Big Daddys Dish

So i’m in East Point, pretty hungry, driving along and not sure what to eat, when I stumble upon Big Daddy’s Dish, complete with the massive VEGGIE PLATE!!! $ 2.99 sign you can’t miss! Let’s check this out.
Quaint little restaurant with a decent amount of seating and a very nice crew, who were kind enough to wipe all the condensation off the glass so that I could see what veggies they had on hand, which was typical of a meat and three (Collards, steamed cabbage, mac & Cheese, black eye’d peas, steamed rutabagas, Brunswick stew, etc, etc). I ended up getting a beef rib plate, which came with two sides, cornbread muffin, three rib bones and for lunch, a beverage of my choice.
Really enjoyed the flavor here. The collards I ordered did not taste like they were from a can, the cornbread muffin was really tasty, steamed cabbage was nothing special and the ribs, despite being drowned in bbq sauce, were also good. Oh, if you get sweet tea, get an extra cup of water, because that’s some SWEET tea!
What I really didn’t like was there was no visible sign/​menu that A, showed menu items and B, showed you how much a plate cost. Sure enough, the veggie plate is in fact $ 2.99, but I didn’t realize the rib plate would be $ 10. True, I could’ve asked, and that was my mistake. The second thing I didn’t like was that the beef ribs seemed to be more bone than rib, so if you want your money’s worth, maybe get the pork ribs, or another meat entrée altogether, or the highly advertized veggie plate! Still, decent place that does a lot of things right and can be a deal for lunch or dinner.

I am a big fan of Mac & Cheese like seriously. So big I was feat in a Unilocal Newsletter last yr for my love of Mac & Cheese.
I ordered the 4 veggie dinner platter
Macn N cheese dressing, corn and blackeyepeas.
The dressing was okay it could be better, corn (suppose to been cream corn it was a canned good corn) was tasteful season okay. Blackeyepeas was dry. and last but not least the mac n cheese,. THIS CRAP taste like baby food with someone trying to season it. I couldnt finish my Mac n cheese I was highly upset. I thought this food was going to touch my soul but it didnt. Now the only thing that get 5 stars its fresg and the friendly staff.

I must say every time i come here i usually get a veggie plate. The reasons why: They are season right and always taste good, they give you a are large serving and you can get very full on just one veggie plate, and for $ 2.99 how can you not love that! Their other meat items are very good also but you just can’t beat the veggie plate!
