A great classic steakhouse, great interior, the bread you get started with is warm and delicious. My steak was cooked perfectly, got a bottle of wine for a reasonable price. The mashed potatoes were just right and I loved the whole carrot you get. Plating was simple and hearty, just a good old fashion classy steakhouse. The waitress had this decrumber she called it, blew my little mind, tablecloth was spotless no matter how hard I tried.

This was my second visit to Bob’s. My first visit was phenomenal, so I arranged a large party to come in last night to celebrate a birthday. I’m ranking this as two stars bc when you spend $ 1000 on a dinner, you expect world-class service. We received 2-star service. The service was slow and they forgot my lobster tail, which would have been forgivable until what happened next. Instead of bringing out the lobster tail on the side, the waiter removed my whole plate — literally took the fork out of my hand as I was enjoying my baked potato. The whole table was surprised by this and it was kind of embarrassing. I was still patient as I watched the entire party finish their meals until the second steak came out cooked wrong. I ordered medium well and blood makes me lose my appetite. At this point I gave up on dinner, but I did mention this to the waiter’s assistant who told me «I’m sorry but I’m just an assistant» and the waiter who just looked at me. I wasn’t in the conflict mood so I let it go, and basically didn’t eat but paid a pretty penny. It’s so sad bc before this visit I ranked this as the best steak house in Austin. :(

Yummy!!! Had an awesome date night with my husband here. We came here kind of unplanned and didn’t really have any expectations. We don’t tend to choose steakhouses when we go out but so glad we chose this one. Ended up having a delicious lovely meal with great service. Smoked salmon and crab cake were delicious. Filet and lobster fantastic. Yummy Brussels sprouts with bacon in them. Hot bread smelled and tasted divine. A solid meal. Would go back.

Another waist of money at this place. If you’re gunna be $ 50+ on a steak at least serve prime beef. Had a bone in rib eye that was so full of hard fat it was inedible. But that is what we have come to expect from this place. Very sad.

This past month for our anniversary/birthday dinner we decided to give Bob’s another shot, at the invitation of the manager Geoff based on our previous review. All the things that were great about Bob’s remained the same: the service is incredible, the environment is comfortable and the food is generally top notch. For this special meal we opened with two salads, and the home made sausage which is made from some very fine cuts of meat. Let me also take a moment to mention that the bread they bring to your table is so tasty its near impossible to not scarf it all down. For the main course, I elected to go with the pork chop which is a huge piece of meat. For the birthday girl we went ultra splurge and got the American wagyu new york strip special, which cost a pretty penny but hey, when celebrating in Rome. We also had a couple jumbo bacon wrapped shrimp to accompany our two dinners which were tasty. The steak was the only slight disappointment. When you order a steak of that quality and price you really are expecting perfection. Not only did it come out with the incorrect side(smashed potatoes vs baked which is not a big deal that they immediately corrected), it came out under cooked. We ordered it medium and it came out rare, like very rare. Usually we can deal with a little rare but we had to send this one back for a quick hit of heat. Upon return it tasted excellent, just as we were hoping from the start. Bob’s is a great place in town, and the manager Geoff is a stand up guy who is doing his best to run one of the best steak houses in town. Twice now we’ve had small issues with our meal that really seemed to kitchen problems and not anyone else. As others have said, we would likely go back but are still searching for the best all around steakhouse in town.

Came here for a steak and great wine and enjoyed them both, I needed my steak a little Warner and asked bartender Stephanie said no problem and took a fork to and removed from my plate so everything Else got cold while I had the steak been heated up, I asked for a bottle of wine and got a glass thinking they kept bottle behind bar, I was wrong and kept pouring from different bottles, I understand they are busy with race in town, check was dropped in front of me like a diner not what I expect from a great steakhouse, As I’m from out of town they will never see me again and probably won’t care,

Awesome experience! The food was delicious, but the customer service was exceptional. We went to Bob’s to celebrate a special birthday. We were seated immediately after our arrival since I’d made a reservation. A staff member came to our table and thanked us for choosing Bob’s to celebrate our special evening with them. Although she made a mistake and told us happy anniversary she quickly corrected herself :-) She brought my boyfriend a birthday card with a personalized messaged signed by the entire staff; which I thought was super sweet! From the bread that they provided once you’re seated to the appetizer, drinks, main course, and dessert everything was exceptionally delicious! Several staff members came to our table throughout the evening to check on us, our drinks never went unfilled. Since we had to make another reservation we didn’t get to finish our entire meal at the restaurant. Our waiter brought us our check rather quickly and to our surprise our drinks and appetizer were comp due to an error they made about our seating arrangement. Without hesitation a nice tip was given. This was our first experience at Bob’s and we will certainly be back! Thank you for making the first part of our night extra special!

