I drove by this place a few times and thought it was closed. It was apparently open and I tried it. The food is modestly interesting but very over priced. A Lebanese version of a «happy meal» was twelve dollars. Nothing really special a styrofoam dish with not much food. I was the only one there and ordered a take out meal and was asked how much tip I wanted to leave. Is this a joke? Tips are to compensate service staff not for the guy putting a few morsels in the styrofoam compartments The place does have something a little different but too expensive and modest portions do not make for a return visit.

It is my first time here they are very friendly here and it was my first time having a falafel sandwich and it was delicious. I recommend people to come and try it.

Friendly, attentive service. Nice outdoor space with several picnic table and a stage for music. I love that it is family run. My husband had the falafel sandwich which he said was light and crispy. I had the shawarma plate with hummus and tabbouleh. Very yummy. On the way out, the owner offered us each a mint leaf — so appreciated. We’ll eat here again.

Best Mediterranean in south austin! We had the kibbeh sandwich, falafel plate, and gyro plate. Great tabouli, tzatziki, falafel, and kibbeh. Everything else was good too. The date-filled dessert was pretty good: crumbly and not too sweet. The owners are super nice and give great service with a smile. We enjoyed our feast on the picnic tables adjacent. We’ll be back!

Super fresh and just excellent — this is a Lebanese oasis of food in South Austin. Family run — these are real folk and it shows in the home style food. I can honestly say that the falafel was different than any other I’ve had — so light and crispy. You can tell the menu is full of little surprises like that. I’ll be back, I’ll find those treasures.

Every place I wanted to eat on my way home from New Braunfels on a Sunday afternoon was either closed or gone(the whole building!). I ended up at Hummus Cuisine. I don’t know much of anything about this type of food, but it was delicious. I give it 4 stars. For 5 stars, i need to eat at a place several times, unless it completely blows me away. I ordered a Schwrama Gyro(Lamb). You are given all the contents and you build it yourself. It comes with a bunch of stuff; i don’t know what they are, but i tried them all separately, at first, and they were all yummy. All the veggie-stuff was fresh tasting and colorful(not pale). Hummus was tasty, could go with anything. One negative review said the food was inauthentic, «The ‘pitas’ were actually tortillas.» Well, I can’t make claims regarding authenticity, but, like all of you, I eat tortillas all the time; these were not tortillas. So, I’m am not sure this guy/gal is a good source. Family owned business. Most food trucks like this, you get your food and are left alone. But, they came by and asked how my meal was, and they brought me more bread. Extremely friendly and hospitable couple. Location is a nice spot to chill on a pleasant Sunday afternoon. I’ll be back 8)

High hopes for a lovely setting but sadly disappointing. All food tasted inauthentic and/or processed. «Pita» was actually tortilla. Also way overpriced. If you want some decent Greek nearby head to Tinos instead.

Disappointing. It was expensive and the bread was more tortilla than pita. Nice person but the food was just average.

Wow what an adventure this turned out to be. While trying to find a Greek/Lebanese restaurant that sold hummus and gyros and delivered in south Austin I found this gem. I called them and asked about delivery and they informed me they only deliver within a very small radius but would have an order ready for pick up. I told them I would come in and check it out because me and my wife hadn’t really reviewed their menu yet. We looked over there menu which is small but adequate(also this is a food truck so they have what is needed) and we decided on the gyro plate that came with salad and hummus. We headed up there and were greeted by the nicest people who walked us through there menu and than we told them what we wanted. While we were waiting some other family members of the owners where enjoying a fresh batch of Turkish coffee. Amine was the husbands name and he offered my wife and myself a glass while we wait. We talked work and life for a few minutes while our food was finished and we took off, very pleased by the great hospitality. Once we got home and tried the food we were VERYIMPRESSED! Every bit of it was amazing by itself and also complemented each other perfectly no matter how you paired it. I will hands down not go to another Gyro establishment in south Austin because there is no need to keep searching, they are definitely the best!!!

