If you would like to go to a bar that has a great jukebox and great staff this is your place. We were welcomed with open arms. They run a great business with friendly patrons.

Just moved into their neighborhood! Read the reviews and decided to check ‘em out. Lemon pepper wings actually tasted like both lemon and pepper, and were nicely seasoned. Bleu cheese was super tasty. The celery that came on the side was the coldest, crispiest, least stringy, most flavorful celery I’ve ever had. Magic was in the celery. Mozzarella sticks had the perfect amount of coating and the cheese was the best level of stringy but not too stringy. The Pearlsnap they had on tap was also the chilliest I’ve had. We’ll be back!

Love this place! It is a little piece of the«Austinite» feel but is located up north! They have great draft prices and their patio is adorable with café lighting draping the area so the lighting is pleasant at night when you are sitting outside. Their Mean Green burger is AMAZING!!! It does come with jalapeños so if you don’t want it too spicy then you can ask them to hold those. I get their ciders and beers on draft and they usually cost like $ 3 or so. Their wines and canned beers are on the pricey side, though. The location is easy to pass by so make sure you drive so when you are getting close. Parking is minimal but you can park on the little street as long as you don’t block the neighbor’s gates and driveways. Restrooms are fairly clean. If you are eating then the serves will most likely help you but if you are just here for drinks then you can go up to the bar and get your drinks since it is a «pub» style bar.

Cheap drinks! Friendly bartender! Wifi! We came here Christmas Eve so the food wasn’t available — bar service only. Will definitely want to come back to try out their food. Good drinks!

It’s only fitting that my 300th review is a local one, for a change. I’ve been visiting the Hideout for years usually for work related meet ups. Would I make special trip here, probably not as I have a slew of sports and dive bars nearby my home. But our office is only a few minutes away so the Hideout has been our go to place to either wind down after a 9−5er or say goodbye to a colleague. Parking is usually a challenge but there is always space either in the lot or on the street. When we visited on Friday, post work, it was packed. But as usual service was excellent. Our server came by on a regular basis to check on us(6 on two high tops). This seems to be the norm here no matter how busy they are or how many large parties service is also good. However they do it they should sell it to other establishments. On to the good stuff… There are plenty of good beer options on tap or bottled. Like cider they have options for you as well. Full liquor license with all the usual suspects. I did see some healthy looking shots pass by us. I’ve only had some appetizers here a few visits a go and they were OK. I did hear that they have upped their game in the food area. The Hideout will continue to be our go to crash pad!!!

I almost — literally — rated 1 star or no stars because that’s now much I love this place and how much I don’t want it to get too popular, but, alas, since I love the place so much I had to give it my true heartfelt rating — A solid 5 stars(if I could give it 10 I would)! Besides the food being one of the best«bar» food joints — i have no doubt that the Foodies will find hideout and self-proclaim it their own discovery — the staff is awesome, the scene is on point for your true hideout bar, the movies are definitely on point for your childhood nostalgia(as long as you’re born pre-1988), the drinks are strong and the tunes box has all you need. There are all walks of life from your bikers to hipsters to your average joes to nurses to the suits — everyone feels welcome and comfortable — There is no going wrong at The Hideout.

It’s The Hideout… the end. Ok, ok, ok. So I’ve been stalking Austin Talk for about a year now… love, love, love the characters… takes one to know one, all that crap. Well, Catherine aka Kitty aka Witty Kitty aka resident Austin Talk bad ass checks into this place damned near every night! That’s not judgement… that’s reverence. I needed to know, what was it? Who is she? And what the hell is this place all about? I had all(almost) my wildest dreams satisfied recently. Not only did I get to meet Catherine, I got Ron, Phil, and Carl as well… it was a homerun! What I can tell you is this place is character laden! The parking lot is dicey, but as soon as I saw the neon sign I felt all warm inside, almost giddy! Choice of liquor was impressive as well as draft beer. Bartenders were a part of the character fabric, but shouldn’t be dallied with or discounted – they’re all business… very professional bunch. Nice size interior where there are sports on t.v., folks singing karaōke, steel darts, and trivia I believe occasionally? Look, there’s just a lot going on. It’s like being Danish… in Denmark, they believe in belonging to various clubs of divergent interests… the Danes would LOVE the Hideout! Then there’s the patio… all walks of life, lots of different conversation… I was intoxicated before ever taking a drink, my senses overwhelmed! The ladies room was an experience as well… clean, but an adventure all the same. And the best thing? Kitty, Ron, Phil, Carl. Can’t wait to do it again! Folks, stop by the Hideout… watch how you park, enjoy a stout, well-made drink, play a game of 301. Say hi to Catherine… but don’t touch her for Chrissake!

Great place to hang out with friends both inside and outside. No frills, no bluster, just a great«hideout» kind of bar to chill out, have some beers, and enjoy the company of others. Outside patio has a great number of picnic tables that adjoin in rows and seating can be quite communal at times. This is great, since everyone is there to have a good time, you often end up talking with other groups of people and expanding your own group. Lot’s do look at, great crowd, and reasonably priced drinks. I use the term«dive bar» in the most respectful and flattering way it can be interpreted. Go, enjoy, bring some friends, and have a nice time.

I reviewed the hideout before and I still love this place! A bit divey which I’m into. All walks of life. Young, old, and in between. Middle class, few hipsters & punks. Jukebox has a good mix of good songs & food is surprisingly delicious. Bar staff isn’t super friendly but just right for the atmosphere. Try wing night on Wednesdays. .50 $ wings.

