I’ve been dealing with unwanted facial hair since puberty. For years I plucked, tweezed, shaved, bleached, waxed, threaded and depleted my face only to cause scaring and still have the hair regrow within days. I’ve also spent far more money and time than I care to admit on laser hair removal which did not work AT ALL for me.
Finding IBC and Chris has changed my life. For the first time in almost a decade I have allowed my husband to touch parts of my face without fear he might feel/​see stubble. I finally feel confident enough to walk out of my home without running for a mirror and tweezers first.
Chris is very gentle and makes sure the office is clean and quiet. From the moment I walk into the neatly decorated waiting room to the end of my treatment time I always feel welcome and cared for.

Seriously, I don’t know where I’d be now without Unilocal.
After having the worst experience from laser hair removal on my face, which by the way causes any naturally fine hair on your face or body to grow at super fast speeds, I thought I was out of options. Before laser, I didn’t have any issues with facial hair; after laser, I could actually see very fine hairs growing abnormally long.
Even though I’ve heard of electrolysis years ago, I assumed it would be expensive and required too much time for each hair. Well, that may be the case with some electrologists, but fortunately I found a very qualified electrologist whom has genuinely helped me rid of unwanted hair on my face and body.
Initially I was planning on doing just my face, but after seeing how quick and effective and PAINLESS it is, I decided to do my bikini area too. It’s also far more cost-​effective when compared to laser, as laser requires at least 5 sessions to see hair-​reduction (not permanent) in the areas where the hair is coarse; but it won’t work that well for areas with finer hair, or light-​colored hair. But electrolysis works just the same on all hair types and colors, as well as all skin types and colors. I’ve done multiple laser sessions on my body as well, so I’m very familiar with all of it.
Just like cars, not all laser machines are created equal. And just like drivers, not all technicians have the knowledge/​experience to give you the best results, no matter how great the machine is. I’ve done laser using the very same machine, but with two different technicians at separate locations. One technician gave me noticeable results, while the other did absolutely nothing; they were more expensive too :(
I’m very happy I learned about Cristina at IBC, and I’m thankful for the previous Unilocalers that took time to post these reviews. If you want it done right, with minimal to no pain, using the best equipment, and a genuine smile – Go see Cristina!!!

I am so very pleased with the results I’ve gotten from Cristina. The areas treated are face, sideburns, and neckline. Cristina is professional, courteous, and detail oriented. Her office is comfortable and well appointed. I can’t say enough good things about her! I have been to one other electrologist in Austin and was terribly disappointed on all levels. I found Cristina through Unilocal when I was looking for an electrologist in Austin. I was looking to do a full brazilian and legs. No small feat, as y’all can tell.
I am so glad I made a decision to go with IBC. It could be one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life — that’s how great Cristina is. Not only is she the absolutely best electrologist you will ever find anywhere, she is also an amazing person with a big heart. She is great at what she does — not only does she do the job exceptionally well, she also stays on top of all the latest techniques and research, speaks at conferences and trains other people, including those who are already professional electrologists. She has numerous credentials, including a Master’s degree in electrology, and can give you scientific answers to any of the hair-​growth related questions you may have.
The progress with my brazilian has been amazing. It does take time to go through it, as the area is large, but it is 100% worth it, if you are willing and able to invest time and money. I saw the results right away, and I have had minimal regrowth in the treated areas. Cristina might be one of the very few electrologists in the country who uses local anesthesia for the most sensitive areas. Actually, if it wasn’t the case, I don’t know if I would be able to go through the treatment. She is great at making the whole process virtually painless and she really cares about how you feel and if you are comfortable. Also, her student Lily is absolutely great — I have been going to her for the electrolysis on my legs, and she has done some long marathon sessions with me and cleared both my legs in three days, which was fantastic. I still have to go in every three weeks or so to zap the persistent leg hairs that keep growing, but it takes maybe 3 – 4 hours per session, and it’s less and less hair every time.
I really really recommend IBC for all your electrolysis needs. A lot of people come here after they’ve tried other places and had bad experiences, or after laser that didn’t work. If you want to get rid of body or facial hair, that’s your one stop shop. Look no further. Oh, and both Cristina and Lily are absolutely wonderful people that make you feel at ease and are an absolute joy to have a conversation with. If you don’t love them right away, there’s gotta be something wrong with you ;-)

Cristina is truly exceptional when it comes to electrolysis. I had been seeing Cristina in Houston but am willing to drive to Austin to get treated by her! (That’s how much I will vouch for her). I recommend her work without reservation. As if that wasn’t enough, Cristina is truly personable and a superb provider of customer service.
Also, Cristina is licensed to do what she does. There are many people who claim to know electrolysis that are not only not knowledgeable but haven’t had the appropriate training to be licensed and be able to do this work and do it right. Cristina is not only licensed but is also called on t educate newcomers onto the field.

