Though I’m used to thick, doughy bagels I though I would come here to try«bialy» which I had never before had. Although it’s not quite a bagel I cannot get enough of the Serrano bialy with cream cheese and tomato! Sooooo delicious and reasonably priced. The staff is so nice and it’s such a relaxing place to quietly eat a pastry.

*TERRIBLEQUALITYANDSERVICE*** GOUPTHESTREETTOWALTONS***** This was not at all the wonderful experience I had read to be, the service was terrible and the coffee and baked goods left me regretting walking down to Waltons which always delivers satisfactory service and delicious goods. The older woman at the register was clearly annoyed and upset to have to do her job(for what reason I still don’t know? It was WELL before their closing hours and the shop was completely empty…). The coffee was poorly brewed and weak, nothing outstanding which I find odd considering the assortment of local coffee roasters in Austin. I very well could have been drinking folgers. My cookie was alright… As my friends ordered they lacked in tea assortment(I wasn’t surprised), and again for being at least an hour before their closing time posted were out of chai and made it clear that even our inquiry was an inconvenience. They must charge a fortune for their wedding and special ordered cakes to stay in business because I cannot understand how this shops deems it fit to deliver POORQUALITYANDSERVICE. With Waltons up 6th street, or even whole foods at that, I never will recommend or come back to this establishment.

If you are looking for a bakery to make a wedding cake or a cake for another special occasion, look no further than Sweetish Hill. Chrissy made the cake based on a picture that the bride had found on Pinterest. The cake was beautiful!!! It was exactly what the bride was expecting, only better. Chrissy was very responsive to emails regarding the cake and frosting flavors, size, color, etc. We made a few changes at the last minute, but Chrissy was not flustered at all. Not only did the cake look beautiful, but the taste was spectacular! Thank you, Chrissy, for making the wedding even more special because of the cake that you made.

Every year my family gets the Black and White cake for my birthday. It is absolutely wonderful and moist. However, the staff can be not so nice at times but the cake makes up for it.

After accidentally calling the San Jacinto location instead of the W. 6th Street location, the girl who answered rudely hung up on me after asking if the pick up was at the San Jacinto location. This place needs to get a lesson in customer service.

Not bad food but I was appalled this morning to walk in as they open(5 min late, mind you) and be told«sorry, we’re out of eggs.» How the fuck does a bakery that serves breakfast run out of eggs? They had — I shit you not — four people on staff at this tiny place. Part of running a business well is having basic stuff from you menu available when customers are counting on you. How hard is it to stop at the store and pick up some eggs? Send somebody to HEB. God people are retarded.

Sweetish Hill does a fine job in keeping prices low, quality fairly high, and speed consistent. You can get in, get out, and still have enough time to actually enjoy what this Austin bread-laden institution has to offer in the way of sweet, savory, and everything in between. This location definitely boasts an unfortunate setting, as parking on this Southern part of downtown is a mess. I still recommend you drop into this outpost of the 6th street powerhouse and see what you can scrounge up. My favorite offering at SHB is the muffin, or the abundance thereof. The morning glory boasts a hodgepodge of fruit, nuts, and carrots. All for $ 1.50 – a bit smaller than normal, but certainly still a very tasty and energy-dense treat. Less awesome are the sticky buns. A little doughy, a little dry, and boasting not much in the way of nuttage. Actual baguettes and bread here are good, though I am not a huge fan of the crusty, chewy exteriors that are so intrinsic in many a French-style baked good. If you are reading about the 2nd location of this joint, you have probably done some hardcore searching, already been to the original, or have just been in Austin forever and know the Unilocal system. That being said, if you are done your research and have been able to seek this out, drop in for a bite to eat.

I, too, was SOO happy to have Sweetish Hill here at the building(though the company has since moved so I’m no longer there). Usually, I bring my lunch, but on occassion, I forget(sometimes on purpose) so this was my go– place. Their soups are always AMAZING! They taste fresh and are just so, so, so good. They’re changed daily and I’ve had probably at least 10 different varieties – NONE have let me down. That coupled with a ½ sammie and I’m good! Sometimes I even splurge for a cheesecake brownie or gingbread man. Everyone was always super nice and even when it was peak lunch time, the lines always moved fast.

Sooooo glad Sweetish Hill has this satellite location in the building where I work. I am a sandwich person. I have nothing against salads, but the carboholic in me just needs a sandwich at lunch most days. Thus, I’ve been working my way through the sandwiches on the Sweetish Hill menu on a near-daily basis. Chicken salad = win Roast beef = win All of their breads = major win The only downside — I may never venture outside the office for lunch again.
