Started off with an absinthe, Saint George, and it was artfully prepared. Our bartender was super knowledgable and more than willing to answer all of my noobie questions about the different varieties they have on hand. The flavor was soft and mellow with mildly detected spices that seemed to dance around my pallet. Absinthe gives you a warm feeling as you drink it down and leaves your mouth slightly tingly. Ordered Bones & Frites as a starter. It arrived piping hot with a sunny side up egg over perfectly cooked french fries. The flavor was subtle, but decadently rich. I had to pace myself on how much I had, so as not to spoil my appetite for more tasty treats. For my next course, French onion soup. Here we have exactly what you’d expect. Beef and onion broth with crusty French bread and melted cheese. There was less cheese than I’ve had at other restaurants and the broth was a bit timid, but still a satisfying bowl nonetheless. Overall, my experience here was super enjoyable. The atmosphere was pleasant and the waitstaff were very attentive and friendly. I’ll definitely check in again the next time I’m in Austin.

My girlfriends and I came here for dinner before heading to 6th st. We order the escargot(superb! Very buttery and garlicky), the roasted chicken and the duck confit, and the short ribs. All of the dishes were very well done. The menu changes often. We actually came here for the moule frites but it wasn’t on the menu this time.

Came here for dinner last weekend with a group of friends. We all ordered a variety of things but I’ll review the dishes that I tasted. I ordered the half-pound burger for myself. It was good, but not great — pretty much your average burger. The bacon was really good though. The frites that came with them had a very unusual flavor to it. I couldn’t put my finger on it but it tasted like beer. My friends ordered the bone marrow(which wasn’t flavorful), the Mac n cheese, and Cesar salad. I think the best meal was the salad — it had more of a lemon flavor than Cesar dressing, but was still good. The Mac n cheese was good but nothing memorable. Overall, wouldn’t come back here to eat but I may come to try the cocktails.

I’m ashamed to say I’ve been sleeping on Péché. A friend kept talking up their happy hour(all day Sunday and Monday) and I finally decided to go one night. I actually missed their happy hour, but I’m glad I did because otherwise I might not have ordered an entrée. I tried to order the duck special, but they were out of it for the night. The«helpful» bar patron next to me explained that duck is harder to come across these days because they’re migrating to Mexico. Thanks for the tip, buddy. In its place, I had the wild boar with housemade pappardelle, and it was absolutely incredible. The boar was good, but the pappardelle was out of this world. I would happily eat only that for the rest of my life. I made it back yesterday evening for Sunday happy hour and they have some really great specials. Several $ 5 cocktails and half off many of their appetizers and their burger and croque madame. Both times I went, I sat at the bar and the service was friendly and attentive. This place will definitely be on my list of happy hour hangouts.

Beautiful restaurant — centered around the bar which is lined with hundreds of liqour bottles. We came to this place so we’d have somewhere to sit for a while hoping there would be live music on the stage next door, but no such luck. We ended up sitting at the bar ordered two cocktails, which were STRONG! The highlight of the night was the pecan pie with brown butter ice cream. Absolutely delicious.

I had been meaning to try Péché for quite some time due to numerous recommendations and am so glad I finally took the time. A friend and I dined here this past Monday(4⁄25) and were thoroughly impressed, top to bottom. The restaurant and bar are beautiful. The selection of spirits, cocktails, wine are impressive, to say the least. Our cocktails were expertly prepared. Their beef tartare is among the best I’ve tasted. The wild boar with pappardelle hit all the right rustic flavors, while the short ribs were rich and delicious. Unfortunately, I neglected to get our server’s name. She was a delight from the moment we sat down.

Awesome spot for pre-prohibition style cocktails. We’ve been to Austin only 3x yet we’ve been at this spot 5x. The interior is dimly lit and intimate and we love that the bartenders wear vests. They have a nice list of specialty cocktails and a very extensive list of absinthe. We tried quite a few cocktails, but the 2 we enjoyed the most are the Texas Mule and a special that’s written on a chalkboard which I forgot the name. It contains mezcal, jalapeño, a couple other ingredients and egg whites(shaken vigorously egg whites tastes like meringue). We always sit at the bar because we love to watch the mixologists make the drinks. Perhaps one day we’ll try the food here. For now, we’re totally content with Peche’s creative cocktail concoctions.

