Love the atmosphere of this cute little place. Great to study or have a cup of coffee and catch up with friends. I always get the Sriracha salmon toast and chicken Katsu with kale salad and curry. It is super delicious and flavorful. Will definitely recommend.

I had the Yasai on Toast lunch plate. It comes with your choice of two sides. I chose the Kale Salad and Curry. The flavors were very good. The Yasai on toast reminds me of a pizza on Texas Toast. The Kale Salad was fresh with a nice dressing. The Curry was in a small bowl with small pieces of pickled ginger. I ordered a bottle of JuiceLand Recovery Punch, which was $ 7!!!

Coffee shop with good food? Oh my have I found a gem. I throughly enjoyed this cute little place. I love that there are tons of parking spaces versus a ton of other coffee shops in Austin. I tried the salmon toast and the chicken katsu with potato salad and macaroni salad. The salmon toast is absolutely delicious cheesy flavorful goodness. Get it. No question. The chicken katsu was also very good. It was crunchier than most katsus I’ve had but I enjoyed it. The macaroni salad is what surprised me. Think potato salad instead of Mac and cheese. It had slices of apple and cucumber in there and was very refreshing. The actual potato salad was more like a mashed potato. My BF got a curry side and I really liked it. The sides were definitely on the lighter side which complimented the dish as a whole wonderfully. Oh and the rice… I don’t usually care for rice but this rice had some kind of seasoning on it and it was bomb. I got the iced saifa for coffee. It was basically Vietnamese coffee meets vanilla latte. Aka delicious. My BF got the ohayo and that was also great. Is there anything here that’s not? Will be frequenting this spot more. So glad I finally came here.

This place would have been an amazing spot to study at if I were still at college. A short 10 minute drive from campus, this place is hidden next to what seems like an art gallery. Usually, coffee shops serve the usual pastries and bagels, but never had I had the pleasure of amazing food and amazing coffee. I got the Chicken Katsu, the salmon toast, and an ohayo drink. The Katsu came with two sides, I chose curry and macaroni salad. The curry was very tasty, but I feel like there wasn’t enough rice for both the Katsu and the curry. I ended up dipping some of my Katsu in the curry which was a good combination. The salmon toast was also terrific, and everyone I know always Instagrams pictures of this. It was well worth the hype as it was AMAZING. The coffee was slightly bitter and full flavored. Delicious coffee. If you want something sweeter go for the iced saifa. I’m coming back here for more for sure.

Great coffee shop during the day time. It’s pretty dark at night and can be hard if you’re trying to study, but the atmosphere is nice. The food is good. I like the curries and the toasts. I also recommend coffee or the matcha tea. Yes.

The fried chicken thigh special is one of my favorite things. Everything I have tried is super tasty and I love all of the fun and interesting flavors. It’s easily one of my top spots for lunch. Totally worth the drive East.

Sa-ten is what happens when you combine hipster Austin with trendy Japanese coffee shops. Location: It’s a little out of the way for UT students, but I definitely feel this is a great place to hang out, study and relax because it’s quiet and spacious. Interior décor is so cute and cozy with lots of space for groups. There’s also an area with board games. Food: The toast items are really good(particularly the Sriracha Smoked Salmon). I’ve also gotten the breakfast yogurt($ 7), which had a small portion and was quite average. Drinks: I’ve only tried the Ohayo and Lavender Mocha. Both drinks are delicious, but I would definitely recommend the Lavender Mocha more because the lavender really stands out. On the other hand, the Ohayo, which is a cappuccino with brown sugar, didn’t really taste that unique considering it was a house special. I didn’t really taste the brown sugar at all. Price: This is probably Sa-Ten’s downfall. It’s definitely a bit pricey considering the portions you are getting. But really, with the combination of great atmosphere and good food/drinks, it’s worth the occasional splurge.

Loved it! Loved it! Looooved it! That’s a gem I discovered on my way to the airport — what’s a better place to kill 40 minutes before a delayed flight? What is this place? A place for food and coffee next to art studios. What to they offer? Light and not-so-light Japan-inspired food and great coffee. The presentation is awesome and the taste is there to match. There are a lot of table inside to sit and get some work done, totally beats overcrowded airport! What I ordered: a cappuccino and a toast with«egg spread»(read: light and flavorful egg salad with melted cheese on top of a super soft piece of white bread). Yuuummmm!

