We call it Papa g why would we go back there. The owner is a complete douche bag so it does not matter if the food was good he would make it bad never ever ever going back there even if it was the only food around I would starve firs. The owner is so cheap(in cert your best cheapskate joke here) it is disgusting. He charged us for extra suace for the gyro come on. Like the other reviews he charges for drink refills what is this the 70s or what no reason to go back there for any reason even if the food was something special.

Tasty, tasty gyros! The meat is tender and flavorful. I’m gonna have to come back for the lent fish specials. Go Bears!

They have no high chairs for small children. Their kids meals do not come with a drink so its cheaper just to buy your kids a regular combo meal that comes with a drink and fries. Their patty melts come on white bread instead of rye. Food was OK.

Wow. Reviewers were right about the owner not being a friendly guy! Made us seem like we were bothering him for giving HIM our money. $ 40 worth by the way. To start they seriously need to do something about their venting. I was getting nauseous from the gas stove fumes while eating in the lobby. Food was average greasy spoon affair. Nothing stood out as something to force me to come back. Pricing was average as well BUT they charge for refills on drinks like we’re back in the 70’s or something. Over all I got the feeling this place caters more to the drive thru trucker lunch break crowd. They don’t serve alcohol but if they did it would make more sense as that«type» of place. We won’t be back.

Placed a order over the phone. Was told 15mins to be ready. When I went in, the owner [older man] said he wouldn’t serve ‘my kind’ & didn’t like my attitude. I didn’t realize there was a personality test to get a gyro. They offered no customer service and seemed unhappy. Like they ran all their customers away [the place was empty at lunch] and are left bitter. Try Westside Gyros in Aurora… cheaper and better location.

If you want to overpay for your meal this is the perfect place. I will never eat here again.

I’ve never had a bad meal here. The food is of excellent quality, and the employees friendly. The atmosphere is great. The food might take a little longer than some would like, but I personally believe it is only because they actually take care in preparing it and thus, making it good. The fries are probably the best I have ever had, and I’m not much of a fry person. Their Gyros are definitely worth having. :) Very good, locally owned restaurant.

Papa delivers catered food to my store every week. Quality is always great and the price is very reasonable. He is a great guy and takes care of his customers. The Beef Panini is especially delicious!

I had Papa G’s cater a luncheon meeting I had today. The tray of CHEEZZZYBEEFSWAS A BIGHIT! Most of the attendees did not know where Papa G’s was but they all took a card after eating. George delivered the lunch himself and was quite the personality. Before he left the office he had to go out to the truck and get more business cards. I have also visited the restaurant which is remodeled and clean. He even won an award from the Mayor of Aurora.

Stopped in today with my wife and we had another great lunch! I had the Famous Cheezy Beef and my wife had the gyros plate. We shared a plate of fries with a cheese cup. The Cheezy Beef was VERYGOOD! My favorite part was how rich and savory the broth was. The bread, cheese, and peppers all complimented the beef for an enjoyable experience. My only regret is that I ate it too fast :( The Gyros my wife had were also very good and we shared a giant order of fries. Love the food, the ambiance, and the owner has always been very nice to us on each visit. We will return and the next time I will try the Italian beef panini.

My wife and I call this place angry beef. Solid beef\hotdog place but the owner is kind of a dick. But if I had to deal with some of the rifraf in A town everyday I’d be a dick too

I payed how much more for Garlic Bread Cheesy beef! Anyway it I couldn’t taste it! Overall I wasn’t very impressed with the food quality or quantity! The wife’s Gyro was very small and unflavorful! I’ve had way better and more for cheaper! To the people who said this place was good or great you have been lead astray and very misinformed! Papa g’s will not be gettin my $$$ again! Note the owner was very paranoid he was watching us like a hawk like we were gonna steal something and yelled at my wife for leaving the ketchup bottle on our table. Very disappointing

It’s good, straight-forward Italian beef. With a healthy side of Urlacher obsession.

