Blue Dahlia is probably one of Austin’s cutest brunch spots, perfect for a girl’s date on a weekend. Their tartines are not only delicious, but the presentation is equally wonderful which I definitely appreciate. The service is exceptional as well — they do takeout(my boyfriend has surprised me several times with this), and are eager to help you decide what to order, and even offer suggestions to items that are not on the menu! I came on Valentine’s Day weekend last year, and there was a performer playing accordion out back in the garden area — which, by the way, is such a beautiful outdoor space, and really gives it a homey, comfortable vibe. The price is great as well, and they offer typical brunch food in addition to their open sandwiches. I have yet to try much else because I really love the tartines. I recommend the salmon tartine especially! The wait might be long on a weekend, but Blue Dahlia is one of the most perfect places to enjoy a brunch in Austin.

I am such a fan of this place — I’m sad I can’t come eat here weekly! After arriving in Austin I dropped my things at my friend’s nearby apartment and we rode our bikes here to eat and shop around East Austin for a few hours. The weather was a beautiful so we chose to sit inside but right by the patio with the open air windows. My friend ordered the Salmon tartines while I got a sweet version with apricot jam, greens and nuts. I was starving so I also ordered the black bean salad. It was not a disappointment. It was a large portion with a generous helping of black beans, mango salsa, corn, and a delicious lime/citrus vinaigrette dressing. It was filling but light and absolutely fresh and delicious — just what I was looking for after a 7-hour travel ordeal with no meal on the plane! They have breakfast all day and had several yummy and healthy menu items I’d have liked to try. Next time I come to Austin I’ll be sure to stop in here again. YUM.

Great jams and jellies served with brunch and all of the bread items were very good, the fresh fruit was sweet and tasted like it was just picked. Great atmosphere and nice people. Parking is tricky and you may end up in the street. But other than that everything was great.

I liked Blue Dahlia a lot! The menu was different than what I was expecting. Not as much traditional breakfast fare, but perhaps a more French-inspired menu(I have no idea, I’ve never been to France). I chose one of the frittatas of the day, which was delicious and came with salad and 2 different types of bread — very large portions. I also split a plain croissant with a friend. For some reason our table had Nutella and 2 different kinds of jam, but I don’t know if that’s standard because I didn’t see it on other tables. The coffee was served in very large(wide) coffee cups that bordered on being small bowls. I liked the serving size, but the coffee was not strong enough for my taste. The atmosphere was cozy; it’s a small restaurant. It was intimate and my party was actually sat at a table with another party — family style, which was cool. The service was great! Our server was so kind, attentive, and even funny. He recommended different sauces to go with different frittatas(on the side). Other staff members were kind and attentive as well, refilling our coffee cups/bowls and taking our plates away, as needed. If I lived in Austin, I’d definitely eat at Blue Dahlia again.

Loved sitting on the patio… was not quite the menu we were expecting, but so glad we ended up there and our food was very delicious. Our table ordered the Belgian waffle with berries… the sausage frittata(my favorite) and a Parisian sandwich. Didn’t see mimosa on the menu, but they did serve one in a big glass for $ 4. We were all happy with our orders, the patio atmosphere added to the Austin experience. would love to go back. We went around 11am on a Saturday… people that came after us did have to wait to be seated, but we were immediately seated.

Great French food. Love their tartines(open faced sandwiches) and their desserts! Best pastries too! Love their chocolate croissants. Sometimes a crazy wait though for brunch/breakfast on the weekends.

Decided to try this place on my husband’s bday. They have a beautiful patio sitting. The taste of the food was great. But they need to improve on the presentation of the food. We had ordered a salad, appetizer platter and an entrée. Seems the chef is too obsessed with the salad greens. Everything looked the same because everything was covered with too much of greens, difficult to see what the actual dish was!!! Even they need to improve on the service. It seemed as if only 1 guy was working and others were busy chatting. We almost waited for 15 mins before someone came and asked us for to-go boxes. The dinning room hardly had any tables occupied, just couple of tables at the patio. When we entered, we saw most of the staff was chatting, sitting down and eating on the table.

