Helpful and knowledgeable. Suprised by the low ratings. Great location and quick turn around service. Both owners were friendly and helpful. Would do future business here!

My hiking boots have shoelace hooks and one of the rivets that hold the hooks on fell off. I had some business in Auburn so I popped into the shoe repair on Monday at 9am to see if they could reattach it. The person behind the counter told me that it would be done on Thursday. Even though I thought this was a little excessive just to reattach a shoelace hook I left the boots since I needed to pop back up to Auburn later in the well anyway. Thursday comes and goes with no phone call that they are ready. My wife drives up to to pick then up of Friday only to be told that they might be done later in the day. When I called in to ask why the boys went done the lady told me that if they were dropped off this week they wouldn’t be done till next week. Why would it take a week to fix a single rivet? That’s one of those jobs you do while you’re switching between big jobs, quick easy money. Needless to say we got the boots back unfinished and we’ll take them somewhere else. To sum it up. They weren’t friendly when we came in or called. The problem was going to take far too long for a very minor correction. Failed to live up to their self assigned due date. Failed to call to inform that they were missing their due date.

I agree that Auburn is lucky to have a leather goods shop, specializing in leather repairs. But their service is rather shoddy because the woman who runs the place can’t do her sewing when customers keep coming into the shop. Because she was understaffed, my daughter had to wait two hours for a promised item, when it was supposed to take less than one hour. If they had more staffing, this kind of problem would have been avoided.

Cobblers aren’t something you see much of anymore so it’s refreshing to know that Auburn still has a great shoe repair store. Located near Edelweiss in Downtown Auburn, Shoe Fix Express also offers leather repairs. Recently when my daughter had a school project that required small strips of leather, they had it. Nice folks, good store and a worthy profession.
