I’m from California and my bf and I stumbled upon this place by accident while looking for another place to eat. I’m glad we stopped. Amazing chicken and macaroni and cheese. I totally recommend this place!

Sweet Jesus I am SO happy this restaurant has re-opened. This is my go to spot for breakfast. The selection is varied, many lunch and dinner options are also available very early in the morning which is a plus for some. I frequently order the bacon breakfast which includes bacon(thick cut with rinds), grits(no butter), scrambled eggs(no cheese) and toast. When I’m feeling extra saucy I add a salmon croquette which is absolutely scrumptious. Now… if you are not afraid of having a sugar diabetes induced stroke, try the homemade Arnold Palmer. It is to die for!!! Seriously… it is. If ever in the area, I highly recommend this eatery.

We went here today for lunch. Got there early like 11:20am it was getting crowded… I ordered the chopped steak over rice, Mac and cheese, collards and 2 wings with cornbread. My friend had chicken gizzards over rice, Mac and cheese, and green beans … Everything was delicious… I will say that it’s well worth the cost. They went up on the price since my first visit 4 years ago… I will come back… .

I’m here visiting from Los Angeles a buddy of mine from Atl took me to K and K. I had the mac and cheese, cabbage and Talipa. The food was the bomb, customer service was great. We ate there, vacant tables wasn’t quite clean but overall good food, especially if you ball on a budget like myself.

Great little place for soul food! I’ve eaten here three times and each time was great. The food tastes fresh, well seasoned without being overly salty and a good portion.

Man I hate to write this review about K & K, but I have no other choice! While on my quest to find the best soul food restaurant in Atlanta, I decided to check out K & K for lunch. When I first got in line, I noticed some food was splattered on the wall in the kitchen. That kind of turned me off, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed they were just too busy during lunch to clean it up. I ordered the beef stew and it was okay, so were the sides. I was going to give them 3 stars until 1am that morning. I woke up with the most excruciating pain in my stomach that I’d ever had in my life. I tried drinking some water and Gatorade and what do you know? All of that K & K Soul Food ended up in my toilet. Yuck! I remembered my friend had ordered the meat loaf and I tried it. It definitely was not the temperature it needed to be, talk about food borne illness! I really wonder what their health inspection score is. As far as the food is concerned, I was expecting more after reading the rave reviews on here. But the food was okay, so I was going to give them 3 stars but knew I probably wouldn’t be returning. But now I know I DEFINITELY won’t be returning. It was so bad that I had to head to the ER but luckily on the way I started feeling better and turned around. NEVERAGAIN!

Their banana pudding is soooooo good. It has to be someone’s little old granny making it. The food was pretty good as well. Definitely a spot where you can get some soul food at a decent price and in abundance. It is busy so you have been warned. I ventured out within the first hour of lunch and I can see why some say get there earlier in the day. By the time I got my food and payed, the line was out the door. But I see why. I would stand in that line just for the banana pudding.

2 Thumbs WAAAY up! I LOVE this place! This will be my new go-to Soul Food place when I feel like driving to that part of town! I had the Ox Tails, Dressing, Rice/Gravy, 2 Cornbread Muffins and Green Beans all for about $ 11! The Ox Tails were the size of tennis balls and very meaty! It brought tears to my eyes(in a good way!) LOL! I thought I heard«Classical Music» playing due to it tasting soo good! LOL! People!!! Please be patient here, the line is going to be long and the food is made pretty much from scratch. The customer service was good too! Even with a line full of people and a few impatient angry chicks with indecisive kids, the staff was still kind! Those women & kids were getting on my FUCKING nerves… all over some damn Pancakes!!! Shit, Pancakes take time to cook! Damn! LOL! Just a little rant! ;-)

Went here with a work colleague the other day. He got a big olé meal of turkey and vegetables. I went with the 3 veggie plate that included corn bread. I was happy with the mac and cheese, potatoes, and okra as well as the corn bread. Fine deal for around $ 5. Everyone was super friendly and asked any questions I asked. I’ll be going back for lunch on a regular basis.

YUMYUMYUM is all I can say. My mouth is watering as I write this, thinking of their mac and cheese… fried chicken… sweet yams… I love that this place is almost a mom and pop shop. I also love that their food is so damn good. Reasonable, quick, and always friendly. It’s a great place to go for lunch, because it is close to campus(Tech), and parking is never an issue. I don’t mind going by myself or recruiting co workers to join me. I have to go there now; I’m hungry.

What a charming neighborhood! It features the Rice Streek County Jail just down the dirt gravel road over yonder and Sista’s Chicken Wangs located just a stone throw away across the streek. The neighborhood boasts dirt gravel roads, tumbleweeds, and toothless prostitution whores named Propecia. The food however, is prepared by Propecia’s church-lovin, God-fearin mother, Vanettta… and praise the Lawd for it, the food here is surrounded by the white light of the Holy Spirik !! Praise Him! I had the ox-tails, mac & cheese, and green beans. The ox tails were plump and plentiful. The mac and cheese was more like a custard… in a good way. The green beans were most likely from a can but that’s okay, I don’t really like fresh green beans anyhow! The only criticism I have is that I had to pay extra to have rice with my oxtails or else the rice would have counted as one of my sides. booo! I was definitely full after consuming my meal but that was with the added side order of the rice, perhaps had I gotten one of those massive turkey wings I’d have nothing to bitch about besides the tumbleweeds/prostitutes named Propecia.

This place is completely overrated. Is it gross? Nope. Disgusting? Nope. Bad Service? Nope. But as a man that knows his soul food. This place is utterly overrated. The place honestly reminds me of an old school butcher shop in how its set up. I wouldn’t be surprised if it used to be a fish market. In the middle of a lunch rush, I decided to poke my nose in and finally give this place a shot. K&K is set up a cafeteria style. The thing I did like about it, is that the menu was very, very clear. Most soul food spots you have to guess at what your going to be paying, not here. I opted for fried porkchops, mac & cheese and greens. My usual when it comes to soul food. The food was mediocre, and all I could think of was«damn, do I need to take my fellow Unilocalies to Dothan, Alabama so they really have a bench mark of what good soul food is supposed to be like»? The answer… yes. Holla when u wanna roll.

I might seem like the most unlikely person to be rating K & K Soul Food(formerly Bankhead Soul Food), but I love it here! I used to manage a nearby apartment community and I’d come here for lunch at least once a week. It’s hard to find good ox tails and turkey wings and K & K’s got you covered if that’s your craving. Everyone that works here is extremely nice and I always like to ask them for recommendations because they know what’s good(and they’re always right). My preference was usually their take out service, but they have ample parking and a pretty big dining room in case you want to sit and relax. Make sure to have some of their peach cobbler… it’s tha jam!

K & K is definitely one of the best. Located on Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy(formally Bankhead hwy.) the restaurant possess Atlanta history and extremely low prices. I went there today for the 1st time to pick up a huge amount of food for my team(Birthday Celebration). The management staff and all of the employees were so kind and prompt. They also, recommended different items and quantity to ensure everyone was full and happy. This place is a true southern kitchen. You walk in and it’s buffet style with the employees preparing your food. ANDOOOOOO how good it looks AND smell. If you want some Big Momma’s home cooking and genuine southern hospitality with low prices, then K & K Soul Food is the place to Go! ! !
