True, authentic soul food. Hubby and I both had fried chicken wings with sweet potatoes, collard greens and mac & cheese. DELICIOUS! Big portions. The wings were huge. We ended up taking the rest of our food home and had so much leftover that it was honestly like having 2 – 3 meals in one. The lemonade/sweet tea mix was delicious as well. We truly appreciated the service. Our server Mark was very attentive. He just had a very good energy about him and was on it! Will definitely be going back. I’ll take pictures next time.

Wow! I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food from the restaurant was! Everything was A-1! My friend and I left work early and decided to take a drive to the wild side. We did a little window shopping and worked up an appetite for some good down home southern style cooking, which is how we ended up at big daddy’s dish. Initially we were hesitant to order because this wasn’t the cleanest place we could’ve chosen, but once my friend saw the beef ribs, she had to have them. I did not know which entrée to choose as there were so many options, but I ended up going for the Jerk Chicken wings, which come with your choice of yellow rice, mashed potatoes or white rice. And two sides. I chose yellow rice, candied yams, and broccoli and cheese casserole. My friend had beef ribs with cornbread dressing and the candied yams. The food was DELICIOUS! I mean this was like grandma’s house on Thanksgiving good! The yams were sweet, starchy, and thick. The jerk wings were spiced perfectly, and paired well with the yellow rice. The wings were more so jerk seasoning than jerk style, which was perfect for me. They were little, and easy to eat, and the gravy paired well with the yellow rice. The broccoli and cheese casserole was super cheesy and just outright yummy! The staff here were all very friendly, and were happy help us choose which entrée and sides to choose. They made us feel very welcome where we were clearly outsiders. If you’re in the mood for soul food, this is it! Make sure you’re prepared for the commute home though, my friend and I had an hour drive and actually had trouble staying awake lol.

they dont have soul food like this in AZ or CA, so my rating is prly skewed. I found everything here delicious! It was nice and greasy! Staff was ok, but not really located in a nice area, but food makes up for it!

Soul food cafeteria style. No ambiance but very clean as we did choose to eat in because we were starving, and to our surprise the server was so attentive and never let our drinks run dry or any request not be met. The choices of meats and veggies and starches were more than I have ever seen at a soul food venue. The portions were amazingly generous(2 could easily dine on one meal) the cornbread is authentic, not yellow or jiffy. The array of desserts were overwhelming to the point of wanting to try all of them. I was very impressed that we came in about an hour before closing on a «Church crowd Sunday«the entire staff were extremely personable and friendly and even allowed SAMPLES of veggies to taste! I would say that when you add all variables up Big Daddy has it down and sometimes you just want good soul food by good people at a great price in a good atmosphere. That’s a good thing.

I’m a sucker for soul food. Yes, the location is not on the swanky side of town but the food is awesome. If all you’re concerned about is the food and can look past the outdated set up then GO here. It’s like thanksgiving all over again. I usually get the sweet potatoes, ribs, and or chicken along with the greens. I go out of my way when I’m in town to have a plate or two

Chicken livers had horrible aftertaste, macaroni and cheese was the worst, and the collard greens were okay. Restaurant needs bleach. Staff very friendly though.

Good soul food buffet. It is located in the Greenbrier mall area. I like the collard greens and smothered pork chops. The lemonade is very good. They have a $ 6 lunch special that gives you plenty of food.

PLEASEREAD!!! We love Big Daddys Dish and would recommend anyone in search of a great Soul Food place to visit and try MOST of the items on the menu. However I went to this location today and my Fried Chicken Wings were sour. My mac & cheese, collard greens, pork chop, broccoli rice casserole and candied yams were quite wonderful though. However, as a lover of food; good food to be exact, I feel as though not only should your food be tasty, it should also be fresh. I tried one wing and when it was sour I tried a second to make sure of what I was tasting. There is a weird flavor that cooked but sour meat has and I noticed it immediately. I would advise anyone going to Big Daddys Dish to try the Old National location first so that your first experience will not be marred by improper food safety/storage techniques. The sweet tea was great but could have been steeped a little bit longer. As with most Soul Food restaurants the décor is very home kitchen like, but that is a part of the experience so this is not a negative thing. Overall, Big Daddys is a great example of Southern Soul Food, particularly if you like having lots of options. THEYARETHEONLYSOUTHERNSOULFOODRESTAURANTWITHINTHEPERIMETERTHAT I KNOWOFTHATSERVESTHEIRENTIREMENUEVERYDAY, which says a lot about how much they care about their customers. However they receive 3 stars from me for not being considerate od their customers health ATALLTIMES. I should never have to complain about food being old, only if it is tasty or not. That was unacceptable.

This place is delicious for the most part. Go to place for soul food in the area. The fried pork chop is delish. I wish the fried chicken was better. The macaroni ok, not creamy like I like it. Instead I opt for the broccoli rice and cheese. The rutabegas are excellent! The service is fast and there’s a good amount of seating. There are lots of food options and daily specials. Collard greens are not that tender and have huge leaves. Just not how I like them. Overall I frequent this place and would recommend it. If the fried chicken was better I’d give it 5 stars.

A friend and I visited this restaurant on Sunday after church. To our amazement the Buffet line moved quickly and seating was easy to attain. The food was absolutely delicious and service was on point! This restaurant had more soul food selections than I have ever experienced! Every dish was delicious and portions generous. The collards were sooo tender! Price was very affordable for what you got! It also appeared to be very clean. I have frequented a The Beautiful restaurant previously but Big Daddy’s will now be my soul food restaurant of choice! Try it! My friend Also love it and she is a very picky eater!

New location on Campbellton, near the Greenbriar area. I believe this replaces the location formerly at Campbellton and Delowe Drive. Selection still huge and it’s a free standing building not in a plaza so getting in and out is very easy and parking is plentiful. Coming from Greenbriar mall, take a right on Campbellton and it’s on your immediate left.
