So so good! Pizza is some of the best around! Definitely give it a shot. Sauce is tasty and the crust is so good! Also those little fried spaghetti appetizers are freaking delicious! Really good hangover cure too lol!

So happy we ended up here for our last meal in Atlanta. It was better than we ever expected. We chose a pizza with roasted black cherry sausage, peppadews, caramelized onion, and fresh mozzarella. This place makes everything homemade. From their dough that they let rise for 3 days before using to every sauce and dressing, down to the fresh homemade cheese. This place was awesome and the pizza was the best we’ve ever had.

Pizza… in one word: crazy good. ok that’s 2! I had a giant calzone on a chewy toasted outer shell, fluffy and cheesy perfection in the inside. Also, the drinks and bartender: awesome! Strong mimosa with great pizza! A 10!!! Heaven!

Great pizza! Went out for dinner on a Friday night and I was surprised by how packed it was! The way the set up works is that you wait in line to make your order at the cashier and then you get seated in the dining area, and they bring the pizza to you as soon as it’s made. Unfortunately for us on a Friday night, the wait in line took about an hour. But the time seemed to go by quickly and you could also get a drink as you wait in line. Additionally, the food came out rather quickly right after we ordered. As for the pizza, I tried the Pesto Chicken and the Contadino. The Contadino was sauceless and it tasted great with artichokes, fresh basil and EVOO. The black Kalamata olives on it were on point! The pesto chicken pizza was also very tasty, although I wouldn’t say it was particularly special compared to other pesto pizzas. Overall, I found this to be very similar in quality to Antico pizza, but I will say that I enjoyed the dough from Antico a little bit better. Great pizza overall and I would recommend it!

So I went here for my birthday this past Saturday and it was an absolute ordeal. I was coming in with about 10 people so naturally I tried to make reservations and was told that I couldn’t. In fact, we weren’t even allowed to find a table until after we ordered. So we place our orders and were told it would be an hour wait but my group decided to wait. So we go to find a table and see that there are hardly any table large enough for my group and that some had indeed been reserved by other parties. So after searching for a table we end up sitting at one that had not been cleared despite no one sitting there. We then had to haul a waiter down to ask for them to clear the table and they did thankfully. The next fiasco came with getting our pizzas. A friend of mine is allergic to tomatoes so she ordered a white pizza with chicken and spinach. The waitress hassled her and kept insisting she just get a Margarita pizza because it was the same thing, which it isn’t and it also has tomato sauce on it. After reiterating her allergy to the waitress she finally allows my friend to order the white pizza yet what was brought to our table was what«you guessed it» a Margarita pizza with tomato sauce. Luckily one of the waiters fixed the problem for us and actually told me that his mom had the same problem! This place could’ve easily gotten five stars from me because the pizza is actually really good bit that service was unforgivable and I’ll probably never go back.

Truly ‘amazing’ pizza! :) I’ve had pizza all over the world, including Italy, and this is right up there with the champs! The brick oven, the dusting, and since I like it well done(which brings out some of the deep flavors in the crust) I have to say that I’m beyond impressed.

I really enjoyed this place. I originally wanted to go to Antico, but could only go on a Sunday, when Antico is closed. This was a very good consolation prize. I went with a big group, so we got to try a bunch of different things, including the meatballs, caprese salad, margherita pizza, the inferno, the ammazzare, and the carne. I didn’t think the caprese was all that special, but the meatballs and pizzas were all very good. The inferno was my favorite, but only by a narrow margin over the others. Overall, this is a cool spot with good food at reasonable prices, in what seems like a pretty cool area.

Such a cool spot! It’s fancy pizza dining but not sooo fancy. You order first, they give you a number and then you find your seat. They have appetizers and lots of toppings for the pizzas. I chose the magherita pizza and added mushrooms and truffle oil.- crust was thin not so breaddy and easy to eat. The only thing my pizza was missing was ranch lol. For appetizer I got the spaghetti fritti– cool take on fried spaghetti but the center of my spaghetti was a little cold… weirdddd I really liked the atmosphere. It’s a place where after work you’d come here with a couple of coworkers and throw back some beers.

I have been a big advocate for Ammazza for a couple years frequently recommending it to anyone looking for a good pizza place. So the pizza is good, I already get a Carne. I have learned to avoid the weekends as it gets crowded and loud and come in the middle of the week. Sadly even the middle of the weeks aren’t safe. I came on a Wednesday night hoping to have a conversation with a Coworker and enjoy a good pizza. someone felt the need to hirer a DJ for That night. While it wasn’t crowded, the DJ needed to crank the music to such a level as if to overcome a club full of people and made sure we couldn’t hear each other across the table without yelling. It’s not enjoyable to have every other word be WHAT?! The thing I liked about Ammazza was its pizza and laid back attitude. Unfortunately Last night They let the music take center stage and rather then the food.

