We’ve been to this restaurant a few times. They handle groups of 10 to 30 people wonderfully. Most of our experiences here have been very nice. One night the building plumbing was not working properly and you could smell sewage in the bar area, where we were having happy hour. We rushed out of there as soon as possible, but management didn’t offer to comp any of our items despite the fact that the men’s bathroom wasn’t available for my husband to use or wash his hands, and we had to eat and drink in the midst of the horrible smell. Other than that experience, most of our other experiences have been positive. The sliders are great, as are the seared ahi tuna and the crab BLT. Wine choices are nice. Happy hour is pretty good, but they’ve reduced the number of wines(no bubbly) available for HH, and the prices are only $ 1 less than the regular menu. For more reviews, check out my blog:

Oh my… This is where I celebrated my most recent birthday. I was pretty surprised because it is very rare that we go to chain restaurants for celebrations, especially birthdays. I was blown away. It was even better than Eddie V’s! Ambiance: great… awesome lighting, felt warm and cozy despite it being 20 – 30 degrees outside FOOD& drinks: a few glasses of Riesling 2 Caesar salads — yum! my husband had the 12 oz ribeye Bleu cheese I had the Petite filet bleu cheese — probably one of, if not THE best steak ever — prepeared medium rare PLUS — if you complain about your steak, rethink how you order it… for a steak to be cooked till brown — is a complete waste of a perfectly good and pricy cut of meat. again, just my opinion. sides: Au gratin Potato and Creamed Spinach All delicious!!! At the end of the night my husband and I were approached by a manager to said you two win the most elegant couple of the night … she didnt know it was my birthday — but it was a very sweet compliment. Valet brought my car back and there were no damages to my wonderful surprise. I’ve learned my lesson at Stephen F. Austin Inter. hotel while dining at Roaring Fork which they did not take responsibility for. Learn from my misfortune. always do a walk around your car, always! and order this steak ;)

I went there last night for dinner 12⁄27. Everything was amazing!!. I have eaten at just about all the fine dining restaurants in Austin and this is one of the best! The calamari appetizer is a must have! Everything was amazing from the appetizer, lobster bisque, wedge salad, steak and lobster, lobster mac and cheese, and crème Brule and chocolate lava cake. The server Jess was excellent and David the manager was phenomenal!

Sadly we were disappointed over and over again this evening at Ruth’s due to the low quality service. Go to Trulucks or Perrys. Food is just as good if not better and service is better. If you are craving Ruth’s make the trip to Dallas. We regularly get good service at that location. Trust me it’s worth the drive. We waited over thirty minutes for drinks and our appetizer(we got salad and soup first). Then the manager, Jason Bailey, came out to apologize– the Ahi we were waiting on had been over sold for the night and they were out. The drinks took forever because they were«looking for honey» ?!? Then dinner came out except it was short a lobster tail. When the waitress came back to check on us(midway they meal not after it had been delivered as you would expect) and we could finally tell her about the missing lobster. After a 10 minute wait she came back to tell us that she was new and had accidentally ordered the wrong meal(sirloin and add a lobster tail instead of the surf and turf special). But that our second tail would be out in a minute(ignoring the fact that the rest of our meal was done). We asked for the manager(again) who came out 10 – 15 minutes later and apologized. He took our bill while we waited ANOTHER10 – 15 minutes, brought back our bill saying he removed the charges for everything we had issues with and my husband in a hurry to leave paid the bill. But the price didn’t seem right since NOTHINGINOURORDERWASCORRECTEXCEPTTHESALADANDSOUP. As we were leaving, I checked the bill to find the mis-ordered entrée still on the bill-(ironically it was ~3.00 more than the entrée I actually ordered) and the manager had essentially only removed the tuna and«extra lobster tail» both items that we didn’t get. When I pointed this out to the manager he apologized but we didn’t wait around to get it fixed. FAILFAILFAIL. All in all the good was good, not amazing, but better than average. But the overall experience was horrible. We were comped with a 50 gift card to Ruth’s(Austin only) and in NO way worth dealing with the overall incompetence. Or the approx 45 minutes it took to get our bill straightened out. Go to Trulucks or Perrys. Food is just as good if not better and you get what you order, and it doesn’t take 45 minutes so the bill reflects what you were served.

