I’m sort of a regular here. Their Miso is the bomb and only $ 1.50. The sushi is way better than Sushi Zushi and way cheaper.

The wait staff was super duper nice and accommodating but the food is terrible. The tempura batter was like fried chicken. Unless you’re into that. I asked for a brown sauce for my tempura and it just tasted like soy sauce. The tempura also came with a mayo sauce but tasted like nothing but straight up mayo. Sushi bought at HEB for half the price would have been better than what I had here. The sushi is cheaply priced. Here, you get what you pay for. It seems like it could be a cool place, I just wish the quality of the food was better.

These folks are running a good business with decent ambiance and food and pretty good service. Just nothing to write home about is all.

Overall, the experience was decent. I’ve had worse and I’ve had better. If I’m gonna be passing through and need a fix, I’d consider this place. Inside — place is small but not crowded; 3 large booths and around 12 seats at the bar. The ladies behind the counter were polite and quick with their service! Had a to go order: Chicken katsu bento box — the chicken katsu itself was perfectly fine but I didn’t agree with the Orange-ish sauce that came with it(like a spicy mayo but super heavy on the mayo); rice was a little too mushy, and no sauce with the broccoli tempura which was a nice try but end product was too oily, and covered by a thick, hard shell of breading; egg roll was tasty; cali pcs were refreshing Fiery shrimp roll — wasn’t memorable. Also, I’m assuming it’s fried bc there was a lot of grease that came from it. They should state that in the description. If it wasn’t fried, then holy moly that’s a lot of oil to come from the tempura shrimp.

Disappointing experience. We sat at the counter and the counter surface was sticky. We ordered the combo F — 12 pieces of sashimi plus miso soup. The sashimi choice was decent, but the slices were very thin, not very generous. The ginger smelled and tasted weird, like it had gone bad. The hot green tea was served in cups with no handles or cozies so we had to wrap paper napkins around the cups to be able to lift the cups. The miso soup didn’t arrive until 5 min after we had finished the sashimi. All the plates and bowls were plastic. Meh. Avoid unless you’re really craving sushi and your car has broken down in front of the restaurant.

The most wonderful people own this buisness, they are so kind and GREAT at what they do. I am always so happy when i leave. ALOTOFLOVEGOESINTHISSUSHI. Angry hour is incredible… sapporo and kirin beers stocked to the fullest. Did i mention they are so kind? Anyways come here for great, inexpensive sushi with a relaxed vibe!

In general, it was… decent. Not exciting at all, but not bad. Bottom line: I won’t be coming back. But a little about what I ordered: Egg Rolls — served three, small egg rolls, but they reminded me more of spring rolls. But their size was nice so I wasn’t unhinging my jaw for a bite. It came with a «spicy» mayo type of sauce that was mild and yummy. But I thought it was at least $ 0.50 too expensive for what you get. Not particularly flavorful. Seaweed Salad — standard seaweed salad. It probs comes in pre-made, but it’s exactly like the salad you get at most any other sushi place. Texas Steak Roll — eh, it was okay. The steak was kinda chewy, and the flavor was good? Just not bad? It was decent enough. White Fish Tempura Roll — not enough crunch honestly. The tempura felt thin like there just wasn’t a lot of fish. I liked it though! But again, not particularly amazing or exciting. If you like wasabi, you’ll have to request additional wasabi. I ordered take-out and was disappointed to find barely a thimble full for two rolls.

Great sushi for a great price. I’ve visited Maki Toki with my wife quite a few times over the past couple years. Their sushi is incredibly tasty, it’s the only thing my wife and I order(besides miso, which is also good). Some of our favorites(we’re not super adventurous with our sushi selections) are the spider roll, shrimp tempura roll, cali roll, 420 roll, and ludlow roll. If you are able to make their angry hour(4:30 — 7:00) Mon — Sat, you’ll definitely be surprised on how small your bill will be even after ordering 4 – 5 rolls. Compared with a lot of the sushi places around, the sushi is just as good if not better while the prices are sometimes as little as half as much as competitors.

