I should preface this review by saying I was here on a Monday afternoon at 2pm. About 6 people here. With that being said, fast service and good prices. Lots of pool tables and the smokey smell I was warned about is non-existent. I think I will probably come back on some weekend. Nothing here to complain about.

Smoking allowed. Bathrooms not too nasty. Decent jukebox. Lots of pool. Accepts Bellycard, so you get a shirt if you come here a bunch, double points on sunday. Service is hit or miss.

This place is like home away from home to me. The staff are bad ass, the drinks are cold, and lots of great pool tables. I’ve been coming here regularly for the last 7 years. They have always had some kind of pool league, and I’ve been playing league here for as long as I’ve been coming here. This place will always be my spot!

I love this place. The locals are the nicest people. The bartender is awesome and i am so happy I discovered this place. I have met more people in my two visits then the last two years since I relocated to the Buda area from Montgomery, Texas.

Ew, that’s about all I have to say. There is a brick wall of stale cigarette smoke that hits you the second you walk in. Drinks aren’t cheap(at least not as cheap as they should be) but the pool is free. I don’t think I’ll be back for any reason other than I’m dragged kicking and screaming.

Aside from the headache I get from the cigarette smoke, I love this place. Great for people watching. Its the kind if place you’d see someone wearing pajama bottoms and boots, or a Spuds Mackenzie tank top from the 80’s, while drinking a bud lite. Pool, shuffle board, darts & dominoes. Oh, and did I mention cheap drinks. Everything you need to make a great dive bar.

The only reason they got two stars instead of one is because there was a friendly and cute bartender, the bar looked cool and they were making an effort by having live music, but otherwise YUCK! Smoking inside… mind you, I’m a former smoker so I fully know how fabulous it was to smoke inside, but the problem is, now days people just aren’t used to that anymore. Y’all need to get with the times and get a non-smoking sign up in there. That alone will keep me from going back. The bathrooms were pretty yucky and RIGHT by the stage where the dude was playing his lame-o music. So I open the door to the bathroom and all the folks are looking at me — awkward. There was a review earlier on here that said they had cheap drinks, I’m sorry, but to me 2 drinks at $ 15 is not cheap. Not outrageous, but nothing to write home about. Pretty low class folks there when we were there. I love me a dive bar, but come on ladies, make the man take you out of the bar before you start going straight for happy times. Sorry… let’s clean that place up a bit and then I will give it another shot. Kinda sad because it’s not far from my house.

They have something for every night of the week. Live music, Karaōke, Trivia, Live music, and CHEAAAAAP drinks. It isn’t technically in «Austin» Per se but its close enough and its in Hays county so its the only place you can smoke and do all the other stuff. That’s pretty much the only downfall to this place. Smoking. Hays county isn’t too far behind in the smoking ban movement so its only a matter of time. They have a stage, and pool, and jukebox and all sorts of things and the staff is pretty cool. I like coming in, I just super hate smoking. Womp womp. Did I mention CHEAP drinks?

I go to this place because it is one of the few places where you can smoke inside, anywhere. I can drink a beer, shoot some pool and slowly kill my self smoking my fave cigarettes. Word of advice — Dont order anything too complicated for the waitress/bartender, she has no idea how to make anything more complicated than a rum and coke. Clientele is mostly an older crowd — A salty, spirited group reliving younger, happier days. The last couple of times there have been a few groups of younger(under 21-no photo ID checks?) kids in there with the usual loud mouth that has to make sure every one at the bar can hear how awesome of a time you and your buddies/dates are having and how you are the life of the party. But other than the occasional DB, this place has its charm. I think the place gets going a little too late, perhaps they shouldnt wait until 9:30−10 to start karaōke, and the like, but thats me…

I’ve been going to stardust on and off for over 10 years. It’s a great local place and kind of a hidden gem. You can still smoke in the bar which is a pro for some and a con for others. They have pool tables, darts, two bars, And many more attractions. Great place to meet locals

$ 2 Whiskey and Coke and free pool on Tuesdays. Aha, I’ve begun to understand why people go to bars even if there isn’t live music! Megadeth on the jukebox made up for the occasional hip-hop, the folks at adjacent tables were lip-syncing to Steve Miller Band and AC/DC, Tom Petty appeared only once, and luckily no John Cougar Mellon-shite. Sometimes I forget that not everyone is in bands, nor does everyone listen to obscure local music. And smokiness ain’t a bad thing once in a while — a test of the quitter’s resolve, perhaps? Let’s call Stardust Club a grounding experience. Now, to get these folks to a real music club…

As an average american, I work morning hours, and I try to sleep regular ones too. This establishment, does not. I am all for the party life of downtown, and blaring music, just not soo loud I can hear it from inside my house, several blocks away. This place has made my life a waking nightmare! Downtown there are laws banning certain levels of music from being played after 10pm due to their proximity to residential buildings, but here, we have a different story, after 10pm on any given night, monday through sunday, I may be kept awake due to feeling the bass shaking the house, like a drunk frat boy blaring his cheap car stereo and sub right next to my window. I have moved to the inward most room of the house, and it makes no difference, the same effect. This place is an assault to the ears, like rubbing a chalk board against another chalkboard.

