«My girlfriend is a vegetarian which pretty much makes me a vegetarian too.» Same here. So I was excited to see some of the reviews for Mr Natural. The food doesn’t disappoint. I got the vegan bacon cheese burger with some reservations. As It turns out, it was quite good. Possibly the best plant based burger I’ve ever had. Easily better than some meat burgers I’ve eaten. My better half opted for the tofu tamales and they were good too. Can’t wait to hit this spot again and try something else. And the vegan baked goods looked pretty damned good as well.

For regular, reasonably inexpensive and casual dining this is one of our favorite restaurants in Austin. The food is almost always delicious, the staff are friendly and a pleasure to deal with and the owners are very nice. The restaurant is clean and has ample space for its customers. I like the atmosphere and being able to stroll around and look at the items in the adjoining store that are not in most places. We have been dozens of times and plan on continuing our visit there. Their quality control is good. They even call our six month old granddaughter by her first name when we walk in.

Mr Natural is a lot of things… it’s a restaurant, it’s a bakery, and a store. I went in for the bakery items. There’s another vegan bakery in the same vicinity but Mr Natural has a better selection of pastry and cookie items. I bought an apple thing, a pineapple empanada, and a gingerbread person. For the pineapple I had a choice of gluten free or whole wheat flour so that was cool. All 3 things were delicious. I’m so sad that there is no vegan bakery where I live. The variety of baked goods here is excellent!

Unfortunately I was quite underwhelmed with our dinner experience here last night. :-(We are both vegetarians so we were excited by the idea of an all veggie restaurant. The wait staff were nice and quite attentive, but sadly the food wasn’t very good. My hubby had a veggie burrito, which was very bland and I had the veggie BBQ, which was decently spiced but the texture was just not enjoyable at all. It was very rubbery and just not good. I ate about 3 pieces and then stuck to the rice and beans that I had. We would have loved to give this place a better review, especially as vegetarian food is hard to come by in meat-loving Texas and because we love family-run businesses, but the food was just not very good. :-(

Food is okay. I had to season everything on my plate though. I have been here twice and service has been pretty terrible on both occasions. The first time, I waited over 45 minutes for my appetizer and over an hour for my meal. I was alone and the place was not that crowded but the server assured me they were understaffed. Speaking of the server, I had to ask him what the holdup was, as he did not check on me after I ordered. However, he did stop at one table and brought them free chips and dip, along with water, since there was a wait. Note that this table ordered after me. Maybe he just didn’t like me? Who knows. But I tried them again and this time my food sat on the counter while two employees talked over it. Once, I stood up, they finally brought my food. Likewise, part of my order was incorrect. needless to say, I did not like either experience at this establishment.

Ahhhhmazing! We’ve been going to all the recommended vegan places in Austin but this was hands down the best. Authentic and well priced. Get the avocado vinaigrette. It goes with everything!

Vegan and vegetarian friendly. And it’s Mexican, never seen a Mexican restaurant that caters to people like us. There’s nothing like this place anywhere else. And the food is great. One of the most memorable restaurants I’ve been to. I always tell everyone going to Austin about this one.

I have been here several times. It is a very convenient location to visit because a lot of their food is reasonably priced. Their vegan relleno was really delicious and I recommend it. However, both of the sanwhiches that I had were mediocre. The vegan chili fries were not very good. I also ordered a vegan quesadilla for my daughter and she couldn’t eat it because it was just a flour tortilla with a pinch of vegan shreds(not melted) inside. She picked it up and it all just fell apart. So disappointing. ***HOLIDAY*** We bought the pecan and pumpkin pie for thanksgiving and they were really, really good. (Pricey, imo, but that’s what I get for being lazy this year).

Came here around 11 for breakfast. I got the breakfast sandwich, made vegan. Took awhile to come out and I have to say I was disappointed. I have been here a few times previously, but only for the baked goods. The bread was somewhat soggy. It was just generally… unsatisfying. But again, the baked goods are EXCELLENT. Though I will say they have a sign that hanging about the baked goods case that says«vegan bakery», and some of their stuff says it has honey in it in the displayed ingredient list. Honey is NOT vegan. Also, some of the stuff, for example the muffins, are not labeled as vegan but I asked and the woman behind the counter she said everything is vegan? So then why are some items labeled vegan and some not? Doesn’t match up with with wether there is honey in it or not either, just seems arbitrary.

I’ve come here since moving to Austin in 2004 and I love it. My favorite migas in Austin, amazing brownies and tres leches, and their lunch special is great for when you’re looking for something quick and healthy. My only complaint is that I used to enjoy coming on Saturday mornings for breakfast and catching up on the news with my iPad. Unfortunately, they don’t have a wi-fi network anymore, so I’ve been driving to the other location on south Lamar, or to other breakfast places with wi-fi. I spoke to a manager today and was told that there are no plans to bring it back.

Just had the avocado veggie sandwich — but it was good. For $ 7 I got a tasty, fresh sandwich with fresh French fries. Nice service, good perks system. Sandwich was basically what I always wanted my thunder cloud veggie delight sub to taste like and never does. Totally plan to go back

Slow service. Glacially so. Not worth the time. The baked goods are tasty though so maybe just take some home.

Refreshingly non-hipster, non-pretentious Mexican run vegetarian joint. Went for the lunch special, which was a great deal and delicious overall. The veggie chorizo and potato tacos were my favorite.

