This is our local bar. Very cool pub, Twin Peaks themed, with the best bartenders in Atlanta. The food is solid… better than the usual pub fare. They make a great burger with homemade pimento cheese that is out of this world. They do veggie plates and daily specials with fresh ingredients. Would also recommend the blue cheese chips, the dumplings, and the shrimp and grits. Great service and diverse crowd.

Best Burger in town ! I just spent a long weekend in Atlanta visiting family and seeing a few sights. Stopped into Bookhouse on the advise of a few locals and was not disappointed. Great atmosphere, music and staff. The staff were friendly and intuitive, they made me feel right at home. «Murph» suggested the loaded fries. Definitely worth blowing my diet for ! Looking forward to my next visit.

This place is pretty cool looking, its cozy and has a nerdy fun vibe going. I was there on a Saturday night and it was pretty crowded but we still found parking easily enough. My biggest issue was the service. Our waitress was one of the worst I’ve ever had! She would come to our table, take one order and leave before anyone else could say anything. She practically rolled her eyes at our orders, not sure why, and she brought us our checks long before we had planned on leaving. Not to mention the burger my friend ordered was just raw and inedible. I don’t think I’ll be going back here, there are so many other places near-by that are actually worth my money.

Bookhouse has amazing food(best fried chicken ever) and a great, always-changing beer selection. Unfortunately, the service is consistently awful. I keep returning to Bookhouse hoping that I simply caught a server on a bad day last time, and maybe this time will be better. It never is. Especially when I am there with a group larger than two people, I feel as though I am inconveniencing the waitstaff with my presence. I find myself going out of MY way to be polite to the staff to try to make the situation less uncomfortable. This has happened four times now. Last night about six of us were sat outside and waiting for one more guest to arrive, and our server wouldn’t even let us order drinks. He said, «that’s not how this works. You wait for everyone before you order with me.» Are you kidding me? If that’s the house rule, then don’t let us sit down with an incomplete party. That would be perfectly fine. But it is NOT okay to have us seated and then deny us a drink order. And the way he said it, like he was scolding us for our bad manners. Oh, the irony. I will not be coming back to Bookhouse. There are simply too many outstanding bars and restaurants in ATL for me to put up with acutely rude waitstaff. Such a shame… I’ll really miss that fried chicken.

I love the Bookhouse Pub! My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this charming joint on Saturday while we were waiting for MJQ to open. We first stepped into Friends bar, but left due to the smoky atmosphere. Bookhouse is not smoky and has a ton of character! I love the Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones figurines everyone and the ambient lighting. I ordered a spicy margarita that was delicious(and nutritious?) It was one of the best cocktails I’ve had in Atlanta so far. I can envision curling up in a booth here on a weeknight with a journal, or working on a laptop. They also host Magic the Gathering game nights on Mondays, which is something I may look into! Overall, great spot. I am into it.

I like this place because it’s laid back, can accommodate medium sized groups(4 – 6 people) with relative ease(some seating, will separate checks, etc), has better than average bar food, has free parking, has outdoor seating, and offers a wide variety of ciders. It also feels a little bit like a scene out of Harry Potter or the Hobbit with the cool geode lamps hanging above the tables. It’s kinda cool that they offer dumplings from Buford Highway favorite Chef Liu, but they were out the last time I was there(insert sad face). With the opening of Ponce City Market, it seems like everything in this area is getting increasingly crowded, and Bookhouse has certainly felt that way the last few times I’ve been. However, this is the kind of spot I’m willing to wait for, and I can only hope the opening of the next«big thing» will reduce the crowds at this little neighborhood spot.

Nice place, but we just watched a lady get roothied here. The whole place just watched, the staff did nothing. Myself and my friend had to carry her home so her friends could take care of her. She had 3 drinks all night and her friend was completely sober. This lady could not stand up. Went back after helping her get safely home, told the manager and all he said was«what do you want me to do about it?» He never asked how she was. Watch out yall. Not good enough.