Came for happy hour, had a drink and split an appetizer. I got the Lion’s Tail drink and it was nicely balanced, flavorfully spiced and on the dryer side and the mac n cheese with mushrooms and smoked ham was super rich, creamy and decadent. A great price at happy hour and a really good amount for 2 – 3 people to share. Décor and service were solid, and a nice selection of basic classic cocktails on Happy Hour along with a few good choices for food as well. Definitely want to come back for an absinthe drink as well as try the burger. Nice spot.

This is purely for their spirits selection! We need to go back and try the food. WOWZERS! Shaved whiskey/whisky balls and so many libation choices! Scottish whisky has no «E» Irish and American whiskey does. Their Absinthe God is also quite a treat!

I’ve been to Peche multiple times for dinner and happy hour and each time I’ve been pleased. The bartenders and wait staff are so knowledgable about the drink combinations. You can give them an idea of what you like, and poof, they’ll whip up some magnificent cocktail concoction for you. Each time I go, I make a point to order a Queens Navy Grog. It has rhubarb liquor in it, which you might think sounds odd, but it’s really amazing. It’s sweet, but not too sweet and the drink has a taste of lemon to it. A gentleman, who I believed to be the manager, or maybe even owner, came to our table to check on us and he asked me what kind of cocktail I like. I told him that I was a fan of chartreuse and he came back with a tasty chartreuse and gin drink called a Saints & Monks. During one visit for dinner, we ordered their cheese board and one of the items on the board was raw honeycomb. I’d had honey on a cheese board before, sure, but not honeycomb. It was different, yet fantastic. I’ve had Peche’s mac & cheese a couple of times. The first time was when we were dining with a large group of people and when the dish was served to me, it wasn’t the right temperature. It was as if the kitchen had cooked it a little too early and waited to serve it until the rest of our table’s food was ready. The second time, it was nice and hot, which made a world of difference. The cheese was warm and gooey and the ham tasted like Christmas. The type of pasta they use isn’t macaroni at all, it’s actually orecchiette, which is shaped like a little tiny bowl to hold all of the cheesy goodness. Peche has a pretty great happy hour where some of their food menu items(if marked with an asterisk next to the price) are half off, and a few of their drink menu items are marked down. Unfortunately the drink items that are marked down are never the ones that I want to order, but that’s my own fault, really. Last time we went, Boyfriend ordered a burger, which is normally $ 18, but was half off for happy hour. It was good, but not $ 18 good, so I’d probably only order it on happy hour going forward. Peche has a rotating dessert menu and the only thing I’ve tried from it is their crème brûlée. On this particular day the crème brûlée was served with three white chocolate macarons, which made the dish even more fabulous. One thing to note, the place gets crowded when you go for happy hour or dinner(especially on a Friday), so get there early to try and get a seat at the bar, or go ahead and make reservations, just to be safe.

This place was on point. Let’s start by discussing this Fig Manhattan that feels like a higher being expertly put this concoction on the menu. Seriously. Bad ass drink. The riff on a classic Manhattan was too die for. The fig foam on top just set this off in an amazing cocktail league of it’s own. The cocktail list top to bottom was spot on! So much variety. Our entire table was imbibing in the best way possible. Then food town. Steak tartare was amazingly flavored! Seriously, this what food dreams are made of. Then the escargot was honestly one of the most generous portions I’ve had. At least a dozen of those scrumptious little suckers coated in yummy garlic butter. Um, yes. So good. Then I ordered the duck breast special and again, blown away. Grilled plums and endive with a perfectly seared and cooked duck breast. Oye, this hit the spot. Everyone was in food heaven. Definitely would recommend this as another great ATX establishment. This city has a damn good food game. Deal Seeking Diva tip: Sunday is all day happy hour. Get on it.

Happy hour all day Sundayyyyyy yaaaay! They open at 5:00. I’m writing this not only for others but also myself. There have been multiple times we have tried to show up at 4 or earlier because I can never remember when they open. We like to get our happy hour on all day. Anyway! We’ve come here a few times and both times the drinks are unique and the food is delicious. Of course we tried the mac and cheese. They offer it without meat which is nice. It’s rich, delicious, and a LOT. They have a HUGE heaping portion of fries as well. The French 75 cocktail was delicious, and my husband had the Duplais, which was ever so absinthe-y… haha! Service is great and helpful. This is always one of our happy hour stops.