I happen to be passing by this place and my stomach was all like«I’m hungry!» It makes me a little nervous when I didn’t Unilocal prior to trying a new place, but you gotta take chances. So I turned around and went back. If I could go back in time, I would have just kept driving. However, I wasn’t driving a Delorean and this is what transpired. They have a small parking lot, but there were plenty of spots open. I went inside to examine the menu in front of the counter, at an obvious menu-examining distance. The guy behind the counter stared me down and I felt the pressure. I thought I would make it explicit, «I’m going to need a minute.» He just stared back blankly and I returned to looking at their menu. There were tons of options and they all sounded good. When I was ready, I stepped up and ordered a «famous»(most likely self proclaimed) cheezy beef sandwich(with a z… should have know better) and a cup of water. But they didn’t have water or maybe they didn’t have a cup… or maybe they suck and want me to overpay for water in a bottle. Well I never. The«famous» cheezy beef turned out to be a bust. Dry and bland. How can something covered in juice be so dry? By this time, my stomach was like«I’m sorry, please don’t make me eat anymore, I can wait until I get home!» Such a brat. I admired all the Bears memorabilia that’s been put up around the restaurant and was trying to pretend the guy hadn’t just come out from behind the counter, crossed his arms, and was starting at me. Creepy. Time to make like a football and… kickoff.

The only reason I’m not giving this 1 star is because I signed up for it(being tempted by visions of cheese and beef) and the place was clean… and they get a 1. x stars for tons of Bears memorabilia. The restaurant is clean and nice. Bathrooms are a little awkward. The owner was working the register when I came in(this can be a bad thing, but you don’t know till you leave). My party ordered a famous cheezzzy beef and a gyro — add cheese. Price was not great, and no tap water is served here… $ bottled only. Fair enough — hoping for a big portion. We needed a minute and were given an «OK» — but more like«OK… I’ve got better things to do but I’m going to wait for you» in the way that makes you feel rushed. Order came up — beef was not super cheezy, ok flavor, plenty of moisture… but for the price seemed lacking in something(size being the easiest measure). The cheese I ordered on my gyro was a slice of american(Velveeta) placed on it just before serving. For $ 0.45c I kind of expected nacho or provolone or something nicer(I guess I’ve been spoiled). The price of the single gyro was a little high… the plate would be more reasonable but I didn’t have the ability to transport leftovers. There were no napkins on the tray and none to be found out — so when I asked I was a bit surprised to see(again, the owner) 4 napkins counted out for me. We are talking dairy queen sized disintegrating napkins — not gonna cut it for a beef. Yes, I hate when you ask for a packet of katsup and wind up with a handful, but just put out a darn napkin dispenser! There are signs all over the restaurant saying the usual funnies about how your mom doesn’t work there and clean up after yourself. While I always clean up after myself and would normally take these light hearted I think they were truth-forward(and ergo took them as a negative) based on the vibes I was getting. Trust me guy, the sign isn’t going to stop anybody. I headed to the bathroom to wash up and when I came back the owner was hanging out and asked nicely if we needed anything else, but apparently he stared down my girlfriend the whole time I was in the bathroom and I took it more like«are you done yet? I wanna leave». I was having a good day, but both my girlfriend and I were put off by the attitude. Something like we should be so lucky to enjoy the slightly overpriced very mediocre food. Nothing blatantly negative, but not a single reason for me to go back.

I had chosen this location to go to for Free Gyro day but they were no very nice at all. I don’t know about the food because I didn’t get to try any. My coupon was not in color so they would not accept it. It didn’t even say anything on the coupon that it had to be in color. I don’t think I will be going there again. It is to far and not worth the time.

Best italian beef ever! No joke. Portillo’s dipped beef comes in second, but Portillos beefs sometimes have that old meat taste that bad beefs have. There is no third. I have never had a good beef besides these two places — the famous Johnny’s in Elmwood Park was garbage in comparison. I once bought a bucket of Papa G’s beef and brought it down to St. Louis to share with my friends there that have never had a beef(Italian beef is a Chicago thing). They acted like they were eating gold. They begged me to bring back more. Thank you Chicago Italians for the Italian beef and Papa G’s for perfecting it. Cheesy beef is great; but you may regret it later if your plumbing works like mine does. Fries are good too. Service feels more east coast, but these guys serve factory and service workers day in and out so it fits. What it comes down to is 5 stars just for the beef — the beef standard.

Awesome cheezy beef! I love the greek salad with the feta cheese. The place is always EXTREMELY clean. Prices are reasonable. Portions are good. Great soups when the weather is cold, the chilli is tasty. Get a garlic toast while you are at it! The owner, George, very friendly. A touch you dont see much in small stablishments like this one.