Visiting Austin for the first time, we ate here for Christmas dinner as it was one of the few restaurants open that night. I was really excited to try the scallops but the waitress regretfully informed me that they were out. Oh well, so I tried the swordfish entrée. The swordfish was fairly moist(I thought it might be dry) and the stuffing on top was delicious. Finally, I had a crème brûlée for dessert and was not disappointed.

Going from 4 stars to 5 stars. I was the first few to try their new seafood tower and for around $ 50ish, it’s a steal! You get crab, lobster, shrimp and all the good stuff. Service is amazing. It comes with towels and all. Guess I’m going to stop going to trulucks, and start going here more often for my seafood fix.

Awesome steak if you can afford the awesome price. The fillet side of the Porterhouse for two was great, but the strip side had a bit too much fat and gristle for me. It would have been nice to have more veggie side choices but the creamed spinach was very good.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday and he scored mega points for this experience. It is now our favorite restaurant. We got there early and I’m so glad we did. We sat in this lovely nook area and ordered drinks and chatted. It was so quiet and we could actually hear one another! The bartender came over and introduced himself as Buddy and asked if I would like to try his special blend of Bloody Mary. As it turns out, that’s my drink of choice. All I can say is «OMG, delicious!!! Seriously, if you like your drink w/a little zip, you have got to try it. They took us back early and the booth was perfect… they had little birthday messages all over the table cloth and I felt like a princess. The service was extraordinary and the waitress was very conscience of when it was appropriate to approach the table… I really appreciated her thoughtfulness and attention to detail. Now the food… I have a severe allergy to shellfish and people that have this severe reaction can tell you that cross-contamination is always your forethought. The waitress let the chef know and they took extreme precaution when handling my food… I had no problems at all… I can’t tell you what a relief it was that they took my allergy as serious as I did. And the steak was PERFECT… the most tender, flavorful steak I’ve ever eaten. You won’t be sorry if you eat here… I promise you. Best night of my life!

Came here on a date and was very glad this is where my date brought me. The wine selection was excellent. The sides and apps were delish and the steak was amazing. They cooked it to specification and the taste was amazing. They were out of the dessert we wanted… so order again if you’re dining later in the night. Will come again.

This is one of my top five Ruth’s Chris steakhouses of all time. On a very infrequent basis, I have been coming here for many years. First of all the ambience is unrivaled. You can have a conversation, date, dinner, whatever you want, like there is nobody else around. The service, attention to detail, and perception on the part of the staff is unequaled, to be honest! The steak is always prepared and presented absolutely perfect! The appetizers, sides, and anything and everything else is just perfect. Can’t get any better than that. Keep up the good work! Can’t wait to come back any and every time. All the best!

Still my favorite steakhouse, but only if you get the porterhouse for two. Today I tried their $ 8 happy hour. Got a steak sandwich which was great. My wife got the seared tuna and loved it as well. Can’t beat the prices. I’d definitely like to come back and try the prime burger.

We went to celebrate our one year anniversary made the reservation about 8:30 on a Saturday. We had a great table booth in the corner the server was great just late on our drinks. We received the appetizers before our drinks. The dessert was on the house so we were happy campers;)

Best dinner I have had in a while! Everything including the restaurant, service and food was so perfect. I had the petite fillet and it was absolutely delicious! The sides(mashed potatoes in particular) were really good as well. I was too full from my main course to enjoy dessert but everyone on my table loved it as well. Definitely recommended and absolutely LOVED it!