This place was amazing! By far the best lobster Mac and cheese that’s ever touched my lips. The bisque was creamy and very tasty. Probably the best bisque I’ve had too. I ordered the snapper and I wish it came with a sauce. It was a little dry but since everything else was best in class I’m still giving them a 5. The service was phenomenal.

I have never been so inclined to review a restaurant in all my years of dining. Last night, I was a guest of a dinner thrown by my husbands company. The place is absolutely beautiful. We dined on the roof top with a beautiful view of downtown. I had never been to a Bob’s Chop House. My husband made quite the deal about the place so I was pretty excited. Upon arrival, we were guided up to the terrace to mingle and have cocktails. What a beautiful space. So vibrant and fun. The waitstaff served shrimp cocktail while we mingled and I’ll tell you that shrimp was some of the biggest and most delicious I have ever had. Once sat for dinner, we had warm bread and a wedge salad given to us. The menu, seriously the menu. So many scrumptious options. I ended up getting a filet trio that had three different toppings. I can’t explain the heaven this girl was in. Cooker perfectly and served with this homemade skilled gravy potatoes. Absolute heaven. A nice piece of carrot cake sealed the deal on our dinner. The ambience and the food is absolutely 5 star all the way, but thats not what made my night. This was a very fancy dinner. Something I am not used to. Im used to cooking at home, and maybe dining out once or twice a year on special occasions. The servers were serving all this wine, and everyone was having cocktails and when my server came to me and offered me wine I declined. I just really wanted an Iced Tea. I asked the server if it wasn’t a problem for an Iced tea. I told him that if it wasn’t made, not to waste the effort making it for me. The server looked at me and said that the Tea was already made for the evening and even if it wasn’t, he would gladly make it for me because me being happy and enjoying myself was what mattered. I was floored. I didn’t realize that servers existed that truly want the guest to just be happy. He kindly brought me my tea and some sugar and said that if there was anything I needed further no matter what, to let him know and he would accommodate. I just had to get his name, and it was Nick. Nick made me feel like the most important person in the group and I was just a mere guest. I look forward to the next time I get to go out for fancy dinner and I will tell you it will be at Bob’s. The food, even though amazing, won’t be the only reason I go back, Nick is someone I look forward to seeing again. He truly made me feel special. Thank you to the rest of the staff for being professional, courteous, and accommodating.

Hands down one of the better meals I’ve had in my life! The filet was out of this world, onion rings and Mac and cheese were great as well! Service was spectacular, got to see the kitchen hard at work, what a crew! If you can get past the price, this place is well worth it!

The most incredible place I’ve ever eaten. The prime filet was crispy but rare in the middle which is hard to do. Incredibly tender! Mashed potatoes were amazing and SIMPLE. The only two things I I disliked is that they don’t have Angry Orchid and the carrot wasn’t great. They should do asparagus or something else instead. The staff was helpful. One waitress was irritated but to be expected with how busy she was. But even then she stayed very good at her job and very patient.

Come to a steakhouse with high end pricing. 9⁄10 of bottles of wine are $ 100+. No problem if I’m gonna pay morton’s prices on steak. $ 60 filet and ala carte sides. My table is rocking all over the place like I’m at tgif Friday’s. Then they put on a football game where 80% of the patio can’t even see the tvs. So I’m paying Ruth’s Chris pricing on steak and there is a speaker behind me blasting the game cast? I ask for Oscar on my steak and the server actually tells me there are a bunch of things that aren’t on the menu. This is insane if I’m gonna pay $ 200 for a meal in Texas, my table should be stable and here shouldn’t be college football game cast blaring in my ear. Go to Ruth’s Chris.