Came here for their all-night Monday happy hour, and I was not disappointed. The place itself has a cool, early 20th century vibe, which reminded me a lot of New Orleans. They’ve got a great selection of half priced food and $ 5 cocktails for happy hour, so we went with the escargot, a croque madame, and their half pound burger. The portion sizes were huge, and both the croque madame and burger came with a mountain of fries(or pommes frites… whatever). It was all delicious, and you could tell they put a lot of work into their food, from the homemade ketchup to the house cured ham and bacon. Service was also really good and the staff seemed friendly and attentive. It’s definitely a place I would visit again, and I’m already looking forward to exploring the rest of their menu and ordering one of their many specialty cocktails.

Great spot. Nice long bar that was not overrun and had a nice mix of ages/styles among the patrons. Tables make it so that you feel like part of the bar if that’s what you like or you can sit further away for more a «dining room» feel. Pros: 1. Escargot! — As well executed as I’ve seen it. Probably due it’s serving size and not just snails plopped into the prototypical serving. Seasoned just right. 2. Tenderloin — Excellent job hitting the right temp(amazing how many kitchens still get this wrong). 3. Cocktails — Spot-on both for the Corpse Reviver and a non-alcoholic ginger beer with lime for me. 4. Owner/Chef(?) — Smart move to roam and chat-up the patrons. Saw him make people who were clearly 1st-timers feel like they were regulars. Sure thing move to keep ‘em coming back. Well done. Cons: 1. Lamb rack — As small a serving as I have ever seen. Literally 6 small bites. Ordered medium-rare, got full-on rare(cold red center). tasty enough, but uncalled for in a $ 38 dish. Really disappointing. In particular since I spoke with the owner when he stopped at our table prior to ordering and we discussed pan-roasting the dish, getting arm burn scars from working in kitchens, etc. Have fun…

I will preface this review that it is only of the single cocktail I had on a Sunday night. With that being said… I was not impressed in the slightest. I went w/a group of people as sort of an event«afterparty» and the place was packed! But, I think the«packed like sardines» feel was more due to how they have the tables set up than the exorbitant number of people. Seriously, it was like Pan’s Labyrinth and I was seated in the booth part of a wall table so trying to navigate the narrow openings between tables and seats was not for the faint of heart! All that being said… when I finally did get around to ordering(our poor waiter was trying his hardest, but I’m not sure if it was an understaffing issue or again the inaccessibility of where I was sitting, but it took an inordinate amount of time to order, get my lone cocktail, the check, and then process payment) I decided since I was in an absinthe bar, I’d go for the gusto and order an absinthe cocktail. Peche, it turns out, is one of those places where there are not prices printed on the cocktail menus; either because they think if you are there you are a person who does not bother with insignificant life details such as the price of a cocktail because knowing the price of anything is an irrelevant inconvenience or because there would be a lot of spit takes happening if you were visually assaulted by the prices of their cocktails. It could honestly go either way. I had a «fight or flight» moment when I saw the price-less menu, but decided I had had a wonderful evening, why not top it off w/a fancy schmancy cocktail at a place in Austin I have never been. So I ordered the Absinthe God because it seemed fitting and I was already happily boozed from my previous engagement. When the tiny little glass was placed in front of me, I thought«wow. this thing must be lethal to be so tiny». About that… it was about as potent as a tea cup chihuahua, who, incidentally, would probably not be buzzed off this one. Needless to say, it was not the first time I have been disappointed by an inanimate object with a god complex and I’m sure it won’t be the last. I was however wondering if some unforeseen NYC booze deity was attempting to smite me for my drink choice because the only time I have ever paid $ 16 for a drink was in the Big Apple. Mayhaps the deity that smote me that fateful night will take pity on me and somehow endow me with a winning lottery ticket or a really drunk rich guy or the desire to come back an see if I have better luck w/their happy hour. Until then, as a lowly not-for profit employee, I will stick to places where the numbers on their menus aren’t part of the drink names.

Chic absinthe bar in the heart of downtown Austin. Pricey but if you’re looking for a nice unique spot then this is it. An extensive cocktail list and the absinthe is served uniquely with dripping water and a sugar cube. The bar is a nice spot to sit for drinks, or there are plenty of tables if you’re looking to do a sit down meal or stay late chatting with friends.

Crowded loud French place with superb cocktails and hearty meals. Mushroom fritters and braised ribs were excellent but heavy. Winning cocktails: the French 75, the gin gin mule, and cucumber gimlet. The Saint 75 was good, but I didn’t like the heavy spice taste, probably nutmeg.

