Eh. Small breakfast buffet. The waiter was nice and friendly. We were the only customers at 9 am on a Monday. Food was alright. :).

Went there for the breakfast buffet. I think I paid $ 7, excluding a drink. The spread of food was small, but tasted ok.

The first time i went here I was very drunk. The place didn’t open on time but a crew of workers seemed to wake up and make me a buffet instantly. I had a pleasant experience that time but the food was mediocre at best. So I decided to go back… biggest mistake of my life this time they opened a whole hour later and I was sober and it was just about the most disgusting food I’ve ever had. Someone should burn this place down and the owners should give my money back.

I really really wish I had looked on Unilocal before I came here. The other 2 reviewers get the reviews just right. One star. I had actually been looking forward to checking out this place. A $ 4.99 breakfast buffet close to my house? Sign me up! And I often love these weird old places. Not this one. My old retired neighbor really likes this place, and he picked me up one morning when I had to drop my car off to get it fixed. To thank him, I said I’d buy him breakfast, so he picked Kettle. I was excited because I’d been wanting to eat here. First negative point: althought the giant sign says«Breakfast Buffet $ 4.99» if you go on the weekend it’s actually $ 5.99. They warn you of this when you order(and on leaving, noticed a MUCH smaller sign that said the price on weekends). I should have just left then and gone up the street to Lubys for their actual $ 4.99 buffet. But I didn’t. And I wish I had. I didn’t mind that the inside was sort of funky and bizarro. I don’t mind dives if the food is good. The food is not good. At all. There wasn’t a whole lot to pick from: bacon, eggs, 2 kinds of potatoes, some steak finger things, refried beans, tortillas, french toast, maybe something else. The bacon was the worst bacon I have ever had. I usually get my money’s worth at any breakfast buffet just on bacon alone. Not here. There was not a piece of crispy bacon in sight. This ‘bacon’ was 70% fat, and the parts that weren’t fat were chewy and tough and disgusting. The eggs were decent. The french toast was so tough that I couldn’t get it using just my fork. I had to use a knife. The tortilla was hard. The beans were disgusting. The 2 kinds of potatoes were pretty lackluster. (And the ketchup on the table to use on them was«Hill Country Fare brand»…ha! No expenses spared here!) The only thing I really liked was the steak type fingers. I’m not sure exactly what they were, but that’s probaly a good thing. I felt dirty and disgusting when I left. I had to wait to pay because the girl at the cash register was eating when I brought my bill up. Her mouth was full, so I had to wait for her to swallow. The waitstaff was friendly enough though. I won’t fault them any in that area. But the place is just mediocre(at least for breakfast). I would bet that the majority of their business comes from the Motel 6 next door. I saw at least 4 parties of people come from the Motel 6 into the Kettle. It’s convenient for them. Everyone else should probably go elsewhere. Except my neighbor, who does really like it. He also like Furrs though. And thinks Green Mesquite is good BBQ. So take it for what’s worth.
