Holy bejesus diabetus. I’m a northern boy who was fixin’ for some pie to complement the 2 pounds of BBQ I just devastated at Black’s, and this spot fit the bill just right. First off, I absolutely loved the venue. I don’t even know if there is a word to describe it’s theme. Basically, it is filled with vintage furniture, bright colors, and dream catchers. I don’t know how it works, but it is beautiful and cozy, appropriate for every situation — except maybe guy’s night out, but the pies change all that. I had the Cherry Pie, and Sona P. had the Texas Trash, which was comprised of coconut, chocolate chips, graham crackers, pretzels and caramel. The two best damn pies I have ever had in my life. We had them warm, and as they melted in our stomachs, so too did our hearts. I don’t know the nutrition information, but then again, IDGAF. Everything from the crust to the filling(s) was phenomenal, and to top it off, the service was great. Do yourself a favor and go here. If you are in Austin for 1 day and you want dessert, go here. Venue(^_^) Options(^_^) Service(^_^) Taste(^_^) Bang for buck(^_^) Glad I came. I might have to move to Austin.

Cute little place with a few tables. I ordered the Junk Berry that costed me $ 5.25 per slice as recommended by other Unilocalers and supposedly their best seller. The price ranges of the pie were $ 4.25 — 5.25. I understand why this pie was the higher end of the cost spectrum. I ordered this pie to-go and it came in a small plastic container. The slice of pie was a pretty small piece too. I thought the pie was just«okay» or a little below okay. I took a bite out of it and was uninterested in finishing the entire slice. It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t a pie that I would like to eat in one sitting from start to finish and even lick my fork clean. I brought it home from Austin to California and it’s sitting in my fridge. I will finish it later tonight, hopefully it held up well from my flight.

So glad we found this place. A wide variety of authentic pies. Love their junk berries and pecan pies. The chicken pot pie is divine.

At first she was afraid but now she’s a believer. That was my wife’s experience. She’s not a pie fan and it’s low on her list of desserts. After eating at Royers, she was a convert. We chose Not My Mom’s Apple Pie and the Sweet ‘N’ Salty. The crumbles on the Not My Mom’s were the best I’ve ever had. The Sweet ‘N’ Salty was like just a dark, dirty chocolate pie with little light caramel morsels inside. The salt on contrasted well with the sweet flavors. Both pies really delivered and I would come here again. These pies were so good I didn’t regret passing on a la mode. I also tried the Sin-A-Mon Coffee, but it wasn’t much Cinnamon and wasn’t great coffee. I won’t take away a star for average coffee only because this is a pie place, not a coffee shop.

OK, so I didn’t know that I loved pie. I don’t have a super sweet tooth. I usually take a few bites of my dessert and leave it to my husband. Oh how wrong I was. Coming here for a sweet treat, I was stopped in my tracks by the stunning array of pies. The apple pie was probably one of my top desserts I have ever had, crispy, sweet, delicious. The sweet and salty tasted that warm melting chocolate with caramel and sea salt. The coffees were good too. Now I need another excuse to come to campus and eat pie. I’m sure I can find one.

This place is not worth the money. I came with a couple of friends and we’re pretty pumped to try out this pie place near campus. We decided to eat lunch there, so we went ahead and got savory pies. First thing we noticed was these pies did not look very fresh — I don’t want to go as far as insinuating that they keep them frozen, but they had to reheat the pies for us in the microwave… crust on my veggie pie was soggy and tasted overly eggy. The filling tasted decent, but all together not worth the $ 5.50 for a very tiny slice that fails whatsoever to fill you up. Unsatisfied, I figured that perhaps their sweet pies were better, so I got the strawberry rhubarb pie. It tasted better than my savory pie, but again the portion was small for the price and they reheated it in the microwave for me, so it was soggy. I expect a certain level of quality, comfort, and sinfulness when I pay as much as I did for pies. Royer’s failed to meet those expectations with its subpar taste, quality, and portions(especially considering their prices). Despite having two [tiny] slices or pie, chips(part of their lunch combo with the savory pie), and tea, I left this place hungry and unsatisfied. And I am generally not one to have a big appetite.

