What does it mean when my sister comes in town and we eat every meal out of a trailer? Well, technically this one is a tool shed, but still. Post Austin Fashion Awards and we are starving! Even more than the models we saw sporting some awesome pieces on the runway. After a night of sucking in and smiling for picture after picture we are ready to eat! All dressed up, still in our gowns, we wander over to 9th and Red River to give Austin Daily Press a try. She saw it on The Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race. I try the eggplant, parmesan, mozzarella, and marinara. She goes for the tabasco gyro. With marinara and hot pink lipstick spread across my mouth and cheeks the verdict is in– Best sandwich I’ve ever had! I dove right in! Not only is this one of my fav local places with awesome food, they are quite a friendly trio. I’m looking forward to going back to give some of the other sandwiches a try. Don’t forget to watch them win on The Great Food Truck Race– it airs on sunday nights on TFN.

My new fave for panini sandwiches :) have driven by half a dozen times, and keep reminding myself to stop by. Finally, after the marathon got a chance to try it out :) I was immediately impressed with the scenery, yes! this is a great hidden gem, there is a pleasant trickling creek that runs right behind the seating area. Great location! Now to the food– did not disappoint! We ordered the pastrami-cheddar very tasty, fresh, and oozing cheddar sandwich and also the turkey-bacon panini, very similar to a club but did not disappoint :) The panini bread was delish :-) it was crunchy, flavorful touch to these huge sandwiches. The portion for a small sandwich was HUGE! Also, the sandwiches are playfully wrapped in newspaper, get it genius austin’s daily press !! pardon the pun… Definitely worth a try if you are craving a mouthwatering sandwich ! Cheers !

Another shout-out to the fried bologna! I tried these guys on the Tasty Trailer Tour. I have to say, I was quite surprised at how delicious my sandwich was. I scored a half fried bologna and veggie tortilla soup. The soup was fantastic. But my oooooh and aahhhhhhs went to the sandwich. This baby was slathered with mustard… it was oozing out of my sandwich and all over my hands. The second best part of my experience… sandwiches wrapped in the Onion. Score!

I rolled into the Izzoz Tacos parking lot planning on eating some tacos. Until I saw this new sandwich cart that was handing out free samples in the same lot with a rockin band playing. The free sandwich samples and live music were«Woohoo! As good as it gets!» but I am holding back till I am a paying customer for the full 5 stars. I sampled 2 veggie sandwiches. I liked the Grilled Eggplant with Mozzarella and Marinara better than the Mozz, Tomato and Pesto. The Turkey, Bacon, Cheese and Tomato with a unique Mayo was very good. But, it was the Fried Bologna, Cheddar and spicy mustard that really stood out to me. I LOVED Fried Bologna sandwiches as a teen but have not had one in probably 25 years. I try to eat healthy and probably would have never ordered a Fried Bologna sandwich — but Wow just Wow all the memories that flooded my mind with that sample! I look forward to going back soon and just might order the Fried Bologna. Oh and the bread is fantastic! They use fresh baked French Bread from Phoenicia.
