The outside patio is great, good lighting, lots of space and several TV’s. The service was good but very slow… slow like order your next drink when your first one is delivered. The food was mediocre at best. I had the shrimp tacos without cheese. Each taco had about 4 tiny fried shrimp on about a tablespoon of wilted shredded cabbage. Great beer selection. I was just vising so I am glad I don’t have to decide if I want to go back.

Awful… Truly horrible. We ordered bottles of wine they weren’t served. I ordered shrimp and grits that were very soupy. My husband ordered a steak. The steak was $ 27 and underwhelming. I had to get up and order more drinks from the bar because our server was non existent. I understand there is little competition in a small town like Auburn but this was next level bad.

Didn’t get any food, but went for drinks a few times. Their taps were out of order at the time, so no word on their beers. However, they are capable of making decent drinks, including those you couldn’t normally get at a bar in Auburn(like a mojito)

Had the Asian shrimp tacos with side of veggies. Was very disappointed! The shrimp were over cooked and unrecognizable! The vegetables were so over seasoned that I could not eat them! I told the waiter about the veggies & he laughed! No credit offered, no Can I get you another? I won’t be back!

Visited Auburn for the first time and stumbled upon LiveOaks. Enjoyed the beautiful patio on a warm night and had amazing cocktails. The waitress had awesome recommendations and the food was incredible! Will definitely come back!

The space is pretty amazing. The outside bar area screams fun — almost like a beach bar with a mixture of covered and open areas for drinks and dining. The inside dining area was charming and really comfortable. Despite the heavy crowd, the service was good. I went with a chicken pasta dish that mentioned truffles in the name. Honestly, I never had even the remotest hint of truffles or truffle oil. Still, it was good. Oh, get the fried mac and cheese appetizer. You’ll thank me later. ;)

We stopped by LiveOaks after a football game in Auburn and we loved it! The outdoor patio is huge and so much fun. The wait was pretty long so we sat inside. The indoor eating area is pretty small so I’m sure it gets pretty busy as well. A group of 4 of us decided to share 4 different appetizers: the avocado, mac and cheese bites, fried cauliflower, and nachos. The Mac and Cheese bites were BYFAR the best and make sure you try them with the jalapeño honey mustard. Mmmmm my mouth is watering just thinking about it. If you’re in the mood, and you should be, try out some of their cocktails. The lemonade one was my favorite!

Cool outdoor seating area/patio. Great outdoor bar. The food was ok at best. We tried the fried cauliflower for an app, it was very bland. I had the southern Chicken Cordon(sp) blue. It was pretty good, but nothing to rave about. My wife had the black and blue salad. It was ok, but needed something more(tomato, etc) It was just a bed of greens with steak and blue cheese crumble… again, not bad, just needed something more. I would definitely go back to hangout at the bar for happy hour.

Don’t do it! Beautiful place and great atmosphere. Food is lacking in quantity. Had to go to Krystal after we left. I ordered 1 martini and was charged for 2. My husband didn’t realize I only had one until I asked him about the check when we got home. Service was slow and waitress was not knowledgeable about the menu. Don’t waste your time. Go to Acre or Amsterdam Café.

The service and selection leave some to be desired. Neither is bad, but both times I have been here, the service has been slow and the selection of beer less than stellar… especially for a place that seems to advertise a decent beer selection. I enjoyed my salmon dinner and have never had a problem with the food. The fried mac and cheese and spinach dip are both delicious as well. I just feel that a place with a craft bar vibe and a beer tap fountain should have more than 8 beers on tap(at least 2 of them tapped out). And also, despite having a friendly wait staff, I believe they may be understaffed and it shows.

Update: now that they have their hours figured out, great place to go. Next time the hound tells you it will be 2 hours for a party of two, head on over to live oaks. Good food. Good drinks. Nice atmosphere. In fact, bring large parties here first! They sat my table of 7 instantly on graduation weekend(I checked in at the hound first at 11am, told me it would be 2pm before we got a table). Their food still has a little way to go I think. But they are definitely in the top 3 for dining options walkable to downtown. First review: Just don’t trust their hours. Made special plans to come here based on the hours posted on their website. Said they were open until 10. Showed up at 9 pm and we were turned away. Pretty disappointing. Surely if a manager was present they wouldn’t turn away customers an hour before closing?