I’m currently going to Cris for electrolysis on my legs, and I can say without a doubt that she’s the best decision I’ve ever made in terms of hair removal. There are three reasons in particular that I highly recommend Cris for anyone considering electrolysis:
1) Education and Experience
Cris is not only incredibly well-​educated in all things electrolysis, but is also constantly challenging herself to learn more. Her office walls are literally covered in all her certifications and licenses, and I’m not even sure she has them all up yet. The thing about Cris is that she is so dedicated to her business and to her customers, that she regularly attends international conferences on electrolysis on her own dime. She even wrote an electrolysis training book! That’s how much of an expert this woman is.
2) Technology
The machine that Cris uses the best of the best, and I can say that because I went to another place in Austin before her, and there, I couldn’t imagine myself getting a treatment any longer than 20 minutes. With Cris, I regularly do 2-​hour treatments, and there have been times where I’ve almost fallen asleep.
3) Going above and beyond
Cris is so kind and understanding, that I couldn’t imagine going to anyone else. She’s incredibly honest, so easy to talk to, always asks me if I’m doing okay and has no problem taking a small break if I ask for one. Not only is she a great listener, but she really cares about how her patients are doing both physically and emotionally. She noticed I had a big pimple on my chin right before my long-​distance boyfriend was coming to visit me, and she gave me a tiny bit of cream for it! And I didn’t even ask! She just noticed and was like, «Oh, let me get you something for that.»
That’s why Cris is my go-​to gal. She is without a doubt both the best in her profession and a genuinely nice person. I’m so incredibly happy I found her, and cannot recommend her highly enough.

I have been getting electrolysis/​lasering for many years now. There are certain people in the Austin area who are simply not as clean, professional, fast, and efficient as International Beauty Center.
Cristina a very capable electrologist, and so is her associate Mary Ann.
They are both on time with their appointments, professional, very clean, and know what they are doing. If you are considering electrolysis, I would highly recommend them for electrolysis in Austin.

Cristina has been so great! Within one year I have seen tremendous decrease in hair growth. I have been so happy with my results that I have started having her work on other areas that I never thought I could have done before because I was spending so much time on only a couple of areas. Additionally, she is gentle and the machine is much less painful than any other electrolysis I have ever been to. She is so patient and willing to work with you and your schedule. She has flexible hours so she can fit your schedule!
Another plus to IBC is that Cristina stays current on trainings. Her office is always very clean and sterile so you feel very comfortable about the products she is using.

I suffer from something called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome or known mostly as PCOS. I was diagnosed when I was in the 7^th grade. For the people who don’t know what this is, I will tell you just one of my symptoms… HAIR GROWTH! I had very, very bad hair growth on my face, I pretty much had a beard. I tried lasers (it got worse), I tried waxing but it didn’t work and I broke out in an allergic reaction, so I resorted to shaving everyday. I hated it and it was irritating to me and my skin. I went to International Beauty Center during the summer of 2008 in Houston while I was staying back home in Galveston. I was sooooooooo happy with my treatments and was religious about going to them. I could tell a BIG difference quickly.
Cristina was nice, professional, and always ready for my when I got there, even though I was usually there early. Her machine is a great about limiting pain and she always ask if you are ok. She makes time for me, she’ll come in early if I can not do anything but an early morning appointment.
When I came back to Austin for school I kept seeing her at this Austin location and I’m still so happy with it. I never have to worry about having hair growth and people seeing it. My self confidence has jumped dramatically and I feel better about going out and being in the eyes of the public. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get rid of some hair, no matter how much hair it is.
Cristina is understanding about busy schedules and hectic lives. She understands when you have to miss a week because you just can’t fit it into your schedule, although you shouldn’t miss an appointment.

Cristina is the best electrologist you’ll ever meet. She is always very concerned about making sure you’re comfortable. Cristina’s love for her job and each of her clients’ well-​being, makes her a unique electrologist because she is not only empathetic and kind, but she is talented and incredibly well educated. Cristina attends workshops and trainings regularly to make sure she’s always up-​to-​date on the latest technologies. She is also an educator and conference presenter.
I wouldn’t trust my face with anyone other than Cristina. I have very hard hair to treat. It’s blond and fine, the type a lot of other electrologists wouldn’t even treat. I also have very sensitive skin, so she has to be very precise and accurate with every hair she removes. I am so grateful I have found someone as talented and gifted as Cristina, she is the type of professional you can only hope to meet!
