Five guys is so so so so good. Who cares that it’s kind of dingy, the tables aren’t really clean, there may be crying children, the wait might be like 45 minutes for lunch i.e. not really«fast» food… I love their cheeseburgers! It’s probably among my top guilty pleasures. I get it with everything but pickles. The patties are cooked perfectly(well done, they claim, but somehow still juicy). The fries are also delicious because I like fries that have a soft inside, and the thick cut of FG fries guarantees me that texture. The cajun spice is delicious but overpowering after a while, but that’s a personal preference. If you’re looking for a casual burger, this place is great. 4.5 stars, solidly earned.

Took care of my hot dog craving. Nicely roasted dog, with all the trimmings. Friendly staff. Try lettuce and sliced tomato for a robust hotdog!

Usually the guys here are friendly, but today a doughy middle aged guy who seemed to be a manager raised his voice in a condescending manner when I did not initially respond when my number was called. «Mister, You Are 90!» The previous number was 85 so I didnt expect my number to be called out so fast. He did not have to be a dick about it especially as a manager.

I arrived on a Monday afternoon at about 1:30pm. The parking lot to the shopping mall was extremely crowded since Christmas was only 4 days away. Nonetheless, I trudged on and eventually found a parking spot. The interior was nice, and there was a display of potatoes and free peanuts in front of the counter. There were also many articles on the walls of awards Five Guys had won in different states all around the US. There was no one in the line at the time. I examined the menu and discovered that the menu wasn’t too big, but there were free toppings. Free toppings? You can’t beat that. Most burger places charge extra for free toppings. I ordered a bacon burger and added regular fries and a drink. The toppings I selected were mushrooms, grilled onions, and cheese. I like the swiss style burgers with bacon. Came out to about $ 15 something. My burger was ready as soon as I finished pouring my fountain drink. It was really fast. My order came in a bag. The ketchup containers were really large so 2 was enough. The fries arrived in a cup, but it overflowed because I was given more than that. Big portions are always a plus. The fries were good and solid. I ate all of them before getting to my burger. The burger had two beef patties and flimsy bread, but amazingly it held up. It was freshly cooked with no preservatives so it was a plus. Pure unadulterated beef. The other ingredients came together perfectly to make it taste real good. I’m not a burger connoisseur, but Five Guys has some really good burgers. I also noticed that you can take peanuts for free at the display. I would definitely come here again and Five Guys is worth the hype.

From a vegetarian perspective, Five Guys is a bit underwhelming. I ordered the veggie sandwich. It’s essentially just veggies & buns, which *could* be delicious if done right. But without any kind of sauce, it tasted mostly like a plain salad & bread. I also added jalapenos, and even then it was rather bland. The grilled onions & grilled mushrooms didn’t pack much flavor, which leads me to believe they weren’t grilled for long enough. I imagine adding cheese to the sandwich makes it much more interesting. I will say that all the veggies seemed fresh though, so they have that going for them. I’m sure they’d be great in an actual salad. With that said, I think the fries are decent — thick-cut & not soggy. The little size is plenty for one person. I actually prefer the Five Guys style over the cajun fries; I find the latter to be over-seasoned, but it does have a bit of a kick if that’s what you’re looking for. Oh, and if you need some extra protein, you can always grab a fistful of peanuts.

I loved the burgers. They are fresh, hot, cooked to order and seasoned well. I’m sure if you ask them to add more pepper and salt while cooking, they’d do that as well. That’s what makes a good patty, fresh quality meat, salt and pepper before hitting the grill, good ratio of fat to meat, and not smashing it with those giant spatulas. The fries are delicious as well. They are hot and fresh and they give you plenty. The staff was very friendly and willing and ready to explain to new customers that were there while we were there. Give ‘em a try when you can spare the calories, definitely not health food! Thanks!

Food? Good. Clean? Check. Annoyance factor? Off the charts. Is there no casual place that does not automatically assume the majority of their customers are hard of hearing? Besides us, there were only 2 – 3 other tables in use at the time but you would have thought the place was so packed that the piped in music had to be kept at full blast to rise over conversations. We asked if the volume could be lowered, were told they’d «try» and of course as is so often the case, nothing was done. Really? I admire the nifty extras you can get on your burger for no extra charge, but the one thing missing is any attempt to jazz up the meat itself. Salt? Pepper? Seasoned salt? Something? They need that to tie it all together since the meat is cooked on a grill rather than over flames(flames being always the absolute best choice, by the way). The final thing is that with all the extra goodies, the bun just can’t hold up long enough. Tasty burger but my head still hurts from the noise so that’s why 5 Guys didn’t get 5 stars.

Cool atmosphere, excellent burgers, and fresh french fries. I got the«little» bacon cheeseburger. It was still about a quarter pound. The meat, cheese, bacon, and veggies were all fresh. I will definately be back!

I’m a strong supporter of the Whataburger burger — but this definitely gets my vote for 2nd place best fast food burger. Most people love the fries, I personally think they are seasoned too heavily. The staff at this location is hilarious, very upbeat and making sure you are have a good time while waiting for your food. The burger is solid, definitely worth a visit.

I went to 5 Guys on recommendation from friends. I was quite disappointed. I got the bacon burger all the way. The buns are small and ordinary, the patties are dry and burnt, the bacon was tough, and the large Cajun fries was a huge portion but were very soggy. It just remind me of a family backyard cookout and your uncle was trying to cook burgers, hot dogs, chicken wings and kabobs all at the same time and nothing got cooked correctly. However, they did have all you can eat salted peanuts. There are other burger joints in town that are much better.