Went there last month for beer and food. Atmosphere is good, BUT this place is so busy, over crowd. Location is great. I got under cooked tuna, i didn’t see options for types of cooking in menu neither waitress mentioned about it. Beer is expensive, food is expensive and portions is little…

Hard to get a table and once you do, good luck getting service. Expensive drinks & a crappy view. Been twice now & prob won’t give it another try anytime soon.

While their atmosphere is wonderful, I have come here on two occasions and just left thinking«meh, twas alright.» For a dinner, the party seemed to have been too large for the waiters to really handle. The wait for drinks took much longer than it should have. Multiple times in the party were people saying«I’m thirsty… where is my drink?» after the order has already been taken. To eat I had the chicken caesar salad. The portion was just enough for an entrée, and it was quite delicious, but for the pricing of the food versus what was available on the menu, I would say this establishment is quite on the pricey side for what it has to offer. My second visit was just for some late night drinks with some friends now that the bar has been opened outside. It was a lovely night to sit outside and the bartenders were really flexible with last call and waiting until the guests were finished. Also, while drinking, they took the time to really see what more they could offer you, expanding your beer horizons to sample the taste of the local brewery. Attentive and friendly — I’ll give them that!

My friend and I popped over for an app and drinks after shopping in downtown Auburn. It was a super-sunny, warm day. Perfect for a patio. We were greeted by an enthusiastic bar staff. We ordered a bottle of Rose and the chicken & sausage skewers(most random order, ever, I know). The place is casual, so if your’e sitting outside, don’t expect to get your Rose in a champagne flute. We were drinking it out of Solo cups like total ballers. The bar is nice. The only complaint I have is that the bar stools are awkwardly high for a short girl in a dress. Not technically a complaint because there are several seating options around(tables with umbrellas); they were just full when we arrived. The menu looked tasty. Lots of fun apps to choose from if you want to keep it simple and come out for a few drinks and socializing.

We are locals and decided to try the new place in town. I must say that LiveOaks exceeded our expectations. We went primarily for the Crabcakes and they were splendid! We are Crabcakes snobs and these were some of the best we’ve had. We’ve been spoiled by DC Crabcakes and it’s nice to have a local spot. My husband got the Tuna and it was good, but he raved about the potato cake. Our waiter, Cooper, was excellent! We will definitely be back.

This is my new favorite place in Auburn, solely because of the patio and older-crowd appeal. There is room for improvement, however; there’s plenty of room on the patio for more tables, and some high-top tables for standing and mingling instead of having to stay at a table would be nice. Tony the bartender is super friendly and attentive but some of the others were just straight up oblivious to customers. One night in which we ordered drinks at the bar while waiting for a table and then sat to eat, trying to transfer our bar tab was a mess. Food: pricey but everything we had was good(the avocado– although it’s more of a dip than what we expected, the pork nachos, the black bean burger, and the pesto pasta). Add a weekend brunch, please!

Really disappointing experience. Patio was closed(?) which meant getting a draft beer was not an option apparently. The bartender seemed uninterested in serving our party and when asked about the about the draft situation deferred to the bar manager. She was quite rude, and rather than being apologetic about the crumby set up of the inside/outside bar situation, was condescending and bitchy. Though they did have a limited(overly priced) bottled selection, our party chose to take our business elsewhere after being treated with disrespect. As the target audience of an upper-scale bar in a college town I was very excited for this place to open, and then terribly disappointed at how they chose to conduct business and treat their patrons.

Mac & Cheese Bites were delicious. They were great to share. 4 bites. I ordered the Herb-Crusted Porkchop. Porkchop was huge and it came over amazing roasted potatoes. My husband ordered the Taco Burger. I had a bite and it was definitely a meal I would return to Live Oaks to order. We were surprised and amazed at the great service and food the place has with only 5 days of being open for business.
