For a while I’ve long stared at the Menchies that shared the Hancock Center as my usual HEB, waiting for it to finally open its doors. It’s been open for several months now, and we took the opportunity to satisfy our froyo fix one last time before the hot summer weather ends(anyyyyy day now, right?). This is our first Menchies experience anywhere so I wasn’t sure what to expect. First of all, I like the décor. The bright colors of pink and green filled the entire interior. It’s not anything extraordinary, but it still makes a really comfortable, happy place to hang out. I’m diggin it already. Some froyo establishments specializes in fruit flavors, and some specializes in sugary dessert flavors. After my first visit, I’m not sure which side Menchies is on. Flavors that stuck out ranged from the common Cake Batter, Cookies n’ Cream, Strawberry, and Plain Tart. There were also unique ones like Cinnamon Churro, Pineapple Sorbet, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Irish Mint. Of course, some flavors I enjoyed more than others, but the ones I did like, I liked a lot. I ended up following my usual«dump everything I like together haphazardly» method of eating froyo and got a Cake Batter/Cookies n’ Cream/Pineapple Sorbet combo with cookie dough and orange slice toppings. It was good and sweet, and the Pineapple Sorbet tastes really refreshing. They have the fun spoons too!(we ended up taking ours home) $ 0.49 an ounce. Get ‘em while it’s still hot out. Did Menchies make me a loyal, returning customer after one visit? Not yet, but every time before I go shopping at that HEB, I’ll still take a quick glance in Menchies’ direction. And some of those times, I know I’ll just think, «why not?»
