It was more than I even expected. The food was great. The atmosphere was great. I can’t wait to go back and try something new. The whole experience was well worth it

So I really enjoy a good sandwich and there are several places I could recommend from Austin to San Marcos, Lucy’s is definitely up there with the best of them. I had the chicken schnitzel, this was my fourth from here, and it is consistently phenomenal. The bread, the always fresh lettuce(not iceberg but the good stuff) tomato and the spread all complimented the generous portion of perfectly breaded, and tasty chicken that they were served with. Had this sandwich with a side of Russian salad and could not even finish it. The owner is very generous with portions and is always extremely polite making this trailer a frequent part of my sandwich rotation. Couple that with the low prices she’s charging and it’s even better. At this time they are located on Barton Springs by Austin Energy.

Ohmuhlawrd. This place is amazing. After a day at barton springs my fiancé and I were starving! Stopped here and was blown away. I will definitely be back. Everything about it was perfect. To be honest, I’m a condiment abuser and this needed nothing, it was divine. I’m hoping this place gets some more love and quick. The lady is so so sweet and even gave us free cookies and water for our doggies!

Here you’ll find assorted sandwiches, falafal, and homemade hummus of good quality, at very good prices. I had the falafal myself, it was $ 3.99, and came filled with a good amount of their humas — and it was way better than you’d get at kismet for the same price. I’m always astonished how many terrible, overpriced restaurants thrive near the UT campus — I’m looking at you rasta pasta — but Lucy’s is not one of them. It doesn’t seem terribly busy at times, and this is too bad. UT, if you let them go under, I’ll be really disappointed in you.

My boyfriend keeps kosher, so I was excited to have a new option to add to our lunch rotation. I was suprirsed at how cheap the food was here, usually kosher meats(of which they serve chicken and pastrami) are more expensive, like at the Kosher Deli where sandwhiches range from $ 7 – 9. Here, the chicken wrap was only $ 5. Even though they call it «European Cuisine,» I was drawn in by the Middle Eastern staples. The falafel($ 4) was hot, fresh, and flavorful, although I wish the pita bread it was served in was heated. The fresh hummus and pita chips are also a great draw and a good portion for the price. My boyfriend’s chicken wrap had chicken done in the schnitzel fried style, which was tasty without being greasy. Plus we got free dessert on the house, which was a peach cake that had a coffeecake like texture but less cinnamon. Overall I think this is a quality eatery and has a very cute secluded location that is still close to campus. It’s a nice break from the unhealthy and overpriced foods typically offered near UT and I would go again soon.

Lucy’s is grounds… [fill-in]. I will expound. This will be fun. Get ready for some wild rabbit trails. Lucy’s is grounds… found on Holy Grounds. It is located at the Hillel building. Being set in the courtyard, it has really found a cool location. Plus, could they sell things that WEREN’T kosher? Probably not. Food trucks for those of Jewish decent! Talk about a synergistic integration of Austin and culture and religion. Lucy’s is grounds… offering Coffee Grounds, in ground form, brewed, and then moved onto the liquid form. That was a stretch. Lucy’s is grounds… Grounds for true ethnic grubbage. With a menu boasting homemade hummus(Tom’s and Out To Lunch, though local and awesome, are monopolizing the«housemade» hummus market! – have you viewed this trend?), falafel, and even apple strudel. Alas, what did I think? Quite mediocre. The veggie stew was certainly heavy on the veggies, but it was a touch bland, one-noted, and it honestly was just too oily. I don’t mind heavy soups, but unless it is well homogenized, I find that oily film that collects at the top and creeps on the sides of the container unappealing and distasteful. This one is chock full of peas and green beans. It also possessed an off-putting smell. The apple strudel was soggy – pretty sure these things are supposed to hold the utmost crispness and flaky character. The filling was OK, at best. Would I return? Maybe. Anticlimactic conclusion following such an insightful post? Yes. I worked you up with my awesome rhetoric. Lucy’s Fried Chicken, Lucy’s European Cuisine, Lucy’s Retired Surfer Bar. I get the point; Lucy’s is a fun name to use in this day and age. But… the grub NEVER holds up to the iconic American diner proclamation, this aspect being found in the name Lucy’s.

Lucy’s is a great addition to west campus. The owner re located from the restaurant named Drakula and migrated down south. I loved the comfort food at the old Drakula. Now on to the food! I tried the veggie sandwich with the dessert crêpe. The sandwich was clean tasting and didn’t seem caked with all the non necessities that food often acquires these days. Simple… Clean… Good sandwich. The sandwich included a fried piece of eggplant, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and really great bread. You can get an order of chips or fries on the side. OH! And this sandwich is 4.99! Great prices for all the sandwiches offered. They have pastrami, tuna, chicken schnitzel, stuffed cabbage, salads, and a few dessert options. I love new businesses with foreign touches helping us Americans appreciate different cultures and their food. This place has a Euro, specifically Romanian appeal. They also have kosher items for people who are looking for a place down south that has kosher meals. The owner will also be adding to the menu as it is a new business and it takes time to perfect a menu for the masses. I will for sure be a regular here.