Overall a great vibe in Peche but the star of the show is the Happy Hour! Sunday & Monday they run it all night & Tuesday– Friday it runs 4 – 7 p.m. Some of the menu is ½ off during this time and the $ 6 cocktails are incredible. Get a group of people together and you are guarentted to have a great time.

Péché was amazingly delicious. I took a few foodie New Yorkers here and they were impressed by the food! We ordered the bone marrow and frites, escargot, mac n cheese, sweetbreads, steak tartare, and the charcuterie plate. My fave dish was the escargot. Magnifique! So buttery… so much aroma… I can’t really describe how much my mind was blown away from all the different dishes I had. Our server was very attentive considering how busy the night was. He had alot of knowledge on our drinks. Had the dark & stormy, which was really strong and gave a nice kick in throat with their house made ginger beer. Definitely get an old-fashion with their house made bitters. They just have so much selection when it comes to bourbon, gin, whiskey, and rum drinks. You can’t go wrong here with your cocktail selection. I am definitely coming back, but first I gotta run a few miles before I go.

Probably the best Bourbon selection I’ve ever dreamed of, they hand craft your cocktails and the old fashioned’s they are able to conjure up will leave you dizzy. Literally. This place has an antiquated speak easy vibe, excellent food but the drinks are out of this world. Be sure to check out the adjacent tiki bar, owned by the same people with hundreds of rums to choose from!

A casual but sophisticated establishment in downtown Austin, Peche offers charming décor, friendly service from smartly-dressed staff, authentic French bistro fare, and an extensive, delicious cocktail and drinks menu, particularly absinthe. Prices are a bit on the high side if you’re not here for happy hour, but everything is high quality and well presented, whether the escargot, steak tartare, or crème brulee. Drinks like the pisco sour or the grasshopper are quite smashing too. Overall, another great find thanks to Unilocal — a venue with true European flair deep in the heart of Texas.

Went here for the first time during their Sunday all-day happy hour which is certainly the best time to be here. I had the«Mansinthe» cocktail which was delicious and worth getting despite not being a part of happy hour. We had the mac and cheese and the escargot appetizers. The former was highly recommended by other people at our table but I was unimpressed. The escargot was good and generously portioned. The chef didn’t even view the 7 dimples in the plate as a suggestion and instead through a whole bunch on top, which I’m a fan of. I think escargot is mostly an excused to eat butter and this was no exception. We split a hamburger, as well, and it was also just ok. We had 4 cocktails, 2 appetizers, and an entrée for $ 55 plus tip which is a pretty good deal. I think the non-happy-hour price of $ 110 would have been a bit silly. I like the ambiance here and the extensive cocktail list but I would only ever return if I happened to be nearby during happy hour.

There’s something about trying a new-to-you-restaurant after everyone gives you the third eye look for never having been there. OK, folks, it’s not exactly like I enjoy the hassle and expense of driving and parking downtown so much that I drive from the South 40 daily just seeking new experiences. But, still, it’s hard to believe I missed a place this popular that’s so popular and has been here for over 6 years. My Péché experience was triggered by a YES after-party Sunday night. I wasn’t here for the drink specials, since I’d already decided that part of the evening was behind me. I really wanted some food, and, based on the tip of a fellow Unilocaler, I wanted to try their hamburger. Most of all, though, I really wanted some quality time with friends. Péché is certainly nice, a bit upscale, but totally approachable. There’s no snobbery based on the way you’re dressed, but the staff dress appropriately for this class of restaurant. There are booths with bench seats, and tiny four tops that are clearly meant more for wining than dining. Couple that with an extensive bar menu and great drink specials, and you can see why most of the clientele are here for imbibing. Try to get a booth if you’re here to eat so you’ll be most comfortable. Noise level last night was LOUD, so don’t expect a quiet, intimate evening if you go here. The burger was menu-priced at $ 18. That’s quite a bit more than I’d pay for a burger, but it was incredible – juicy without being messy, just slightly north of the medium I ordered(which was fine by me). The real surprise was when the bill came: I didn’t realize that the burger was one of the half-priced items on Sunday. Totally worth the price at $ 9. Regrets: — I’d scored my limit at the earlier event. Several of their craft cocktails are $ 6 on Sundays, and I would have really liked to try their Sazerac. — I didn’t know to get a booth seat. — I didn’t find out about this place sooner. Hits: — The burger, the burger, the burger — The Sunday happy hour prices Misses: — Totally distracted hostess that made it difficult to know what to do about seating — Lack of waiter explanation of menu and pricing — At times erratic waited table service that occasionally bordered on the brusque — Noise level that made casual conversations difficult at best

