Went to meet friends who have given this place rave reviews. I’m a big fan of hibachi so I was looking forward to this. A previous review had stated that it was cold in there. That is no exaggeration. We were seated at a table near the waitress station and after letting the server and hostess know it was freezing, I looked at the thermostat. 53 degrees inside. Even the manager was wearing his coat. This place gets one star for the environment. Onto the server who was pleasant enough, but non existent when it came to bringing our drinks, taking drink orders or clearing dishes. The chef was a little hostile when it came to clarifying the orders. One person in our party had a combo plate, and when all items weren’t prepared, he was a bit surly when we tried to clarify this. This ended up with us getting another server who actually read the menu to him, and then a heated argument between the server(who wasn’t ours,) the chef and the manager(still in his coat) The manager tried to fix it, but the chef had already walked away from the grille. It wasn’t that big of a deal, but the argument by the staff was unnecessary. By the time all components of the meal were prepared, half of it was ice cold, probably because it was 53 degrees in there. I’m sure there is a better hibachi restaurant besides Sakura that I can spend money at.

Stopped in to grab a quick bite. Atmosphere is clean and new and the generals chicken was amazing. Ordered extra crispy and extra spicy and it came out perfect. Will be going back.

I came to Sakura per a recommendation from friends. I came to sit at the bar where I was told Derek was the best and indeed he lived up to this expectation. I was a little stuck on what to get and by asking me a few questions he recommended the Amazing Tuna. It was out of this world and a roll filled with flavores I’ve never experienced out at sushi and LOVED. Derek’s attentiveness and true care about the customer is far and few between and is something I very much appreciated… Having my second drink delivered as I took the last sip of my wine. I am excited to come back with my BF and do this again. Awesome spot!

We are regular(monthly) customers of Sakura and just had my son’s First Holy Communion celebration there. They very easily accommodated all 30 of us and went out of their way to deliver exceptional service. From the communications we had in advance of our event to the actual day, you could tell they were aiming to please. To top it all off the chefs were thoroughly entertaining and the food was delicious(as usual!). Thank you, Sakura, for helping to make my son’s special day one he will always remember!

Sakura is our go to spot for birthday celebrations and large dinner gatherings. I’m always sure to make reservations because as I said we usually go for the hibachi with a large group. Our last visit we had a reservation for 14 people for 7:00. Two people from our party were late waiting for their babysitter and they would not seat us. I asked them to please not give our table up. I’m sorry but for such a large party I think they could’ve sat us instead of making us all crowd around the bar. So the last two of our party arrived about 20 mins late. I let the host know we were all in attendance and he was not ready for us. Why? I believe it was because he gave our table away. He blamed the people sitting at the table saying they were just sitting there. I told him to maybe let them know that he had a large party waiting and ask if there would be anything else they would need. Well when that party walked out we saw them and recognized them as coming in after us. We were not seated till around 8:30 and they did not take our order till close to 9. For some of our friends this was their first time there. I don’t think they’ll be back. Other than that. The food is good. I order the Sakura chicken and it’s been different as far as the sauce goes every time but good anyway. My husband loves the ocean treasure. Drinks are tasty and strong. Hibachi is fun. Service could be a little better.

Absolutely love this place. Sushi is very tasty. They have several rolls without sauces, which is a sign that they’re fish is fresh. The more sauces, the more ways to disguise older fish. Very expansive menu– they have several traditional US Chinese dishes(sweet and sour chicken, beef teriyaki, etc) in addition to the Japanese fare. They also have hibachi here as well. I haven’t had the hibachi, but everyone who I’ve seen come out has always enjoyed it from their comments. Bar area is large enough too, and they have specials at the bar for food as well. Good staff, and very friendly. Gotta love being able to get sushi and Chinese at one place. Highly recommend their food!

We had a wonderful experience with a party of 33 people. The wait staff was very friendly and the food was absolutely delicious!!! The hibachi show was a blast too! I highly recommend this place.