Really Disappointed. Chain has gone down in quality. I’ve been really disappointed with my last 2 visits. My last visit was on Easter. The waiter messed up our order and my steak came Medium Rare(I ordered Medium). If you’re gonna pay $ 50 for a steak, it should be cooked right the first time. Needless to say, it came back Medium Well and dry. Sheesh. The previous time, the hostess sat us in the very back and our server disappeared for about 20 minutes during our meal. I ordered a Mojito(not a complicated drink) and the bartender screwed that up as well. The remedy — ‘Well, Sir, let me take that off your bill.“ This used to be a great chain. The Austin location sucks. It lacks quality and a commitment to excellence. At Ruth’s Chris Austin, mediocrity reigns. Excellence has gone by the wayside. Don’t waste your money. Go somewhere else. ..

**HH Review** I am the conquistadette of all local Happy Hours so here goes another one. We made a special date to meet at Ruth’s after seeing their mouth watering HH menu and maaaaaaaaaaaaan did it ever NOT disappoint. You must disregard the fact that they have the worst set up bar ever(8 – 10 seats with backs facing the door, so weird) and that it’s got a little early 90s vibe that totally needs a reno. We opted for some comfy seating around a small table and dug into both menus. Absolutely LOVED my pickled ginger martini and my date’s blueberry drink was fab. The food? Spicy lobster and kabob salad which were return worthy but did not even light a candle to that filet sandwich yall. OMGEEEEEEE! I don’t even know how they make a dime on that thing. The meat inside was so delicious and tender and piled high. On a fresh baked and then grilled bun with whatever sauce they put on it that God made. I mean there is no delicious like this anywhere for $ 8. This is a MAN’S kind of happy hour. I can’t wait to take my man meat there and impress him with this red meat HH find.

Yeah yeah yeah, I know… it’s a chain. I DON’T CARE! One of the best steaks in town. Great bar/cocktail area, lots of room. It is because of this place that I pan broil my steaks at home in butter. SOOOOOOOOOOO tasty! All the sides are fabulous steak house sides but my favs are potatoes au gratin and mushrooms… heaven. Also, don’t forget to get a Bloody Buddy. It’s like a bloody mary, except 10 times better. Only problem is I can drink about 6 of them. Screw it, I’m going to go get one now. See ya!

I visited Ruth Chris after work one day for happy hour. I absolutely love this place. They offer specialties like spicy lobster which is kinda a play on fried calamari, but so much better because it’s lobster! The shrimp cocktail is also amazing! Each shrimp was practically the size of my hand & were so sweet. Most of their happy hour offerings are also only $ 8& this includes cocktails such as the pomegranate martini & the Ruth’s Manhattan. The atmosphere at this Ruth Chris location is also really nice. Dark lighting with booths and high tops & some nights they even have a little live music going on. Definitely a nice place to go for an upscale happy hour but still at a decent price. Oh & say hi to Sal. He’s the new GM& super friendly!

I’ve been here before doing it steak style and we obviously know they’ve got that down… so I think I’ll do this review non steak style. Beef Tenderloin Skewer — this was amazing. I hate to overuse this word but I feel it is a pretty good way to explain how I feel. The beef was SO tender. The best part was there was no definitely no battle here between me in the skewer on who wins the meat. The meat came straight off the skewer with an easy bite. The flavor was simple you could embrace the quality of the meat. Gumbo — this was explained to me as not your typical gumbo. I actually thought it was pretty good. The okra was not too soft and mushy and the flavor tasted infused. I actually liked that it was not as thick so it was light on the stomach. Garlic Mashed potatoes — nice and creamy with a yummy touch of melted butter swimming on the outside — perfect to make the potatoes even creamier. Scallops with mushroom risotto — I’ve had my share of undercooked and overcooked risotto and this one was cooked perfectly. That’s all I have to say. It added a nice touch to the well cooked scallops. Chocolate turtle cheesecake — decadent. Very rich and creamy. Don’t let the size fool you. I almost want to say it’s so rich you could even share it with someone. Definitely going to come back for those tenderloin skewers. Mmm mmm.