Moved to South Austin back in October with my fiancé and I already wish we had discovered this place earlier. Tony and Charlotte are some of the most friendly and accomodating owners of a restaurant I’ve met. We’ve been to Moon Tower before, which is immediately adjacent to Hummus Cuisine. Megan was having a bad day already before we got there, due to injury, and upon our arrival Charlotte presented her with a bottle of water. Immediately I knew this place cared about customer service. Megan had the kebab plate and I enjoyed the falafel sandwich. Both dishes absolutely turned around our days for the best. Good price point for what you get. Solid atmosphere to enjoy your meal at with the vegetation and grounds. And lastly an awesome meal that hits the spot where it’s just enough food that won’t make you regret the rest of your day. Can’t wait to go back!

I returned again and sat for quite a spell enjoying the calm and quiet on a beautiful day. The owner, one of the kindest people I have met, was just opening up the business for the day. I ordered some kebab and he suggested preparing it slightly different than I originally planned. This is where it gets interesting. In Lebanon and throughout the Mid-East, balance is everything with food. The method the meat is cooked can have a direct impact on the amount of meat that is used, as well as condiments as I learned from grandmothers and workers in those areas. Any type of bread adds a dimension as does anything else. This, in my humble opinion, is why often people are sometimes put off by Lebanese or Middle-Eastern food, as piles upon piles, to have a large looking quantity, rather than focusing upon the individual bite, is more of an Americanized style. You will notice this when you eat and eat and eat and still are not satisfied. A smaller, more balanced serving of this style of food is essential to really just stop, and chew each bite many more times to enjoy the flavor. I am quite keen on this little place. My suggestion is to not decide what you want, until you go up to the window and chat with the owner about flavors that interest you in food and let him build from there. There is a lot more pickling in the Lebanese style, just as an example. I also got the opportunity to meet the owner’s charming wife, who was bringing in some items made ATHOME rather than from a food distributor corporation’s 18 wheeler. A Lebanese meal can last all day, and on special occasions for all weekend, so slow enjoyment is the key. Don’t rush and don’t wolf down your food. You will not be sorry.

I stopped by for lunch, and grabbed a Shawarma(Gyro) plate. It had Gyro meat, hummus, tabouli, tahini sauce & pita bread. First time trying Tabouli, and it was delicious! Heading back next week to try the Falafel! The owner was extremely welcoming and friendly. Great chatting with you! Very happy I found a great mediterranean stop nearby!

More like a Greek panini than a gyros. The service was friendly but I wish there were more meat on the sandwich. I travel to the northeast a lot so I am use to the gyros sandwiches with meat spilling over the top. Meat quality was overall mediocre. Service was great. Very friendly. Still in search of a good gyro in Austin.

Fresh tabouli and amazing hummus. Owners were very friendly and had our order out fast. Gyro wasn’t too greasy and tastes homemade.

Awesome gyro platter with the freshest tabouli! The family was so sweet, too. This place was much better than Tino’s Greek Café!

What an awesome south Austin gem. Hummus Cuisine is set up in one of the cutest Austin trailer food parks complete with games, nice scenery, and plenty of shade for everyone to enjoy a hot, summer Texas day. We were greeted by Tony & Charlotte, owners of the truck, and they were the most precious and gracious hosts. I love Mediterranean food, so I decided to try their lamb and beef gyro, while the bf got the lamb and beef plate. As we were sitting on the bench, I couldn’t help but appreciate the plants and shrubbery near the truck, and when I glanced over, I realized this was literally a rock’s throw from Moontower Saloon, which I’m sure gives them plenty of business :) Lamb/Beef Gyro 5⁄5: I loved how fresh everything tasted. The bread was so flavorful, and the beef and lamb were flavored perfectly. It wasn’t spicy, but that was okay because the tahini sauce and the other spices inside the gyro itself was very tasty. It was also a good portion size for me– I was a happy camper. Lamb/Beef Plate 5⁄5: It was presented very nicely, everything cut accordingly, just freshly washed and placed into the container. The Meat was still hot, and their homemade tabouli salad was so good with a zesty kick at the end. More than anything else, my culinary experiences boil down to ambiance, and whether or not heart was behind the food that was put out. These awesome, friendly, and very talented chefs hit it out of the park. Not only did we have a great meal, but Mr. Massad came out of the truck with freshly made falafels for us to try out, which were also amazing :) You could tell they wanted to be there, and it was reflected in their food. Try it, and say Odessa & Mike sent you. They’ll take care of you :)
