This is the closest Amy’s to my house, and I can’t complain because usually there isn’t a line here and the ice cream is always the bomb. However sometimes the workers are slow as molasses. My mom and I were the only people in the shop that were ordering ice cream, yet it took about 10 minutes for one of the workers to even come up and take our order. She kind of just stared at us for a while. It was a weird experience. She finally got our order together and it took her a minute or two to figure out how to add up all our stuff. However Amy’s is worth it every time. I will stand for 20 minutes for Mexican Vanilla. In a side note: GETTHEMEXICANVANILLAMARSHMALLOWS! They are the bomb.

We have been frequenting Amy’s for 20yrs now and every time we go there are all sorts of new ice creams. Make sure you try the«adult» flavors that contain alcohol such as Guinness, Rum, etc…21yrs+

Amy’s icecream is always good but the service at this location… um this guy was so fed up with us as soon as we walked in. Amy’s icecream has always left a positive impression but not after coming here!

I love Amy’s Ice Cream, BUT I am not a fan of this location. The staff was rude and it seemed as if the AC wasn’t working, or not on at all. The store is rather small and shouldn’t be difficult to heat/cool. We opted to sit outside instead of sitting inside. The staff seemed rushed and a couple of times one of the young ladies(purple hair) yelled out, «CLOSETHEDOOR!» to anyone who was holding the door open too long. She did explain once that it was to keep the flies out but she did it with such a rude tone. I hope the people who manage this location read this and coach the staff appropriately.

I don’t really understand the ‘Amy’s’ hype, but people go nuts for this stuff. When first moving to Austin, Amy’s was one of those places everyone always told me about and that I must try it. And I did. And I did again. And you get the picture. Yes, it’s ice cream. Yes, it’s good. Don’t get me wrong, I very much enjoy Amy’s ice creams and would certainly go back. I just don’t think it’s as spectacular as everyone makes it out to be. The best part about Amy’s is their rotating flavors, which keep people, like me, wanting to come back to see what’s new. Ice cream is very creamy and, even when lines are long, they seem to move fairly quickly. Good ice cream spot.

The cute atmosphere, unique flavor a, quality ingredients and friendly staff make this place a winner! We were so pleased with our experience. The offering of flavors was great! Oreo Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate, Cinnamon Crunch, etc. I got a coke float with Mexican vanilla ice cream– yum! My fiancé got a fudge sundae with Oreo and peanut butter ice cream– to die for. We will be back!

I’ve heard about this place for a while. Decided to take my kiddos and boyfriend here for birthday treats. He had the small keylime, my son had a small chocolate shake, two of us had a brownie sundae, and one had a strawberry-banana smoothie. It was allllll delicious. We got there after 9pm. There was a line clear out the door and near the road, but it moved very quickly. We have been told we cannot call ourselves Austinites unless we eat Amy’s ice cream, on a pink cow/bull outside of this place. Mission accomplished. Our only complaints were the brownies were a bit hard(to hard to eat with the plastic spoons), and even though there are several signs saying«restrooms» there were none insight. So we quickly finished our treats and ran for the border to potty

My husband and I came here for National Ice Cream Day yesterday while we were visiting Austin. I like the style of the place and how the ice cream servers put their own flare on how they serve your ice cream. I got the sweet cream ice cream with reese’s mix in and it was good. I wish there was more of a variety of flavors. There were two coffee flavors, a few vanilla, and I think a couple of chocolate. They should mix it up more and try not to have multiple vanilla variations on the same day. Next time I would like to try one of their creations — the Salty Dog sounded good with dark chocolate ice cream and sea salt and other goodness.

Date of service: Jan 16&18, 2015 Meal: Dessert, eat in All Ratings out of 10: Quality of food: 9 Food to Spend Value: 8 Quality of Service: 8 Overall Rating: 8 Amy’s Ice Cream is an Austin icon. They were doing the«beat your toppings into your ice cream» thing long before Cold Stone made this mainstream, and the fact that they make their own ice cream and rotate the flavors regularly makes it that much cooler. I was back in Austin for a few days and ended up going twice. As long as you don’t mind dealing with the long lines and the small space inside, Amy’s will not disappoint. There are always lots of flavors to choose from, generally with pretty funny names, and if you aren’t sure about something you can always sample it to ensure you know what you are getting yourself into. There are also a huge number of toppings you can have beat into your ice cream, so the flavor combination possibilities are pretty ridiculous. This particular location is tucked away a bit in the Arboretum area, near the Barnes and Noble store. It is quite small inside, but the good news about ice cream is that people tend to eat it quickly, so tables turn over fast. There is some limited outdoor seating as well, or you can walk to the nearby park area and enjoy your ice cream there. I actually can’t remember which flavors I chose, though both were not the everyday staples. The one pic I took has peanut butter cups beat in, and boy did my ice cream taste delicious. It always amazes me how creamy their ice cream is. It was a very nice way to end the day! There are a number of locations throughout Austin, so if you aren’t close to the Arboretum you can still have the Amy’s experience. This particular location does it well, with great humorous service and delicious ice cream. If you are craving ice cream then you must go to Amy’s. It would be a travesty to your taste buds to deny them such pleasure.