What a delightful happy hour! This cute downtown restaurant has a vibe that definitely gives off«high end» without making you feel all snooty about it. Elegant interior and gourmet cocktails without the nose in the air attitude you can get at other restaurants. Their happy hour deal is 50% off what they have starred, which I would highly recommend the hamburger they have starred! It was so fresh and delicious! Their cocktails are also 50% off when starred and while a smaller drink than you would get at other downtown bars, the quality is there… I promise. You walk out that door and the liquor reminds you that it was present haha!

Came in here for happy hour and was not disappointed one bit. Started off with the house mule and loved it. One of the better mules if had, just wish it was served in the classic copper mug. Me and my buddies shared the fries as well as the Mac n cheese. Both of these were also awesome. The Mac n cheese really was amazing and I loved the pastas they used. What a dream. Determinedly working my way through my Unilocal bookmark list has thrown up a couple of entirely brilliant last minute tables recently. This being absolutely one of the best. Actual French tasting French food is tough to find and often disappointing in Austin(I’m looking at you Arro.!) but this didn’t let us down. Peché is a gem though. Glorious cocktails, Hilarious staff and absolutely wonderful food. The escargot were already shelled for us(so pampered!), the lambs tongue was melting, the scallops huge and tender, pork belly glorious and bouillabaisse was gigantic and fragrant. A Saturday night table meant we were pretty crammed in, we’ll definitely come back on a weekday evening also we’ve got a bit more space to spread ourselves out and some more leisurely bar time. But we absolutely will be back. Soon.

I really, really wanted to love this place but unfortunately the food fell a bit below our standards. The drinks and ambience were really great and overall we had a great time. We were a party of 7 and all though everyone liked their meals there was no LOVE factor. The food: –deviled eggs: my favorite thing we ate. The capers were a great touch and they definitely are the most memorable part of the night –steak tartare: nicely prepared but could have used a bit of salt or maybe so avocado as a base –scallops: nicely cooked but have had better. Enjoyed the mixture of flavor a in this dish –ribeye: was cooked very nicely but again have had better. We enjoyed it more when we stole my friends mushrooms from her brisket. What I also found odd was they charged my friend 2 $ per shrimp for her salad. I thought that was a bit steep. She ended up asking for 6 and that basically made her salad upwards of 25 $. I just found it strange. The drinks they have are pretty cool so I’d probably just stick with that. We had a good night with good friends but I highly doubt we will return again.

This review is based solely on the happy hour menu. Hands down, one of the best happy hour specials I’ve ever experienced. ½ half off selected appetizers and $ 5 cocktails, which are marked on their menu with a *. These are not the typical appetizers and drinks you get at a sports bar like mozzarella sticks or rail drinks. Furthermore, there is a decent amount of food and drinks available for the happy hour prices, making it even harder to choose. My boyfriend and I ended up getting the gin gin mule(gin, mint, lime, house-made ginger beer) and the lion’s tale(bourbon, lime, allspice dram, bitters). The gin mule tasted like a blend of a mojito and limeade(super refreshing), the lion’s tale tasted like Christmas with its strong cinnamon notes. Both were delicious. You can tell that the bartender puts a lot of detail into its cocktails. Additionally, the menu offers an extensive list of unique cocktails that all sound promising. For appetizers we got the escargot and pommes frites. The escargot is delicious. I haven’t had escargot in so long, and I like the garlic, pesto sauce that is on it. However, the bread that comes with it is not good — it is too tough to chew. The pommes frites is also disappointing, albeit it’s a generous amount — it’s too soggy and there’s not enough seasoning. Additionally, I want to comment on the décor and atmosphere. I love how the alcohol bottles are arranged on bookshelves — it looks like an old school library, but instead of books, there’s alcohol. Think Beauty and the Beast the part where Belle slides on the ladder searching for a book. And yes, there are ladders! The atmosphere is old fashioned and romantic. I love it. The décor aligns well with its upscale French cuisine, making it a great date place.
