Stopped in Pacific Rim on the invitation of the wife’s coworker. I didn’t know it ahead of time, but Saturdays are $ 20 all you can eat yakitori. It was also happy hour. They have a generous happy hour in terms of both time and price. We opted for the yakitori special, so I can’t comment on the sushi. The selection was very good, even though they do have more offerings on the regular dinner menu. I had beef, chicken, pork, pork belly, escolar, shrimp, baby octopus, and shrimp balls. Everything was good, but I was especially a fan of the pork belly, escolar and shrimp balls. Throw in a number of Sapporo drafts for $ 1 off and it made for a really good meal. The service was prompt and courteous. We never had an empty drink and our next order was always picked up promptly when we were finished the prior round. The interior is a similar to a nicer sports bar. Large wood bar, lots of TVs, even Bud Light football signs in the windows. Nice to know there is a good place to catch the game while eating lots of grilled meat on a stick with beer. Looking forward to trying the Tuesday night happy hour to try the sushi.

Pretty slow for a friday night. I sat at the bar and took full advantage of the happy hour deals and still managed to spend $ 30.Ordered the fried oysters app, crawfish sushi and spicy tuna sushi with a passionfruit mojito. Oysters: looked like chicken fried steak. completely smashed flat like a pancake and did not taste fresh at all. whyy? what did that poor sea creature do to you to deserve this? Sushi: both tasted soggy and the crawfish/tuna was not very fresh tasting either. Passionfruit Mojito: even this drink somehow managed to be disappointing. it didn’t taste fruity, it just felt like I was drinking seltzer water. Service: I was the only person sitting at the bar and the bartender had major stank face the ENTIRETIME. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt by saying maybe it’s just her face, but it was confirmed that her attitude sucked as soon as I sat down, I wasn’t even greeted, just glared at. I had to ASK for a menu, she never once checked up on me and ignored me the whole time. Meanwhile, she was playing on the cell phone the entire time just acting like she didn’t want to be there. There are a lot of other great sushi places and sadly, this is not one of them.

We have been coming here on Tuesdays, which I assume its their busiest night. The waitress for our table messed up our orders a couple of time because, for some reasons, they kept sending different people to our table. Among the 6 of us, a couple of us arrived a little after 9:30, and our last arrival asked a couple of different waiters to take his order, and when we finally get one after 15 minutes wait, he then waited 30 minutes for his order and of course the waiter managed to mess up the order TWICE. This was going to be our regular meet up place, but waiting is just too much and it ended up to be a really awful experience. I might come back once they get their stuff together, but I will stay away from this place for now.

Their Tuesday night happy hour specials are a great deal. No, it’s definitely not the best sushi or yakitori, but it’s $ 1. What do you expect?! Good place for some cheap eats with friends and the staff and service are always great. The chicken and beef yakitori and the fired oyster are my favorite. I usually order a side of white rice to make it more of a meal. You’ll definitely be stuffed for well under $ 10.

Certainly not the best sushi, but not terrible by any means. The service was very good and the atmosphere was as expected. Happy hour prices are a very good deal. I would say it’s about on par with Hanabi, maybe a little below, using Tomodachi as the highest ranking(Uchi and Kome not included). Definitely a good spot if you want happy hour sushi.

Hesitant to come here because I really enjoyed the restaurant that was here before(The Dojo), but I am now a convert. Came in for Tuesday HH for dollar sushi. Salmon was delicious, but the sauce on the escolar was a bit much. Had a spicy scallop hand roll; not on the menu but a nice serving of scallops and it was freaking orgasmic. But that yakitori, though. GETTHEPORKBELLY. Then get it again with a side of rice. The beef yakitori reminded me of Filipino BBQ(not complaining). Le BF also had oysters and a $ 3 large hot sake and $ 3 Sapporo(a sweet deal, I’m told). Our server was so nice and patient! Will soon be a regular. The parking can get obnoxious once it gets dark, but on a Tuesday around 4, you shouldn’t have to worry about it.