How do I not know about this place? Cutest little coffee shop that has a really interesting menu. I haven’t been able to try the food because I only popped in to get my energy revving again after eating at Bangers on Rainey. Pleasant folks who run the store and a solid cappuccino. I shall be back!

Situated in a renovated old warehouse plaza, Sa-Ten is a hipster café that serves Japanese-inspired coffee and food. Despite of the interesting concept and the perfect brunch, Sa-Ten is unfortunately marred by its high prices. My drink of choice was the signature Ohayo, the brown sugar cappuccino named as «good morning» in Japanese. At a standard size of $ 4.50, Ohayo would be good if it were labeled as a regular latte, but the interesting concept of a brown sugar cappuccino did not distinguish itself from its taste. The sriracha mayo smoked salmon toast was a flavorful delight with baked cheese topped with small pieces of smoked salmon, but the price of $ 7.99 was staggering. The ambiance and the service were top-notch, and the outdoor plaza patio makes it a good place for a hangout in a good weather. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Sa-Ten other than a venture to resolve curiosity because the food quality and portion were not proportional to the price level. — tl;dr version: 1) Interesting concept of Japanese coffee café 2) Overpriced food

In my language Sa-Ten means«Ours» and immediately I found myself liking this place. To me it has become a semi-sanctuary where I can be at peace. There seems to be an unwritten rule, like walking into a library, that one must pick up their feet when they walk as to not make extra noise, and not to speak too loudly. Which is not to say that people don’t or are discouraged to talk here. In fact I’ve seen many groups collaborate on projects, however, everyone seems to be aware that this is a quiet zone. The karaage is a favorite of mine and it’s the only food item I’ve tried on the menu just because I always order it instead of trying something else. I’m going to have to break that habit. It has never been crowded, they have a pretty good sized seating outdoors as well, a bar top set alongside the railing. I come here to get away from the noise of the city, I’m glad its out of kind of out of the way, and isn’t easily seen from the street. The interior design is pleasing to the eye. It is stylish but not overbearingly trendy nor minimalist. The décor is tasteful, warm and welcoming yet not one of those cozy cafes you find yourself falling asleep in. There’s a good amount of parking.

Cute café in a more remote area of East Austin. I love their home style pork cutlet plates and other hot foods they have here. The coffee is a bit bland for my taste. They use a darker Brazillian roast for their espressos and I’m not a huge fan of that. The décor is gorgeous. Looks like a hip coffee shop in Tokyo more than something in Austin. There’s always seating and the wifi is good. Not much else to complain about.

When I’m at Sa Ten I feel like I’m in a desert. It’s a good feeling; it’s as if I’ve escaped the hustle and bustle of university and sought refuge in a very aesthetically-pleasing café. I love how the place looks. It feels so modern with their tall wooden doors and steel bar stools. Industrial. Sleek. But also inviting. But you don’t really care about how the place looks right? How was the FOOD? I had the chicken katsu sandwich($ 6). They remind me of cucumber sandwiches because the crust is sliced off and their sauce is refreshingly cool(kewpie mayo, yogurt, and Worcestershire sauce combo??). However, I found the chicken to be a little dry. Could have used more sauce maybe? The green onions on top was good because it added a nice flavor! On the side are 3 pickled veggies(pickle, okra, carrot). I like pickled vegetables but if you don’t like pickles… you probably won’t like these. My boyfriend had the teriyaki curry chicken toast($ 7.50). The toast was thick and tasted like delicious carb-y goodness. There was more of a distinct flavor than the chicken katsu. I can see why their toast is more expensive! The overall atmosphere is very conducive to working. It’s quiet and they have nice relaxing instrumental music. They also have cards, jenga, and some board games. We sat outside(they have a counter with barstools and 3 tables outside) because the weather was so nice. I felt like I was looking at the desert because I was looking out to the sandy rocky ground. yeah okay I don’t know I’m weird. My boyfriend and I have vowed to return to try their lunch/dinner menu! and that special latte of theirs…

Yasss to everything about this place! I so appreciate a place that doesn’t get too crowded, has plenty of parking, and delicious coffee and Japanese food. Sa-Ten nailed the Japanese coffee shop vibe, from the squirrel decorations everywhere to the Japanese wood colors to the tv converted into a fish tank… everything is perfect. Their coffee is legit. Love the Iced Vanilla Latte and the Iced Saifa. And definitely get something to eat. Their toasts are godlike! My eyes roll back every time I take a bite out of the toast. Chicken Kara-age is solid, as well as the dinner plates. Their curry is true to Japan. One of the few places where I’ll say«Take my money!» PS — Bring a jacket as the place gets chilly sometimes.

