I used to go to OK Corral all the time on Wednesdays, which is their best night. After a while I got tired of them playing so much damn Tribal once that trend came in. I also began to dislike the teen crowd with the overly pointy cowboy boots and aeropostale t shirts. It was harder to find a partner that new how to actually dance cumbia than it was at Rodeo. Overall Rodeo is a much better club and OK Corral is second best. These are really the two only good clubs of its kind. Dont ever go to Carnaval on Riverside.

I’m not at all surprised that I am the first person to review OK Corral, even though it has been open for over a year. The reason I am the first person? Because the moment I walked in, I realized I was no longer in Unilocal territory. I’m pretty sure I was teleported to a discoteca in Rio Grande Valley… and I thought those were just your standard metal detectors at the door! OK, here’s the deal if you muster up the courage to head on down to the Corral: I had a 5 star night, but this is definitely no 5 star place. There was a $ 5 cover, which you can get out of with a wink and a smile at the right person(if you’re a girl). I wouldn’t have minded paying the 5 bucks because drinks were $ 2 all night, very smart! I went on a Thursday, but I’m fairly certain this might be the case every night. They have quite possibly the worst djs in the entire world, not that it matters because people are going to be shaking it on the dance floor as long as there’s a beat. They mixed up some horrible house techno stuff, hip hop, A LOT of salsa/tejano and a little bit of country music. Mexicans love to dance! This place is a HUGE ego boost for the ladies… it is 100% guaranteed that you will get hit on and asked to dance repeatedly at this club. The downside is that you’ll want to say yes about 5% of the time, and it is very likely that he doesn’t speak much English. But hey, if you’re out for a good time then be polite and let him spin you around the floor for a song or two. The problem comes when you’re done dancing because he probably will not be. Also, if you don’t want to get punched in the face, be sure you’re not dancing with someone else’s man. I saw two full-on fights break out on the dance floor, females were involved in both. This must happen often because guys with«staff» written on the back of their shirts were there in a flash to break it up. I guess that’s why they have the old school punching bag machine in the corner a la Urban Cowboy. I really did have a blast here — great dancing and people watching, cheap booze and fights, what more could you ask for?! Go with a group of your most open-minded friends and remember this phrase«este es mi novio». Aye yai yai!
