Clean and friendly atmosphere. Stopped in for coffee and had a grilled cinnamon roll and fruit cup which was incredible! Wifi available and open clean area to take a break and get through emails before hitting the road again. New favorite place in Auburn MA!

My wife and I found out about this place on Unilocal. We where looking for a breakfast place while running early errands in Auburn. We are so impressed. It was a Saturday morning, place was half full and kept slowly filling until every seat was filled. The staff is so friendly and it didn’t slow them down at all the busier they got! Team work and knowledge of menu was awesome. I ordered stuffed french toast special, it was wife ordered her standard cheese omelet and toast. That was done well. Potatoes where good, but I would’ve liked more. What a great diner!

One of the things I missed most about moving from CT was not having a diner on every corner. Thank goodness I live right near the Coffee Mug! My wife and I love this place for a Sunday breakfast. It’s a bit small but the food and service make it all worth it. The coffee is always fresh and for around $ 15 the two of us get huge plates of eggs, home fries, sausage and toast. You really can’t go wrong here.

Every time I go I get a special, my favorite so far has been the Banana Nut French Toast. But the restaurant is simple with a nice amount of seating. Nice laminated menus that are aren’t humongously large but with plenty of options. It is sort of cold inside but it’s probably so it doesn’t become boiling hot because of the stove, the waitress was sort of slow but there was only one so its totally fine. The food comes out fast which is appreciated, and you seat yourselves which I didn’t know and stood there like an idiot the first time but the food was worth it.

Ok I just went here today with my 2 sons ages 16 and 7 and upon walking into the place there was nobody to seat us. we had to wait for our own table and then go sit at it after the other people left with dirty dishes and all in front of us. I had to tell the bus man 2 times that they were not my dishes and was waiting for the table to get cleared off so I could order. He took a couple of plates and came back for the rest after about 5 minutes. 5 minutes after that a second woman came and wiped down the table again and left. It took roughly another 15 minutes to get our order in. Other people across from us got there same time as we did and had their table cleaned off and meals served well before us and were eating while we were still waiting for our food. It took about 40 minutes to get our breakfast and had to take it to go as we needed to be somewhere. The floor was rather dirty and there was a child eating nearby throwing pieces of his food everywhere. parents seemed to not care. I really do not understand about all the rave reviews as when I read them I thought I was going to a goldmine of a place. Menus on table were extremely dirty and when I used the restroom the door seemed like it needed immediate replacing. I was very disappointed and will not return!

Was in the Auburn, MA area today on business and found this little gem of a place for breakfast. I travel all over this great country and have an opportunity to sample some of the best meals in some of the finest restaurants in the land. The breakfast I had today at The Coffee Mug was one of the best I’ve ever had.(Eggs Benedict with two pieces of French Toast). Just by looking at the steaming hot food delivered by my waitress I could tell it was going to be delicious. Can’t wait to come back the next time I’m in the area and try their pancakes! If any of the stars of the Food Channel are looking for the next great restaurant to shoot their show I would strongly suggest they start here.

The food was ok! The dining room was dirty. Trash on the floor. Menus had syrup on them. Service could have been better. First time customer. Will not return.

My husband and I come here for breakfast quite often. I absolutely love the Blackstone Benedict. It’s eggs Bennie without the ham, but with a big slice of tomato and pile of fresh spinach under the perfectly poached egg. We’ve always received great service and the prices are some of the best I’ve seen. Excellent value for quality of food. $ 5.75 for bacon and eggs, 7.25 for three different or traditional eggs Benedict. The owner is usually behind the counter and finds her way around periodically to assess your eating experience. She’s very appreciative of her clients, and it shows.