I’ve been dining at Mr. Natural for about 5 years now, so this review is a bit overdue. I have a lot to say, so I’ll break it down into categories. For starters, the NICEST family owns this restaurant. They are all so sweet and kind and always make me feel super welcome. — Lunch Menu: Lunch is served up cafeteria style, where you go to the counter and pick out what main dish you want, as well as sides. The menu changes each day of the week(which can be found on their website listed as «weekly lunch special menu»). My favorite is on Saturdays when they offer the Milanesa and the Tofu Pipian. — Dinner Menu: For dinner, you sit down and order from the menu. I love their tamales and their refried beans are so excellent! — Thanksgiving Eve Dinner: Each Thanksgiving the restaurant cooks up home-made veggie turkey with gravy and a bunch of side dishes(mashed potatoes, rosemary squash, cranberry sauce, green beans…). So much food for only $ 12. — First Sunday Vegan Brunch Buffet: For the last year or so, Mr. Natural has been doing a brunch on the first Sunday of every month. The menu is always changing up and sometimes their are themes(recently there was an Italian theme). They usually always offer their fried seitan chicken with agave-mustard(seriously my favorite). They post the menu to their facebook page. I’ve been to about 5 or 6 of them and always leave there absolutely stuffed on yumminess. I don’t know how they keep out-doing themselves, finding more creative ideas to add to the menu. Again, so much food and the price is only $ 17. You can go back up for seconds or thirds or fourths… There is always a great dessert spread too. — Bakery: Where to start? It’s all amazing. Mini chocolate donuts. Bavarian cream cones. Tiramisu. Tres leches cake. Strawberry shortcake… Most things in their bakery are vegan or can be made vegan. I order all of my cakes from here. I’m in love with the coconut cake. My favorite thing about it is the light and fluffy icing, the kind you can eat without getting a stomach ache. So naturally, I ordered 4-tiers of it for my wedding. It was beautifully decorated with fondant flowers. The baker, Jesus, is amazingly talented at decorating cakes. I recently had him make me a tiramisu cake with a chestburster coming out of it for my husbands birthday! It was insane! –Catering: I also hired Mr. Natural to cater my wedding. We veered off the traditional restaurant menu and had caesar salad, roasted potatoes, green beans with almonds, fried seitan chicken with agave-mustard, lasagna and macaroni and cheese(everything vegan). The food was fabulous as was working with Jesus to design the menu and do a taste-testing before hand. So to recap: Awesome food! Definitely go to one of the Sunday brunches! Super nice family! Amazing baked goods! Very well priced. Oh, they are closed on Sundays… I always forget…

This place is like… 4.5 stars. Almost perfect. My husband and I are vegetarian and we went here at about noon, when we were REALLY hungry. I had the Mexican pancake, and, while it it not actually a pancake, it was absolutely delicious. It was super-filling(black beans, 2 eggs, potatoes, etc). The sauce was really good, too. Just the right level of spicy and flavorful. My husband had one of the burgers and was really happy with his food, as well. We also ordered an horchata, which, while tasty, was way too expensive for how much we got. But otherwise, the prices were so reasonable, and the atmosphere is really pleasant… diner-y. I think when it gets to be a little less hot, the outdoor patio would be a really nice area to hang out. They also sell vegan pastries, cakes, tamales, and a bunch of health foods(teas, supplements, etc). We’ll definitely be back, and probably bring some friends. Also, it’s on a really convenient bike route, if you happen to be coming by bike.

Really good food. Lots of vegan baked goods. Even vegan tiramisu! Probably my favorite vegan burger in Austin. I’d give five stars but the wait staff /register people are always grumpy, impatient and a little stuck up.

I came in for lunch. The food was really tasty and the lunch special is a great option. They have loads of choices and it was hard deciding what to get. I’m not a vegetarian and I didn’t care because the tortillas were made in house, the mole sauce was amazing, and the avocado yogurt dressing was delicious. I have no complaints at all about this place except that the parking sucks. This was my first time here and I was hungry so this review might change when I go back less hungry.

All vegetarian Tex-Mex? I wanted to love this place, but no matter how many times I try it, I leave unimpressed. In my opinion, vegetarians and vegans can get much better food at non-vegetarian restaurants in Austin than at Mr. Natural.

These guys have been doing salud, sabroso y gracioso for eons. Here’s how: –Spicy vegan variety dished by gracious and lovely staff. –Exceptional salads topped with unforgettable avocado yoghurt dressing. –Clearly marked gluten-free options. –Thick corn tortillas and plenty of eye candy in the bakery case. –Extensive array of supplements/vitamins/alt-health in the adjacent space. The whole enchilada: Mr. Natural is an all-occasions, affordable destination for local, healthy, and piquant fare. Bonus: if the dog days of Texas summer have got you panting, pull in here for the smoothies and agua frescas on flaked ice!

Will try to keep this short n sweet. Usually my reviews are long-winded lol. First time here, won’t be the last. Love this place. Chill, quiet. Nice staff, delicious food. Has a wellness shop connected to it which sells vitamins, etc. Think there’s a yoga spot next door, too. Great little Austin spot. Had the breakfast sandwich and a breakfast taco. Both were fresh, flavorful, and just great. I think you can order/have them make most of their menu items vegan. Cool beans, especially for lent. Found another new favorite spot in town.

Mr Natural, tu eres lo que más me gusta de Austin. Mr. Natural has the same menu day-in and day-out with some new dishes introduced every couple of months. This may bother some, but the home-style comfort of there tamales, gorditas, nopales, carrot salad, chayote and other Mexican vegetarian options is second-to-none. I like variety and novelty on my plate, but when I’ve had a rough day and need some comfort food, I head over to Sr. Natural, order a lunch special with carrot-pineapple salad, tofu and sunflower seed tamales, black beans and chayote accompanied by a large glass of delicious Spinach and Pineapple Agua Fresca. I do have to say that I tried going Gluten-Free for a year and their desert selections are dry and tasteless. Spend your gluten-free calories elsewhere. The regular Vegan options are delectable, however. I often crave their vegan brownies, semitas and empanadas. Mr Natural, como te extraño…
