So, I’ve only been here for lunch, but it surpassed any expectations. I’m usually a 4-roll order type of gal, but on this day i wasnt quite hungry but wanted to have something before i headed out of town. The bento box whixh is 12.95 had more food than i had expected. First, you pick 2 entrée/rolls from a list of about 15 items ranging from handrolls to tempura veggies. I had the cali roll and a spicy tuna(my girl friend had tempure veggies and avocado roll, she wouldnt stop raving about the veggies) all were delicious. Along with your 2 items, the box includes miso soup, salad, rice, 2 meat dumplings, and an additional piece of tuna sushi. I was stuffed by the time i left and had enough for a snack for the drive. P. s. if you’re a vegetarian like my friend, stay away from miso soup, it’s made with dashi aka fish stock aka not vegetarian. You’re welcome.

Came here looking at the reviews and place was really good. My wife and I liked the décor of the restaurant. The service was fast and the appetizers were delicious! Got the fried oysters tako yaki and some others which were all good. The salmon baked roll was superb and delicate as well as the CA roll was fresh and delicious. It is a little pricey but definitely well worth it. The locations is kind of weird I didn’t really like it but the food and service was awesome. Wife got the desert the Japanese flan she loved it. Will come again for sure.

Incredibly terrible service, if you want to get yelled by the waitress and mistreat even you are a paying customer, feel free to come. We came in and waited for 20 mins while few tables were empty and the waitresses were too«busy» to seat us. Then we waited for another 20 mins to be able to make an order since there are other customers who were ordering take always and supposedly came before us(which is not even true since we waited for 20mins for seating and no one was waiting for ordering takeaway as we were waiting). Finally the waitress came and yelled at us since we didn’t use the sushi paper for ordering(because we don’t want to eat sushi). What a great experience. Advice for owner … Train your waitresses if you want to have a positive impact on your customers.

Great sushi and loved that they had jazz music playing. I can’t wait to go back and try more things on their very diverse menu.

BADCUSTOMERSERVICE. YOUAREBETTEROFFGOINGSOMEWHEREELSE. food was decent, but the service was horrible on a Saturday night. was looking for my waitress every single time i needed something and it took her another 5 – 7 minutes to be found. always ignoring us, almost to the point of feeling alone. very disappointing since i had read such good reviews about this place. hopefully you get a more attentive waitress when you go. food: 7⁄10 service: 1⁄10 –(she didn’t even pour my large Asahi, like all other Asian restaurants do) care: 0⁄10 — white patrons were getting way more attention than the brown skin customers)(it’s like it’s an asian thing to love white people more) on a $ 128 check she got $ 0 tip, she deserved nothing. HORRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE.

Came here on Saturday night and thought the building was transported and planted. Upon entering the establishment you wouldn’t even feel like you’re in the states. Our server was Nina, she was awesome! Super helpful and have great advice whenever we had any questions. Overall great customer service! Look for her! Appetizer ordered: 1. Takoyaki — Standard and tasted fine. 2. Chawanmushi — Disappointed because it wasn’t cooked well enough. Plus, I was introducing this dish to my date and it was totally not the way Chawanmushi is supposed to taste which made the disappointment even greater. Nina noticed the problem as well and had the dish remade, but the cook didn’t prepare it correctly again even after being told the second time that it needed it be cooked more thoroughly(see photo). The consistency was more like soup instead of the correct pudding like consistency. So… its was the cook that should’ve prepared it correctly. For $ 10 — not worth it if it isn’t made correctly. Main dishes: 1. Chirashi — I’ve had this dish in many places and I think they are missing masago. Though the rice was fine, they really should’ve added masago. So, this dish needs improvement. 2. Lambda Roll — Perfect! This was probably our favorite dish! Dessert: Our dessert was green tea ice cream, flan, and red bean and it was delicious! The flan was perfect because it wasn’t too sweet! Only tiny negative, the red bean was too sweet for me(I’m super sensitive) so it may not be too sweet for you. So get their dessert if you have some room!

