordered raisin french toast combo for myself and apple cinnamon pancake combo for mom. While waiting for the main meal, we were served tea in what I may call a grand way, served on a self-help plate. See the pic I took. Each combo came with 2 eggs and we chose bacon over sausage. Cinnamon butter — that was amazing. Great breakfast experience. Michelle, our waitress, was also amazing. Overall indeed a great experience.

3rd time to eat here & the last. Waffle was so cold it wouldn’t melt the butter. The added touch of eggshells in my over-cooked eggs was the breaking point. When you have Egg in your name one would think you’d at least get that right. And the poor couple beside us had to wait for over 5 minutes to get their waitresses attention for syrup. I guess she doesn’t like syrup with her pancakes as she seemed shocked when they asked for it and didn’t even apologize.

One of the best places for breakfast. I love the crab cake eggs benebict and corned beef hash. The lunch menu looks great too, but it’s hard to pass up a good breakfast.

Meh, I’ve been here a couple of times and have been underwhelmed with the food each time. The staff is attentive enough and the atmosphere is pleasant, but it’s not enough to keep me coming back. I’ll continue my quest for a good breakfast spot.

Large portions– perfect for early lunch! I got the Greek omelet– so tasty and perfectly prepared. Kids got French toast and loves every bite. The fruit cup that comes with kids meal is great– blueberries, melon, apples, grapes. We definately prefer this place over those big chain breakfast restaurants. Excellent customer service, very clean, so family friendly. Get the Kale Cooler!

Breakfast and job interview, check! The Egg & I, has a very good reputation for breakfast and lunch and there’s a good reason for that! I don’t go out for breakfast very often any more but when I do I’ve gone here the majority of the time. They have a huge variety of breakfast selections that would satisfy even the pickiest palette, so even my husband can find something on the menu. They have many types and styles of omelette’s, some traditional some of what I would call more of a California style! They also will cook your eggs to order any way you want them. They have several breakfast meats and again you can order them crispy well done or softer if that’s your preference. The orange and grapefruit juice ate refreshingly squeezed and delicious. Then you get to the sections related to waffles and pancakes and again really only your imagination restricts you. They even have several styles of pancakes including my favorite one that has fruit and granola inside the pancake… Yum! One thing I had never tried was their oatmeal. I’ve been in kind of an oatmeal kick over the past year so I decided to give it a go. I was warned it was a pretty good size serving but I opted for it instead of a cup which was also offered. I have to say I was still surprised when it arrived pretty much a large shallow soup style bowl full of oatmeal and sprinkled with fresh raspberries and blueberries and a little section of fresh granola as well. They had already brought a little plate with some cream, and brown sugar to apply as I wanted. It was the steel cut style of oatmeal which I love and with the fresh berries and a little of the granola it was absolutely delicious. Another thing about The Egg@I, is their plating. It’s really a delight to the eye! Everything comes adorned with a small cup of fresh fruit on the side and a nicely buttered English muffin!(Of course if you prefer not or prefer something else they are very flexible). And did I mention the coffee is great? The carafe sits on the table available at all times. I have limited experience with their lunch menu because I always try to get there before breakfast is over, but what I have tasted has been very good. Fresh, very appetizing and in general wholesome. Really can’t go wrong!

First time here, heard good things about it. Overall opinion– Average breakfast. Sunny side up eggs had dried up yolk, two of the orders at our table were incorrect, extremely long wait, even longer wait for our food,(which was odd because by the time we ordered the restaurant was emptying out). A bit overpriced for the quality. I probably will not return.

I’ve been to this location about 5 times and it gets progressively worse. On this day I had my 11 yr old sun with me and friend. My son ordered the blueberry pancake, he took one bite and made a face«it’s gross» he stated. So I tasted it and my friend did as well. The blueberries were very tart, inedible, naturally my son didn’t eat it. I ordered the combination plate with biscuits and gravy. Microwaved biscuits, spongy and unpleasant and gravy was gelatinous. Even the eggs were bad-am I the only one that thinks it’s ironic? It’s the name of your establishment. Our waitress was nice enough but didn’t care that my son had a full untouched plate. When we left the cashier asked about our visit which I explained in detail to her — to which she looked and me and said«oh, sorry about that.» Nothing, no concern for their quality in food or their customers experience. I’ve given them plenty of chances, I will not be going back to this over priced excuse for a good meal. There are too many places in Austin to find good food. Avoid this one.

