definitely the most authentic Chinese buffet food in Augusta. and the cutest spot to eat if you are in to cozy, romantic and traditional family owned places. It is hidden away from everything, so you may have to gps your way there, but it’s worth the hunt if you are looking for SOMETHINGELSE.

Ok, here’s my dilemma!!! I like chinese buffets and it’s hard to find good ones nowadays. So when I find a good one they either close down or turn into a regular chinese restaurant where you just order food off of the menu. The one I had been recently patronizing abruptly closed with no explanation. So wanting to eat at a chinese buffet, I chose to dine at Kong Wah. I use to go here years ago, and as I remember the food was good but very high in MSG. Sometimes I would leave there after eating and my head would be swimming and I would be dizzy. So I think that’s why I stopped eating there. This was the 90s, and I know they have changed management several times since then. So why not give Kong Wah another shot. As I entered the parking lot, there were only two cars in the parking lot. That should have been a sign. But I decided to try my luck anyway. As I entered the restaurant there were only two tables occupied and someone getting takeout. There was only two bars of actual food and the other two were dessert and a salad bar. They also had a hibachi bar. Out of all the food on the bar there was about 40 items. There were several staples such as Pepper Steak, egg rolls, chicken wings, fried rice, peanut chicken, lo mein, and chicken and broccoli. The other stuff I don’t eat anyway. The items I had were just ok. They weren’t the worse I had and definitely not the best. The chicken wings were so small I think it was a wingette or a wing of a wing. My pinky finger was two times bigger than those wings. I would call those one bite wings. I wouldn’t have serve those small wings for anyone to eat. I would be ashamed. So I was done with that and wanted to try a hibachi plate. There was a pretty decent assortment on that bar. Shrimp, beef, onions, mushrooms, cabbage, broccoli, and a few other things I can’t quite remember. As I was getting my plate filled I notice there was not a cook in sight. It took him about 5 minutes to come back, and on top of that the grill was not even on. So I had to wait for the grill to warm up to get my food cooked. Finally, my food was cooked. It wasn’t bad at all. I think he used a little too much soy sauce though but it was edible. I also had honey dew melon and grapes. They were very good and sweet. The wait staff was one older Asian lady and I didn’t have a problem with her service at all. Everything I asked for, it was brought to me. The price was about $ 11 including the drink. I thought that was a bit pricey due to the fact that there wasn’t many main items available. So, I think this restaurant has taken a turn for the worse. The place is ran down and almost the same as it was in the 90s and that is totally unexceptable. If the menu was freshened up and the establishment giving a major face lift I think it will be hard to resist this place. I also think they were kind of short staffed too. If they make those minor improvements business will be booming for them. If not, I see them being stuck in the same predictament. Well at least I didn’t get woozy again from eating here.