Ever since I have eaten at Sushi House Hayakawa, every other sushi restaurant I have been to in Atlanta pales in comparison. However, Hayakawa is currently temporarily closed, and I wanted to treat my family to a sushi dinner when they were in town. I’d heard pretty good things from fellow Unilocalers, so I was excited to try out Sushi Huku. I made a reservation an hour in advance for 7:30pm on a Friday night, and was able to get a table for four, easily. The restaurant appears to be run by many Korean middle aged women, who were super sweet but seemed a bit disorganized that night. We were seated immediately, sort of. They had placed my reservation under«Stephanie» so after that snafu was fixed, we were rushed to a reserved table in a private back area(or where they put all the last minute reservations, I suppose). It took a while but we got waters and some nice hot towels(smelled freshly laundered mmmm) and a complimentary bowl of edamame. She took our order and we didn’t see our food for almost an hour. We did get miso soup and salad, but that only whetted our appetites. It made us feel a little better that no one else around us was getting food, either. When food started coming out, our server kept getting us confused with another table and brought us dishes a couple times that we didn’t order. We politely noted that wasn’t ours, but I was so hungry that I almost wanted to say that it was most definitely ours… Finally our food came and we were ecstatic. Or hungry. Or both. Sashimi: The first dish was our chef’s choice Large Sashimi, or noted on the menu as $ 60 Sashimi dinner. I shared this with my dad. The server noted this would be enough to feed two people. It was quite an array of fish! It would have been nice if she had stayed around to let us know what each item was, as they do at Hayakawa. I guess she assumed we looked like sashimi connoisseurs, which is a nice enough compliment. All the cuts of fish looked fresh and we were ready to dig in. I was especially excited about the uni, which turned out to be a bust. I took one bite and didn’t know what to do. It smelled rank like sewage water. I thought maybe it had to do with the water they used to clean the uni. But honestly, I’ve never had uni that tasted like that. My dad is probably the least pickiest eater I’ve ever met, and even he had to leave the uni on the platter. What a shame. We asked the server, who only sniffed it with no expression and her only response was«we only serve the freshest fish here.» I understand, but when something smells like a toilet, maybe you should take it back and ask the sushi chef what’s going on. I was pretty disappointed in her response, which made the rest of the meal pretty lackluster. Combination: my mom ordered the combination dinner of the Saba teriyaki and the geso karaage(fried squid). I was pretty disappointed with what she got. In the bento box, she got two pieces of mackerel and maybe 6 pieces of fried squid. There was plenty of tempura and white rice. For $ 25, I would have thought they could portion it better. The karaage wasn’t crisp and was kind of hard to bite into. Flavors were all pretty good. My sister wasn’t really eating but she ordered the imitation crab meat nigiri, her guilty pleasure. To my dismay, I saw her two wimpy little nigiri. It looked like one larger portion was cut in half. This was $ 3.50. The dessert that comes with the meal was the cutest little thing, mini flan/pudding. Each person only got one piece, 4 for the table, and they couldn’t take the time to offer us one on each platter. We had to share the plates. Which is fine, but I thought it was odd we got such a tiny dessert, compared to everyone else’s scoop of green tea ice cream(I noticed in some Unilocal pictures that some people even got a scoop of ice cream AND a little flan/pudding). Overall I was very disappointed in the offerings at Sushi Huku. I expected great things from a restaurant that has made it to the Zagat time and time again. Maybe it was an off night and maybe we ordered the wrong things. I advise against the raw uni, as it may cause you upset stomach like it did to me and my dad. I don’t see myself coming here again.

I am not an expert of sushi. So I decide to give four star although I was very satisfied with the food there. By the way, I think the sushi combo I got plus a small side of veggie was enough for two people while the waitress was surprised that we only ordered one entrée. Well I don’t want to feel like a fat bastard.

Came to this place for lunch because it was near my work. Just ordered the lunch bento menu with tonkatsu and spicy tuna roll. Lunch bento came with miso soup, rice, tempura, and salad. I gotta say, I was content with the bento box items. Tonkatsu had a decent thickness of the meat and it wasn’t heavily battered. I know certain places increase the thickness of batter and decrease the thickness of meat for their tonkatsu to save money but Sushi Huku was not one of them. Spicy tuna roll was good as well. Good amount of sauce and it wasn’t overbearing. I will be back for actual sashimi dinner and update my review.

