This is by far my go-to restaurant in Austin! Originally fell in love with the Scottsdale, AZ location! Our menu favorites: kettle of green chili pork stew, green chili mac n cheese, and frozen huckleberry margaritas! Wish this location had a patio!

Big ass burger was amazing. The bacon was cut, seasoned, and cooked to perfection. If you’re looking for a GOOD meal, come here. Atmosphere was nice too.

First time to dine at the roaring fork. It was a very pleasant experience! Tortilla soup is really good, the roasted chicken and dressing was to die for and they had good wine selections as well. Very nice atmosphere. The service was adequate but our waiter was not as engaging as you would expect at a place like that. Maybe he was having an off night. All in all, very good and we will go again!

This review is regarding our table service and nothing to do with the food. The food was excellent, but our server was completely out of line and ruined our meal and made things so incredible awkward. Never in my life have I felt so disrespected by a server, especially when we’re at a higher end restaurant. Our server(don’t remember his name, but he was quiet diaphoretic which made no sense because it wasn’t hot inside the restaurant) took my drink order and came back 20 minutes later empty handled to tell me they couldn’t make a Sazerac(Rye Whiskey, Bitters, and Absinthe). 20 minutes to be told we can’t make your drink. Then I ordered a Bourbon neat, which came served in a hot, sweaty, straight from the dishwasher glass. Clearly not to my liking nor expectations at a higher end restaurant. Later in the dinner our server also spilled water on my co-workers iPhone. Because of all this our table had a conversation about tipping and how tips should not be expected, especially from poor service. When our checks came we split the bills individually for corporate reimbursement reasons and signed, leaving the black folders on the table while we wrapped up our evening. The server grabbed the bills prior to us leaving and minutes later came back to our table to inform us that multiple payments did NOTLEAVETIPS, informing us that gratuity was not included and to make sure everything was«okay» and that we were sure we realized we didn’t each leave a tip. I let him know this was extremely rude of him to even bring up this topic to a customer and that I didn’t leave him a tip because of the poor service I received. He didn’t seem to understand why someone who received poor service wouldn’t leave a tip, apparently it’s always expected regardless. We left moments later and I passed by the general manager when we exited, but I didn’t feel his poor judgement was worth him losing his job or being suspended by his manager. I just can’t get over the fact that the server checked us on not leaving gratuity. You’re not my barber or my massage therapist, you’re not obligated to receive a tip if you don’t provide excellent service. I was so appalled by what happened that I can’t leave this place more than one star. I wanted to tell his manager to put him in line and apologize to us, but instead we will just never give this restaurant our business again.

About the only bad thing I COULD complain about was the lack of parking, but that’s to be expected for such an amazing downtown restaurant. The dinner for two I experienced began with a generous portion of mussels and chorizo. The combination of flavor and texture was impressive. It’s hard to screw up stake and potatoes, but what I had blew every conception out of the water. Everything was so well seasoned and flavorful that I didn’t dare have any leftovers to take home. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that wants a lovely downtown experience and an even better reason to dress up.

Went for my birthday with friends and had an absolutely amazing time. Friendly staff that truly made me feel special. Food was amazing– highly recommend the Bacon Wrapped Pork Loin and Muscles with Chorizo. Very quick service and an over all great experience!

Enjoyed the visit at Roaring Fork. I’m going to start with the bad. 1) The time waiting for a dish took little more or less than an hour(we did have 10+ people.); 2) I had salmon, but the sauce was little too thick and there were burnt portions on salmon. Now the good part: 1) server was really appreciative and welcoming, 2) other than the burnt portion, the salmon and the veggies were outstanding and filling, 3) the location interior and appearance was soothing. I, personally, would come back in the future.

AWESOMERESTAURANT — Our new favorite downtown spot. We just finished celebrating our daughters 16th birthday along with 12 of her friends. The appetizers, main course and desserts was exceptional.

Wow. Where to start. I was a party of one well tended to by very food knowledgeable bar keep. Interesting food combo’s like mussels and chorizo. Hefty Caesar salad with actual real Caesar dressing. The recommended short ribs truly dropped off the bone over a bed of mashed potatoes with perfect horseradish heat offset by a jam of perfect sweet balance. Dang. Add mix of wood and copper and leather and good crowd mixing right you have a great evening destination. Only knock is nothing on draft but I can handle that in this place. Wow nicely done, Roaring Fork.