Have been hesitating on trying this place because of location and set on a favorite sushi place called Roll-On-Sushi. Well, ROS closed and I was craving fish, and PR advertised hh until closed and I’m a huge sucker for a deal. Happened to go on a $ 1 Tuesday night and honestly, I haven’t been happier. The Escolar in AMAZING! not seared, and one order was brushed in this lemon sauce that was reminiscent of lemon cream pie so it just melted in your mouth. Got my fill, fish was fresh, sake legit. I promise you this, I will be going back. That good.

Great value for great sushi and yakitori! Pacific Rim has fantastic specials! Their happy hour is nice and long and they also have dollar night on Tuesdays! I really enjoyed the Mac and cheese because it is sake-infused! The pork belly yakitori was also a highlight. In terms of sushi, I enjoyed the sashimi plate. It comes with REAL wasabi and is really fresh fish!

We went for the late night happy hour, which is pretty much all the time in the evenings. Overall, the food was pretty excellent and well-priced. The foods that stuck out for me here were actually the soups! I had the spicy mushroom miso and my husband had the creamy pumpkin. They were both really good, something you would expect at a much fancier place. I could have probably just eaten a huge bowl of those. The pumpkin soup is a bit sweet if that’s not your thing. The yakitori was really good, but unfortunately salty. I’m just not a huge fan of salt so it was way too much for me, but you may be okay. The sauce and chicken were perfect though. We also got veggie tempura, which was good and had a nice selection. I had never had a red pepper — it’s my favorite now! So, for the sushi: we got some pieces of escolar, salmon, and unagi. The only one I really liked was the unagi. The salmon and escolar didn’t have a lot of flavor and the poor escolar was smothered in sauce and too much green onion. I probably wouldn’t get pieces again here, even though they were a very good price. The rolls on the other hand were a great value. The green dragon and spicy cajun were both very good. The green dragon was our favorite all in all. Some of the rolls are still $ 9+, even on happy hour, but they were very large. The service was pretty good considering it was our server’s second day and the restaurant has only been open 2 months. It seems like if you came earlier, this place would be super fun. They have different theme nights and karaōke, so I’d love to come check that out. The atmosphere is totally sports bar/sushi, not fancy or anything, but it still felt nice. Overall, if Pacific Rim was a full price sushi bar, it may be nothing special. But hello happy hour all the time! I love getting a deal on some awesome food. I feel like the best food I had was the non-sushi japanese, so I’ll probably explore that more on my next visit.

Do yourself a favor and get the escolar yakitori. Also, quail egg shooters are ALWAYS available. The food is great here, and the prices are very reasonable. Terra and Alisha(bartenders) have great personalities, can mix any cocktail, and know the menu. I have met the management and owners, and they are all personable and very accommodating. This restaurant is still new, so get to know the staff! They have tasted everything. :) Some of the reviews I have read here seem to be written by cheapskates with NO sushi knowledge. Pacific Rim is raising the bar for burnet road. The wings here are at LEAST as good as what pluckers has to offer next door. The seafood is fresh, all of the yakitori is SUSHIGRADE! Oysters on the half shell at market price: worth every penny. Ignore the whiners who don’t know seafood or sushi. Service may take a little time, but everything is made to order. Treat yourself! I really hope this place will be serving it up for years to come.

I’ve been here a couple times and I’d say that overall the sushi is just alright. This is a huge space that would be great for groups to watch sports games or partake in karaōke. The sushi tastes perfectly fine; nothing tasted off, I just thought it was pretty standard and nothing too special for my taste buds.

There is no way that this place deserves more than 2 stars. So, the pros are that the food is cheap and affordable. The cons are that the sushi isn’t super fresh or tasty. Are you willing to make compromises with your sushi? I’m not.