I’ve been to Blue Dahlia twice, first time more than a year ago and enjoyed patio in warm weather. This time cold, ate indoors. Nice menu, lots of vegetarian options!(I am not a vegetarian but do like the option for lighter food) I wish they had a few less frumpy options although goat cheese tarine was yummy. Expected Tarine to be toasted it was not. All in all, very nice location and service, food good and casual. Recommend in east Austin 11 st area.

Great place to grab brunch! Cute little area with both indoors and outdoors. It may get crowded for a late brunch so go early! The Belgian waffles was my favorite!

Cutesy little place on the east side. Had the egg salad with capers. Why have I never eaten egg salad with capers before? So delicious.

My husband and I decided to grab breakfast downtown that wasn’t in the food truck variety. We stumbled upon here after discovering a few other places were food trucks and we wanted a place to sit down. Upon entering we were promptly greeted and asked to sit anywhere we like. We settled on a table and ordered coffee while we scanned the menu. The coffee came back in a huge cup that reminded me of being at home on a cold winter day. I decided to order the soft boiled eggs that came with organic greens and fresh French bread. The presentation of the meal was inviting and the eggs were prefect. My husband ordered the daily organic egg frittata with sausage, bread, greens with pesto. The frittata was very taste and the pesto was a nice touch. I enjoyed the coffee and the free refills. This restaurant has seating out front and in back besides the inside of the restaurant. I think it would be make a great happy hour spot in the back.

Shouldn’t have changed portion sizes. Used to love this place, my girlfriend first brought me here summer of 2015. The cheese board was $ 10 during HH and $ 19 other times. Pricey, but insanely good and the portions were awesome. They’ve since cut down on portion sizes for the cheese boards, as well as the order of mussels. I’ve been here and seen an order of mussels reach even 30 mussels per order. They were always delicious. This evening we came and ordered the cheese board and the mussels(along with two bottles of wine) and the cheeses were much smaller portions(still delicious). And the mussels were about 12 – 15 mussels that tasted awfully fishy. Incredibly disappointed. Not only was the quantity and the taste suffering, but they raised the price by about $ 3.00. Acceptable if the taste and quantity were still good, but everything suffered from the recent changes at Blue Dahlia. This used to be our favorite date spot, now we probably won’t come back for a while. Such a shame. Don’t expect anything decent for a reasonable price. $ 1.00 per mussel is an oyster price.

Perfect brunch spot! My boyfriend and I shared: Duck pâté bread plate– A little too pricey for a pâté spread. It was about $ 17 and the bread was a bit too spare? Good nonetheless and was a perfect appetizer. Organic egg frittata– Huge and delicious! Where the duck pâté was overpriced, this dish was a bang for your buck. Pesto sauce on top of the frittata was great; and the side of salad and bread was a good balance. With just the two of these, Brian and I were pretty stuffed. We would definitely come back!