We’ve been to Austin several times just to eat at Amy’s. Their ice cream is good and refreshing. The kids eat their ice cream and go play on the play ground. Seen that there are locations in San Antonio and Houston. Maybe maybe your way up to DFW!

Everyone knows this is the best ice cream in Austin. I had the opportunity to try the Apple Jacks ice cream last night. What happened to my taste buds can hardly be described. Upon my first delicate bite, the flavors burst into my mouth in a wild carnival of delciousness, a revelry on my palate if you will. The taste triggered my brain to immediately release rainbows and spirit animals high into the atmosphere. The Death Star was destroyed, Asgard sounded its trumpets, and Babe herded up all those sheep as the last of the treat was consumed. So yeah, pretty good stuff.

Have you guys tried Coldstone ice-cream? Amy’s has a few very co flavors, like marshmallow and Mozart, and a few really cool creative creations. I tried zebra, which really did look like zebra with super nice marshmallow goodness topping, but I can’t say that it blew my socks off… After hearing and reading all the buzz about lines and awesomeness of their ice-cream I expected a lot more… I expected magic! This shop is pretty cool, open late for those midnight cravings ;)

Good little spot for dessert. A friend and I went here Friday night for the first time. I have been to the other locations in Austin but I was unaware of the Arboretum one. Place isn’t very big but that doesn’t really make or break this place. Overall it’s awesome. You can try as many flavors as you want which is cool and they are more than welcome to give suggestions/help on choices. Everyone here was super nice and accommodating when I was there. I ended up getting the Shiner and I was not let down. I was kind of hesitant trying an icecream that had beer in it, but it was really good. It tasted like vanilla with a very light taste of Shiner. IT was pretty refreshing and I would definitely get that flavor again. This place is way too close to my apartment and I really hope it doesn’t become too much of a habit.

My boyfriend and I were looking for late night dessert on Valentine’s day and found this gem via Unilocal. For starters, the inside of this place is adorable — it’s set up with small circle tables which is perfect for a quite dessert date! My favorite thing about this place by far though were the people — they were very friendly and played along with us when we tried to guess the movie quote on the wall for a free topping later. I also loved the ice cream that we got — Cinnamon Pop Tart! I haven’t seen that flavor anywhere else and I’m not sure why because it’s delicious! I almost wish I had gotten just the ice cream instead of the ice cream sundae since I wasn’t a big fan of the microwaved brownie that was put under the ice cream. I would definitely go back but earlier in the day! They were out of a good bit of stuff since we went rather late on Valentine’s day and I want to try everything out!

We LOVE Amy’s Ice Cream — it’s a serious addiction. We’ve even gone on the tour. We’ve pretty much been to every location, but this one in the Arboretum is our very favorite. It’s open late. Awesome staff, awesome location, and awesome ice cream = LOVE!

I cannot tell you the last time I came into this place. I remember being in high school and make some late hangouts to Amy’s Ice Cream. Even though it was cold today we really wanted some ice cream. I felt like I was having a hot flash so a nice cold treat was totally up my alley. We walked in a there was a short line. We looked at the menu and we were having a hard time deciding. Hubby decided on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle which was Mexican Vanilla, Fudge syrup and Pecan Praline. I got the Fluffer Nutter which was Peanut Butter and Marshmallow Whip ice cream and some Bananas crushed in. The lady that helped us out was super friendly and quick. We were able to snag a table inside and devour ice cream creations. My ice cream was so rich but oh so good. When the weather is nicer and warmer it nice to go down to the park type area or to the cow statues and enjoy your sweet, cold treat.

Nothing beats Free Ice Cream! Amy’s Ice Cream hasn’t always been my go to ice cream shop, but after this visit. It has made me a happy customer sure to return. I just love how generous Amy’s ice cream. I really liked the coffee with heath and the rum raisin minus the raisins flavors. My husband got the teenage mutant ninja turtle combo and he absolutely loved it. The service was friendly and attentive. Even one of the worker came out in a cow costume to greet the kids. It was a fun ice cream experience!

Had high hopes with Amy’s because I had heard great things but ultimately I came away thinking Amy’s is a lot like the Coldstone’s Creamery chain which means the ice cream is fine if you’re absolutely craving it but for the price you could get a more artfully crafted scoop elsewhere. Alas, I’m a tough critic and a major ice cream snob/sweet tooth for life. Amy’s is located in a strip mall with corporate juggernauts like the Cheesecake Factory and so Amy’s fits right in as a family friendly and sanitized version of ice cream. They do the classic mix-in style where they take your toppings and mash it together with spatulas to give you a custom scoop of ice cream. Ultimately the ice cream(strawberry and sweet cream flavors) had a chunkier texture to it and wasn’t as creamy as I had hoped. The strawberries themselves were fine but weren’t juicy or even that sweet. People working here are super nice though and the cashier didn’t charge us for our strawberry topping because it wasn’t mixed in. The major reason I gave 3 stars? I didn’t want to finish the ice cream and I never waste ice cream. Never. Tip: They have lots of wacky things going on here. You can«Guess a movie quote win a free crush’n» which is their special toppings. But the trivia is tough and you can’t use your phone!