After having this place bookmarked for 4 years, we finally tried it out. It will not be 4 years before we return! Jimmy and I went for a date night on a Wednesday. We shared the chirashi(pretty much my go to for comparing sushi places) and the combo box with tonkatsu and salmon shioyaki(which also had mixed tempura). The chirashi was delightful, especially the squid with mint, and the fish that had been cut and shaped into a rose(I couldn’t tell what fish it actually was). The server informed us that there wasn’t any yellowtail, which is usually my favorite, but I didn’t even miss it thanks to the taste and presentation of the rest. As for the combo box, the salmon shioyaki had that night smoky grilled flavor and was perfectly flaky. I kept going back for more, and I don’t usually like cooked salmon. The rest of the box was just ok. The tempura was crispy on the front, but had a lingering grease flavor. The tonkatsu wasn’t quite crispy enough, and the sauce was a little sweet and fishy for my taste. For dessert(included with our meals) we got a vanilla ice cream and green tea flan. Both were forgettable. Next time, I’ll just pass on dessert. The space itself was a little worn, feeling like an older neighborhood place. Indeed, there were lots of families and apparent regulars at the other tables and booths.

It opened my my door to YAKISOBA! I always think yakisoba is oily and salty, but what I got is soft, tender and not salty! Sooo good. My friends and I finished it in 5 minutes. $ 32 for 20 pieces of sashimi, not bad. Except two pieces of octopus are soggy as the way they are, others are fantastically fresh. How the chef put the sashimi plate was an art. I wish they could put fish from white and light gradually to red and heavy, so that I don’t need to pick them up one by one. Pink Lady: The taste was complicated. You get crunchy veggies, tender fish and spicyness. Yum. Did I tell you that dinners come with free salads, miso soup and dessert? The miso soup has a strong miso flavor, and you have two options for dessert. The egg pudding was okay, instead, the vanilla ice cream was better, hit the spot right. I even want to get the ice cream recipe, but turned out it was not homemade… We went there in a Saturday night. Parking was not a problem in a big plaza. You can choose private rooms instead. Good for large groups. Noise level was low. It’s easy to have an intimate conversation.

SASHIMI We ordered salmon and tuna a la carte. Each serving comes with 3 pieces. They are not large cuts of fish, but they are very very good. Every bite was buttery and delicious. They do have a combo sashimi for about $ 35 dollars for 20 pieces, but since we only wanted about 10 – 12 pieces, it was cheaper to get the ones we wanted a la carte. Great sashimi. HAWAIIANROLL This roll is so good. It has roe on top and coconut shrimp, tuna, avocado, and crab salad on the inside. It was so good, we inhaled it faster than the sashimi. AGEDASHITOFU This was quite good… but I was so thrown off the agedashi texture. It’s had a gelatin texture to the coating rather than the usual panko or like batter for the tofu. Still very tasty though!

Only been there once with a friend but we enjoyed the dinner. It has a quiet atmosphere, comfortable, not too big, not to small either. The Geisha roll was really good, as well as the baked salmon roll.

Stopped by for a quick lunch, expecting amazing sushi. It may be better for dinner, the presentation and style seemed to lack a little. Had the Crazy Horse(yellowtail and avocado; quite good), the Battera(Mackerel; wouldn’t order again) and a spicy tuna roll(average). The miso soup was nice, since it was cold out, and I enjoyed the fact that we could order natto. I wish more places would have Natto on their menu!

Based on all these great reviews, the sushi lover in me had to try this place. I came here on a Saturday night with the boyfriend. The waitress was kind. The only few was that she spoke little English, so it was kind of hard to communicate with her. We ordered the Lambada Roll and Baked Salmon roll. These rolls were more expensive than normal rolls. They were also the smallest rolls I have ever seen! Definitely, a rip off. We also ordered an appetizer, Geso karaage. I like Shoya’s better. Last, we ordered the Matsu Sashimi. The cuts were normal size, but I found some fish bones in my sashimi. The fish does not even compare to Shoya or Sushi House Hayakawa in regards to quality and freshness. We left pretty dissatisfied. I have no idea why this sushi restaurant is rated so high! PS: I am a full time sushi/sashmi eater. I should have died of mercury poisoning by now. This was a waste of gas and a waste of money. Go elsewhere.

