OH. MY. GOD!!! Made the first of many, many more trips to Me LLamo Taco(behind the Farmer’s Market on Burnet) yesterday. How Ryan, the owner, can make the most fabulous chicken fajita tacos in this little yellow trailer is beyond me. Seriously… five stars! Homemade flour tortillas as light as air, guacamole that I could eat by the gallon and chicken that melts in your mouth. I’m a Mexican food fanatic and trust me when I say this is the best in Austin!

I know, I know, I feel awful saying so, but I can’t figure out how this place is 5 stars? I recently went for breakfast tacos – bacon, egg and cheese, potato, egg and cheese, and bean and cheese on corn. The first disappointment was how teeny tiny they were, omg so small, $ 2 is too much. Second, they just lacked anything special. I feel terrible saying so, but I thought they were rather bland and comparable to what I could make at home. :( I ended up still being so hungry after finishing my tacos, I ordered more food from another trailer. I like the location at Mueller, and it made for a nice Sunday morning with the farmers market and a walk around the pond, but unfortunately Austin is a town spoiled by great tacos all over the place, and I think as such, it will be a while before I give Me Llamo Tacos’s lunch tacos a try.

Oh my gosh, I’m slightly tinkering on 4.5 stars but I’m going to round up – my first thought when biting into their tacos was«ssooo goood» despite the fact that we went at 11:30 and missed out on breakfast, scooped up the remainder of their mango agua fresca, and that they were also out of some other stuff(flour tortillas) that we had wanted. All this proves is that a. we are lazy, eating«breakfast» at 11:30, and b. they were totally apologetic about running out of certain things so early because they are SOPOPULAR and delicious and everyone that lives in the area knows it! Regardless, totally go for the Cochinita and the Vampiro(the favorites of who I’m presuming is probably the owner), and hopefully you get sides of guac. I love that it’s only a skip away in Mueller and you can eat at the picnic tables directly outside or under the rounded covering and then skip on down around the lake. If you read only one thing: GETTHEVAMPIRO, and go early to get their agua fresca. Also, I’d recommend getting corn tortillas. Will definitely be back to try their breakfast tacos, which my roommate constantly raves about!

I love how Unilocal keeps on wanting to correct me every time I type in «Me Llamo Taco»… it’ll ask me if I mean«Alamo Taco». No, no, I mean what I wrote… never heard of Alamo Taco, Unilocal.:p Anyway, I finally tried this food truck for day, after telling myself for weeks that I was going to visit the bright yellow truck. So glad I did! It’s on Airport Boulevard/Mueller Central Drive, in the Lake Park area. You can’t miss it… there’s 4 other food trucks with Me Llamo Taco.(Coincidentally, the 4 other trucks are ALL on my «must try» list, too… and now I know exactly where they area.) They’ve got breakfast and lunch tacos… I got there around noon or so, so they were only serving lunch tacos — no problem, cuz I love me some tacos. Walked up to the bright yellow truck, and was greeted by a very nice guy. I decided on the chicken fajita taco, a beef fajita taco, and the cochinita taco(Pulled pork slow-braised in onion, chipotle, achiote and cabbage.)(Stole that right from their website… I’m so handy, aren’t I?) Oh, ordered myself a Mexican Coke, too,(seriously, extra bonus points and gold stars and rainbows to any food truck that offers Mexican Coke. I hate soda, except for Mexican Coke. Woo!), and the nice guy told me he’d bring my food out to me. Went and sat in the shade,(the little food truck park has several picnic tables that are shaded. very nice!), and people-watched for a while. Within minutes, he was bringing me my food. A random guy who was sitting at the table with me, drinking a coffee from Elixir, said«Wow, those look great — where’d you get them from?», and I pointed and say«At Me Llamo Taco!», and he promptly went over and bought some, too.(Yeah, how’s that for instant advertising?) Bit into them, and yum! My favorite was the Cochinita taco. I love pulled pork. I ordered this one on a corn tortilla, and the fajita ones on flour tortillas. This place gets fairy dust and sprinkles and unicorn stickers for having home-made tortillas. The food was really good — I’d come here again. I can’t wait to try the breakfast tacos! P. S. They have aguas frescas! I’ll try them the next time I’m there.

They totally get five stars for their OUTSTANDING customer service! After I left a(less than flattering) review, the owner immediately reached out to make it right. And that is exactly what he did~ he brought breakfast tacos to our office(on my birthday no less!)~ they were very good, plus a dessert that was FANTASTIC(and went very well with my coffee at 9:30AM). I can’t wait to try some of their other menu items! I wish Ryan all the success in the world!