The food, atmosphere and beer selection are excellent. However my server could use a drink. Maybe she was having a bad day but it’s doubtful.

Cute little pub with nice servers and good ambiance. Drinks came out a little slow, but it was a Friday night and they were quite busy. The décor is super cute, very library/cabin like. Cocktails were very nice and smooth and the servers were nice.

This place is ok! Nothing special about it beside the name of it. You can sit outside of inside but the how place is small. Great place to hang out but not for a big groups. Drink here was ok! I came here for my friend bday and it wasn’t something I expected !! Bars close at 2pm and drinks do take a long time to come out. The waiter sited us outside at this big table but it was way to big. I couldn’t talk to anyone without screaming across the table.

Oh how I love this neighborhood pub, let me count the ways. First, there is obviously the cozy interior, all wood beams and bookshelves and these amazing stained glass windows and art! Second, the beer selection is *outstanding*, whether it’s the regularly rotating drafts or the bottled & canned options. Third, there’s the quirky and eclectic menu — on various occasions I’ve had the chili, wings, beef burger, veggie burger, a fish entrée, and most recently, dumplings(from Chef Liu’s on Buford) which were oh so yummy I’m gonna go right now and get some except they’ve prolly run out by now. Fourth, I like the people this place draws, it’s a nice mix and definitely not that annoying frat boy bro brigade that takes over all the bars in VaHi. Fifth, there’s Tiki Tuesdays where for $ 10 you can get a tiki drink & keep the mug. I can keep going but you get the picture. This is my go-to pub in Atlanta & it should be yours as well.

Great décor, it’s classy meets geeky books. Lots of nice wood adorns the walls and sometimes they decorate them with art from local artists. You’ll see bookshelves adorn the walls too like a crown molding of books. Perfect place for a drink or date. They offer lots of craft beers and bears on top ranging from Beers $ 4-$ 10 Mixed cocktails from $ 7-$ 10 I tried a dark and stormy and it was perfect. The food is amazing. I try something different each time and I am never disappointed. Food and app prices range from $ 6-$ 17 pending what you get I got Shrimp and Grits– It is garnished with tomatoes, and pimento cheese. It was very good, had nice large shrimp plopped on top. Generous portions. Also tried the Burger with pimento cheese and a fried egg on top. This was a nice juicy burger with fries. Def hit the spot.

It’s a magical land of nerds and booze. Need proof? The bar is Twin Peaks inspired, filled with books, and has a wall of nerd hero paintings! Not to mention Game of Thrones nights, Magic: The Gathering meetings, and any manner of tom foolery that may be going down on any given night! The food is way better than your average pub(I definitely recommend the bacon blue cheese chips, which are always on the menu and available late night). The beer list is nothing to sneeze at and you best believe they have the Ommegang Game of Thrones brews on lock! Cocktails, they got em! Traditional favourites along with, of course, Twin Peaks themed ones(Log Lady for life). Go. Just go. Don’t walk, RUN! It’s important to your survival. Unless you hate nerds, don’t know what TARDIS stands for, and think hobbits are lame… then you’d burst into flames from all the evil eyes right when you enter.

Went here on a Thursday night with family and friends. They must have been crazy slammed. Our waitress was not interested in any kind of customer service. She was rude, never checked on the table and we had to track her down for water. When we inquired about why it was taking so long for our food she replied«you guys came at a bad time. There are three large parties ahead of you.» Strange thing was… The largest party there was 5 people. The rest we couples and people at the bar. The sad thing is my food was actually really good. I got their quinoa black bean burger with fries and a side of kale salad. I definitely won’t be back here. Even if the restaurant is busy, there is no excuse for poor service. 2 stars is generous.

Bookhouse does a good job. When it comes to Atlanta pubs. My recommendations will always be Steinbecks, The Porter, and now Bookhouse.