The wait wasn’t too bad, considering we went during the peak breakfast time. The food was delicious as well. I don’t remember much about the experience at The Egg and I. I do know it wasn’t horrible. But it wasn’t fabulous. I won’t say no to it again though.

Great overall breakfast. Like that they have some chicken and turkey options for breakfast meats vs. only pork options. I once had sweet potato pancakes here that were a seasonal special, and those were hands down so much better than pumpkin pancakes. I wish I they would offer those on a regular basis. I’ve always had great service here and consistently great food. They have their own yummy bottled hot sauce, and their coffee is awesome!

I gotta give it four stars for the style of breakfast place that it is. Truly somewhere between IHOP/Denny’s and something better, like Café Lago out in Lakeway. But really, what we ordered was what we expected and we cleaned our plates. He had the traditional Eggs Benedict(hard to find a place that offers it BTW), add avocado with ranch potatoes. Loved it. I had the Belgian waffle with two eggs and bacon. Loved it. We had the hazelnut coffee with cream. Loved it. It was $ 35 after everything because you do get a sit down experience and need to tip your waiter, so that’s no surprise. But we didn’t feel rushed and enjoyed two cups of coffee each. We’ll be swinging by again when we want something better than a fast food breakfast.

Decent breakfast place. A bit overpriced for the food. I had a create your own omelette($ 10), bad tasting coffee($ 2.50), and mediocre orange juice($ 3). The food was okay, though nothing to go crazy about. The server was very friendly, though way too eager to get our order, and then forget about us. I probably will not return here.

After driving by this place numerous times and repeating that we should try it some weekend, I’m glad we finally did. It’s a bit snug inside but that’s not a deal breaker for me. I would suggest going early though to avoid the awkward tight squeeze with strangers while you wait. They have free wifi(no password needed) and complimentary coffee refills which right away made me a fan. Better yet? Real half and half!!! Not those annoying room temperature ones I loathe that places like IHOP and even Kerbey Lane insist on using. Come on guys… Can’t we get a petition going to axe those for good? Whose with me?! Another heads up is that the portions are HUGE. Had I known how big the waffle was going to be then I would have skipped adding the eggs and bacon. I was beyond full before I had finished even half of my plate which made the prices that much more reasonable. The waffle I had was golden and delicious with chunks of fresh strawberries, sliced bananas, and whipped cream. It normally comes with walnuts too but you can ask for those to be left off if you don’t care for them or are allergic(as I am). The server made it a point to ask about allergies before I could clarify which I thought was nice. My husband had the Denver omelette with diced ham, green peppers, onions, cheddar, and Jack cheeses with a side of grits and an English muffin. He also ordered a 1 piece side of French toast. We both agreed it wasn’t the best breakfast we had ever had, but it’s certainly better than IHOP. I love the old movie The Egg & I and now I can say that I enjoy the restaurant as well. The food was very good and I’m willing to bet it’s consistent too which is always a plus. We will most definitely revisit this chain since I know they have locations in the Dallas area also.

Love this place! I eat here almost every weekend and have never had a bad experience. The food is great; love the healthy options. The coffee is very tasty and always fresh! The service is top notch. The manager is also super friendly and he makes sure things are running smoothly. Personal faves — raspberry granola pancake and chicken Vera Cruz egg white omelette.

Popped in here after a workout in search of a healthy breakfast. Ordered off of the menu since majority of the dishes were serving grain of some sort. Got three poached eggs, bacon, and spinach. Would have done an omelette but you never know if they are using that liquid egg stuff. The food was good. The bacon was thick cut which was nice spinach and eggs did have full flavor. Plus, everything was cooked perfectly. Great job staff. Wanted juice, however like many average restaurants, the quality of the juices are substandard and no where near fresh squeezed. Despite that little hiccup, I’d return…

I had the Belgian Waffle Eggspress here, and surprisingly, the eggs were not the best part. Let’s break it down. The dish comes with three things: eggs(style of your choice), bacon(or sausage), and a Belgian waffle. I had my eggs scrambled, and while I’m not a trained cook, I’m quite certain I’ve made better scrambled eggs than this. The eggs weren’t /bad/, they just weren’t all that great either. The bacon was /too/crisp and cold, but hey, it’s still bacon. The waffle on the other hand, was perfect! Just the right amount of crispiness on the outside and softness on the inside. Cover that bad boy up in some syrup and you’ve got one hell of a waffle. Food was pricier than what the overall quality and quantity supports. Service was pretty good. You’ll get the check from the wait staff and then you pay at the front. Not enough value or deliciousness for me to come back again, but if you’re craving some breakfast food, this’ll do.