Can I give them 0 stars? I have never posted a Unilocal review before, but I am so annoyed with my lunch experience today that I need to vent… and it was so bad that I felt it warranted a review. I received an email that Me Llamo Taco would be right down the street from my office today and decided to go there. When I arrived, there were probably 30 – 40 people outside but I assumed it was just because it was noon and everyone was taking lunch. I thought they would be getting orders out quick. I was completely wrong!!! I stood there for about 15 minutes after ordering before I found out how excruciatingly slow orders were coming out. Eventually, I walked back to my office and got my car since I could no longer stand the 102 degree heat, sat in my car for another 20 minutes, and finally got my food an hour and 10 minutes later. I am not going to lie, the tacos were really good, but(1) I will not wait over an hour for anything but a free lunch at Uchi– maybe a warning about the wait time when I placed my order would have been nice,(2) by the time I got my food, they were out of rice and I got the last salsa. He half-way apologized and said I could wait… they were making more. As if I had not been waiting long enough. At this point, it would have been nice if he had offered to comp the food since I waited over an hour and did not even get what I originally paid for, right? Customer Service 101– if people are really unsatisfied, offer them something for free to at least try to make up for it AND apologize like you really mean it. I realized I had tipped them too. I almost got back out my car to walk over and take my $ 1 tip out of the tip jar, but I decided it wasn’t even worth my time and effort at this point.

My first review was one star but based on the amazing after the fact customer service we received I’m revising. These guys really did a great job of responding to our concerns from the first experience and the make up tacos were pretty awesome.

EDITEDREVIEW: The first review was given 1 star because there was not communication from the vendor to customers regarding slow wait times. It turns out this was a trial run(Up at Spicewood and Mopac(executive center dr) The lunch truck was taking about an hour per order and in 105 degree heat, people were not happy Anyway, they were having a test run, and they were cooking items to order, which was nice, but because the truck was ill-fitted and the crowd was more than expected things got out of hand quick. Here is why they get 5 stars. CUSTOMERSERVICE. The owner, personally contacted me after I expressed my displeasure with the experience, and while I took my anger out on him, he could not have been nicer and more understanding. This guy is a master of his craft, he took a one time customer and was able to convince me to give him a second chance. He is also bringing breakfast tacos to my office as a way to make up for it. The food was good, and the experience was bad, but given the information after the fact, plus the way he tried to keep a customer… so many people would just say oh well, but he went above and beyond to save one customer, that is the kind of business I will support again and again. Amazing.

I am from Mexico City so tacos are a way of life for me! Me Llamo Taco is the first place I have ever had vegan tacos that are worthy of an authentic taquería. That is only the beginning, the fresh salsas and guacamole are amazing. Me Llamo Taco can be a bit tough to find but do yourself the favor it is worth the effort and the drive. I have also had Me Llamo Taco cater two corporate events for me. At both they have received rave reviews and there was NOTHING left even though we over ordered. In full disclosure, I know the owner Ryan. He is a great person and is an example of what a father and husband should be, the type of guy you can’t help but like. When he told me he was leaving a great job to open up a food trailer I will admit I thought he was nuts. He has made me and everyone who has had the pleasure of dining with him believers!

Its a bit of «Find the giant yellow trailer» game at first– you have to find it behind the Burnett Farmers Market, but oh my goodness its so worth it! It’s like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The owner himself takes the order and there’s a good selection of not-your-average tacos to choose from, with more on the way apparently, I ordered 2 and the owner said he’d bring them out when they were ready and asked if I wanted my drink now or with my meal… it’s not a huge thing but I like the extra care and service for sure! First up was the Vampiro has 2 corn tortillas glued together with cheese(awesome) then some perfect little chopped beef pieces covered in an incredible sauce– it was a good amount of heat and the flavor was real clean and complimented the seasoning on the meat. Then came the beef fajita, it’s my comfort food and my guide to judging a place– if they can’t get a fajita right, then what are they doing? This fajita taco was amazing, the onions and peppers didn’t overpower meat and my most favorite part-little bite site pieces of fajita meat! I hate taking a bite of a fajita taco and some bit of fat or sinew pulling the whole piece of meat out, but the small bites solve the problem! Can’t wait to go back for breakfast!