I am not a sushi expert. I rarely eat sushi, so this review is based on other foods. I only come here because my office is like 5 mins away and… most of my co workers like sushi like places. So why not?! The Lunch Specials here aren’t too bad. but a little on the higher end.(well, for the Udon anyway) … Do not order hot tea here. It costs extra. Weird! I ordered one and saw it was an extra 2ish dollars?!? Hmm. I guess I’m used to free hot tea on BuHi places haha. But yeah, not going to accidentally order hot tea again here :( Parking — it’s in the same lot as Publix and The Juice Box. There are billions of spots. Definitely no complaints. Inside There are plenty of seating. Several booths &4 man tables. There is also an actual sitting table in the front. Pretty cool! I didn’t know Marietta shops included those type of seating arrangements. It can get busy during lunch hours so… I’d get here early. Food I had the Tempera Udon — The tempura itself was pretty good. As long as you dipped the sauce with it. The Udon was perfect for a cold day. The day I went was when ATL decided to have a 4 day«let’s fog up ATL» week. It was kind of cold and I didn’t feel like driving to BuHi during lunch. Personally, I think the Udon should be $ 7. Not 9.50. That’s pretty high. Maybe I’m so used to cheaper meals in BuHi, but I don’t know… 9.50 seemed pricey. If it were 7 bucks, I’d get it more often. I was still a little hungry afterwards. Bento Box I ordered the Chicken teriyaki along with Spicy Tuna roll. This Bento Box was HUGE. It came with VERY generation portions of salad, rice, miso soup, Chicken Teriyaki and several slices of Spicy Tuna. This was about… 12 bucks? Not bad at all. They also gave me an extra salmon slice & some other octopus salad(it was a smaller portion)? More than likely I’ll order this when I come here again. For me, this was worth the 12 bucks! Although I am not a big fan of sushi, their Spicy Tuna roll wasn’t half bad. Service — they’re pretty fast. I think we were done in 40 mins. And there have been no mix ups at all with our food. I’ll be back for sure for lunch!

Easily my favorite sushi spot in Atlanta. The sushi was phenomenal, both in freshness and presentation. The restaurant has some great touches, such as bringing the towels to wipe your hands before eating. On my numerous visits, waitresses have been very attentive and at times, amusing us with jokes. If you don’t have a very specific preference, I would recommend the sashimi dinner. For the money, it does not get any better. If you picked the same exact fish from the menu one by one, your check would be substantially higher. If you end up doing so, you will also get a small hidden surprise. There is a piece of prawn sashimi on the plate and once you eat it, you can ask the waitress to fry the prawn head for you. Trust me, it is delicious.

WHAT.A.FIND. Thanks to the waiter at Shoya ruining our perfectly fine dinner time I searched on Unilocal for a decent Japanese restaurant near by. I tried Harakaya before and the place didn’t really wow me, so I decided to try Sushi Huku. I didn’t have a reservation, but it was fairly early in the afternoon so they let us in. Looking around, I see quite a few tables with the sign ‘reserved’. To me that’s a good sign. The place is owned by Koreans, not Japanese, yet the foods that were coming from the Sushi bar looked fantastic. We ordered the $ 40 ish Sushi dinner set and a Spider roll. We probably would’ve ordered more if our experience at Shoya 20 minutes ago wasn’t so bad. When we got our Sushi dinner, it looked fantastic. They had ‘REAL’ wasabi instead of those powder ones you mix with water. Very aromatic and the quality of the sushi was incredible. The sushi rice wasn’t grabbed like a solid piece of rock like most places in GA. It’s probably one of the few places that wants me to just use my hand to pickup Sushi and dip in the soy sauce. It’s almost sin to use chopsticks for the beautifully crafted Sushi like the one we were served. We asked for a 1 leaf of Shiso, and the waitress brought us 4 – 5 leaves and knowing how expensive those can be, we returned all but one. The shiso leaf was very fresh as well. They are not very skimpy on portions too. The Sushi was a perfect size. I’m definitely coming back later, though it will remind us of the bad experience we had at Shoya the day we found the place, it will be well worth it. Deserves my first 5 star.