I’m actually a little surprised Bob’s only has 4 stars. This place was AMAZING!!! Disclaimer: We came in on a Sunday night for a private party, so we had the place to ourselves. Started off with drinks and apps on the rooftop. The rooftop itself was beautiful and comfortable, even in the middle of a Texas summer. Bob’s has misters and fans to keep everyone cool, and a great view to keep everyone happy. Music was great(my singing, not so much), with a level conducive to conversation as well as enjoying the jams — not an easy trick. Our party had the bacon wrapped shrimp and calamari. THISISTHEBESTSHRIMP I’VEEVERHAD. And let’s be clear, I’m 280 lbs., I’ve had lots of shrimp in my lifetime. These things were like supersized prawns, denizens of the deep, godzila shrimp the size of my fist. I had to get my friends to stand between the table and me, or else I’d have destroyed the entire tray. The calamari was delicious, as well, served with lemon and cocktail sauce, just as the lord intended when he decreed man shall only have calamari with lemon and cocktail sauce. I was one happy camper already. Loved the bar service. They were quick, efficient, and our drinks were perfect every time. We had an open bar, and in those instances bartenders are rushing to get in as many drinks as possible to raise the tab(trust me, I speak from past experiences), but our servers and bartenders took the time to offer suggestions, answer questions, and review drink lists and ingredients with us. They were there to make sure the entire party was happy, and I could tell they took a lot of pride in this. Then we went inside for dinner. They’d set up the table with salads already, and that wedge salad was phenomenal — although juuuuuuuuuuuuuust a bit heavy on the blue cheese. We had our choice of filet mignon, prime rib, rack of lamb, or chicken fettuccini, but let’s be real — no one is going to order the pasta for fear of being laughed out of the restaurant. I went with the prime rib, but did get to try everything. It was ALL amazing. Prime rib was soooo flavorful, especially with the crab topping, but the rack of lamb would be my recommendation overall. Best I’ve ever had. We had some really amazing wine that’s no longer in production, and got to keep the bottle(which was 3 liters or something ridiculous). Cheesecake for dessert. Divine. Truly. But the highlight of the night came when we were reviewing the scotch list, and our server brought up something that wasn’t on the list — Macallan M. Yeah, so this badboy is top of the line. They only made 1,750 bottles of these. Only 3 are in Texas, with 1 being at Bob’s in Austin. They made ONE handle of it, which sold at auction for $ 700,000. How do I know all this? Because our server, Nick, was knowledgeable as could be about not only this, but everything on the drink menu. How did it taste, you ask? Well, I’d equate it to kissing a unicorn. Magical. And they paired it for us with some ridiculously tasty cigars. I DON’T EVENLIKECIGARS. But the pairing worked so well, it really did make the smoke enjoyable. Everything about the place was top notch. Beautiful interior, impeccably dressed stellar wait staff, incredible drink list, and of course, the steaks… This place is out of my budget, but when I can, I will 100% be back. Loved everything about Bob’s Steak And Chophouse. And a shoutout once again to Nick, our server — who went above and beyond every step of the way, and Carrie(if I got that wrong please don’t hate me Carrie!) who ran the show and even texted me pictures of the bottle we were drinking because I was out of room for pictures on my own phone. This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had, and I’m so fortunate to have been a part of it. See you soon Bob’s and staff — I hope.

