I love, love, love this thai restaurant. It is great to have a good option within walking distance. Staff are so friendly and are very involved in the community. It is slightly pricey but worth it.

I’m surprised Thai Diner only has a 3.5 star aggregate rating — it’s a pretty dang good Thai restaurant. I’ve been a number of times now, and never been disappointed. The green curry is good, but I’m particularly fond of the noodle dishes — today I tried a noodle dish that isn’t listed on their online menu and I can’t remember the name(it was made with egg noodles) but it was absolutely delicious. I got it «Thai Hot», as I often do, but this was probably the hottest dish I’ve had in a restaurant in a very long time. It’s rare that a restaurant pushes my heat tolerance, but this did… but it was an all around delicious dish. It made me realize I need to get Thai Diner into my regular lunch rotation. Service has been solid every time I’ve been here, and at lunch they are very quick — it would be very easy to get in and out in under 30 minutes if you’re so inclined.

Got sat quickly. Service was great and the food came out quickly. In terms of flavor, it was very mediocre. Thai chicken coconut soup had too much lemon flavor and the thai chicken salad didn’t pair well with their peanut dressing. They should invest in a ginger based dressing as a trade off because it’s a hit or miss with the peanut dressing and in my case for my palette, it was a miss. Massaman curry was just okay. Location is easy to get to and there’s ample parking. Overall, it’s just okay. Nothing at all to brag about.

Ok. Update. HUGEIMPROVEMENT!!! The food and menu is now extremely good! The homemade dumplings, soup and dishes are flavorful and worth the price. The portion size is now fit for a human or 2 and a half Hobbits. The service is extremely fast and extremely friendly! This place has really done a 360 and I am now a regular. I can’t believe it’s the same place

Food is fantastic. Some of the best Thai food I e ever had. The server was awful. She was sitting in a corner table eating with a guy when we walked in. We thought they were customers. It was at about 5:25 pm. It took her a good five minutes to get up and ask us how many. When she seated us, she went back to her table, and the guy burped. They started laughing. She was really cold and insouciant to us. Too bad. We’d heard this place was great but really?

Oh my stars! Worst coconut soup ever. Having lived on West Coast where Thai food is so good, this was just the worst. I almost think, they are lazy passing off this coconut soup as Thai food. Was totally missing anything in it. Maybe two bites of chicken, no flavor of galanga, lemongrass and hardly any flavor of the coconut milk. I will just have to keep searching for some good Thai food in the Atlanta area. This is definitely not it.

The service was fine, but the food was mediocre and inauthentic, and the portions were inadequate to be considered a meal. I honestly felt cheated since the $ 14 dollars I paid for the Penang curry got me only 5 small, low quality pieces of beef and very few vegetables. Don’t come here if you expect good food or adequate portion sizes. Worst Thai restaurant in Atlanta, hands down.

I’ve eaten at Thai Diner many times over the last six months. It’s by far my favorite Thai spot. I always get the Pad Woon Sen. This last visit, however, I was with a group and got to try a bunch of different things. Basil Rolls– Really good. Love the sauce that accompanies them. Lettuce Wraps — Nice portion, not the best I’ve had, but decent Spring Rolls– Standard spring rolls. They were good. Coconut Ice Cream — Really good! Sticky Rice with Mango — Really really good! Especially with the aforementioned coconut ice cream. I got my standard Pad Woon Sen, which is always yummy. The star of the show was the Thai Iced Tea. How I have I lived XX years and never had Thai Iced Tea? It was amazing! I could have had two but I was thinking of all the calories that had to be in that delicious drink. I know once it warms up outside I’ll be getting those quite often. So good! Service at Thai Diner is quick and friendly.

So yummy and fast! I had the mango chicken but I replaced the chicken with tofu. Everything was fresh and delicious and the two women who helped me were super sweet. I’ll definitely go back!

I ordered the Pad Thai for lunch the other day and it was okay. It was a small portion and they gave very few shrimp. They did give me some extra shrimp tails ends.

Let me start be prefacing this with; I have no idea why they only have 3.5 stars on Unilocal. They’re almost 5 stars on Google and definitely deserve to be. During lunch, this place is ALWAYS packed, which just goes to show how good it is. Now to my order. I ordered a Chicken Pad Thai about 2 weeks ago and it was phenomenal. It was ready to go just the way I requested it; no bean sprouts and just a a medium spice level. Fast forward to today, and I decide to order again. This time, I said my name, and before I had the chance to say anything, the employee recited my order back to me perfectly. I was shocked! Amazing customer service on top of amazing food P. s. You get a free egg role!

I wouldn’t suggest this place… I ordered a beef fried rice and they served me within 2 mins… After 2 mins on my table the meat started to taste like an old meat that was prepared two days back and just heated… I told this to the waiter but she didn’t show much concern for it, nor apologized. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

If you want mediocre service and bad food this is the place for you. Our waitress never came back after the soup was dropped off and we had to ask all the other servers for help. My pad thai was horrible, bad flavor and rubbery noodles. When I complained about this dish they actually had the gall to ask me if I wanted a box. I told them i wanted it off the bill. Still no one came over to me to apologize or ask if I wanted anything else. We signed our bill with no tip and these people came out to the parking lot to ask us about it. This was the first time and last time at this place

The Thai Diner is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is great and the staff is extremely friendly. I have never had a bad meal here. I typically order the Pad Thai noodles and they are delish. Not too sweet, just right. I have also had the basil fried rice which is out of this world. You can’t go wrong if you eat here. The place is clean and the décor is very inviting. The floor plan is pretty open, so you can see everyone sitting in the restaurant. The restaurant gets pretty busy for lunch so try to get there around 11:30. I will return to get more viddles:-)

I love their coconut soup! The food is fresh, delicious and moderately priced. Cozy atmosphere and very attentive wait staff. Perfect spot for a business lunch, a meal with friends or a dinner date. I love that I can get in and out quickly if needed, when on the way to a movie nearby, because they are efficient. Other favorites: Pad Thai, spring rolls, Thai iced tea and their plum wine.

