Northern Mattress & Furniture 1st

I came to this store with my husband as our first stop on a mattress buying mission. The sales person we came into contact with on our first visit was super knowledgeable, not pushy at all, and did not as priority steer us toward the most expensive thing in the store right off the bat. She was also super nice and understanding when we said we wanted to check out some other places– the only thing she made sure we knew as we made our way to leave was that Northern Mattress is a small, family-​owned, Maine-​based business. I’m glad she told me that because it resonated as I went to a big box store and ended up feeling like I was being taken advantage of and highly pressured. After narrowly making our way out of the bigger national chain store without being pretty much forced into a hugely expensive sale, we went back to Northern Mattress. This time we had a different sales person than the first one we’d run into. She was pretty good too, though not quite as knowledgeable as the first woman we’d made contact with. Even with that said, it was again a case of being steered toward beds that were made for the aches and pains we were describing not just beds that were super expensive. We made a choice and were approved for financing. After coming home and doing more research on the bed we’d chosen we decided we wanted a different bed instead and went back to Northern Mattress where they changed our order with no hassle at all, and where they allowed us to move around the store with no high pressure salesperson stalking our every move. In the end we chose to purchase a bed and a piece of living room furniture. We got both the bed and the other furniture for less $$ than just the bed was going to cost us at the other store. I feel way more at peace about this purchase than I would have buying from a big, cold chain store. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an affordable, quality bed, and for a buying experience that doesn’t leave you feeling pressured in the least.