So depending on how you look at things this could be good news or bad news… but Me Llamo Taco is going to use its wheels to go completely mobile. The bad news there is that they won’t always be within shot for lunch and/or breakfast. The good news is that I no longer have to choose between Me Llamo Taco and Bud’s Poboys. I encourage you to go here before they go mobile just to see if it’s worth it to you to follow them when they do start to move. For me, it’s a no brainer… I will be following them for sure. The homemade flour tortillas are fantastic. These guys also make all their sauces from scratch. The meats are cooked over a grill with charcoal and woodchips. It all adds up to delicious tacos. The Vampiro taco was just flat out fantastic. The only down side here is that the selection of tacos is very limited. Even with that, I would highly recommend this place for a really solid overall experience. I will be dragging my friends here as soon as they let me!

Me encanta Me Llamo Taco.(translation: Damn, these freakin’ tacos rock.) Here are my Top 10 for why you will encanta it, too. 10. The owner, Ryan, is probably the nicest, hardest working guy on planet earth. He personally takes your order, cooks and brings it out to you. Talk about caring. 9. Their carne asada is the most tender, perfectly cooked meat in Texas. 8. Sauces galore! Cilantro and chipotle, avocado cilantro, pineapple cucumber, etc.(mmm…sauces…) 7. Homemade corn tortillas that stay intact down the last delicious bite. 6. On Saturdays, there’s a really fun Farmer’s Market right outside Me Llamo Taco. After you order you can walk around and the owner will personally find you and bring your food to you. It’s VIP treatment. 5. Fresh coffee to kickstart your day. It’s like $ 1 or something insanely cheap. 4. Grilled chicken with charred onions and bell peppers with a tequila-lime marinade that will make your mouth water. 3. The Peppa Pig. Say no more. 2. Vegan choices, if you’re into that sorta thing ;) 1. Authentic San Antonio-style tacos that are soon to become the next big thing in Austin. It’s tucked away off Burnet but once you see that big yellow trailer, you’ll know you’re in the right place. Enjoy!

Hola, Taco. Me llamo Jenny. Como estas? Bien? Poner tacos in mi boca, por favor. So, this new trailer is hidden. Really well. If you’re on Burnet, it’s behind the empty Farmer’s Market. Behind Pour House Pub. Behind Kanga Room systems. Near Buds Po Boys. It’s a bright yellow trailer, but really, you have to find it. It’s like finding the yellow Easter egg in a full parking lot with a bar, a farmers market, and some other crap. I had a vegan taco. There is a breakfast and lunch menu, but the same vegan choice for both, and the lunch one is .75 more. What? I ordered chips and salsa, too, because they had so many salsa choices. Vegan taco. Two bucks(super!). Homemade flour tortilla(fucking delicious). Mini potato cubes(adorable and tasty). Soyrizo(yum). Guacamole and pico de gallo on the side(yes, please). It was good. Maybe not the best vegan taco in the world, but it was simple but«flavory.» The owner guy was smiley and nice and had that«aim to please» way about him. The guacamole and all the salsas were fantastic. Try them all, seriously. I’ll be back for a $ 2 breakfast. It would be awesome if there were some fakey style eggs, like a tofu scramble, thrown into the taco. That would really add a lot to it. So go on a treasure hunt for the yellow trailer. Once you find it, try the Charfen taco. And the guacamole. And all the salsas. And the chips. It’s all good.

I stopped by for the first time yesterday and it was awesome! I had a shrimp and pineapple taco that was quite delicious. I added some guacamole to it and it was gone in no time. I also had the perro caliente with no mayo. A hot dog wrapped in bacon with pico, cilantro, and chipotle ketchup… AMAZING! If you haven’t made a visit just yet you should def do it soon!

Yes please and thank you for a great new taco trailer! First off, great looking trailer, bright yellow so you cant miss it and they have a screened in extention for an outside bbq grill, smart. The owner and chef were very friendly and the tacos i had were great. I kept it simple with the johanna taco which is a potato, egg and cheese. The potato was perfectly cooked and the corn tortillas were good, but I think the star of the show may have been the roasted salsa heavy on the cilantro and the guac. Both were spectacular and all over my beard probably by the time i was done. The menu looks interesting, they keep it simple in spots but have a few dishes that will appeal to the food adventurist. Not to mention i saw… not 1BUT2 vegan(1 was tempeh) taco choices, once again, smart. This place has just recently opened, maybe yesterday… and is in the old farmers market parking lot on burnet ln, in the back area. Enjoy!