We chose to eat here simply because of the convenience of it(we were heading to a premier next door). I thought for sure it would be just like another Moxie’s or Montana’s, but I was so wrong. Upon entering, the entire staff was friendly and helpful. We were seated, and within a minute of being seated, our server, Jeremiah, came by. He was very knowledgable and made sure we understood what all the specials were exactly. He made everything sound amazing! Jeremiah took our drink orders and left us to peruse the menu. We decided on ordering the á la carte 8 oz. filet mignon and each chose a side — I had the crushed Yukon mashed potatoes and my SO had the asparagus. I can honestly say, the steak down here was much better than any steak I have ever had in Alberta(sorry, Canada!). Dinner was all-around amazing and I would definitely go back. Then came time for dessert — We opted to share the pecan pie. Never before have I tasted something so delicious in the form of a pie(and I make some pretty good pie!). The pecans and chocolate combined with the Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream from Amy’s was without a doubt a perfect end to a perfect meal. This restaurant deserves the five-star rating for everything: the atmosphere, the staff, and the food!

The bacon wrapped tenderloin is actually delicious. SOGETIT! But don’t expect to be too pleasantly surprised by much else on the menu. Also, the staff. friendly yes but loud. Ha. I mean if you’re fairly laid back and used to being in loud bars then its certainly not a problem. Its not an intimate atmosphere with the kitchen staff cracking jokes and bantering with each other behind the ‘wall’. I even overheard another customer ask to be seated somewhere else. This sounds like a bad review but its not meant to be. Just fair warning, but go enjoy the meal!

I can’t believe I didn’t finish this review sooner! Ohhhhh my goodnesss! Roaring Fork was seriously Delicious!!! We had dinner here one night while visiting in Austin; and this was hands down one of the best meals I have ever had! We started with the queso with was delish! Obviously no one was dieting tonight! I ordered a drink with Ginger ale in it. I wish I could remember what it was called now. But it was great as well! Most of our party ordered the Ribeyes they were brushed with truffle oil and had sea salt on them. One person ordered the Carnitas, and one just ordered the Green Chili Mac & Cheese. We also all ordered sides to share. We got: mashed potatoes, asparagus, and another order of the Green Chili Mac & Cheese and we added bacon to it. Seriously. I have almost no words for this meal. It was amazing. It was one of those meals that when the food comes people basically stop talking. The steak was to die for, the mashed potatoes were great, but the green chili mac and cheese with bacon totally stole the show for the sides. Wow. Our service was great all throughout our meal we never once went without anything we needed. I can’t say one negative thing about this place. If I’m ever back in Austin I will definitely be looking this place up again.

Went with my girlfriend on our last night in Austin and this was to be our«nice dinner outing». We dressed up and arrived for an early dinner. Sat at a table near the bar. The place is super nice inside and the staff was very nice & attentive. What we ordered: Huckleberry Margaritas — Amazing Green Chili Pork Stew — Amazing Big Ass Burger– Amazing Crème Brulee — My absolute favorite and it was also amazing I was overall impressed with this place and for a nice outing with drinks and food for 2 being about $ 100 was perfect.

Another great meal in Austin! Not sure how often they have them, but the special appetizer fried avocado and crab was incredible. We shared the redfish with an extra side of Yukon gold mashed potatoes, and it was plenty of food for two. Sat in the bar area and other than the very loud bachelorette party near us, we had a great experience.

