An old Austin favorite! Always delivers that good ‘old fashioned’ hamburger greatest!

I hate to bring this place down Bc I know what it means to the city of Austin. I just don’t understand the hype around Dans. I get that there is history. I see that the restaurant is clean inside and has some cool decorations. I would be lying if I said the burger I had in there the other night was anything I would eat again. I make better burgers myself on the grill. For a city that eats a lot of beef, the quality of the burger patty was sub par. And there are so many other options. Shake shack and Hopdaddy come to mind but even down the road, there is a In N Out that serves consistently good food. I’m Rollin out of here.

Consistent food and service! Love that they cook the meals after you order it. It makes a world of a difference! The parking is very limited but it’s worth a try if you’ve never been here. The buns are always nicely toasted and the patty is always juicy! Love coming here for lunch!

I have ate here all my life! It’s definitely my go to burger place in Austin! There are others out there and think some of them are A-OK or even you could say I’m a fan. But when it comes to my favorite burger place around it has to be Dan’s! It just feels like home whether I’m there for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I liked the older style. I like the new style. The food hasn’t changed. It’s still great! And this location is the closest one to my house so, I go there the most. Today was no different. The wifey and I stopped by and got the usual. I get a hamburger(no cheese) all the way with ketchup and mayo, no mustard. Today was a large! This is a huge burger! If you think you need a double, you can get one but compared to doubles at other places I would even consider in a pinch, they’re every bit as large as those. She gets a small or medium cheeseburger with mayo and pickles only. And we split a large order of rings. Those rings are by far the best around too, just like the burger! This is all in my opinion of course! They make very chocolatey shakes I might add as well. Yum! And their breakfast burritos/tacos are delicious! Now, I’ll admit I’m biased! There is no doubt about it! When something is as consistent and around for so long, you just tend to keep going back only to have your opinion confirmed again and again. I don’t need to mention other burger places by name because I’m sure you already have a favorite. But if you’re nearby one of the Dan’s locations, I highly recommend it.

Good Ol Fashion Hamburger. I Get a Large Cheeseburger, Mayo, No Onions. Always Good! The Chicken Strips are Also Pretty Tasteful. Parking Does Suck, And Be Prepared to Wait, But if the Food Was’nt That Good, There Would’nt be Anybody There.

I don’t know what happened to Dan’s but it just isn’t what it used to be. I phoned ahead for my order but due to the absurd drive through window that has been added I made the mistake of pulling into the parking lot and there was nowhere to park and no way to get back out without literally backing out. Orders take 20 minutes when it’s slow so you add a drive through window? Because of the traffic I could only loop around to later park at Whataburger across the street, and I should have just abandoned my Dan’s order and ate there. It was busy so had to stand in line for another 20 minutes while the staff ignored the line randomly. It was entertaining to hear the relationship troubles of a couple of the girls working, but would have preferred to get my food because at this point I was late for work. Normally I check the food. I didn’t today and that is on me I guess. Literally because my burger was raw. By the time I got to work the bottom of the white bag was red and dripping. I don’t mean rare. I eat my steak rare. This could only have been seared and put on a bun. The patty was cold to the touch and dripping blood. The bottom bun was saturated. I called and started by saying that I was at work and couldn’t come back, I didn’t want a refund, I didn’t want my order remade but wanted to warn them about it and ask they slow down busy or not so they don’t get people sick. The«manager» sounded as if he was reading a script. «Bring the food back so I can see it because we don’t even serve burgers that are pink» as if he hadn’t heard a word I said. Dan’s is just as horrible as the cheapest fast food joint these days, and care nothing about their customers. They lost a long time customer today.

This place is all around amazing! The breakfast is on point, everything from the homemade biscuits and gravy to the fluffy buttery pancakes. You can never go wrong with the hamburgers, onion rings, or curly fries! All for a hard to beat price! The only complaint is the parking, but I don’t mind walking a block or two to eat here.

Heard good things about this place so I decided to check it out for lunch with my co-workers. The place was packed and buzzing with people the whole time. Lots of people on staff. I’d say they did a great job of handling the lunch rush despite the volume. I even saw the manager in charger taking orders and handing food out. I love seeing that! I know they are typically the fastest employee on the staff so why sit back in the office during such a key rush. The enviornment was fun and welcoming. It has the old fashioned burger and shake joint feel but slightly more modern. Definitely a good enviornment for a casual lunch for lower prices. Lastly for the food. I got the large cheeseburger and it was fantastic! Also go for the curry fries because they’re much better than the reg ones. Didn’t get to try the shakes but I’ll have to next time and note on them. Over all great but not 5 star because it wasn’t THE best tire quiet yet.

First off, the woman who took our order, Jessica, is the sweetest! It was my boyfriends first time and she was more than accommodating. She answered every question we had with excitement and enthusiasm. She let my boyfriend try the bbq sauce to see if it’s something he would want. She had a smile on her face the entire time. Then she was so kind and listened and got our order done perfectly. Businesses should clone her. We got the regular burger and my boyfriend got the double meat. Then we got curly fries and onion rings. It was very good! No complaints and our order was done just right. I also love the old time diner feel to it! 5 out of 5!

This is a Old School Texas Hamburger joint. It’s a pink Cadillac short of being Jack Rabbit Slims. Definitely the Burger joint I was looking for. Ordered a large Jalapeño Cheeseburger, curly fries and a tea. $ 8.84. Burger was perfect at medium well. Generous sandwich that doesn’t fall apart. Tasty curly fries! If you want a great burger from a company who’s been around Austin since ’73 then check this place out.