Great service, cute décor, delicious pie. Sharing a piece of Texas Trash(which is like a Girl Scout Samoa cookie on steroids) and an ice cold glass of milk with your sweetie is a little slice of heaven.

OMG! I think I died and went to Heaven. I asked the woman who worked there what was her favorite pie. She told us Blueberry Lemon and Crème; she was not wrong. It was delicious! Perfectly crumbly. They also have this amazing menu item where they will mash up the pie and Amy’s(which is this awesome ice cream shop local to Austin as well) Ice Cream into a delectable dessert! The pies here are also served hot or cold to feed the hungry kid inside you.

Oh c’mon, there’s nothing about pie that’s good for you — baked flour with sugared fillings? Hop aboard that diabetes gateway. But you know, life’s too short to be logical all the time. Why wonder if it would have been worth a shot? If food is art and restaurants are museums, then this Pie Haven on 29th St is Disneyland Drag. You won’t find Ms Tara’s Junkberry as the finale at Austin’s latest prix fixe experience, but maybe it should be. Incidentally, am I the only one who read«Round Top» as «Round Rock?» The parking & hours here may require a little planning, the venue itself is like an old homey coffeehouse, and you’ll probably wind up with a mild case of sticker-shock after paying for a couple of slices. But it’s also easy to imagine the Pillsbury Doughboy merrily eating pie here, and doing that«Hee-hee» thing like Michael Jackson. Now that would be perfectly logical.

The Sweet & Salty might just as well be called pie crack… Had one bite of the Lemon Blueberry and was immediately taken back to fond childhood memories of holidays, family and friends. I grew up in New England eating my Grammy’s homemade pies and until now, I had thought nothing could compare. I was wrong. Thank you Royers Pie Haven!!!

Went here because of all the awesome reviews AND I just happened to move a couple blocks away… needless to say it lived up to the expectations of other reviews. A new lady that just started working there helped us and she was the nicest most down to earth person, which is why I bumped it from 4 stars to 5! The pie I received was the cookie dough pie and it was great. We were told to preheat the oven to 350 and place it in the over for 10 – 15 minutes. The pie itself was good but a little too sweet for me personally, but my sister loved it! It was a little expensive being around $ 30, but I’m glad we stopped there and got it. Next time I go back I’ll be sure to try all the other flavors but most likely get a slice instead of a whole pie!!! They are HUGE!!!

The pie here is gooooooood! We stopped by for a slice of cherry and the Sweet & Salty and both did not disappoint! The cherry pie was the perfect balance of sour and sweet with nice big chunks of cherries throughout with a nice sprinkle of cinnamon on the top. The Sweet & Salty is RICH and DECADENT… a delicious chocolate pie with surprisingly big specs of crunchy sea salt with each bite. We’ll need to come back here when we’re in town to try the Junkberry and the Texas Trash pie!

I went in here on Saturday afternoon after the Austin Clean Sweep — I was in desperate need of a good snack! I had this spot on my bookmarks and they were open so we went for it. The spot is just west of the drag and campus area. It is small, quaint and super adorable décor on the inside! They had savory pies, sweet pies and some specialty drinks on the menu. They have a couple of tables outside to sit and more on the inside. Steve H and I decided to each get a slice of the Hee Haw which is a savory pie with egg, sausage, bacon, onion and cheddar cheese. We also got a slice of the Texas Trash sweet pie to share. The Hee Haw was pretty good … I thought the slices were a bit small, but not a huge deal. The Texas Trash pie was my favorite of the two for sure! Probably because it was the sweet one and well … I have a sweet tooth … just about ALL the time. The Texas Trash is pecans, coconut, chocolate chips, butterscotch, caramel, pretzel pieces … and probably a lot more all in one pie … it was so sweet, salty and kind of gooey at the same time! The crust on both were great too! I can’t wait to come back a dive into some more of the sweet pies!

