This is a decent place for a happy hour but not very good as a music venue. The shotgun style of the stage makes the acoustics terrible. We attended a private concert there and if you weren’t in the first few rows your experience would have been awful. They’ve updated the look and feel of this bar and it no longer has a dive bar feel. Is it actually kind of nice. Bartenders were great but under staffed. If you’re looking for a place with a cool vibe and good bartenders but don’t care about music this is a good spot for you.

Showed up «early» on a Saturday night as we were bar hopping for a friend’s birthday. A jazz musician was playing to a semi-full house, and, WOW, was he talented. The crowd was older and the vibe was definitely chill. Checking in here gave us half off our first drink, which is the only way I could afford one of their signature cocktails. It was delicious and well-made, so I would happily go back and drink more — if someone else was paying. The bartenders were sweet, friendly, and honest, which is, coincidentally, how I like my bartenders! I can see myself returning due to the quality of the music, but the set-up and shape of Lucky itself is not conducive to large groups. Seemed like a great(romantic or friend) date lounge, but not one to bring your crew to.

How can you reproduce a dive bar especially in new digs located smack in the middle of new condos and hip restaurants? I liked the place but fear the cool divey feel will be lost and Lucky Lounge will fade off into the neon sunset. Bartenders there kick-ass!

Came here for a stand up comedy show and had a great time. The bar itself is long and narrow with a stage at the end, not on the dive side but not $$$ either. Bartenders were great folks and the space itself is nice. there is currently construction going on next door but aside from that ill come check it out again on another night(doesn’t hurt to be next to Gourdough’s either)

Pretty good venue for music. Their drinks are decent, but overpriced at $ 3 for a lonestar, and way more for a decent drink. Ambiance inside is great, and music almost every night. I came here while playing a gig. Our booking agent really screwed us over, but once learning that it was not through the bar, I have no problems with them. In fact, the bartenders did everything possible to help us out, and they took good care of us.

Great little bar downtown but excellent bartenders. I’m an Old, so the first thing I noticed walking in was that it didn’t SMELL like a bar — it was super clean everywhere you looked. Cool lighting and super nice bartenders. I like this place best because of the support they give local music — just went to a PAIDTOPLAY showcase with DJ Versus to support the ATX hip hop scene and felt right at home in a really mixed crowd — all races, ages, singles, couples, groups. And everybody having a good time. Highly recommend if you are looking for a place to hang out downtown that’s not touristy or catering to the PBR set — just decent drinks at a decent price in a quality space, and a good spot for local music.

Awesome venue! They support the community and us local musicians! Johnny, Jared, Meridith, Nikki, and the door guys are awesome! Super friendly and allow us to do the PAIDTOPLAY series which lets local artists get paid for their services on a Friday night! Great People!

This place isn’t really my scene. It’s long and narrow with a stage at the back, so it gets super crowded and super loud. The décor is nice and the place is clean, but it can feel claustrophobic during peak hours. The bartenders have always been friendly, but since I can’t hear myself think here I don’t make it a point to stop by.

It appears as though one of the bartenders at this place is crooked. I got my tab and thought it was really high for what I had ordered. I thought the place was crowded and maybe there was a mistake. I tipped a little under my normal 20% and just bit the bullet for leaving an open tab. I asked for an itemized receipt but again they were busy and they didn’t follow up. Then come the next week. Not only was there my one high charge on that saturday they apparently the next week added 4 more charges that monday totalling well over $ 100(but not adding to exactly my bill or my bill with tip). Sad thing is it was a friends birthday and we brought in well over their normal non band night business. Won’t be doing it again.

Great place to hangout with your friends, listen to nice live music and get to know awesome people :) I loved the red lights on the wall and bartenders were very friendly and fun.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, I judge my bars on the bartenders, and the bartenders at Lucky Lounge are the reason I’ll be going back. We went here on a Saturday, it was pretty slow, but I’m not a fan of packed bars so it was perfect for me. We strolled up to the bar and ordered our drinks, first drink half off with a Unilocal check in btw. Prices were cheaper than most bars dtown. The bartenders were very personable as we bs’d with them the entire time. They didn’t act like they too busy, too important or just not interested in socializing. I left feeling like I had a conversation with old friends. Those are great bartenders. They have a stage in the back where a band could play, and the layout would be good for an intimate showcase. I’m usually not a fan of bars dtown enough to remember to go back, but Lucky Lounge has made its way to my list of «go to» bars.