Okay, I’ll have to admit that I didn’t actually had anything to eat here except for the peanut butter brownie. However, that didn’t take away from the whole experience! So me and a friend were in Austin, right? And we wanted to catch up with an old friend of mine, right? So, like, I called him up and he was all like, «yo bros! What’s up?!» right? And so we were all like, «duuuude! Let’s grab dinner!!» right? So he recommended this place since it was super close to the hotel and he said it was going to be good, right? So he came and picked us up and off we went. Okay, okay — I’ll stop with the dude and the bros and the right. Anyway, we got to the restaurant and parked on the street(please pay attention to the the meter when you park on the street). We came in and were immediately seated even though the place was semi-packed(This was around 6:30 pm on Tuesday). Our waitresses(yes, we had two since one was in training) were über cute and über friendly. My friends decided to order the chicken stew soup and the four cheese lasagna. I wasn’t too hungry so I thought I was just going to get something light like the croissant. Unfortunately, the flavor I wanted was out, and one of our waitresses told me that the croissant would be left over from breakfast anyway and I’d be better off getting something else. Fine — peanut butter brownie it is! The kitchen knew what’s up because they didn’t take long to prep the food. My brownie came out but it was missing something — ice cream! I asked the waitress to bring out some ice cream, which she did — and nom nom nom. Delicious! If you dine here and you’re wanting some dessert, try it out! As for my friends, the one who ordered the soup couldn’t stop raving about it. As for the lasagna, my other friend also thought that it was so good. The only thing that was stopping him from finishing the whole thing was because it was so heavy. Prices here aren’t too bad either. With the kind of service and food that they had to offer, I would totally come here more if I lived in Austin. Unfortunately I don’t so the only thing I can do is encourage you Austin peeps to check this place out, if you haven’t already.

Oh how I heart thee. One of my favorite places in Austin to get quality food, while not robbing you blind. I recommend the yogurt parfait. It is not something you may normally order because there is so many more delightful things to choose from, however that granola in there is no joke. Just DOIT and thank me later. Everything I had there is awesome, so be sure to go hungry and with people who will let you try their dishes.

A fantastic little French Bistro on the East Side. We love coming here because it’s not only a 3 minute walk from our front door but it is also delicious! Brunch on Sunday here is spectacular. The smell of fresh cappuccinos, the sound of a lovely accordion player on the patio and incredible food to top it off. It’s so easy to sit here for hours. You can picture yourself in the south of France as you eat off of the cheese and meat board. Your cups of coffee will seamlessly turn into glasses of wine in no time. Where’d the day go? It’s been three hours! The bread here is not to be missed. Fresh baguette with butter dipped in your soup, I recommend the smoked salmon tartine as well. Blue Dahlia also has one of the best happy hours in town. $ 11 glasses of wine are $ 5! A massive meat and cheese board only $ 9. Incredible value considering the quality of the food. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and give this place a shot. You will not be dissapointed. Also if you see a little cat around say hello! Her name is Dahlia.

Cute little restaurant with a great ambiance, adorable décor and delicious food. They use local/fresh ingredients and you can absolutely taste the difference. The only reason I took off one star is because I’m not supposed to eat dairy/gluten/eggs(all the good stuff!) and it was a little difficult to find a dish that was mostly veggies and/or meat sans gluten/dairy/eggs. I know this is wildly specific and all the food looked so good, I decided to live life on the edge and eat the most wonderful waffles and tartine known to man.

Was searching for a new brunch place to check out and came across this one on Unilocal and was pleasantly surprised. This was not the buffet-style brunch but rather you order off their menu which had numerous good looking options. I ended up getting the smoked salmon with dill cream cheese on bread and the blueberry blintzes with sweet ricotta and both were great. The salmon didn’t have any bad fishy taste and you could really taste the smokiness. The blintzes were very filling and rich enough that one plate was plenty for two to share. Overall, this place had friendly servers, a good location and table layout, with good food options. Perfect place to meet up and chat. Knocked down to four stars since this place didn’t seem to have any legal parking anywhere so you pretty much have to park illegally close-by and hope you don’t get towed by the time you get out.

I’m giving Blue Dahlia 3 stars because it’s a cute little place and our service was great. However, I left feeling hungry and a little bit robbed. My friend chose this little spot to meet for breakfast and I was excited to try it. However, when we arrived, I realized that I was in trouble! Practically everything on the menu was topped with fresh berries, and as someone who doesn’t like berries(weird, I know), I was feeling a little lost. I asked for the crepes without the berries and when my order arrived, I was surprised at what came out. While it did come with chocolate sauce(I had imagined that the crepes would be stuffed with this or with cream), the sauce was on the side and was thin and bitter. My plain crepes sat on my plate alone, looking very sad, alone, and lifeless. I managed to get some nutella on the side and tried to stuff the crepes with that, but the crepes themselves honestly did not have a good flavor and were rubbery. Based on my berry issue, I just don’t think that I am the right breakfast customer for Blue Dahlia, however, I was very unimpressed with their lack of selection and their crepes.