I don’t even like Neapolitan-style pizza, but this place is wonderful. The appetizer of bread with garlic and goat cheese is great. The amarena(peppers, cherries and sausage) and bolognese(meatball) pizzas were great, too. The margherita was a total disappointment. It just didn’t have enough basil or flavor. The cocktails are wonderful, and the mix of communal and booth seating is nice. It’s really nice that you can watch the cooks make the pizza through a large window in the dining area. The wait can be kind of long at times, but don’t let it dissuade you. Great pizza awaits you here.

Came here with a friend on a Saturday night for a late-ish meal. We sat down immediately after order(although it was outside) but nicer than inside because it was so dark and smelled too strongly of pizza… which I know, crazy, I’m in a pizza place. but you know how you sit there too long and you end up walking out smelling like pizza… but it lingers and you feel sick? whatever. The pizza was good I got the Ammazzare Pizza and my friend got the Chicken Pesto. It was really good, came out super hot and fresh. The crust was so good! Moist, but chewy, but not super chewy. just a good consistency. The flavors were all there — everything seemed super fresh. I would definitely go back on a warmer night and sit outside with another pizza. They have a lot of drinks and water in the back. There’s a ton of open spaces but its ½ cafeteria style where you share a large table with others, but there are also options for booths. If you’re looking for a little bit of quiet, sitting outside is probably your best bet. Ps. There’s parking to the RIGHT of it… which I didn’t know and ended up parking farther away than necessary.

What was ordered: Veggie Spaghetti Fritti and Terra Pizza The veggie spaghetti fritti was amazing. Hot, crispy, and flavorful. The Terra Pizza was a little bland but it was decent enough. I want to like this place more but the wait for it wasn’t worth it. I believe it was a good hour and some wait time. I thoroughly enjoy pizza but not enough to wait that long for it. The staff was super friendly when we finally did get to order.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon(around 1 for lunch). First of all, I was surprised that it was pretty empty(by the time we left it was filling up). I parallel parked on the street in front of Ammazza(Randolph), but I’m guessing their lot would have had spaces. When you walk in, you order your pizza at the counter, and then take a number to the back dining area and wait for your pizza. We ordered the 16 inch Margherita pizza to split for two of us(~20 after tax). In the dining area there are some booths along the outside of the room and a long«cafeteria» style table in the middle. I don’t particularly like the cafeteria style of dining, but it wasn’t a problem because there were booths open for us to sit at :) But, if you had a large group I think this would be great! There is a window in the dining room where you can look at them making the pizzas. There was a family with some kids dining by us and they kids very much enjoyed watching the pizza making process :) The wait wasn’t very long at all for the pizza… and it was AMAZING. The crust is thin, crispy on the outside and spongy in the middle. The pizza wasn’t greasy at all. The tomato sauce was delicious(I think they use high quality ingredients). I will definitely be coming back to try some of their other pizzas :)

So it’s been a while since I reviewed this place. For the most part the pizza is still delicious, the ambience is still cool, but I have a legitimate gripe with the service. Don’t get me wrong they are very nice and polite but this is the second time in 1 month that I have gotten dinner here and the pizza took like 45 min– 1 hour to come out. They clearly have a disconnect between the kitchen and the people taking the orders. The first time we ordered at the front and it took 1 hour this time we ate at the bar and it’s at 45 min and counting for the pizza. I really hope they get it together, I still love this place more than Anticos but this is a legitimate concern. We will be back though because they are super nice and the pizza is GOOD! P. S. the salads are really good too.

