A great local spot. Family run forever. They roast their own beans. The coffee is pretty good! A cute little place to meet up and chat with a friend.

We felt this place was a wonderful find! We stopped for coffee and breakfast burritos on our way home from Truckee to Napa. The burritos were delicious and they have many ingredients options to choose from. The place is very clean and the staff was very friendly. Our food came fast and we were allowed to have our little dog in the open patio area. It appeared to be a nice locals hangout from hearing a lot first name greetings. Give them a try!

We usually visit a few times a week. I love that they roast their own beans… mmmmm so good. I always order the same thing, just a boring hazelnut latte. However, on the few occasions that I have branched out, I have been impressed. Everything is good. Bonus: they have a red telephone booth that you can sit in. It’s awesome.

Great coffee with several dairy free alternatives. Yummy pastries along with plenty of seating. Can get busy around noon with high schoolers but still a great place to stop for coffee and a snack.

Really great coffee. Stopped in while visiting Auburn on a business trip and was totally amazed by the flavor of the coffee, it is delicious. I only drink black coffee. Hands down the best coffee.

I’ve been coming here for over 17 years and they have never let me down! An array of coffees to choose from, cute girls working behind the counter, and a lot of character. The best part is that I’m supporting my local community without sacrificing any kind of quality. Thank you Depoe Bay!

I’ve always been a huge fan of Depoe Bay! I believe in supporting locally owned, independent businesses, and I am thrilled to have a local roaster right here in Auburn, so this is where I choose to buy my bulk coffee, usually Sumatra, Kilembe, or Decaf Depoe Bay Organic. Really I’ve never gotten a bad roast here. And I love that they give you a free cup of coffee when you buy a pound! I also love the traditional, homey, coffeeshop atmosphere. I love the flyers at the front that advertise local businesses and events, and I love the local art on the walls. My only complaints are really fairly minor. 1) I don’t prefer their plain coffee. I have no idea how this happens, but I can buy a pound of, say, the Wake Up! blend and make it myself and love it, but if I buy a cup of it in-house, I don’t care for the taste. 2) If any coffee shop in Auburn has the potential to be an evening-time competitor of Starbucks — to be open in the evening, to give another option for Auburn nightlife than a bar or the bowling alley — or even to serve as a bastion of culture and the coffeeshop atmosphere and maybe even hold open mic nights, it’s Depoe Bay. However, they close at 5pm every day except Sunday. I would like to see them one day stay open later. Keep doing what you’re doing, Depoe Bay, and never stop growing! Auburn needs places like you! :-)

On a cold, rainy November Monday, late in the afternoon, we were in search of some coffee. Coming from the Regal Cinema, a Unilocal search came up with Depoe Bay Coffee Company, which looked promising: it wasn’t too far away. Finally finding it, it was fortunately open. We passed by a large roasting machine as we entered — definitely a good sign! In spite of the cold, I could not resist the unique Peanut Butter Mocha blended coffee, a delicious frape. Wow — very tasty! My wife, not a real coffee drinker, usually tries a couple sips of my drink and that’s it. I couldn’t get her to stop this time — she really loved it. Her cranberry scone was also very well done. I really liked the inside vibe of Depoe Bay. The cold day was forgotten amidst a warm, inviting coffeeshop that had a truly large seating area that would put most Bay Area Starbucks to shame. We chose a nice window spot where we could watch the rainy street from our cozy enclave. Just a few blocks from Old Town(or the movies), definitely worth a stop-by.

It was Saturday afternoon, and my eyelids want to take a nap, a nap that I didn’t have time for. Based on a local’s recommendation, we ended up here. What a great place! Large room, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The baristas were friendly and were willing to accommodate my requests. I ordered a small cup of cappuccino, but it came out in a huge mug. This is not an issue for me. I needed me some caffeine so sure, let’s supersize it. I am not a coffee snob by any means, but I have friends who are and they have spoiled me. My Capp passed with flying colors. It was rich and bold, and the foam was thick and tasty. Sugar was definitely optional, and to me that’s a good thing. I wasn’t able to finish the entire mug, but boy, did I perk right up. Highly recommended!

I saw a review that echoes my experience exactly. I checked the date, 2009. Amazing how a place can stay open this long. Maybe people aren’t looking for a good pull. The peanut butter mocha is pure sugar shock, and they sell like hotcakes. But an espresso pull is nonexistent. No timing, no tamping, no skill, nothing put into making a shot. It only takes a few seconds. They have a huge roaster as you come in, the décor is amazing, it looks like Havana in the 50s. Again, why not use that espresso machine to make a good pull? Sandwiches are two pieces of bread and some ingredients. Meh. People are nice, music good, lots of sweets. I guess they keep coming so give ‘em what they want, and nobody wants a good pull.

I had to drop off my mom at an appointment in Auburn on a Tuesday morning, so decided to come here just before 9:30 a.m. It was easy to find free 3-hour parallel parking on the street in Downtown Auburn right by this coffee shop. When I walked in, I noticed immediately how outdated the aesthetics were with the yellow/orange/what-is-that-color walls. The furniture is used and worn and the crowd consists of locals who look like they are here for convenience more than anything else. This morning a group of men in their 50s or 60s are hanging out having conversation and others are getting coffee to-go. My mocha isn’t good. It’s hard to believe that they roast their own beans because even Starbucks tastes better than this(not a complimentary comparison). The vegetarian breakfast burrito was okay, but got cold fast unfortunately. Not a fan, but I’ve definitely had worse.

My family brought me in one day,(it’s their favorite coffee shop in auburn.) I got the blended white mocha and a spinach and parm bagel. I make it a point to stop in at least once a week now! I’ve also tired the soups they have and let me say, BESTTOMATOSOUPIVEEVERHAD! It had a wonderful environment!

Depoe Bay = Delicious! We stopped in for a quick drink while window-shopping around downtown Auburn. Sweet coffee gods, their blended peanut butter mocha drink was SO good! As in I exclaimed out loud how good it was, then B wanted to taste how good it was, but I wouldn’t share a drop because it’s THAT good.(But that’s OK, he was really happy with his hot mocha anyway.) The interior was cozy with a cool soundtrack playing overhead and plenty of seating, including 2 comfy-looking sofas near the front.(And a replica British phonebooth, because, why not?) You can also check out the big shiny equipment they use to do their on-site roasting. All good stuff!

Nice and friendly customer service with one issue that will keep me away. They use styrofoam cups for their coffee. Just an issue I have as a coffee Snob! So for that, I would not recommend.

Great little store off the beaten track. It’s great to see them roasting the beans on premises