Loved the food. This place is located in an unsuspecting shopping center off the highway. The inside is unique. It has a little of everything. There is a sushi bar in the back corner, a main bar in the center, and a lounge area towards the back plus regular seating for dinner. We ordered some Sake mac & cheese, yakitori, an Unagi roll, Agadashi tofu, and a bottle of sake. We were starving and got a little ambitious. This was a lot of food for 2 people. The sake mac & cheese was yummy and very unique. You have to mix it up before eating bc the top portion tastes A LOT like just straight sake. The Unagi roll was fresh and well made. The rice held up and wasn’t too hard or soft. The Agadashi tofu was well fried. Not greasy and kept crunchy. The sauce that came with it needs a little more flavoring but still good. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super nice and made sure we had everything.

Food is excellent!!! Atmosphere is just okay. Service wasn’t amazing. The food is what will always bring us back! My only complaint is that they are closed for Saturday lunch. Says Sport bar on the window, UT and OU were playing today and we were craving sushi. We drove all the way over there to discover they were closed at prime time 1:30pm. Again, food was fantastic and we will continue to visit.

Came recently and it was pretty much dead with just one other table in the place. We ordered some beef skewers, gyoza, Tuna 1,2,3, and a couple spicy rolls. Everything was decent, and the beef skewers and gyoza were pretty good. The tuna sashima was oddly cut and was more of a cube of thick meat rather than the traditional more thinly sliced pieces. The rolls were pretty average and I can’t say I was too impressed with the ones that we got as they were a bit on the spicy, yet bland side. Decent for a quick bite, but I definitely prefer other spots to this.

No this isn’t based on the sci-fi flick from Guillermo del Torro, Pacific Rim is actually owned by a middle-aged Asian man who greeted us when we arrived. I’m not 100% sure, but I’d guess he’s never directed a feature film. Located just off of 183 and Burnet, you’ll find Pacific Rim near Trudy’s North Star. Parking in this shopping center is abundant, but it is incredibly hard to secure a spot even though there’s a ton of spaces. There are just so many businesses crammed in here. On a random Wednesday night, I looked through my bookmarks to find a place to eat. I knew PR hosted a Unilocal elite event a few months back and I didn’t get a chance to go. Since they were nice enough to us elites, I thought I’d give them a go. We were immediately seated and greeted with the sounds of an easy listening band. It was a bunch of middle-aged men that take their craft far too seriously. That saxophone player was squinting harder than me when my hernia pops out suddenly and with force. He was really feeling the sweet tunes the band was putting down. Albeit a notch or two too loud and incredibly cheesy, I actually really enjoyed it and couldn’t stop from laughing while shaking my shoulders. There’s happy hour here every day from three to close. Holy convenience, Batman. It’s not a true happy hour. It’s just a menu of food that they call happy hour. Everything is pretty cheap though. For around $ 40 we got beef yakitori, veggie yakitori, bacon wrapped scallops, shrimp tempura, coconut shrimp, unagi roll, 4 pieces of nigiri, and a sake sangria(a little light on the alcohol). This is definitely a place to go if you’re at least thirty, don’t know what great Asian food tastes like, and want a cute little date night. Be sure to wear your mom jeans and button down shirts, fellas! Ladies, wear that flowy top you’ve had since the early 2000’s! The food wasn’t bad, but the sushi was along the lines of what I could get at HEB. Nothing super special going on here in that department. The service was really good though. Our server, who went nameless, was really nice and prompt with everything. I’m hoping that there are some things on the normal menu that are actually worth trying. Maybe I’ll come back some time to give them another shot.

Since I can’t really account for like 98% of the menu here, I will say I think the major grab here is that it’s practically always happy hour. Everyday until close. Even weekends. $ 2 off cocktails & wine, $ 1 off beer or sake, etc. Our service was great, and I had no idea what yakitori was but I do now. When we were seated we were informed that there would be karaōke in the bar area at 9pm, though we didn’t get to stick around for that. I’m sure that would have been amusing. The bar area had some cozy looking seating a plenty of spots to sit at the bar. I enjoyed my apple martini, which was quite strong! I especially liked my HH priced sake mac n cheese. We also shared the vegetable yaki-udon which I would definitely order again. With options like creamy jalapeño pumpkin soup, egg roll nachos and a very lengthy drink menu, I’m thinking this place is at the top of my list for best happy hours on the north side.