The hype about Ammazza is legit. I love it when I read lots of good reviews and then go to a place and the experience and the food doesn’t disappoint! One star right there! :) The atmosphere at Ammazza is what I like to call casual chic. It’s dimmer lighting with a warm ambiance. There are a number of booths available, a couple of high top tables, and then a large family style bench table in the center of the eating area. When you enter the place, you order at the register, they give you a number for your table, and the food is brought out. As other reviewers have said, everything else is self serve. There’s a water station where you can get your own water, plates, silverware, and napkins. They also have to go boxes too if you need to take any leftovers home. The efficiency of all of this adds to less waiting and quick service. The food, THE highlight of Ammazza!, is very good. My date and I shared a Spinach salad to start with and loved it. The salad was light, the dressing, a dijon balsamic vinaigrette, was perfect. I’m usually not a cranberry fan, but the dried cranberries here really worked. For our entrees, he ordered the Ammazzare pizza and subbed regular cheese with their homemade cashew cheese. Considering he pretty much cleaned his entire order, and the occasional«mmhmm, this is good» between bites, I will go with, he was happy and enjoyed what he was eating! I had their Pesto Gorgonzola and ate 75% of my food. I would’ve kept going, but the jeans were tightening up around the waistline, so I HAD to stop! The basil pesto sauce was the star and really was a home run with this pizza. We had dinner at Ammazza on a Sunday night and the place was pretty full. Despite it being fairly busy, parking was easy and we found a spot in the side lot with no problem. If you like Napoletana style pizza and appreciate supporting a local business, this spot is worth visiting.

«Let’s skip out on the wiki facts and focus on the food. I’m trying to find out what to order on the Unilocal app before the server gets back.» [Time & Date of visit]: Sunday afternoon. [Party Size]: 5 [Location/Ambiance]: Parking kind of sucks here availability wise. There’s a bar in the dining area, though the front has beers on draft and where you order. One thing that differs between here and Antico’s midtown location, is that there’s plenty of seating and to cater to groups to sit at the communal long table. If not there, there are 4 top booths and solo diners can chill at the bar. [Service]: Ordered at the counter and get a number, then pick your own table. Water refills and silverware is self serve. Food is brought out to you. [Food Highlights]: Ammazzare — Not quite the San Gennaro at Antico’s, but it’s pretty good in it’s own right. Still worth a try. Chicken Pesto — Mighty tasty if you don’t want the usual kind of pizza. Carne — The meat lovers of the choices available. I wasn’t too wowed overall, but it’s in the pretty good 2.5 out of 5 rating. Pretty wide selection of beers but catering more to IPA’s and ales on our visit. Not much wheat beer selection. [Total Bill w/Tip & Tax]: Including two draft beers and three 12″ pizzas, came up to around mid $ 60’s before tip. {Summary}: Though I think Antico’s has it’s spot and how it’s done. Ammazza is just as good for what they offer. Beer on draft, two different sizes of pizza, and plenty of seating has me leaning towards Ammazza more if I’m with a group. Would recommend and wanting to come back to try the other pizzas.

We found an article about this place before we ever went to Atlanta. Being vegan, cashew cheese was an interesting idea. You order when you walk in. Grab a menu. Order. Go sit down. There are booths and these giant tables that seemed like they should have had Vikings or guys from the Middle Ages throwing around turkey legs sitting at them. They weren’t for me because of the claustrophobicness of them. Luckily we got a booth. You get your own plates and water and things. This was confusing at first because some of these things were missing. But no problem. This pizzas came. We were starving. My boyfriend LOVED his. Mine… Cashew cheese isn’t the best idea, maybe? I don’t know. It doesn’t stay hot long. And it’s really limp. And tastes like peanut butter. Which shouldn’t have surprised me, but it did. When it was hot hot, it wasn’t bad. The crust is really good. I can see where a different pizza would be good. I’m not sure it’s the atmosphere for me. But I can see where it’s great for other people.

