Awful. The«Gyro Homemade Platter» was 100% fat. No meat. All fat. Disgusting.

The dolmas are delicious! I’ll be back for more! They had just closed, but happily took my order! This is authentic yummy Greek food with excellent pricing!

That gyro wrap doe: fluffy, warm, and fresh-tasting pita wrapped around layers of tender, juicy, flavorful beef and lamb gyro, some perfectly-seasoned fries, & fresh veggies. This was probably the best gyro wrap I’ve ever had in Austin…& unfortunately, it was my boyfriend, and not me, who ordered it. I ordered the«original homemade gyros platter», which came with a decent serving of pork gyros, fries, fresh tomatoes and onions, tzatziki sauce, and a couple of slices of warm pita bread. This tasted great, too, but the fatty, tougher pork meat lacked the tenderness and flavor of the beef and lamb gyro inside of the wrap. Delicious and very filling, but I was definitely a bit envious of the wrap I didn’t order — I offered up a trade, to no avail. Boyfriend and I enjoyed the fries so much that we ended up ordering a side of greek style fries — basically, the crispy, fresh, and beautifully-seasoned fries served inside of the wrap and on the platter, but just kicked up a notch with«shredded kefalotyri cheese»(salty and sharp!), sea salt, and oregano. They were perfect. As full as I was, I couldn’t stop eating them. The beef and lamb gyro wrap was $ 6.90 and the pork gyro platter was $ 9.90 — I’d say both were worth the portion sizes and quality served. I am definitely going to be back when I am craving gyro.

We’ve only been here a handful of times but by the second time the owner remembered us and was super friendly! We love the personal touch and that the couple is always so friendly! They even give us a little meat for our pup to enjoy — which he can’t wait for: D The food is amazing!!! They told us this last time that they are going to be serving fresh made pork, lamb and chicken from now on — had no clue it wasn’t already! EVERYTHING here is amazing!!! We ate pork shwarma tonight and it was to die for — and I hate pork but I loved this! For my husband and I it’s usually around $ 22 for 2 gyros, 2 drinks and a fry to share. It’s a steal of a deal and they are for sure worth the wait on a busy Friday or Saturday night! They beat the socks off Kismet Café!

Gyro heaven. I have tried lots of gyros in my days but this one ranked as my all-time #2. Only to be outdone by a place in Denver, CO. The original was soft and tender with unbelievable flavor. I wasn’t in the mood for the traditional burger or heavy meal so I thought why not try it out. So very glad I did and since it’s very close to Seton’s medical district, I still be back over and over again. Also, the owner sat the bench next to me and was very nice which helped top off a great meal.

Rather on the salty end of things… Maybe that’s the norm for kabobs? I didn’t like the fact that fries were included in every meal. Wish they had more substitution options for them

On a number of occasions, I’ve dropped by this truck for a quick bite to eat, and I would say that each time my opinion has continued to slip into a sort of disappointed state. The falafel, though freshly fried, lacks a certain oomph – of course, I’m not Greek and don’t know whether it needs more herbs or garlic… maybe even some sort of spice. At the least, I can say that it wasn’t the best. But, the dolmas are what actually sunk my heart. Handmade dolmas are a lost art(assuming you can count culinary as a type of art), and GORGYS isn’t doing anything to put a stop to this claim. At $ 6 an order, the 3 dolmas are steep… because I watched them take them right out of a freshly opened can. Sad day. Anyone know where you can get fresh dolmas in Austin?

WOAH this place has re-defined«food truck» and«gyro» forever. THE place to stop by in this area of Austin. Seriously, make the drive and go get it.

Most definitely the best gyro in Austin. When I bite into it, I all the components meld together so well. I can taste the savoriness in the tender meat. The parsley jumps right out at you as soon as you bite in. The fries are just amazing. I’m not kidding when I say they probably have most places beat on their fries alone. All of it is just so good. They most assuredly have Milto’s beat — duh. They beat Phonecia. And I really think the fries push them past Pars and Big Fat Greek Gyros. Beside the amazing tasting food, I couldn’t get over the feel of the place. It’s not often that a food truck has such an atmosphere to it. I don’t know if it was the owner speaking in Greek to his daughter(?) or the gentle care that the owner put into making my gyro, but it just felt very authentic. It almost felt like a little piece of Greece was dropped into the center of Austin. Trust me — you should try this place.

Oh the flavors! Oh the freshness! Go with the original gyro and experience the awesome all over your tastebuds. The soft AND crisp pita is like a comfy, yet firm pillow of deliciousness. It is the stuff with which their outstanding hummus must be ingested. I think they use maple syrup(the real stuff) for their baklava, which gives it a flavor that I wasn’t expecting, but it wasn’t bad. I didn’t realize their trailer was right next to the Spider House Ballroom. It was Halloween night and the club was packed, so there was no street parking. We almost gave up and went somewhere else. WHAT A TRAGEDYTHATWOULD’VEBEEN!!!

Gyro meat is great, service is not(except for the younger guy who works there)! The most recent visit I asked for extra meat and they didn’t hear me, so I received a gyro plate and came back stating I didn’t feel we received the extra meat we paid for, unbeknownst to me we hadn’t paid for it because they took our order wrong. They accused me of being a liar, reprinted my receipt to prove it, and were rude to me in front of other customers, offering no solution. I would have gladly paid extra for the meat, and thought I had. All this caused by their staff getting my order wrong, which is apparently the customers fault. Please check your receipt, and be clear when you order, because if there is a problem with your order it will not be resolved. Needless to say I would rather walk 100 ft to Halal Bros or Miltos who have equally good gyro meat until their service improves.

