If you’re looking for this park at the 1100 Nueces location noted, you’ll be disappointed. It’s on 9th Street just west of West Street. I spent many an errant morning when I should have been in class perfecting how I was going to destroy myself by riding a BMX bike. It’s also a great place to sit and watch those who might have more intestinal fortitude than a human should. It might look like a lawless free for all, but it is not. Many of the jumps are no joke and getting in the way could be a very bad thing. Be aware.

The ‘Ninth Street Jumps’ are an area of trails and dirt ramps(20+) in a pocket park just west of downtown Austin. If you’ve got a BMX and some balls, you’ve gotta come out. For over 15 years, this park has been a labor of love for the amazing BMX enthusiasts who care for it. An all volunteer effort, this place is surprisingly well maintained. The city has *nothing* to do with it, so ride at your own risk, and for f*cks sake, wear protection. I first came here when I was about 13 — and had an amazing time — until I botched a landing after a 12 foot vertical jump, and took a pretty serious tumble. Kids come here often, but they need to be careful, because the park is frequented by older, more experienced and *much bigger* riders. Mountain bikers *are not welcome*. Your tires will shred and destroy the jumps — and if you don’t leave when asked, you may just get you ass kicked.