Definitely my go-to lunch spot when in the mood for Thai. I can’t comment on the lunch specials since we mostly order off the regular dinner menu. Soft Shell Crab in Green Curry is a must. It’s my favorite dish here. The crab is lightly fried to perfection and their green curry sauce is one of the best I’ve ever had. Pineapple Fried Rice is okay, but the curry powder overpowers the pineapple. If not a fan of curry taste in your fried rice I would not order this. Pad Thai is consistent and really good. They don’t pile on the sauce and its light and filling at the same time.

Diner is probably a misnomer for the place as it was a lot nicer than a typical diner. I wasn’t really sure what to expect as it’s located in a Kroger shopping center. Here’s what I had: Squid appetizer: I think this was an off-the-menu item, but it wasn’t…all that great. This was like calamari but in a tempura/flour batter that was way too thick. The squid was definitely fresh and would have been good by itself as it was soft and tender. The appetizer came with a sweet/sour sauce that did give this more taste, but meh. I wouldn’t get this again. Green curry chicken: I ordered this«Thai hot» and it wasn’t too hot at all. The curry portion was definitely generous that I would have liked more rice. What I like about this curry is that it was thick and not watered-down like a soup like some places serve it. Overall, this place is ok if you’re craving Thai food in the Smyrna/Vinings area and it’s a semi-nice ambience. Service is on-par and you can definitely tell there are regulars that come in, but it may be more for a Western palate. I probably wouldn’t come back as there are some other Thai options in the area worth trying too.

I went here for lunch. There is plenty of parking. I arrived at 11:30 am, which is a good thing because this place gets packed by noon! Everyone was dressed in business casual attire, so this seems like a big go-to place for office lunch-breaks in the area. I was wearing workout clothes and felt fine though. The lunch specials are a great deal: cheap, hearty, and delicious. I ordered the panang curry with shrimp, and(even though it was served on a plate…) I was very satisfied. My friend ordered the pad thai and loved her meal as well. We both walked away feeling pretty good. The total for both meals was $ 21! Great deal. Oh, and we each got a free bowl of coconut soup, which I thought was pretty delicious. The restaurant itself was clean, modern, and had a lot of natural lighting. The staff was friendly and attentive. While this isn’t my number one choice for thai food in the area(again, they served the curry on a plate — who does that??), I’d definitely go back!

This is our go-to for Thai food. Located in the Kroger shopping center, they seem to do more business during lunch their dinner. Their dining room is white table cloth, and in the evening times it is quite nice, however. They have a standard thai menu with a selection of curries and noodle dishes, and their kitchen is very quick and every dish I’ve ordered there has been great!

I like that in the Galleria/Cumberland Mall area, I have two Thai options — Thai Diner and Top Spice. I’ve been going back-n-forth for lunch and the only recommendation I can make for Thai Diner is don’t order chicken or pork. They charge $ 1 – 2 more for beef and shrimp but you’ll be happier you did. Their chicken has this old/rubbery taste and it’s been pretty consistent. I tried a pork dish just one time and it was so fatty and didn’t taste right — their minced pork dishes are ok though. The one time I ordered beef, I was very happy. Otherwise they do have a good lunch menu(which includes coconut soup), the food comes out quickly, service is very friendly, and restaurant is always packed. YUMNUA — $ 9.95(dinner) This is the Thai beef salad and I really liked the flavors. Grilled, sliced flank steak w/red onion, carrot, tomatoes, cucumbers, romaine lettuce and served w/chili-lime dressing. Good portion, very tasty — ordered«medium» spicy and it was pretty spicy so I asked for white rice. They charged $ 1.50 for rice — BOO. I did expect the beef to be medium rare b/c I always thought beef in Thai salad was served medium rare — but it was well-done so it was on the tough side. If you order this, make sure you ask for medium rare. NAMSOD — $ 7.25(lunch) Sampled my friend’s dish — spicy and strong ginger flavor and overall good light option. I’m a huge fan of nam sod and larb. Spicy minced pork tossed w/shredded ginger, onions and peanuts in Thai spices & lime juice, and served w/a wedge of fresh cabbage. SPICYSPAGHETTI — $ 8.75(lunch) Shrimp and chicken tossed w/green beans, tomatoes, onion and basil in Thai spicy sauce. Tomatoes were good, sauce was bold and flavorful, and noodles were interestingly hollow. Be careful eating though b/c you may splatter your clothes. PENANGCHICKENCURRY — $ 8.25(lunch) Broccoli, bell peppers, lime leaves and basil cooked in a mild coconut curry sauce — wish I read the menu more carefully b/c I always thought penang was a spicy curry. Not spicy at all :(Also not liking the chicken. THAICHICKENNOODLESALAD — $ 8.25(lunch) Expected cold salad but this was served warm. Steamed chicken, egg noodles(tasted like spaghetti) w/chopped romaine(soggy strips and barely any), tomato — cucumbers and boiled egg were MIA even though they were listed on the menu. Salad was served w/house dressing and crushed peanuts — overall not pretty presentation(see photo). Mostly noodles and few chicken — and rubbery chicken again. PAPRIKPORK — $ 8.25(lunch) Complained earlier about the pork, and pork is such a central part of this dish — so I hardly ate this dish at all. The entrée also had bell peppers, onions, mushrooms and hot peppers in a spicy chili sauce. I usu. love Pa Prik Pork but not this one. Overall another convenient lunch option — just remember to order beef or shrimp w/your entrees, not chicken or pork.
