My forays into fast food are usually limited to breakfast. This Krystal’s is fast, the service is friendly and the food is good.
I’ve tried all the ‘Scramblers’ (breakfast in a cup, what’s not to like), but my favorite by far is the Sausage Gravy Scrambler. It is consistently outstanding and highly recommended.

They tasted pretty good. But you deusches that said they taste like white castles are right. If you do your homework they are. White castles came first and these are based off them. White castles are better of a food that makes your gut suffer but this is your only choice past the Mississippi. So deal with it and get off your high horse. So get drunk and eat some cause it’s what you want.

I get hit or miss service here. I think it depends on the shift honestly because when I’m here around lunchtime, my fries are cold and the chili is thick and too salty. I really only do the White Castle of the South when I’m in the mood for a Coke Icee ’cause there’s something really magical about them.
The burgers are okay but I seriously don’t understand the obsession with putting mustard on everything down here. And the chicken burgers? Dried and crunchy the numerous times I’ve given them a shot. The buns have an oddly hard shell on the sometimes and I can tell they’d sitting out for awhile when I order these things at night.
I wish they’d up the quality of their burgers ’cause it’s got a lot of potential but as long as they keep selling Icees, I’ll be a reluctant regular.

I come here after 1 a.m. mostly, like last night. I get hungry a lot of times late at night and this place helps my cravings. I come here often and never had a problem with the service here. Sometimes it’s really crowded but the employees handle it well. I have several favorites here. I go back and forth as far as what I eat all the time. One day it will be cheese Krystals, another it might be the Chiks, or Chili Cheese pups. Whatever it is, it’s hot and fresh. I’m mad that they discontinued the Spicy Chiks, those were my absolute favorite!!! Maybe they will bring them back one day. I also loved the waffle fries when they had them. They had just the right amount of firmness to them. The tea is also really good here. They have a new formula and it’s great. So when the hunger monster attacks me at night this place will come to the rescue!!!

I grew up with them!
There’s nothing comparable like those few bites of fluffy buns soaked with beef juices and steamed onions! … and hot fries!
(Yes, I’ve experienced White Castles too… but just remember them being greasy… and always sloppy/​messy constructed burgers when getting out of their boxes, but that’s the only option in the north — «…when in Rome…») ;)
OH… I noticed Krystal recently introduced a perfect $ 2.99 special — 3 burgers/​fries/​drink!
and OPEN 24 hours!
Ever get up at 3 a.m. and wanted a burger??? Well, Krystal was always my answer growing up!
For a fast food chain, this «ain’t» bad!
Ambience — A
(Not bad for fast food, they’ve remodeled and cleaned up their act by keeping the dining room /​bathrooms clean!)
SERVICE — A
(I give this A rating as I recently visiting Augusta and was going every nite and the friendly server on the call box recognized my voice and knew immediately what I wanted when I ordered — so drinks and sauces were always ready when checking out)
FOOD — A
(Since lines were long, that meant most burgers were coming off the grill and fries were HOT… You either LOVE them or HATE them… it’s all LOVE LOVE LOVE for me)

«Did you fart? It smells like farts in here.» and «It tastes like a fart in my mouth.» are some of the things you may hear if you took my wife to White Castle.
Luckily, this is not White Castle. While often referred to as the White Castle of the South, I do not believe this to be the case. Krystal does offer similar sized burgers, however this is the only thing they have in common. Krystal burgers are of a much better quality with much less grease, and their cheeseburgers come with pickles and mustard, which is not the case with a White Castle burger. They also offer a much larger selection of food which includes pups and chicken items.
While I find their fries to be a higher quality than that of White Castle, they don’t offer glorious sides such as chicken rings or cheese sticks. I have to say, though my wife loves it — I am a little sad that there is a lack of grease and a much higher ratio of meat on the buns, causing me to give them one less star than I would have at White Castle.
Even though they are constantly compared to White Castle, I do think they are in a category all their own and have found myself craving them on a consistent basis. I like having them around — in the absence of White Castle.
…heck, for that — I think I will give them one more star… because I’ve just started craving them right now and I think I might go get some.
