Pretty solid tacos. I’d eat there again. However, as a vegetarian not vegan I thought they could benefit from something creamy(plain yogurt, cheese, etc) which I realise isn’t a super fair critique of a vegan trailer.

I was a little skeptical trying this trailer(quinoa, potatoes, & corn tortilla sounds like a bland taco to me), but ITISSOGOOD. I’m not vegan and this trailer is still one of my top 3 places in Austin for tacos. It seems like it’s still a bit of a hidden gem, since it’s never been too crowded when I’ve gone(so no long wait). I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from Cool Beans, but my all time favorite is the Warrior Taco. The«q-rizo» is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten and their homemade tortillas are on point!

And you may find yourself, eating from a vegan trailer And you may find yourself, in another part of Austin And you may find yourself, behind the wheel of a large automobile And you may find yourself, in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife, And you may ask yourself Well…how did I get here? Letting the days go by Let the water hold me down Letting the days go by Water flowing underground Into the blue again After the money’s gone Once in a lifetime Water flowing underground And you may ask yourself, how do I eat this? And you may ask yourself, where is that large automobile? And you may tell yourself, this is not my beautiful house And you may tell yourself, this is not my beautiful– ************************ (Editor’s note: We’ll interrupt the rest of this to disclose Errol M stopped listening to music after the 80’s, and occasionally suffers from bouts of «tripping.» Cool Beans is a trailer in the backyard of Friends & Neighbors, they make vegan tacos & tamales, and quite possibly the best corn tortillas in Austin. The refried beans are outstanding. Chef Priscilla is devoted to her craft. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays.)

I first tried this truck at the ATX Vegan meetup. Ordered the nachos, the vegan queso is good! But nachos were… meh! Maybe try some tacos next time.

I’m not vegan, but I am Hispanic and know good Mexican food when I taste it. The owners of Cool Beans have done a wonderful job of keeping the flavors I expect with their meat-free and healthy menu. I tried their tamales which were wonderfully sweet, soft and cooked to perfection. Their chips and salsa were fresh. But what really won me over was the charro beans, oh yeah, they’re damn good. If you’re in the neighborhood, even if you’re not vegan, definitely stop by and try this food truck.

I want to try everything! Holy Cool Beans, they literally have THEBEST charro beans I have ever put in my mouth. I don’t even ever order charro beans because they are never good. This food truck has vegan down right. They are parked in the backyard of Friends and Neighbors. Go there. It’s worth it.

Loved their portobello mushroom tacos and street corn. The sweetness of the carmalized onions were perfect. I could eat more!

Super quality tacos, maybe a bit smaller than I would have liked but ultimately satisfying. I got all three at once the Warrior, the Native, and the Outcast. They are just super quality, and so tasty. I really like The Vegan Nom but Cool Bean’s tortillas are hands down the best tortillas I’ve yet to try in Austin.

I’m not personally vegan, but these tacos and tamales are delicious regardless of whether you are a carnivore, omnivore or herbivore. I love how the food stays true to the flavors of Mexican food. The corn tortillas are home-made, charred and truly taste like corn rather than other more rubbery tortillas you may find. I had a taco with pineapple in it and it had all the great flavors of a perfect al pastor taco. I also had one with grilled mushrooms which was very flavorful. The salsas are also fresh and add a nice kick to the tacos. The staff are incredibly friendly. You can tell they have a passion for this food and it shows in the quality. We called after they were supposed to close and they stayed open to make us some tacos. They also gave us some tamales to try. These were also fantastic and came with a coconut cream sauce that’s to die for. East 7th eats is really starting to develop into one of the great places to get food in Austin and this place is a big reason why.

Everything smelled amazing and I was beyond excited to try their food. I almost started whining and complaining. because one taco was taking more than 10 min to prepare and I was their only customer… BUT after unwrapping the most beautiful taco I have ever laid eyes on I must say, I’m glad I maintained my hangry-inclinations and held out for this delicious creation! «The Warrior» taco, small but mighty, made with perfectly spiced quinoa chorizo, potato, fresh onions and cilantro all tucked inside a thick, perfectly cooked homemade corn tortilla(almost the consistency of a corn cake or polenta cake) literally blew my tastebuds away!!! I would wait 45 min for that bad boy again! Vegan, organic, plant based and primarily locally sourced… I have NEVER given 5 stars to a food truck and am happy to say I would give them 6 if I could! Well done!!! #glutenfree #vegan #eastaustinfood

I’m lovin’ the vegan taco craze and this place is a new up and comer! Most popular items are«The Native» and«The Warrior.» They were both fantastic, especially on top of homemade corn tortillas. Spelt flour tortillas are probably spot on as well, but they were out when I went. I will be back to try those next time. Tamales, too. The staff is super friendly and laid back. Apparently their agua frescas will cure your hangover. And they even serve your food on a recycled, re-shaped record. How cool is that? If you love tacos and enjoy eating plant based meals, then you gotta give this truck a try.

I tried this place the day I moved away from the east side and had serious regrets. Not about the food but about moving. I had the Native on corn and the Outcast on flour… oh my goodness. I’m not sure I’ve had handmade tortillas, not like this anyway, and they put a big ol slice of grilled pineapple on the Native – it was glorious. The sauteed mushrooms on the Outcast were perfect as well. I also tried the soup and can’t remember what it was called but it was full of beans and veggies. I ate everything on the way home and *may* have swigged the salsa remnants because oh my god, the salsas. My only regret is that there wasn’t more of everything… and the fact that I’m moving even farther away of course.

You can’t tell it’s Vegan. Seriously. Coming from a border town, the Q-Rizo reminded me of many Papas con Chorizo tacos I had growing up. If you’re a Vegan or even if you’ve never tried Vegan food, this is the place for you!

Homemade tortillas, and organic plant based Mexican food! I cut back on meat and cut out dairy for health reasons and this place is a really great option. Salsa was fresh and the food was just perfect. will definitely return. This was the second hit vegetarian truck I’ve tried this week. Right up there with arlos!

These tacos are crazy good. I had the q-rizo taco and the tamales and both were outstanding. The hibiscus tea was dillicious as well. The location is a bit hard to spot from 7th, its across the street from kebabalicious.

These tacos are ridiculously good. My family of 5 came and initially ordered 6 tacos and 2 tamales. By the time we left, we had eaten 14 tacos and 4 tamales. They were serving a quinoa chorizo taco and a marinated mushroom and both of them were delicious. And the homemade tortillas are some of the best I’ve ever had. Whether you are vegan or not, I would definitely recommend trying this place out.

This is the only vegan Mexican food truck in town! I was surprised at the relative cheap price of the menu. The tortillas are made by hand, and their refried beans are to die for. I recommend this for anyone walking through East Austin look for a vegan option with a bit of a kick.