I, along with the other degenerates I associate with love coming to this place. Not for the Vegas Bombs but for people watching. The beer prices are cheap and the pool table fees are decent too. Just be prepared to deal with an abundance of cigarette smoke.

My little hangout affectionately called ‘The Dust’ is what it is. It’s an old pool hall filled with smoke and heartache, but I still like it. It’s proximity to my home is, of course, one of the main reasons I frequent the establishment, but don’t get me wrong. If you’re looking for a divey bar without pretensions this is your place. People are mostly friendly and the beers are always cold. I can’t speak to the ladies facilities, but for the men, at least we don’t have to touch anything. Other than that, it’s a cool place to hang out, drink beer and occasionally embarrass yourself at karaōke. Thursdays are also really cool as all the beers(including draft pints) are just $ 2 from 2−7pm. After that, they go to $ 3. Not bad…

Your average old pool hall, but you can still smoke here. They also have a great domino table, plenty of tv’s, good drink specials, and a couple crappy dart boards.

Oh my gosh, so I am all about supporting local business making their own decisions on smoking in the joint or not by damn. My eye balls nearly jumped out and ran off. I looks like someone thought it would be cute to attach 20 smoke machines together and let them go. I mean their is a haze and you wonder if its because you are drunk. The door guy seemed nice but very occupied with who ever he was talking on the phone with. The bartender was rude and short with a take a number attitude. The people in the bar have a why are you in my bar attitude which was apparent when a group of them pointed at my friend and I as we left saying«someone does not fit in.» Oh well back to the hunt for a new bar in South Austin.

Phenomenal place to people watch and eavesdrop, the Stardust Club can feel like a convention hall for carnies. Smoking and sleeveless shirts included. I am not the biggest of fans and when my fiancé announces that it’s time to make our bi-annual pilgrimage, I go begrudgingly. He enjoys $ 2 beers and the anecdotes of seasoned regulars while I rubber neck at the oddly-paired couples on the dance floor. But give me an hour and I warm up to the place and soon see why my fiancé finds such charm within this dive. People are damn friendly. Down to earth. No frills. The smoke can be overwhelming and the bathrooms will give you a shiver, but if you are up for a new experience and a dance with a relic of a cowboy, give it a try. You can’t leave disappointed… the drinks are just too cheap.

Saturday night= $ 4 beers and red watery eyes. This place is one of the few places that you can still smoke inside. I may be spoiled now, because I literally can’t stand it and I used to deal with smokey establishments every weekend. My eyes watered the entire time I was inside this place. Playing pool was nice… that’s about it.

Every time I walk into Stardust I wonder why I’ve allowed myself to mosey into this joint yet again. Then I sit down for«$ 2 any beer in the house Thursdays» and remember exactly why. Cheap beers aside, it has all the novelties one might look for in a local dive bar: pool tables aplenty, darts, a dominoes table, a decent juke box, and my personal favorite — shuffleboard! My friends and I can spend hours there without going home broke. The darts and shuffleboard here are free, but get there early if you wanna snag one of the two coveted shuffleboard tables! Most Thursdays have a local live act, usually country. It’s not my favorite, but get enough beers in me and you’ll find me out on the dance floor showing off my my two-steppin’ skills.(Be warned: missteps here will earn you dirty looks from the blue-hairs, they take their dancin’ seriously!) This place is actually located in Manchaca, TX which means you can smoke in there if that’s your bag. And boy do people take advantage of that! It seems like casual smokers take to chain smoking in there so they can feel like they’re sticking it to the Austin City Council’s smoking ban one long drag at a time.(I, personally, am not a smoker and appreciate the smoking ban because it means I can go out and not leave with a stuffed nose and head-achy from the fumes.) As soon as I walk out the door, into the night’s fresh air, I am reminded of how awesome it is to go home not smelling like an old ashtray. And yet I keep going back, ’cause the mojo’s good and the cold beers just keep on coming.
