I had searched high and low for gluten free cupcakes in Opelika. I still don’t think they exist. But I was so glad to find that Gigi’s not only has gluten free, but they also have a variety… every day! It’s worth the drive to Auburn just for cupcakes.

I’m a super huge fan of anything sweet, especially cupcakes. This used to be my favorite sweet tooth spot, but lately the cupcakes lack luster. They’re dry, minimal flavor, and the icing is beginning to get a sugar grind to it. It really stinks because Gigi’s is supposed to be the exact opposite of that. I will say the people that work there are delightful, but it won’t make me buy a cupcake that tastes like week old store bought cake.

Service was awesome, they are partnering with USATH to help raise funds in Auburn, which makes this place awesome no matter what. The cupcakes were good; I didn’t find them taste bud exploding but overall they hit the sweet spot. The young lady behind the counter was super nice and helpful and patient and even posed for a pic with us.

So sweet! The frosting was 2x the cake amount, which is my favorite type… but probaly not for everyone. The frosting was super sweet and buttery, and the cake part was awesome and moist. Same prices as in philly though…$ 3.25. So other than the price this was a great place to visit for a sweet tooth craving! PS. Must try the M&M cookie sandwich with green frosting! It tasted just like a cake!!! So amazing!!! But try splitting it with a few people to avoid a sugar coma…

The cupcakes are delicious but as others have said, over iced. However, I think their shining glory is the chocolate cheesecake cupcake. It’s literally a delicious miniature cheesecake. J’adore! Atmosphere is casual… very typical southern middle class woman kind of place. Very adorable shop surrounded by boutiques and other AUburn staples like Toomer’s. And if you join their rewards program, you get a free cupcake on your birthday and other offers throughout the month.

Great Location. Great Staff. Cupcakes? Not so much. They are overpriced and are not really what you’d expect out of a $ 3.50 cupcake. The flavors in most of them were quite bland. The cupcakes themselves LOOK amazing but we all know that looks can be deceiving. The first time I came here I had this initial opinion but I went back a 2nd time to get other types of cupcakes they had and.nope.still pretty mediocre. First of all the cupcakes have WAY too much icing on it and the rest of the cupcake is really dry and kinda tasteless. Judging from my opinion and the other reviews I see here I’d really hope Gigi’s notices this and make some changes to their recipes for their sake.

My opinion of the cupcake is still the same. Too much icing, the cakes are not moist and it is really hard to detect the flavors they are supposed to be. However, I love the new location downtown. It has a lot more sitting space and it is ultra cute. I’ve already been there three times and I don’t even love the cupcakes. Oh well :)