If you like to pay $ 13 for a burger, fries and drink and still be hungry after eating one, Five Guys is your place.
It turns out that a dinner for two at Five Guys would be more expensive than the $ 20 three course dinner for two packages @ Chilis & Applebees.
That’s not value!

Great tasting burgers, only issue I have ever had is that the bun is so fresh & you like plenty of topping get ready for a soggy bun. If you get past that occasionally your solid.

I may get some slack for this, but I just thought this place was so so. The flavor of the burger is very tasty, but I definitely don’t think it’s worth the price. I felt like I could get the same burger at another restaurant like chili’s or red robin for about the same price and the sandwich would be larger and already come with fries unlike at five guys. The free peanuts are fun, the fresh cut potato fries are yummy, and the massive array of toppings you can choose are cool, but in the end it seems just a step up from any other fast food burger joint.

After my over-priced experience at Elevation, I decided to come here… for an equally over-priced experience. 1 small drink, 1 small fries, 1 plain cheeseburger = $ 13.14(Where the hell do they get off charging this much?!) Alright so what is more annoying is ALL the plackards around the restaurant saying reviews how it’s this great«$ 5 burger»($ 5 does not equal $ 6.99) and how the burgers cause orgasms, cure cancer, and stop mass shootings. Whenever I see a restaurant making art out of newspaper columns about them… they’re clearly not competent. That aside, my $ 13+ burger was bland as hell. The meat wasn’t even seasoned! I’ve had better burgers at Wendy’s for half the price. Just ridiculous. On top of that, the person behind the counter had no manners. He had his back to me and he turned around and said«Do you need something?» like I Was bothering him. I told him yes and he was like«Well what?» That’s not how you greet a customer and that’s certainly not how you ask for an order. Did I mention the burger was bland? Save your money and make the trek to Smashburger. It’s about $ 4 – 5 cheaper and the burgers are INFINITELY better. It’s probably the best burger in Austin(Smashburger, not Five Guys). While I do like that the chain started off as a CEO hiring ex-felons, the fact that they now charge so much for a simple burger combo is beyond me. With all the decent burger places in Austin, avoid this one. Even Whataburger is an upgrade.

Not big on processed/fast food burgers to begin with, but was talked into trying it because it was«not fast food» and I just Had to taste Five Guys… Well I did. And was disappointed by chain-store ‘food’ again. Good News though — I thought of a better name for them, «Mediocre Burger», and it inspired me to write this little joint: The guys who got me to try Five Guys Burgers n’ Fries told me some lies, Son! TL;DR: Save your money go to Mighty Fine a few blocks away. It usually takes either an exceptionally good experience or extraordinarily bad one to get me motivated to come write a review. I can give restaurants some slack but when it comes to the horrible piece of shit that I just had at this place, I feel obligated to share my experience. Not only did the people behind the counter screw up my simple cheeseburger by adding stuff that wasn’t on the ticket, they were condescending when I went to point it out. I refused a new burger because it’s no trouble to take extra stuff out. The real issue was when I took the first bite into the burger. For 7 $ the least I would expect is to have properly seasoned meat. The burger was so bland that if I didn’t know any better I’d think I was eating a soy patty. I know that the burgers are usually served sloppy style but for some unexplained reason the bottom bun was soggy and cold, making it a pretty miserable experience. If it’s any consolation, the fries were just as you’d expect them to be, no complaints there. But for someone who doesn’t like peanuts, I am definitely driving down the road to Mighty Fine where I know that I’ve always received good tasting, consistent quality burgers. Adieu Five Guys. –1 Customer & relatives.

I love this place. Peanuts, great fries lots of them, great bacon double cheeseburger anyway you like it. East coast its five guys, West coast its In & Out. In Austin its either. Try Both for great simple burgers and fries.

Where else in Austin can I get a little burger with ALL the veggies? I order just about everything on the toppings menu and have them pile it onto this tiny little burger. It’s the best concoction ever. My husband prefers the regular bacon cheeseburger. The bacon is always crispy and has good flavor. The cajun style fries are pretty good, too, but sometimes overpowering to my boring palate and I don’t always like a thick, mushy fry(but my husband does). If you haven’t tried Five Guys, give it a shot and customize your burger for the free.

I had been avoiding Five Guys for years due to a bad review from a colleague of mine in spite of the initial glowing reviews I had heard. This was only seconded by a second colleague also informing me that not only was it over-rated, but the fries were horrible. The Gauntlet gave me the perfect excuse to finally thumb my nose at the nay sayers and give the Guys a chance. Unlike one of my favorite burger joints, Mighty Fine, I didn’t feel like I was necessarily eating the top quality organic ingredients. The condiments weren’t gross at all, I just didn’t feel like I was eating one of the more healthy burgers — if such a thing is possible. And the fries I had heard such horrible reviews on? I enjoyed them as well. I even liked that they were thrown into a cup with a large about of bonus fries hanging out in my brown bag. The one issue I will point out with the fries is more around the condiments supplied by the establishment. The fries, which more like a homestyle or steak fry, were good solo or with ketchup. They however were not good with the malt vinegar. I’m a huge malt vinegar fan and have even had fries that way, but for me, the texture and flavor just wasn’t right for that mixture. With all of that said, I really enjoyed the burger and fries here. So much so that they both joined my top 5. I was pleasantly surprised. See more reviews at