I like Hideout. It’s a great place to watch games(or whatever other random movies/shows they happen to have on), sip on beer, and eat decent pub food. The staff seems to be friendly and laid back. I will say that in the couple of times I’ve been here, the quality of the food seems to be a bit inconsistent(or so say the people I came here with). But the tator tots are a winner. Not that there’s anything especially unique about them, but they’re solid tots and they’re perfect leftovers to take home and eat for breakfast the next day!

The atmosphere is the cupcake here. The drinks are the icing. The parking lot is weird, the front is straight up strip mall and the location is jammed. But when you walk in you get a nice, relaxed vibe that makes you smile. Not trendy, not hipster, not fussy. Straight up neighborhood bar. I’m willing to bet half the people in there knew the bartenders and waitresses by name. Probably actual bartenders here, rather than ‘mixologists’. I like mixologists, don’t get me wrong, but I grew up on bartenders(yes, grew up is the correct phrase. My dad brought me to bars before I could walk. He liked hanging out with me and he liked hanging out in bars, so he combined the two. There was a 1960 picture of me at about 3 years old, sitting on the bar, laughing gleefully, while my dad and his barfly cronies stood on either side of me smiling, Stroh’s, PBRs and shot glasses in hand, as the bee hived bartender held on to me to keep me from falling off. I come by my love of bars honestly). It was pleasantly full when we strolled in at about 4 on a Thursday, but we could still grab 2 tables for the group of 7 we were expecting. I looked about for Witty Kitty, knowing she hangs here a bit, but couldn’t see her so we hunkered at the tables and waited for the crew. A pair of guys asked if they could sit at the end of the table and that was fine with us. Right then the waitress showed up and that’s where the drinks come in. They know how to pour here. A nice bourbon and club soda went down very quickly and ML ordered a specialty Paloma that she said was delish. Then the crew rolled in. Food and drink orders started to flow but the waitress was all over it and did a fine job. The noise level was not high and conversation flowed. All in all, the food was perfectly fine pub grub. Nothing really stands out except the tater tots, which came with the burgers and immediately made me smile, but the fried Jalapenos, burgers and sandwiches were all good. And the prices were good too. Honestly, this is one of those places where no one single thing stands out as great, but the whole package coalesces into a really comfortable bar. The hours flew by in happy conversation, drinking and snacking and before I knew it, it was time to go home. We are South of the River folk, but we’ll come back this way just to hang out with this same crew at this same bar.

Great place to go for a cheap beer or drink and listen to good music! They have a good juke box with a great variety of music they also serve food which is actually pretty good for being bar food, they have an awesome burger. Hideout also has a large outdoor patio with a lot of seating! They have TVs inside so when football arrives it a good place to watch games, however they don’t have any outdoor TVs. I have been coming here for a long time and love it!

The service was really bad here once but not always. They stopped serving us drinks saying that we have the right to reject you drinks. It would have been fine if we were causing them or others any kind of trouble but we were just drinking our beers minding our own business. In fact they took away the beers that we were already drinking and sent us away. When asked for the reason they said«we just want to make sure our customers are not too drink so that they can go home safe.» Other than that this is my fav places here in Austin. Love the ambience and the patio.

Definitely a great happy hour spot! A large group and I came here last friday and had a blast! A couple notable things for us: 1) The service was very accommodating and friendly. We were probably there from around 3 pm to 10 pm and were a rather rowdy group of 10. Not once did we feel like they were ushering us out or that they were frustrated by our presence. Our waitress came to check up on us frequently and brought us our food and drinks relatively promptly. Great service all around! 2) Oh man happy hour is dirt cheap! $ 2 wells, and $ 2 or $ 2.50 draft drinks! That’s nearly half the price of other happy hour places I’ve been to and probably a ¼ of the price that you would get at a bar. The food was good too(nothing to rave over though — we got the quesadillas and the chicken fingers) but the cheap drinks and friendly service is really what would bring me back!

Almost everyone in Austin has driven by this place and probably didn’t realize it. Heading south on Mopac, you have to take the far right lane just after Parmer and head down into a ravine that holds the train tracks. As appropriate as the name is, this place is really a hidden gem. It looks divey from the outside, so much so my GF was initially hesitant about going in. But soon it was apparent it held the 20 to 50 somethings and more, all with their Androids and Iphones in tow. Laid back atmosphere with a few big screens to watch the games. Jukebox with decent but not great selections. Outdoor seating at picnic benches that is nicely laid out and offers some shade in the summer. Beers are cold and the Pear cider is always a favorite of my guests. Even a decent bar menu, not cuisine by any means, nor is it meant to be. Nachos, burgers have all been fairly good. Last trip we tried the mean green nachos and shared between 3 of us and it was enough to put down a nice alcohol barrier. :) Enjoy but please don’t come too often as it’s my current place to get away and if you all start showing up, well then, it’s not a Hideout any longer.

My girl, Kimberly K recommended that we meet up here. Hideout is related to Bender and Barfly’s which I have been to previously. Bender is in my neck of the woods and I am definitely a fan. I could definitely see the resemblance between Bender and Hideout. Steve H, Kimberly K and I all sat at the bar. The bartender was awesome! He made some specialty drinks for Kimberly and he made us all some girly, yummy tasting shots too. Oh and the prices here are like Bender and Barfly’s — cheap! The night were were there the wings were 50 cents. We ended up getting a basket full of ranch flavored wings, which totally hit the spot. I also enjoyed the tunes coming from the juke box. My only complaint for Hideout really is that they are so far up in the northlands of Austin. I am definitely a fan and would come back here!
