Overall it was enjoyable the service was quite good. We had three different people helping us at our table is only one of them was a bit sour and her attitude. The other two were stellar! The DJ’s music selection was very good and fun, however, I wish he would play at least half a song instead of 20 seconds of a song especially when the crowd reacts favorably. People watching was the best and we met a few really sweet people. We did have to keep the occasional groping married men at bay however but that was easily accomplished. Wish the dance floor was bigger and the songs were longer they would attract more and better dancers if that was the case.

Upscale spot that plays hip hop music. Also has a mixture of races and ages. Everyone should feel welcomed.

Great spot to go on Thursday night! Upscale type of lounge. The crowd is 25−40ish! Great place to mingle especially if your new to the area. Drinks were reasonable.!but I am use to W hotel lounges and the prices do not vary much. There are few different rooms you can sit and talk, sit and people watch, vibe to the music or you can go closer to the bar area and be in the mix of things. I enjoyed myself here and will be back!

Typical W bar… cool ambiance with way more dudes than girls. Cool and comfy place to hang out if you’re with a group of friends not looking to meet the opposite sex though. Drink prices are on the higher side but not unreasonable for a hotel bar.

I came here in pursuit of a reverse HH with a friend, and the W delivered. 7−10PM, heyyy! — Half price drinks and noms, I was into it. The cocktails range from $ 6-$ 9 and the ‘nibbles’ as they like to call them, range from $ 5-$ 9. My friend and I tried the black truffle popcorn and loaded fries and it was good, not great — but good. Plus. I was sitting in a fancy, massive velvet wingback chair eating loaded fries in a library esque nook. To drink I had the skinny dip(deep eddy lemon vodka, cucumber, mint, soda, ginger beer) and a refresca(stellina di note pinot grigio, solerno blood orange liquor, lemon, san pellegrino) and it was all way tasty. — Service is fantastic. Even though we were just hanging out in the lounge, the waitress kept coming back asking if we wanted more drinks and even copped us an app when the kitchen took a while. — Did I mention the massive velvet wingback chair earlier? Seating is really comfy. My friend and I ended up camping out for at least two hours, I could easily see this being a date night situation or girls night, like mine was. So come and get your reverse HH on, dress up a little, embrace the swank.

Really nice crowd, the DJ was good and the waitresses were very attentive. However, the drinks were weak and this is, literally, a lounge; no dance floor to speak of.

Always a good time. It’s an oasis for young, professional locals who want to escape the collegey feel of most Austin venues. The late happy hour is perfect for those who can’t sneak away from work by 5.

We really enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere and cool vibe of this lounge. The DJ mixes were great and just loud enough that you could have a conversation. The service was good until it got a little busy then our server disappeared into the darkness. Drink specials were in effect until 10 but they only included limited menu items and they were still a bit pricey.

I appreciate that the W is becoming more and more a part of the community instead of a towering behemoth in the Warehouse District. Over the past few months I have gone salsa dancing there, held several business meetings, attended an art show for a local artist and had a great massage at the spa. If you’re accustomed to Paris bars and coffee shops you will appreciate the clean coziness minus the history. My favorite appetizer is the olive almond plate — yum! I tend to not buy the alcohol here though as I have not seen anything of interest for the price. It is a beautiful place with Venetian plaster on select walls but as any place it’s the people that make it. There are some evenings when I just walk right on by if the crowd looks like it isn’t really appreciating where they are.

Live review! Wooooo! Hella poppin’ on a Saturday night, yo! We were gifted two drink vouchers as hotel guests and are twerking to the awesome music during the storm. Looks like half of Austin is here as well. Loves it!!!

We stopped in the W living room bar because we are staying at the hotel and were intrigued by their happy hour — starts at 7 pm and ends at 10 pm. This is a cool bar. Three separate areas: the living room which has fireplaces and nice comfy couches, the vinyl room with floor to ceiling records and a great DJ mixing, and the red velvet room which is dark, red and chic. I love the décor and ambiance! For 7 pm on a Thursday, there was a good crowd, by 10 pm the place was pretty packed. I would say it was a mixed crowd, but certainly more our style than hanging on dirty 6th with all the college kids. The happy hour menu and prices were great! I had the margarita to start, which was well, a typical margarita. Nothing to write home about. I also tried the Red River, which was great! My husband had the Phoenix Rising, a great mixed drink with absinthe. He also tried the McGroni, a variation of the Negroni. While that was not on the HH menu, out waitress discounted the drink by 50%. Very nice! We ordered the loaded fries which had brisket, fresco queso and green onions. These were so great! If you are looking for a great HH to start your evening, the W Living Room is a good choice. It’s a classier option than heading to 6th street!