Ammazza is a Neapolitan-style pizza restaurant that opened on Edgewood in Old Fourth Ward in 2012. Like other Atlanta area Naples pizza joints such as Campania, Double Zero Napoletana, Sapori di Napoli, Varuni Napoli, and of course, Antico, Ammazza has a couple fancy pizza ovens on display in the kitchen. In this case, two 900-degree, wood-fired, Forno Bravo ovens. The restaurant is located in an old brick building where Randolph St. dead-ends into Edgewood Ave. The building looks like it was once a warehouse. They’ve cleaned it up nicely and it looks great, particularly the spacious open dining room with natural lighting, communal bench seating down the middle, smaller tables and booths along the sides, and a beautiful bar in the back. They have patio seating(picnic tables) though it is limited. The atmosphere is casual, sometimes a little loud, and being in O4W, the clientele skews towards hipster. One way Ammazza differentiates itself from the competition is it’s open late: until 11pm on weeknights and until midnight on weekends. Like some of the other pizza places, you order up front, have a seat, and wait for the pies to be brought to you. Plates, silverware, napkins, glasses of water, and to-go boxes are self-serve from a station near the kitchen. As mentioned above, the kitchen is on full display, behind glass windows, to the dining room. You can stand and watch your pizza get made from scratch. The ovens are where the magic takes place. There are about 16 different types of pizza on the menu. You can choose from two sizes: 12-inch and 16-inch. 12-inch pizzas cost roughly $ 15+ each. 16-inch pizzas cost roughly $ 20+ each. These prices are on par with competitors around town. They’ve also got salads and a few appetizers, pizza fritta(deep-fried pizza), and desserts like cannoli. Ammazza makes their own mozzarella and they get their cured meats locally from The Spotted Trotter. Do order the Polpette and share with your table. These are homemade meatballs in tomato sauce with melted, oozy romano, mozzarella, and ricotta cheeses. Four larger-than-golf-ball-size meatballs come with each order. They’re served in a small black iron skillet, piping hot. It’s tough to eat each meatball in one bite. The meat is soft and savory. I’ve tried a few of this restaurant’s most popular pizzas. They include: * Margherita — house mozzarella, fresh basil, extra virgin olive oil * Carne — pepperoni, Italian sausage, sorghum-cured bacon, house mozzarella, fresh basil * Amarena — roasted black cherries and artisan sausage, peppadew peppers, caramelized onions, basil, house mozzarella The Margherita is the classic, basic pizza that many judge Neapolitan pizza places by. I think Ammazza makes a fine one. The dough is nicely charred, dusty, chewy, and appetizing — a common theme among the pizzas here. The ingredients are simple, fresh, and flavorful. If you’re looking for a no-fuss pizza, this is the one to get. The Carne is the meat lovers pizza. It’s hard to go wrong with Spotter Trotter meats. It’s a treat, actually. You get plenty of their tasty meats on this pizza. The slices of pepperoni and bits of sausage are very good. I really like the Amarena. From what I was told, it was a 2014 addition to the menu. The already-delicious sausage and cheese is made better, sweetened with the addition of roasted black cherries, peppadews, and caramelized onions. This pizza might be my favorite of the bunch. The Capricciosa is another one of the mostly commonly ordered pizzas. It has marinated artichokes, wild mushrooms, olives, shaved ham, mozzarella, and fresh basil. It’s one I look forward to trying on a future visit. Generally, the pizzas are addicting. If dining in, I recommend ordering several 12-inch pizzas and taking leftovers home. You can also order to-go. They’ve got a separate counter/cashier for that. Service is good. Free parking is available in parking lots on either side of the building. Free street parking is available too. If street parking, I recommend parking along Randolph St, which faces the restaurant.

When we visited Atlanta we got a list from our friends and family of places to try. Both of these groups has Ammazza on their list, so of course we were stoked to have dinner there. We walked in, saw the counter and the menus, and thanks to our fellow Unilocalers(and of course the signs on the wall) we knew to order and pay at the counter before finding a seat. The friendly woman at the counter let us know she could get us beer, but to order cocktails at the bar if that’s what we desired(we did). At my friend’s recommendation we tried the Insalata Di Basil to start. Apparently, they have amazing salads. According to my Aunt, we had to get the Carne pizza. My friend says you can’t go wrong with any of them. Everyone was right. The salad was great, the Carne pizza incredible… and I can’t imagine we could have chosen poorly based on the awesome crust, sauce and quality toppings. It’s got a good vibe as far as atmosphere is concerned, and we got our food quickly! The cocktails were delicious, only drawback being how long it took us to get them. One small hiccup isn’t nearly enough to take away from our experience, however. So, live in Atlanta? Go there. Lots. Visiting? Make time for it. I know I will again!

I ate at Ammazza the first month it opened. Unfortunate for them they opened in the shadow of Antico’s that had pre-dated them. Now there are even more copycats that are in the Atlanta market. However Anticos doesn’t even need anyone’s Unilocal a review. We pretty much know the things that annoy us about Anticos’s — the seating, the wait, blah blah. However anyone can deny the pizza is superior. So I want Ammazza’s pizza to be superior too because to their credit they have a full bar. They have enough seating and its just less hassle than Anticos. They are open later. So this is why I will continue to go. One time I had an amazing«crust» experience at Amazza’s. That has only happened once. I’m looking for the Nan– ness of the bread that Antico’s provides. The light buttery, fluffy crust with a special dipping character. It survives on its own without toppings. I just can’t get this consistency out of Ammazza’s crust. I’m not sure it’s a temperature inconsistency in the dough room. One time Ammazza was on par with Antico’s with the crust. It was a to go order. The other times it either came off too doughy, too chewy. So I encourage you to go. It’s definitely better than Varsanos or Varuni Napoli.
