Cute little yarn store! They also sell needlepoint supplies, which(to me) fills a good niche. They carry a good variety of yarn brands(Noro, Malabrigo, and Cascade Yarns just to name a few) and are competitively priced. The owner was friendly and approachable. When I visited I didn’t have much time to browse as extensively as I wanted to(note to self: leave hubby at home next time!) but I plan on visiting Auburn Needleworks again next time I’m in Auburn.

First off I will say that I have going to AN for a couple of years now and do knit there on Thursdays with friends. I love their new location, it is bright, airy and such an open feeling to it compared to the old location which made you feel like you were in a bunker. Lisa, the owner has brought in some different yarns and I love what she has done with the place. The shop offers knitting, temari and now weaving classes. All which are taught by some very knowlegable people. The shop also has a very extensive collection of threads for the Needlepoint gang. A group of ladies meet there each Tuesday and needlepoint. The shop will special order yarn for you as well. So if you are ever in the area, stop in and check out the place. Also if you stop in on a Thursday, join us knitting whether you are knitting, crocheting, doing needlepoint you are most welcome to join us.

Auburn Needleworks is such a lovely store that I drive up monthly from San Francisco to attend their Japanese Temari Ball classes and to pick up supplies for other needlepoint projects. This place is worth the drive for me to attend a unique class not offered anywhere else. What I love about the store: The staff and instructors are knowledgeable, professional, friendly and extremely helpful. The store is stocked with a beautiful variety of yarns. They will special order items not carried in the store. There is a large comfortable room in the back where classes in knitting, needlepoint and Japanese Temari are conducted. Great location in Downtown Auburn with plenty of parking.

A great store with a wide variety of yarn. They don’t have some of my favorites but they have enough of a selection to find something else I love. They are always willing to order anything for you. The staff did not seem super knowledgable, but I was asking hard questions on drape and breathability. They were also very willing to find someone who could answer my questions.

Amazing yarn and needleworks store, in a new, wonderful location in Downtown Auburn. Their selection is extensive and unique. Threads and yarn can get priceyyyy. The lovely ladies that work there are very friendly, and they conduct a variety of knitting classes in a beautiful classroom studio in the back of the store.

this is a really lovely knitting store — it is stuck in a windowless mini-mall basement, but has a huge selection. the prices seem to vary a lot — some things were way cheaper than sf stores, some was more expensive. they have a great collection of sock yarns — tons of self-striping goodies. and they carry manos del uruguay — my favorite yarn — cotton and wool. i attended a yoga training upstairs and so i visited three times, and the third time there was a knitting teacher there who helped me pick out some sock yarn and patterns. whole staff was super nice. i recommend a stop on your way up to tahoe, especially if you go to tahoe to, you know, knit.