Wowzers! Mr. Smidgens had been wanting to try Bob’s for quite some time now. It was a perfect opportunity on this night because it was my buddy’s birthday. Well as I got out of my Über and walked up to the dark wooden doors, I thought to myself, «Man after that great workout I am looking forward to an awesome meal and a great time with friends!» I experienced one out of two. I have been to many steak houses across the country and in Austin alone. We were a party of ten. We had two of our friends show up late. The waiters were very anxious and were kind of pushy about waiting for our friends to show up. We brushed that off. We ordered drinks in the meantime and partook in the bread and pickles at the table whilst we conversed about how we were all looking forward to a great steak! I looked at the whiskey and scotch menu. $ 50 for 12 year RedBreast? Are you joking? I can get a whole bottle for $ 65. PASS! The waiter told us about all the specials a few times and made the bone in filet sound delicious! Our two friends arrived and we ordered appetizers. Our birthday boy liked the sound of the lobster app and wanted to order one along with the calamari. The waiter asked if we wanted two or three of them. We decided on two. Mind you this was off the menu. We went ahead and placed our full order for our main entrees as well since the waiter thought it would be better that way. A few of us ordered the bone in filet they had talked up so much and a few salads. Ten minutes later the waiter comes back and says they are out of the bone in filet. Seriously?!? Sooooo dissapointing. As we enjoyed the appetizers we had to ask for more bread and water. The service was lacking and you expect more from a steakhouse when you are all spending around $ 120 a person. Boom! Our steaks had arrived! Wait, what happened to our salads? They forgot them. I received a filet that looked like it was a 9oz that they made into a 12oz by using meat glue. Seriously, if you had seen this filet it looked odd because a part of it had curled up on the side and was hanging on to the rest by a fatty like tissue. Never ever have I been served a filet that looked like that. We asked for the check and as they handed it to me we noticed the lobster appetizers were $ 60 a piece. LOL! Our bad for not asking but their bad for trying to get us to order three of them. We could have ordered two more steaks. Haha! Good thing we all do well at our jobs and could just laugh it off. The biggest thing for us was the service. If you give us stellar service we could care less how much the meal was because we enjoyed the whole experience. This did not happen and it left the taste of dissatisfaction in our mouths. Normally I would give a place a second chance but first impressions are important. You let me down Bob. I’m not mad at you, I’m just dissapointed. I think we will stick to Vince’s place in the future. Hook ‘Em!

I’ve been to a few different Bob’ses(okay, two — are there more than that?) It’s always delicious, but it kind of tripped me out because it looked EXACTLY the same on the inside as the other. It kind of surprised me that there wouldn’t be more local flare/uniqueness inside a $$$$ restaurant. Maybe they’re trying too hard to make the fine dining business work with an «assembly line» style expansion. The food was pretty good, but the Chili batch was a bit salty. When dessert came, I ordered a slice of cheesecake, and was delivered a 10 lb chunk of a dodeca-decker monstrosity. It was amazing, but since I’m traveling the 50% of it I couldn’t eat will be going to waste. :((I needed your help @Meredith!) The service was good and fellow at the bar next to me was chill enough. The obnoxious lady with her sugar-daddy on the other side of him who probably used the words«business partner» quite loudly about a hundred times throughout my time there to make sure you knew that she was a SERIOUS person who should be taken SERIOUSLY was very sure to point out to everyone that she knew the owner and manager and could make introductions for people. Geez, I sure wish I was that important — the whole bar was jealous.

I think this is a good place to get a steak. I think there are better steak places in Austin though. My husband and I and two of our friends came the day before Valentine’s Day so that we could avoid the crowds on the actual day. The place was still really crowded and getting to valet was a mess — party to do with construction and just partly because it’s just a busy area of downtown during dinner time. We had reservations, but we were a little early so after arriving we sat at the bar for a cocktail until our friends got there. They also had the same struggles with valet, but hey, it is what it is. After we were seated I had my doubts about how the night was going to go. Our waiter seemed really knowledgable on all the menu items, but he seemed like he had no desire to be working. He wasn’t rude, more aloof, and annoyed that we were there. Don’t get me wrong, the food was great — really great. But I’ve had equally good food in Austin for less and with better service. Would I go back to Bob’s? Sure. Is it my first choice for a steakhouse, absolutely not.

Well boys and girls the wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary by going to Bob’s Steak and Chop House for dinner. This is a very nice high end steak house with great décor and super great service. We did not go on the patio because it was a very cold and rainy night but our table on the first floor was very nice. My wife had the bone in Ribeye and I had the larger filet. My wife got a Caesar salad, I passed. We also got the famous carrot and a potato of our choice, we both got the baked potato. The steaks were cooked correctly and were very good, on the carrot we both can eat carrots but in general we don’t, we tasted them and they were fine we just didn’t finish them. We finished off with carrot cake for desert. We now know what they do with all the un-eaten carrots, Ha! The only problem is that the city of Austin has 3rd street so under construction it was hard to find the valet. Would we go back? Yes!
