There are a few pains greater than that interminable wait at the bar, lines 5 deep, trying to make eye contact with the bartender, and to arrive at the front of the queue – gleeful and optimistic – and then the bartender summons a few of his buddies from the back row to cut in line in front of you, makes complicated drinks, and have 10 minutes in chitchat. On December 29th, 2015, I reach the front of the queue, and the bartender – long hair, scruffy beard, white male early 30s – summoned his buddies to the front. I’m sorry. That’s not how a meritocracy works. That’s not even how lines fuckin work. Go back to bartending in your friend’s basement. I’m sure you’re capable of scratching someone’s name on a Solo cup with a Sharpie. But you’re not a professional and you do not comport yourself as a professional. Way to be handsome though. You’ll probably keep a job. But you don’t deserve this one. PS: Hotel Vegas is actually a fun night spot. I’m going up the star rating from the one star I gave them when I was irritated. But good God, the bartender was awful.

I don’t know how, after living here for over two years and constantly visiting east Austin and LIVING on East 6th, I just visited this place for the first time a few weeks ago. And that was only because a friend convinced me to go out. You guys — I’m old. I found having to scream to speak to my friends or order a drink to be very frustrating, but I realize it’s because I’m a crabby old person now. I’m ok with this. That being said, I had blast that night. Can’t remember who the bands performing were, but both were really great. For the crowd there that night, the bartenders were on top of their game and we never had to wait very long for drinks. This place is fairly small on the inside, but the upside is you can see everything on the stage! I’m a much bigger fan of small venues than large concert halls or stadiums so if that is also your preference, Hotel V will probably suit you perfectly. One thing: there is a photo booth and I have never used one and apparently after you take the photos and they print out, you stick them on the wall surrounding the booth. This confounds me. I felt bad for all the lonely pictures of beautiful hipster beards and colorful«fun» hairstyles that drunk Quay almost took some of y’alls photos home and stuck them on my own fridge instead(WHERETHEYBELONG). Thankfully my friends were there and made me realize how ridiculous that sounds. I just don’t get photo booths = re: I’m old. Now that I’ve gone off on a tangent let me close with: pick a random show, dine your finest divey duds, and just come on over. I think you’ll enjoy yourself.

Saw Thee Oh Sees here on the outdoor stage. I love the outdoor set-up, with big trees and lighting. Multiple bars, open layout, food truck inside. It was all rock n roll. Would come back anytime. Seems like there’s some serious talent behind the bookings

Love hotel Vegas! Great scene, cheap drinks and everything you want in a music venue. Pool tables are working, spacious backyard and yummy late– night food by Crazy Ricky’s! If you don’t like loud music this isn’t the place for you so you might want to move out of Austin. However, if you’re looking for a new favorite band then you’ve come to the right place. Long live Hotel Vegas!

Music was cool. DJ was really good! 3 external and internal environments but outside just chemical bathroom and inside, where we do not pay couvert, just one restroom for ladies(so prepare yourself for a line). Inside just one AC outlet… for Austin summer it is complicated! It doesn’t mean we will not be back. Music there worth it so we enjoyed it.

Hotel Vegas is a good dive spot, and they’re awesome for the bands they put on. The huge patio in the back is definitely a plus, and the food truck in back is pretty bomb and cheap. The downside is the fact that it can get super crowded in the back patio on a weekend night, doesn’t seem like there’s a capacity limit. 2 fights broke out last time I was there and there wasn’t much staff or security to control it. Overall, great for seeing small bands play for a cheap cover, decent priced drinks that won’t break the bank. 3.5 stars overall.

Hotel Vegas used to be my favorite spot in town. The first time I came here I saw Christian Bland play an acoustic set of Syd Barrett covers and the place was almost empty, back when they still had tables inside. It was amazing. Recently, I’ve been more disappointed every time I come out. They always book the best live music acts, that’s undeniable, but the staff has become pretty hard to deal with. They are rude and clickish, the covers are outrageous for a local venue($ 10-$ 20/person) and the sound seems to get worse every time. Hotel Vegas has become a haven for the hipster elite of Austin, and I miss the good ol days.

I love this place! It has a great combination of a large outdoor patio, indoor dancing and its connected to Volstead which provides another option if Hotel Vegas isn’t your scene. Overall, I highly recommend coming here if you’re on the east side or if you want to hang out at the outside patio and drink a beer while having a good conversation.

If you are looking for a good punk rock show then this is the place! Everything here will fit that image too. I will be honest the inside is always hot and a little smelly, but everyone is always having a blast here too. I would recommend getting a beer not a mixed drink. I feel like that is just what you are supposed to do at a place like this. My favorite thing about Hotel Vegas is the back patio area. I love how it connects to the Volstead. If you go on a Friday or Saturday night the patio will be packed full of all kinds of punk rockers, hipster kids and local Austinites. If this is your thing then yeah I would absolutely recommend it!

Hotel Vegas is great! I never seem to go out with the intention of going to Hotel Vegas but when I do stop in I have a great time! Most of the times I’ve wondered in its because I am walking by and hear a band that interests me. I don’t know the names of any bands I’ve ever seen here and I’ve never seen any bands that I saw here a second time. I think that is probably part of the overall appeal here. I know it gets busy sometimes but I’ve never had too much trouble getting a drink, I cant tell you how many bars have issues serving drinks fast enough. I would say waiting in line forever to buy a drink is my number 1 pet peeve. fortunately that’s never been a problem at Hotel Vegas If I had one complaint its that I feel like the drink selection is a bit sparse. They could do for some nice local beer on tap and a much larger selection. I also find that it sometimes get a bit hot in the bar. I can deal with that but I cant help but sometimes wish they would crank up the AC. If you are walking by and hear something you might like don’t hesitate to go in search of it at Hotel Vegas … it seems to me it works out most of the time.

Popped in here late night on a Sunday when everything else was dead, and this place was jamming. Really solid band(I’m sure this place would get a worse review if the music weren’t so good). People were really nice too.

There are some really great things happening at Hotel Vegas: a spacious patio, reasonably priced drinks, and a decently friendly staff. What holds it back for me is the overly cramped inside and the lack of an experience that beats other places on E. 6th. I think what makes this place a solid go to for me is the fact that you can catch some pretty good shows here.

Cheap drinks and quality live entertainment! $ 3.00 cover charge gets you into a small room with lots of love. I was greeted by a talented lineup of Soul/R&B music. The ambience was very hip and filled with characters from all walks of life. Come for simple, quality beverages and stay for the plethora of personalities to delve into conversation with.

Great little venue, easy in and out, good little PA and set up. Bar staff and Managment were excellent and friendly. Nicely priced beers and decent shots, a little smaller poured than I’m used to but hey.

I’ve visited Hotel Vegas each of the last two times I was in Austin. Good music, lots of energy and a kick ass patio /backyard. Five-star service? No. It’s a dumpy divey place with cheap(free) live music, and I would say the service is in line with what one SHOULD expect at a place like Hotel Vegas.

Had a great DJ mixing old school hip-hop, rap and house fusion. It was packed and easily 100 degrees at one point. The party carried out onto the street as people sang, stomped and clapped for an extra 30 minutes. Yes the entire club was dancing in the streets. I came back on a slow day and they gave away free drinks to get people to socialize and get on the dance floor, definitely a well run place.

I feel like Hotel Vegas took over from Emo’s in the small venue/punk show department. I really like this bar. No frills, small stages, and they host great bands. I came here for the Burger Records/Hardly Art show and a few others and it’s always been a good time. Cheap drinks, fun crowd. It does get packed, though.