I went here tonight for the the happy hour, which they have every day. The happy hour prices are very good and the sushi wasn’t bad. The sushi pieces were cut very thin, thinner than what I’m used to seeing at a sushi joint. Good service.

We came for the angry hour. Yummy sushi for a reasonable price in a quiet environment. The Jade roll was delicious. We’ll come again.

We came during the«Angry Hour». Other than one other couple the restaurant was empty during our entire one and a half hour visit. The Angry Hour prices were fantastic. The server was quick with our drinks, miso soup, and appetizers. There appeared to be only one sushi chef rolling — she did an incredible job. Some of the sushi selections were unique, but definitely delicious. We definitely will be back.

Food is good. Waitress was nice but where are all the customers. I used a coupon for 20% that they got confused with but all was good. Might not go back but not bc of food or service unless I have another coupon!!!

Went there for their Angry Hour and left feeling Angry about how much we spent for crappy food. No one was in there. It was dead. Not sure how this place is still open. The calamari were like fish sticks, Just awful. Rolls were terrible, not much flavor, ponzu has no flavor, was a waste of $ 50. Never coming back.

My husband and I decided to try Maki Toki for the first time tonight. When we arrived, we were excited by the sign advertising«Angry Hour» every day from 4:30−7. Sure enough, the menu listed some delicious-sounding rolls at great prices. That was the last thing we were excited about on our visit. My husband’s menu was covered in some sort of sticky substance. I brushed it off. Menus get dirty, we all know this. When our water glasses came, they too were completely covered in some sort of sticky substance. We went ahead and ordered edamame to start. It arrived piping hot and steam enveloped our table. The edamame was so hot and over cooked that the pods had become mushy. It was edible, but not worth much more than the happy hour price of $ 2.99. I ordered the Dynamite roll(tasty) and the crunchy shrimp roll(less tasty). The crunchy roll was extra crunchy when we discovered the shells hadn’t been removed from all of the shrimp before the roll was fried. My husband had the spicy yellow tail roll(inedible) and fire cracker shrimp roll(delicious). The yellow tail roll was so full of green onions that it overwhelmed the taste of the other ingredients and was inedible. We both drank water and our bill was $ 30, which wouldn’t normally be a bad price for sushi. This sushi, however, was not worth it. We won’t be back. We’ll stick with Sushi Zushi in the Domain.

We recently had dinner here. We’ve been several times before– always delicious/well prepared food. We usually stick with classic options– California roll, edimame, seaweed salad, miso soup, etc… And we usually get the all-you-can-eat option, cause that’s how we roll… My biggest complaint this time was the pace and price… the rolls took FOREVER, though the place was almost empty. Our drinks sat empty for too long, and we had long periods between plates. They decided to increase the all-you-can-eat price nearly 50% to boot! not cool! Overall it’s a good place, but I prefer better costumer service than I received this time.

Stopped in for lunch hoping for a close by sushi place. We ordered 2 Benito boxes, mine was grilled beef, my wife ordered the pork. Bento box, no miso, no salad, very greasy tempura, no tempura sauce, the grilled beef was over cooked and they did serve sushi rice. The roll we ordered was good and the waitress took very good care of us.

Appallingly bad. I came by this place for lunch while running errands and decided to check it out. First disconcerting sign was the absence of other patrons. My optimistic side thought that perhaps this is a hidden gem. Big mistake. They were not carrying several menu items, always fun when that happens. I wound up ordering a $ 9 veggie tempura bento box. Surprisingly this does not come with miso soup or salad. Ordering those brought the bill to over $ 16 before tip. The bento box came with«tempura» that was deep fried in common American batter rather than Japanese style panko. It had roughly the same consistency as onion ring batter. There was a saucer of what can only be described as remoulade sauce on the side. The rice was long grain rice, not sushi rice! Really?! There was a cheap deep fried egg roll and California maki. Tastes ranged from bad to awful. The one positive was the waitress, who was polite and attentive. Never again.

Decent casual sushi joint. The service is good, the sushi is just fine, the location is convenient for the surrounding neighborhoods. It is a very small space, with only a few booths, but plenty of room at the bar. They now serve beer and wine, no longer byob. The Angry Hour specials are great, definitely need to remember this place is so close.