This bar is antithetical to the«Austin vibe» if you care about that. The themed-rooms bar concept was well executed and the libations well concocted(obviously expensive). Too bad the poor service and much too loud music ruins the rest of the experience. It’s certainly a great place to people watch because there are some characters in here.

Been here a couple of times and this bar has a class, laid back vibe that makes it easy to stay for«just one more drink«. ;) The seating is cozy, beautiful fireplace, and great atmosphere. I can’t comment on their mixed drinks since I didn’t have any, but their wine and hard liquors are good. Also they have a wall full of vinyls that I thought were for decoration but you can actually play them. Lol.

I am afraid to report that my Old Fashioned from here was likely the worst drink I have had in the past year. The bar is cut into pockets, which could be nice for breaking out groups. Sadly, it made it more like a house of horrors, with the vibe of each room only getting stranger the deeper you went. It was sad to be staying at such a well done hotel, only to have the bar be such a disappointment.

Atmosphere is great. Décor is comfy. However, the room was hot. It really needed better air circulation and I was honestly surprised by the server. We were there for an event. She brought out food and when asked what the item was, looked like hush puppies, she had no idea. The server guessed it was cheese and meat stuffed in a batter and fried. When asked what kind of meat, again no idea. Two vegetarians in group. When she finally came back we were told the appetizers were actually deep fried rice balls. For the W, I would expect better training of staff.

Not my favorite place; good food and drinks. Otherwise crowded and a strange vibe.

The Happy Hour at the Living Room Lounge runs till 10PMEVERYNIGHT! The drinks are delicious and the deals even include food. The vibe in the lounge is great and my suggestion is to head to the Happy Hour around 9PM and enjoy the discounts and enjoy the lounge without it being too crowded. By the time 10PM rolls around the crowd has filled in and the experience is much different. Overall the space is great, the drinks are delicious, and if you get there before it gets packed you can enjoy the space with your friends at a discount.

Finally went to“The W” lounge. My besti said I had to check this place out. Being a Tuesday night it wasn’t busy of course, which was nice because you could just walk around and chill. Great atmosphere and I could only imagine this place on the weekend.

First of all, it’s the W. We are already set up for success. Enter the Living Room Lounge. In true Austin fashion, they came up with a concept that is both cozy and hip. Designed like a cool living room with a large fireplace on the wall, it just screams at you to come in and relax. There is an entire wall of floor to ceiling vinyl and as it gets later, a DJ starts spinning in the corner. Two words — Truffled Popcorn. In my dreams, there would be a never ending supply of the stuff(and it would also contain zero calories). But this is worth the calories. I refuse to think about how much of it I ate, but I started threatening anyone I saw eying my popcorn. They could get their own. Next to the Living Room is the Secret Bar. It’s dark, red, and full of bartenders waiting to making you some really, really good cocktails. I had a Rio something or other with Deep Eddy Ruby and fresh grapefruit juice. It was dangerously good. I also got a classic dirty martini, which was also very tasty. My bartender Dustin most certainly knew what he was doing. The servers were also very friendly and attentive, even in the midst of a very busy party. Oh and there’s this little thing called Primetime Happy Hour. Half-price bar nibbles and crafted libations every single night from 7:00 — 10:00pm. It’s also conveniently located to Trace, also at the W, with a great Happy Hour from from 5:00 — 7:00pm. So one could easily enjoy 5 hours of Happy Hour specials at the W. And you are conveniently located in a hotel where you snag a room to sleep it off(or have the charming valet boys call you a cab).

This review is about the«Secret Bar» here… just so you know! You gotta love this swanky, retro, mysterious lounge nestled into the bottom floor of the W Hotel. I can’t believe there were so many empty seats in here during Willie Nelson’s concert(he was playing upstairs) at SXSW. You’d think it’d be packed, but it was actually pretty quiet and relaxing, which was a nice break from all the chaos this crazy festival brings to Austin. This is a seriously cozy and truly living room-esque space, complete with comfy couches, fat lounge-y chairs, and a ton of pillows. It’s super dark inside… I actually almost fell asleep. But when I saw truffle popcorn on the appetizer menu, I perked up. Nothing’s better than a good truffle popcorn and a cold, bubbly glass of prosecco, so this place has my respect and guaranteed return. The service was a bit slow considering there weren’t too many patrons hanging out, but the whole atmosphere in general could be described as slow and leisurely, so it wasn’t unexpected. Our waitress was friendly and answered all of my questions, and when they were out of the beer someone wanted, she was quick to suggest some other crafty options from the menu. The truffle popcorn came out hot, buttery, and delicious, and a friend’s chocolatey dessert looked equally appetizing. The best part of our experience here was that they projected Willie Nelson’s concert, live, on the wall. So we basically had front row seats in front of a huge screen with great sound and easy access to drinks, appetizers, and clean bathrooms! I’m not sure if they project movies or concerts nightly, but they should. It’s the perfect space to do so!