Very delicious food and authentic ingredients, the gyro wrap is very nice and seasoned. Just one notice though, I thought that in Greece the most used meat is pork? I liked that gyro and it is one of the best U.S. gyro beef/lamb meats but I thought to be wholly authentic they would make it with pork. Unless it is pork and my taste bud’s are deceiving me.

Best Gyros I’ve had since being in Greece. The veggie gyro is amazing. The tzatziki sauce is amazing! The fries in it are delectable, crisp & seasoned. Yum. Great prices. Have gone back repeatedly! Can order while at Spider House and the owner will bring it over. A+!

I’ve been here twice because my friend’s bands tend to play at Spider House. SOO glad I ran into this business. It’s easily one of my favorite places to eat, I just wish I lived closer. I don’t know much about gyros because theirs were the first I’ve ever had but damn… Some of the best food I’ve tried. If you’re in the area, or even if you’re not, go out of your way to try this place.

So I had a hankering for a good gyro and although Popouli’s is a block away from me, I got sucked in to venture out and try this place because they put french fries in the gyro. Yes. That alone was enough to get me on the road and venture the 2 miles downtown. Such an ordeal… well, the parking actually was, so there you go. In any case. On previous trips to Thailand, one of my favorite things to eat while there is the street gyros that the middle eastern guys make there. They are phenomenal! A great thing about them, was that they sliced the meat off the spinning gyzmo and then heated it up in oil along with some french fries that had already been cooked. Just perfect! Well, back to this place before I loose myself down memory lane. The gyro itself was delicious! I did think it was a tad too small in my opinion for $ 7, but the flavor made up for it. I was glad because as well as being small, it also had very few french fries and I don’t think they had that great flavor they would get if they were heated up with the meat. Every thing on the gyro was fresh and tasted fresh. The meat was plentiful and very well seasoned as great gyro meat is. The sauce was a little bland, but it was not an issue due to the meat spices. I also ordered 5 falafel for $ 5. These were definitely not on par with the gyro. I was very disappointed. The people running the place seem very nice. A man that I assume was owner even wanted to feed my dog which was very nice of him. I will maybe try them again if I am in the area and not too hungry. Granted, only if I want to spend $ 7 on a delicious small meal or if I am introducing someone to gyros. Lot’s of people here in Texas that need to try a gyro. Parking around here is terrible so walk if you can, otherwise, park far away and walk. It will be faster than driving for a spot.

Without a doubt it is my favorite place! Greek food is really, of course, the main people who work there are Greeks. Gyro meat is always fresh, vegetables too. This food is very healthy and it tastes totally different. I love the Greek salad, no dressing is absolutely no need to be delicious.

Maybe I need to try something else, for now I went with the Original Gyros and mmmmmaybe my expectations were high or maybe you need to be high to enjoy it as much as the reviews set it up for. Wouldn’t discard it if in the area again, but definitely not the Original, it was too overwhelming, too many ingredients Im not used to seeing in a gyro, like the fries which really overpower the flavor of the meat… which in my opinion, it shouldn’t even have fries in it in the first place, the tsasiki was there but the taste went m.i.a. Although it will sober you up if you’ve reached defcon 1 after miscalculating the alcohol intake on that last call rush at 2am.

I love gyros, so it would stand to reason that a food truck with gyros in the name would be right up my alley. This was recommended to me by a friend as an extremely authentic Greek gyro place, and that’s exactly what it is. Located right in the Spiderhouse parking lot where that great Japanese truck Love Balls used to be, Greek Original Gyros has a fairly focused menu. For $ 7, try a gyro wrap. It will come out in about five minutes and contain the following ingredients: — Delicious spit-roasted gyro meat — Tomatoes — Onions — Tzatziki(great stuff) — French fries with spice on them I mention each item not because I don’t think they’re each great(though they are), or because I have a Rain Man-esque devotion to cataloging every sub-component of my food(though in this era of factory-farmed food logistics chains that might not hurt), but because those are all you can get on your gyro, request though you might. I had an interesting chat with the owner about that — I’m a fan of olives, and after I finished eating I suggested that he might consider adding olives to his recipe. He smiled at me, shook his head, and we proceeded to talk about authenticity, and how he was committed to serving exactly the type of gyro that you’d get in Greece. No olives, no feta, no spicy sauce, no fooling around with Americanized culinary corruption, and if you don’t like it, you can go to Tino’s. While I would love to have the option for olives/feta/spicy sauce, both because I think the concept of «authenticity» in food is highly overrated, and because(as I told him), I thought adapting the food to American tastes might increase his business, I respect him for sticking to his guns and serving exactly the food he wants to serve. Firstly because, without passion for your craft, restauranteuring becomes just another nine to five, but secondly because his gyro was delicious. Better than Tino’s, exactly as he said. So don’t go here if you want a gyro that’s had all the edges rounded off to suit an American palate, go here if you want a gyro served by someone who thinks he knows how a gyro is made better than you do and has devoted his entire business to that philosophy. Chances are he’s right. Besides, you can probably order a Greek salad and sneak a few olives off it into your gyro without him noticing. Don’t tell him I told you that though.

I tried one thing: the«Original Gyros Wrap». It was delicious! The pita bread was fresh and foldable, the gyros meat was really flavorful, good tzatziki sauce and a few paprika seasoned fries in the fold. All-in-all this was an excellent gyro sandwich.

Never mind the bollocks-inspired names, here’s Greek Original Gyros. Best pitas I’ve had… ever? Ever. Soft, buttery, lightly seasoned, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. I had a dolma plate. There’s not many dolmas on the plate, but they come with those fabulous, fabulous pitas… so, I can’t complain. The tongue-in-cheek dish names on the menu are a perfect match for Spider House Ballroom’s usual shenanigans. Go forth. Giggle. And order all the pitas. ALLTHEPITAS.