Checked this place out recently, and the food was pretty good! Fresh, light, but still very filling. The tartines, which are open faced sandwiches, are great. Fucking delicious! If you’re gonna get one, please try the one with the lox. I loved it! They were out of croissants when we got there, so I’m guessing that’s a good sign. I do plan to go there again to try more of their menu, so it’s worth a second(or first) visit!

My favorite restaurant in Austin! I came here around 10AM on a Saturday, and there was no wait at all. You enter the bakery/restaurant and you smell a plethora of breads(carbs galore). It’s a super hip environment, cutely decorated. I suggest you sit in the patio out back if the weather’s nice(which, I mean, its almost always nice in Austin). I’m basic — and I ordered the pumpkin spice latte w/almond milk. Best I’ve ever had and definitely cannot compare to those more basics than I am, that order PSL’s at Starbucks. We got the blueberry blitzes w/sweet ricotta(not too sweet, and all 3 were devoured in minutes) and hummus/avocado tartine(super refreshing, and very fulfilling — a healthy option for sure) for breakfast. I would be super open to trying all the different tartines(i.e. open faced sandwiches) such as the smoked salmon and chicken salad. Everything was delicious, and service was great. This’ll be my first stop next time i’m back in Austin :) What a great way to start off my short weekend trip there. Thank you Blue Dahlia! Make sure to come here for breakfast/brunch to start off your day in Austin. You will be impressed!

One day, I’m going to finish trying the whole menu. This place is perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, or whenever you feel like having a delicious meal. Ambience(4⁄5): I love the tables in front and there’s a back patio with lots of shade. I’m not too crazy about the inside though — it doesn’t really give off a cozy feel and it’s always freezing. Food(5⁄5): I came here once for dinner & once for Happy Hour & their tartines are just mouth-watering delicious Chicken Salad Tartine — my favorite, it has dried cranberries & walnuts on it, light but just enough to fill you up Roasted Turkey Tartine — also with cranberries, it’s good but not as flavorful as the chicken salad tartine Blue Dahlia Brie Tartine — comes with walnuts & jam, it’s delicious if you’re a cheese fan! I thought this made a good appetizer. Smoked Salmon Tartine — all my my friends’ go-to(not mine because I’m not a fish fan) Dessert: Flourless Chocolate Cake — yum! super rich & chocolatey Bread Pudding — OMGJUSTGETITANDYOUWON’T REGRETIT I PROMISE. There’s plenty of street parking and the restaurant doesn’t really get crowded even on a Friday night so you never really have to worry about a wait. This goes on my top 5 favorite Austin restaurants list, for sure.

Always wanted to give this place a try, and wanted to save it for a special occasion because judging from the pictures, it looked pricey. I finally had the chance to come here, after about 15 minutes of finding street parking(gotta love east Austin). My friend and I came around brunch time. We started out with mimosas and got the large size instead which comes in a regular cup. I’d say for $ 4 thats a freaking steal. We both shared the egg frittata with sausage and the smoked salmon tartine. Don’t be fooled by the small size because the egg frittata is surprisingly filling! The smoked salmon tartine was delicious and I crave it often. The dish itself is a perfect light meal. Also the stone platter makes it cuter hah. The ambiance is really Austin-like. Friendly staff and just overall your cute French restaurant. I do suggest sitting outside if the weather is nice. They also have seating behind the restaurant and its soooo pretty! Definitely more intimate than the outside seating in the front. You’ll have better luck finding parking behind the restaurant or on the side instead of the street parking on the front. Overall very affordable and such a neat place. Will definitely be coming back!