I like the Bookhouse Pub. They have one of favorite patios in Atlanta. It’s my normal spot when on Ponce. Tonight was an anomaly. I didn’t stay with my party of four because I was so put off by the hostess. We wanted to sit in the back patio. It’s not open, I get it. It’s a slow Tuesday night. I know this because the Local had a crap ton of parking spaces. I ask her if they have a table outside on the front patio, and she tells me no which I know is a load. I step outside and the big table out front is unoccupied. She informs me that our party of four is not big enough to sit at the 8 top. I left. I have sat at that table with a party of two on more than one occasion. Either that was her section and she didn’t want to work, or she needs to be trained that on a slow night(a Tuesday for crying out loud) it might be okay to allow four people to spend their money at her establishment. If that was my section, I would be pissed to know that one of my coworkers let a four top walk out the door on a slow night.

Listed as Atl’s 23rd best bar. Parking is not the best… but I was pleasantly surprised by this neighborhood gem. Food was good and a great selection of high gravity beers. Service was good as well. it’s truly just a good bar, it’s a nice alternative from nearby Dugans or even Model T’s. I definitely see myself returning here… and I think this rating of 23 is too low. Great Bar!

Stopped in here 2 weeks ago to meet up with a bunch of my husband’s work friends. Twice. The first trip, we just had some drinks. Second trip we also got some food. Tried several different things & everything was delicious. The drinks aren’t exactly a great deal, but the food is worth going back for. And they were super accommodating for group that continued to grow in size. I think the 2nd trip in, we ended up having 40 – 50 ppl after it started out just 3 of us :)

My brother dined here before(and loved it) and wanted to take me here. What a cool spot to have drinks and dinner! The outside has a earthy/rustic look. Kind of reminded me of a scene from a sci-fi movie(outdoorsy like). The inside was very cozy with books plastered all over the wall. Very simple and not overkill on décor. Love the hardwood floors. My favorite is the wallpaper near the bathroom area. Very artsy and educational too! How cool is that? We only had to wait 20 minutes for a table on a Friday night? We definitely got lucky. My brother got me a beer at the bar before we were seated. Got the Weihenstephaner which is 5.4 percent German Hefe-Weizen for only $ 5.00 for a pint. It was very good! Smooth, not too hoppy with a hint of sweet taste. There is a great selection of beers on tap and bottle. Our server was very friendly. We started off with Spicy Bleu Cheese Chips which is homemade potato chips, bleu cheese, tomatoes, bacon, cilantro, chipotle sauce. For dinner I got the Tofu Burger(breaded) with hand carved fries for $ 9.00 and my brother got the Pineapple Pork Fried Rice. WOW! I Spicy Bleu Cheese Chips were out of this world! I am not a huge fan of bleu cheese, but it was good! They did not put too much and the sauce with bacon and tomatoes compliment well together. I thought my tofu burger was going to be simple. OMG, it was delicious! The tofu was breaded and topped with a special sauce. I also liked that my bun was buttered and toasted. The fries were delicious, fresh and loved the seasoning. I can see why this place got great reviews. I want to come back and try more items on the menu. Vegetarian friendly and nice selection to choose from. I will definitely return! This place rocks!

This place is deceptively cool, and the interior feels like a movie scene. You get the feeling you could spend hours in this place and everything would be okay. I somehow feel smarter for having gone here [maybe it’s the books that absorb into you], who knows. I had the Korean beer on the menu and New Holland’s Dragon’s Milk Stout. The Korean beer was bottled and full bodied, good. The Stout was delicious as well, though it is notoriously hard to get a good stout anywhere stateside. The fries were good and the waitress even brought mayo + ketchup at my request to keep things extra european. Give this place a go, I don’t think it is possible to be disappointed here. I’ll be back.

I don’t know what took me so long to finally come here. Besides being seated at a table with wet seats in a dark corner(you can guess how that turned out), it was a good experience. Draft beer menu, while not the most variety, was above average and my chorizo burger was one of the more interesting burgers I’ve had in town not at the Vortex.