Leaning towards four stars here for the value but the food can be hit or miss. BFF and I came here for HH yesterday. Btw, EVERYONE comes in for HH because it’s ALWAYSHH… from 3-close every day. We walked in around 5:00 to a pretty dead place. Immediately upon entering, our noses were assaulted by a distinct sewage smell… sewage and sushi, NOT a good combo. We got as far away from that smell as possible and sat at the bar. Rob, the sole bartender, was super friendly and gracious, immediately explaining the vast HH menu and then also the regular menu. Just FYI, a lot of stuff on the regular menu is really only a dollar or two more than the HH menu, so everything is definitely reasonable. Given the recent mass sport obsession, BFF and I decided to go 12 rounds with Pacific Rim. Bff started off with the fish egg shooter which burned all the way down in a good way with its spicy sauce and sake. Then he had the miso, which, for $ 3, was some of the best we’d had. We then just dug into the yakitori, sampling three throughout the evening: the baby octopus(almost too cute to eat… I was too busy making them dance the can-can across the bar), the bacon wrapped scallops, and the pork belly. All were great, but DATPORKBELLY, DOH. All had a great grilled char on them and a fantastic teryaki sauce that even made the accompanying cucumbers taste good. We also ordered the sake mac and cheese. My immediate feeling was it was a bit bland and not enough salt, so I started adding a little soy sauce to it which definitely brought out the sake flavor. Probably the best mad scientist chemistry experiment I’ve done all year(btw, adding wasabi to tthe mix was an epic fail… don’t get cray). As for the rest, we had some sushi and a couple of rolls, including the special of the nite, a lobster tempura roll. Honestly, I wasn’t super impressed with any of the sushi items. In particular, I don’t even know what I was thinking ordering lobster TEMPURA. That sweet succulent meat should never be battered and fried! I think my brain stopped listening when Rob said«lobster» and I just didn’t realize this was gonna come out with large chunks of fried lobster on top of decent sized roll pieces. Very awkward to eat, impossible for me to pick it up with chopsticks, much less get it all in my mouth(save the comments!), and in the end, very little flavor. Also the last two pieces had shrimp tails in them… you can’t fool me. I KNOW those aren’t pygmy lobsters! In the end, BFF and I were knocked out by the 10th round. And just like a «Mayweather Hug», that lobster roll sounded great but was our complete undoing. However, all that food, plus three drinks each, was only $ 91! BFF and I felt like we stole some sushi, so we guiltily tipped Rob big and waddled out. I realize Pacific Rim hasn’t been open long and we were told they are still tweaking the menu. We enthusiastically voted for them to make the pork belly skewers a permanant fixture, and I am interested to return for more of those and to try the specialty sashimis and other items off the regular dinner menu. At these prices, I“d be a Pacquiao not to!

We had a fantastic experience last night at Pacific Rim. Looks like they’re still working through some of the kinks given how the reviews are all over the place but our experience was really nice. Nice… and totally affordable. Here’s what we had: Udon soup with fried chicken Peppered tuna, avocado salad Lamb Yakitori A quail egg shooter 1 suzuki 2 hamachi 1 sake 3 escolar 2 nigiri sake toro 1 leap of faith roll And our bill was $ 58 dollars. I couldn’t even buy all those things at the store for that much. They have happy hour like, all the time. Seriously. Mon-Fri 3-close, Sat-Sun 5-close. It’s so nice inside and they have a yakitori lounge. What does that mean? Glad ya asked. It’s skewers of stuff(chicken, lamb, beef) grilled over Binchotan charcoal. Apparently you can go hang out in this separate room and they grill meat right in front of you. The yakitori was great, the sashimi was delicious… oddly the only thing that wasn’t good was the sushi roll. The udon soup wasn’t my favorite either(chicken dry.) Looks like they have karaōke on some nights and I definitely plan to go back.