We drive past this place all the time! Now, after finally stopping and trying it out, I’m kicking myself for not stopping here years ago! This place is mouthwatering good! We grabbed a quick cheeseburger and curly fries. Love that the burgers come in 3 sizes. The small was perfect for me and a medium for my son. The burgers are seasoned perfectly and just juicy enough to make you fall in love. But, not so juicy that you can’t eat it on the run. The curly fries are crispy and oh so good! If you haven’t tried this place– you are missing out! Only four stars because we only tried two things on the menu– I’ll update as we try more.

First and foremost — the parking situation sucks. The entrance on the 290 side, spits you right back out to it. No wrap around to find spots. That’s okay. I like illegal maneuvers to earn my meals. Also, to the lady with the extended cab truck– you don’t operate that vehicle well at all, and backing up should not be a 50 point turn, with a ground guide. Gheesh. The dining room is packed well ahead of lunch and I run into a college friend here. Nice unsuspected bonus. But– is it just me or does this place smell a little off? Like old, dirty clothes? I steal a booth and get dirty looks. Yep I’m one person taking an entire booth. Why can I write such an epic review? Cause my food still isn’t ready. Hurry up. Still waiting… Ugh. I find it fascinating that they offer different burger sizes. I got a medium. Maybe I’ll see it before lunch is over. Yassss finally! Fries– meh. I did get one curly fry by mistake. It was delicious. Would be inclined to order those next time over the regular ones. Now the burger. It’s like eating a whataburger, without all the mustard. I like whataburger… so it’s pretty good, but nothing spectacular. Plus the W is closer to my house. I’d return of my friends asked. But probably not for myself.

Dan’s isn’t the best burger in town by any means but it is shall we say way more than solid. Dan’s is very conveniently located for me and the drive through seems to work faster than ever since the remodel which is a big plus! Dan’s is always terribly busy inside there always seems to be a flood of people looking for a good burger and some great sides. This is great for Dan’s but not so good for the people looking to get a quick burger for lunch. If I have one complaint here its that there is literally always so many people inside the building that I feel crowded so I would recommended sticking to drive through. The sides at Dan’s are great and I absolutely love the onion rings here. My favorite thing is to get a double meat burger with onions rings and a root beer for lunch. I personally think Dan’s sides are better than the burgers. That’s not to say the burgers are bad but I’ve had better. The sides however are amazing here and you would be hard pressed to find better. If you are considering eating at Dan’s go for it you wont be disappointed.

Dan’s is a solid burger for sure! For me it is definitely up there on the top 5 list for best burger in the ATX. What’s so great about Dan’s you ask? … Well let me explain… The ingredients are fresh and solid. The patties are a decent thickness, which I prefer in a burger. The cheesiness is there and then the combination of toppings they put on it add flavor and juiciness to it all. I am a fan! I like that they also have burger size options. You can get a small, medium or large burger. On my most recent visit I got a medium, double patty and double cheese. It was just right for me. The large would have been too much on a double. The employees working here are solid too. I like that there is some consistency with their employees. I wouldn’t say I come here often, but when I do I recognize the employees from my last visit. Usually in the fast food environment the attrition rate is high, so this is something I noticed at Dan’s. This makes me feel like the employees might actually enjoy working at Dan’s. Also if you dine in there is someone that is waiting to ensure all tables are cleaned, cleared and ready for the next guests. The gentleman working this job on my latest visit was doing a great job! Dan’s is definitely a solid burger and worth checking out! I will be back!

HANDSDOWN my fave burger ever. I don’t like this new trend of fancy burgers with weird toppings. I want the old fashioned delicious burger of my youth and Dan’s has it. They also have amazing breakfast. My fave is the biscuits and gravy and the pancakes. They are both amazing comfort food. I like the new remodel. The place feels and looks cleaner and fresh. Nice employees and you get your food quickly.

Austinites will perpetually be immersed in the debate of who serves up the best taco; it’s essentially our official pastime. But a best-of quandary gaining attention is the determination of who serves up the city’s tastiest burger, and Dan’s has thrown its hat into the rink for consideration. The burgers here aren’t revolutionary — you won’t be scratching your head wondering how the pairing of a fig/raspberry/snozzberry reduction and elevated cheesy puffs came to be burger accoutrements; Dan’s sticks to what they know — the basics. And sometimes, well sometimes, you just need a taste of life’s simple pleasures. Like a straight-up greasy and grilled beef burger, with the almost so-normal-they’re-hip-again ketchup, mustard and onions. And curly fries. For the love of all that is artery-clogging, get the curly fries. This place should’ve put some serious consideration into installing a nap station during the renos, as you will be left with no energy to exert yourself in the nightmare of a parking lot/drive-through situation after your body shuts down to process all the ah, nutrients you’ve just consumed. Do I think Dan’s is the premier patty in town? No. But it’s straight-forward and delicious, and comes with a side of 1950’s diner kitsch, so it’s worth the pit stop. Word of the wise: pass on the milkshakes; I found the chocolate shake to taste of Hershey’s syrup and not even be remotely worth the calories.(If calorie-minding can even be uttered in an establishment such as this without people laughing you out.)

C-Certified Angus Beef so tasty and juicy! H-Hamburger without the cheese. E-Everything on it please. L, T,(sliced)onion, P&Mu. E-Eggs over easy would make a good topping. S-Sizzling beef on the flat top. E-Eyes can see into the kitchen. B-Buns nice, buttery and softly toasted on the flat top. U-Underneath the top bun matters greatly. R-Run to the counter and place your order. G-Grills make good burgers. E-Even little kids like good burgers. R-Real treat when you find a solid burger now-a-days!

The 5-star burger makes up for the 3-star onion rings(mine were cool, almost cold) and the 2-star parking. Great burger! I’ll be back. But only for a burger.