Went there today to sample some pies for a tiered birthday tower dessert for a milestone bday party. We took four flavors home for sampling: peach, Apple, key lime and Texas trash. Each was just ok. Nothing special with the exception of key lime which was sub par, as others reported in their reviews. Crusts as others have detailed is not very good. Person behind the counter was unhelpful and borderline rude and unfriendly. My summary: expensive, passable quality. Probably along the lines of a small chain bakery. Definitely not what would be expected from a high-end artisan pie bakery. A disappointment. I will go another route for the milestone birthday dessert. This data is a collective report from one person who doesn’t like dessert(but is an amateur baker) and one who loves dessert, particularly pies.

I had pie for dinner the other day. When’s the last time you can say you had pie for dinner? Because I had pie for dinner, and it was rad. Royers focuses on savory and fruit pies. I’m a huge cream pie fan. The lack of chocolate cream or anything like it disappoints me greatly. But whatever. Unless you’re completely a cream-pie-or-bust person, Royers has some tasty pie. I had the Junk Berry, which was a bunch of different berries and some other good stuff, like peaches and apples or something. I don’t remember. Order it; it’s good. There was whipped cream and ice cream available for the top. I got whipped cream, because whipped cream is good. I also had some kind chicken margherita pie as the savory dinner-pie. That was also delicious. It was like a margherita pizza but with layer upon layer of cheese. Every pie brought into Royers has to be warmed up, so unfortunately, the chicken margherita pie got a little puddle of grease on the plate. It was delicious, but clearly proved Royers’ weakest link: this would have been better had it been made in-house, fresh, not warmed up by the slice. I keep waffling between a 3-star and a 4-star review for Royers, but the lack of cream pies(which don’t really need warming up at all and seem to be the best fit for a by-the-slice pie joint!) and the greasy-puddle make this perhaps a solid 3.5-star. Also, free wifi. Free wifi is good. Go eat pie for dinner anyway, despite the lack of cream pies. Pie for dinner! Pie for dinner.

A lab mate’s birthday was today, and a grad student thought it would be fun to get pie instead of a cake, and suggested Royer’s since she’d heard of it. So, yesterday we went there, picked out 2 pies(Not your Mama’s apple and Junkberry, paid for them, and arranged to pick them up at noon today. Cost for 2 pies? $ 60. Wow. Today, at noon we went to pick them up. Different person at the counter than yesterday, but he found the paperwork for the 2 pies we had bought, boxed them up, then tells us they’re frozen and it’ll take about 3 hours for them to thaw. We told him we had come by yesterday and told the people there then that we planned to eat pie right after lunch. He said, Oh, ok, and got thawed pies out of the display case. No problem there. We got to my truck and the grad student with me said«We should have them cut the pies for us». So she went back in, and they did that. The pies were dynamite — everyone loved them. So, why not 5 stars? Because, 1) $ 30 for a pie is just too darn much; 2) They should have had their act a little more together when we came back at the appointed time to pick up our pies. But, man, those were good pies. And I’m not someone who gets super-excited about pie.

We ordered cheery and pecan pie. Cherry pie in a mason jar was $ 2.5. It was mainly«canned» kind of cherries. Too sweet for us. The pecan pie made it up! The mini pecan pies were $ 5 each. They were delicious. Love it! If you don’t want high blood sugar, avoid the cherry pie.

I’m back… On Unilocal, that is. Royers, and in the brief hour I was here, has left me in a blissful sugar coma. We first called in to see if they carried the elusive rhubarb pie, and yes! Yes. Cute, quaint country-meets-hip décor. This store reels you in for a sweet mid afternoon snack. I would bring a date here and have a romantic time, sharing the generous slice of pie and a heap of Amys ice cream to top. Wooden utensils provided, which I promise adds flavor to the pie. Actually when I think about it, this would be a great place after a breakup. Comfy couch, delicious comfort pies. So indulgent! Also they have samples of baked goods(I think they rotate). I had something with sweet and salty cookie delicious! The girl at the counter was super nice and helpful. I feel like this place will boom soon.