I am not pleased with the food here. It is bland and overpriced. The service is alright and the lighting is pretty. But there are so many choices for Chinese food here — don’t choose Sakura!

Although I waited a long time for a drink when I sat down at the bar, I have to say the bartender is charming, the regulars are friendly and the appetizers are half priced at the bar dine in only! What is better than that? Oh delicious not greasy food, fresh sushi and decent drinks! Definitely worth stopping in!

Over priced. Charges for tea, rice. There was a bug in my sushi and they shrugged it off saying it was salmon skin

Great sushi, but other dishes in my experience have been mediocre. The last time I got gyoza(fried pork dumplings if I recall correctly) they were edible but not heated sufficiently. Fairly nice atmosphere, and good for pick up, though I’ve seen them get really crowded on a few occasions. The staff is friendly, and the food is decent, but not, in my opinion, worth going out of the way for.

First of all it’s gorgeous inside! We had a groupon to try the place. It was delicious! My boyfriend and I really loved it. I just wish it was slightly closer to the city.

My wife and I were excited when we saw a Sakura was opening 15 mins from us. We had gone to the one in Providence a few times and liked it. We do sushi at least once a month and figured this would be a homerun for us… turned out to be more like a bloop single. The rolls are average at best and the execution is average, but the price point is high for what you get. The hot food is good but not spectacular. I’ve had a few appetizers that were also good but didn’t seem to hit the mark we were hoping for. The drinks are spotty. I’ve had really good cocktails here and really poorly made ones as well. Maybe we put this place on a pedestal because of past experiences at the other location. We will maybe give it another go in a pinch when the sushi craving hits and we don’t feel like going to far, but this is not our 1st choice.

Love this place, food is always amazing, most of the time we do the hibachi($$$$) not cheap but so yummy, I have to say– I go to hibachi a lot– not even interested in their little tricks because they are ALWAYS the same. Change it up please! Drinks are made very well, the jolly rancher martini is super strong, while the Mai tai is made perfectly. When we sit in the usual dining area the food never disappoints. Portions are pretty decent for the money and food is delicious. Try their egg rolls! I’ve heard that some people have gotten served underage here… I think they are cracking down on it though. Honestly I don’t know how Mon Kou down the street is still in business !!

Nice space with friendly staff. We went for sushi and what we ordered was tasty and fairly priced. I would like to see more menu options in the sushi department. The sweet potato sushi and shrimp tempura maki were very good.

The vegetarian sushi was good but not great. Their vegetarian hibachi that I’ve had in the past is much better. I could of done without the group of 15 screaming trashed people standing next to my table taking pictures of themselves for 20 minutes but I guess now I know not to come back on a Saturday night.

I got tempura udon soup and a spicy salmon maki roll. 1 star: the udon broth had no taste and was the worst udon I have had. So disappointing because that’s the whole reason I chose Sakaura, as udon is hard to find around here. Aaaaaand here’s the worst part… one of my tempura shrimp had a long, black hair entwined in the batter when I bit into it. Gross! 2 stars: only reason I gave Sakura another star was for the spicy salmon roll which was not too bad. Not sure if it’s a good thing that I ate this before I encountered the hair in my tempura… I will have to find sushi and udon elsewhere…

Being originally from the Boston area I am picky when it comes to Chinese food. For some reason RI has awful Chinese food with the exception of Shanghai on Thayer Street. This restaurant is just minutes from RI but is edible. There was a 5 minute wait when we arrived so the kids helped themselves to the giant bowl of candy at the front next to the big golden fist pump kitty statue. We were seated within the 5 minutes and our server came right over. We ordered the basic pupu platter, chicken lo-mein, and pork fried rice. The service fast, the food came out hot and the restaurant was clean. The rice was good but my only complaint was that the pork a bit fatty. The drinks looked good but we were with kids so I didn’t try. I’ll have to go back sans kids for cocktails.