Sa-Ten is a hidden gem in East Austin and I am so glad I came across this place. Sa-Ten has quickly become my favorite coffee shop in Austin for numerous reasons. One, Sa-Ten is located in a really neat environment that has a nice aesthetic exterior. The ambience feels very modern and there are about three or four tables for outside seating. Second, the interior is equally as nice. Again, the interior has a very modernized Japanese vibe, which I absolutely love because it is so unique from other coffee shops in ATX. The big windows also provide a plethora of natural sunlight and significantly add to the modern ambience. Third, the coffee is amazing! I have had the cold brew and vanilla latte. Both were delicious and a great caffeine boost for rough mornings. Fourth, the food here is surprisingly really good. I say«surprisingly,» because most coffee shops I have been to have mediocre food. Sa-Ten serves a lot of various Japanese food and snacks. I would highly recommend the toast, which comes in a variety of flavors. I come here at least once a week and I never regret it. Thank you for being the best coffee shop in ATX, Sa-Ten. You da real MVP.

What a delightful Coffee House/Café with Japanese inspired eats! Came here last Saturday to grab a quick late lunch. They have seats set up inside & outside, but we opted to seat inside because it was sooo hot out! Also, plenty of parking in the lot. The eats: A variety Japanese inspired thick toast(topped with teriyaki curry chicken, smoked salmon, nori & tama etc.) Make it into a lunch set & choose two sides from kale salad, potato salad, fuji apple & mac salad(very refreshing) and Japanese curry. We had the teriyaki curry chicken toast with the lunch set. Teriyaki curry chicken with melted cheese & topped with Japanese pickles. Tasty chicken and scrumptious sides. This set may look small, but can definitely be filling with the thick toast. A little on the pricy side, but I have seen similar prices at bubble tea establishments(thick toast is a big thing in taiwan). Next up, we had the chicken katsu set. The chicken katsu was delicious and breaded just right! The best part had to be the katsu! The set comes with a square block of rice. If you decide to order the side of curry, there probably won’t be enough rice for you to mix! Overall, a comfortable, fun place to hang out! A little deep into east austin, but worth the adventure.

Love the concept of this coffeeshop – I feel like I’ve been transported to Japan though I’ve never been before. Located in deep East Austin, it’s quite a drive from where I live but it was well worth it. The eclectic décor is a treat in itself with squirrel wallpaper and a old tv set used as a fish tank… that’s a first. There’s also succulents on every table potted in tin cans(what a novel idea!). I ordered their macchiato/espresso set which came with a cute tin tray lined with newspaper from Japan(talk about the details!) and a mini-spoon for stirring. That all came to an approximate total of 3 dollars – reasonable in my opinion. The food was also tasty though small for 7+ dollars. They offer a variety of open-faced toasts – the one I chose was with smoked salmon that was precut to four slices making it very easy to pull apart into bite-size pieces. When I make another stop here, I’ll probably stick to just the coffee knowing that the food is a little steep for my taste.

O-HAY-YO! Alot funner when you yell it out loud, but yah… its the coffee I got from this fine establishment. Sa-Ten is a great coffee place good japanese bites to go along with your beverage of choice. Not only do they have coffee choices, but they also have quality teas, ginger beer, and juices. This definitely does have the hipster warehouse look and feel. There’s plenty of places to sit and study plus electrical outlets to plugin your device. It’s a semi-quiet place to study. There’s music in the background, but not the obnoxious kind. FOOD: Chicken Katsu Plate with curry, rice and kale salad was delicious. COFFEE: Ohayo was a great cup of coffee since it wasn’t overly sweet and the right bitterness for me. It was a smooth. I’m happy about this Sa-Ten experience.