I really don’t like to leave bad reviews but I also don’t like to eat bad breakfast either. There’s a huge whiff of hot dogs surrounding this place, but no dogs in sight — only Dawgs. Service? well idk what to rate it because i didn’t get much. Food? Poached and hardboiled are synonyms here and home fries are unflavored, so if u like that type of breakfast, go here

AMAZINGFOOD!!! My fake husband(best friend) and I go here for breakfast once a week, the first time I went I had a special that needs to be a staple on the menu it was so amazing 2 scrambled eggs, home fries, a biscut that was ½ of the entire plate covered in sausage gravy, this breakfast was only 6.95 it was fresh, home made, and so good. My friends breakfast was pancakes they were fresh mixed, fluffy and covered in the most amazing smelling fruit you could tell it was fresh The woman who was cooking was the nicest lady ever, she came over when we had finished eating to check in and make sure we liked the food and get my opinion on the sausage gravy she told me about how she made it and asked my take on it, a few things about this were great first she reminded me of mom cooking back there while talking to customers, second she waited until we had finished eating to check in there was none of that being cornered and forced into a conversation while your mouth is full, and she really cared if I enjoyed it and what I thought about the food. the entire experience was really nice we went back today and had omlets again super nice people amazing food for the right prices. Its a truly sad thing that these kind of places are so far and few between, but we are lucky to have The Coffee Mug and I can’t wait to go back. Thank you so much for being great

FANTASTICSERVICE! Excellent Diner! My husband and I came here today, I love diners for breakfast food and coffee. I’m a very picky coffee drinker and the coffee here was freshly made and delicious! I definitely had to refill. The plates my husband I got were large portions and everything was tasty and good quality. It’s a very cute little dinner, very clean and nice. My husband and I are Muslim and are often discriminated against in diners(which is unfortunate that we never know what to expect). The people here treated us like family! The girls were all extremely sweet and genuine. The service was beyond excellent. Honestly the service was one of the best I’ve ever experienced and that compares it to 5 star restaurants and all different kinds of diners. My husband and I were treated so well by all the lovely ladies here. We are from New York but will definitely come back to this diner anytime we are in the area. The genuine kindness and fantastic, quick service definitely won us over. And yes, that freshly made coffee helped for sure :-)

Had breakfast here on a Sunday, early. We needed a place for a quick bite, and arrived about 7:30AM. It was quiet and we sat at the counter. Had a western omelet sandwich on pumpernickel and dining partner had a ham and cheese omelett with home fries. The food was great, hot and quick. The waitress said that if we had arrived later, when church gets out, it is a half hour wait on Sunday morning. There were more creative things available on the menu — lots of interesting omelet combinations especially. I definitely plan to go back and try them! It is worth a stop.

First off, Cash Only. Not a huge deal, many places like this are the same way. Being called ‘the Coffee Mug’ is inviting. It has its own parking lot and the place can house about 20 – 30 people comfortably. The coffee is decent… and most everything I’ve ordered is fine. I don’t think I’ve had anything absolutely outstanding here… but certainly suffices for an adequate breakfast. The prices are reasonable… I can travel to a diner I recently reviewed not too far away in Oxford and get about two+ times more food easy… but for the locale to where I am living currently, it’s a better option than McDonald’s. That said, there isn’t much competition that I’m aware of for ‘breakfast’, but I will keep looking. This place is worth the try if you’re in the area. I will probably be back… if I don’t feel like driving around.

Stopped in here on a Tuesday morning for breakfast and unfortunately this visit did not go as well as my first one. I had The Big 2. No complaints, the food tasted great, eggs cooked, but not over cooked, the pancakes were fluffy and moist. The service, meh. My server came right over to take my order, the food came fairly quickly. Then nothing. I didn’t see her again till I had finished my food. She never came to check on me or see if I needed a refill. Just brought the check and ran. Not sure what the deal was as it wasn’t overly busy. Perhaps she was to busy hanging out at the counter talking with the rest of the help. Either way, I think I’ll be going somewhere else next time I’m looking for breakfast in the area.

I’ve been here just twice(despite growing up in Auburn) and its an awesome little gem. Is it the best breakfast place on Earth? No, but it’s pretty darn good. I ordered the Big 2 last night. 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and 2 French Toast, plus a coffee. It came to about $ 9.50 plus tip. I get my eggs scrambled, so nothing too fancy, but came out good. Not runny. French toast was awesome. The service was quick and friendly. Definitely recommend it!

Nice little place for breakfast. Reasonable prices. Good daily specials. Fast, friendly service. Looks like they no longer accept credit cards. I’m pretty sure they used to. And they have a big sign on the door that they are not accepting the Entertainment Book coupons.