Went to an election party last night. Love the prices, and loved the little couch layout. I felt like I was in my own living room watching the results.(Apart from all the people and surround sound)

I always like to start with the positive: the staff at Lucky Lounge were nice and friendly. Service was quick. All in all, it seems like it’s managed well and must treat their employees okay. As far as the rest of it goes, the stars say it all. It’s not a bad venue, but there seems to be no real reason to be in there unless you have a purpose(«My ex-boyfriend? His sister’s roommate has a cousin who’s playing at Lucky Lounge tonight!»). The theme is «red»? I guess? There are some sparse tables and chairs along one wall. It’s kind of like someone leased out a hallway and decided to make it into a bar with a stage. The upstairs little lounge part is good for conversation and hanging around. There are better, there are worse.

this place has a lot going for it. the sounds is good, LOVE the lighting scheme, location(just off the beaten path but still near 6th) I’ve been here twice, enjoyed both parties(sxsw). the owner(or possibly manager) is often seen busting his ass along with staff.

No out-of-towner can come to the Live Music Capital of the World and not experience at least one live band. Last weekend, Lucky Lounge played host to my friend Eric’s band, The Heard Theorem, and so I made sure Jen and Miss Sugarbaker would be able to see them play. I had seen them once before at Club 606, and 1.) I didn’t know that the place turned into a lesbian bar after a certain hour; and 2.) I sort of remember them playing, but they didn’t start the set until midnight, and I was already three sheets. This time, I was excited I’d be able to take it all in. For one reason or another, I think I was confusing Lucky Lounge with one of those smaller, more crowded bars on 5th Street. It turns out I was pleasantly surprised to see their comfortable layout. There’s not a a whole lot about the venue space I can add that other reviewers haven’t already pointed out. Dimly lit. Narrow, with couches and chairs. Glowing blue bar. Yup. All there. And it all works. We sat at one of the high tables against the wall across the bar. We had a nice view of the band, and the acoustics were perfect for their sound. I said hello to Eric’s girlfriend before she went to the front to watch the show and record the set. One of the guys on guitar is super cute, but I think I keep getting his name mixed up with the drummer. I think I’ll need Eric to help me sort this out eventually. I really like their music, and according to Reverbnation, you will too if you are fans of bands such as The Killers, Kings Of Leon, Young the Giant, Against Me!, and Blue October. You should definitely go and catch a show to see for yourself. A couple round of drinks didn’t cost much at all, and the cocktails were mixed well. There were two bartenders: one who was tall, dark and OMG-wow-cute, while the other one was shorter, and more conventionally cute. I called them Batman and Robin. I realize this isn’t one of *my* bars, but I’m sure any of the ladies who stop in would get a kick out of them, especially the tall handsome one. Scorching. Anyways, we had to leave a little early because of dinner reservations, but not before I heard their awesome cover of «Don’t You Forget About Me», which he knew was my favorite. Anything to do with«The Breakfast Club» is soooo my thing. I’m «The Princess», you know. Their music is original, but every now and then they like to throw in a cover. Bonus that it’s from the 80s. It was a treat to see the show, but it was even better that Jen and Miss Sugarbaker could be there with me. A good time was had by all. Thank you Heard Theorem, and thank you Lucky Lounge!

This bar is HOT. HOT. HOT. HOT. And dark. Very dark. When I walk in here, it’s like walking into an upscale dungeon, it’s a dark futuristic feel — to me anyway. LL definitely has chill amiance and sexy lighting down to an art. LL is long and narrow with a few cozy couches and chairs closer to the stage that’s at the very end of the long and narrow. The bar area is bangin’ with the sci-fi lighting and over-look seating above; overall a great set-up for the space. All the bartenders are quite nice and the drinks are surprisingly good. The crowd is friendly and diverse. My only complaint is that they need to work on their music — some of the stuff they play just sucks and it doesn’t really fit in with the ambiance. Can we not play AM radio type stuff LL? Get yo-self a dash of DJ Tiesto and DJ Krush and such … Great place to chill and check out a band or check out whatever.

Are you a twenty-something young woman looking to get hit on by 50+ men who’ve been divorced at least once? Do you like dancing awkwardly to hip-hop? Does mixing pieces from Forever 21 and American Apparel make you feel like the sexiest bitch in town? THENFEARNOMORE, FORLUCKYLOUNGEISTHEPLACETOBE! The bartenders are the saving grace here. They really are working hard to serve you, which is probably the only thing this place has going for it. It’s small, cramped, and lacking of anything that would make it distinguishable from any other bar downtown. At least the live band on this night was good. Otherwise, I’d be sure that attending Wendy’s would have been the better close to the evening. Lucky Lounge should take a cue and start giving us all spicy chicken sandwiches upon entrance.