I came with a group of five for dinner after a long day of conferencing at the Sheraton. We were looking for something where we could kick back, talk, and relax to a lazy meal. We got part of what we bargained for, but not all of it. We didn’t have reservations, so we should have been grateful to be seated so quickly in the bar area. Unfortunately, the larger table was somewhat oddly shaped. For a larger group, it might have worked well, but, for five, the seating just felt awkward. The way everyone had to be seated, it made carrying on a group conversation difficult. Service was generally good and friendly, but slow-paced, since the restaurant was at capacity. We passed the time amusing ourselves with the battery-operated candles. We thought we broke one of them, but the bartender a bit begrudgingly fixed it. The food was the saving grace of the evening. Everyone seemed to order something different, and there were no complaints whatsoever. I had the blackened redfish, which came with a whole grain pilaf, stewed tomatoes, and some Chipotle Tabasco butter. That was a pretty awesome mashup, if I must say so myself. Then again, I’ve got a weakness for redfish. I’d come here again simply for the quality of the food alone. I’d really recommend making reservations rather than just showing up for dinner like we did. I’m certain that would have improved the overall quality of our experience to five stars. But, honestly, the restaurant couldn’t help it when we asked to be squeezed in.

Food, service, champagne! Ahhhh. Lavish! It was my boyfriends birthday and wanted to take him somewhere elegant and nice. Great choice. He’s a big food critic and he didn’t have not one word to say but«mmmmmm», «Damnnnnn» and more moaning. Our server was great, and they really know how to awesome up a birthday!!! DEFINITELY returning.

What’s the best thing you can dip in cheese? Wrong. The answer is lamb chops. No, really. Hear me out. It sounds ridiculous and like over-the-top decadence, but it just works. Think about it. Lamb chops are shaped like meat spoons. Cheese is delicious… that’s about all the scientific proof I have. This is all to say… order the lamb fondue. You won’t regret it. I did not know lamb chops could be such an effective or delicious cheese delivery system, but they are. You can also dip bread and squash that they have on the sides, y’know, if you want to make potentially healthy things a lot less healthy. Also had the mahi mahi tacos, which were a bit on the salty side, but good nonetheless. Great sauce. Just wish they were double wrapped. Pretty good whiskey selection, and the bartenders were cool. I opted to sit at the bar, but this place is huge. There’s a whole other dining room with booths on the side where the bathrooms are. There are fireplaces and junk. Real fancy stuff. But at the bar, there’s a TV playing sports. And I like sports.

We had a team dinner here for work and had a wonderful time. Everyone was flying in from different cities, and due to weather /flight delays, we had no idea how many would show for dinner. And indeed there turned out to be a few tardy guests, as well as no-shows. Despite the restaurant being full, the management didn’t make a fuss and held our empty chairs, in the event people did show. I greatly appreciate their being so accommodating. Food was great — big, bold flavors on each dish, as you would expect from Texas. I appreciate there being some actual vegetables that came with the main course. Last time I was in Texas, I was at a nice restaurant and asked for vegetables, to which the waitress replied«son, those potatoes are vegetables!» he restaurant did not raise a fuss. They

My boyfriend can’t get over how their 24oz Bone-in Ribeye Steak was! With every bite I would catch him saying how delicious it was. And you know it’s good when you don’t need any steak sauce to dip it in. I, on the other hand did not get steak but was pleasantly surprised at how delightful the Braised Beef Short Rib. It was literally melt in your mouth! I could care less for the tomato jam that came with it, but the horseradish mashed potatoes were okay. I would change it to regular mashed potatoes if I got this dish again. The sides for the steak were a la carte, so my boyfriend got mashed potatoes(yumm) and green chili mac and cheese. The green chili mac and cheese is a must, A MUST. You can’t go there and not get it. It’s so good, you’ll want another order to go, but maybe nah cause it’s $ 7. We also got their chips and queso, eh pass on that. They also give you complimentary corn bread that has little pieces of jalapeño and raisins in it. It’s actually quite delicious for such an odd combination. Anywho, my dining experiences here have always been amazing.

This place was the bomb. Stopped in here by pure dumb luck,(after visiting the state Capitol), for a drink and a bite and they did not disappoint. Service was spot on, drinks were ass-kickin’ good and the atmosphere was extremely welcoming. And the fish tacos I ordered were without a doubt, THE best I ever had, bar none. Served with delectably flavored black beans, the tacos themselves come topped with corn pico and are also topped with a creamy salsa verde that is absolutely to die for. Nicely decorated joint with peeps that are über cool, friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again when we are back in Austin,(and we will be). Loved the joint!!!
